Auctioned to the Vampire: A Dark Fantasy Romance

Rate this book
He’s a v!rg!n vampire about to be sold for his body and his bite. To save him, she agrees to take his v!rgin!ty.

The bite of a vampire is the definition of pleasure. It arouses the senses, drawing out every carnal desire. Vampires are often sold in the underground market and used to pleasure mortals who seek to control creatures of the dark.

When a troupe comes into town, Nemera crosses paths with a vampire at the brothel where she works as a barmaid. The ringleader calls for the highest and best for his prized v!rg!n vampire. She should stay away, but when she sees him paraded around in silver handcuffs with little control over his fate, she offers to help him escape.

Instead of running, he makes a request of her—to take his v!rgin!ty.

Their tryst quickly becomes something more. Just one bite, one sip of her blood, and her body is yearning for his—a consequence of the venom. But even without it, she finds herself drawn to him.

When the ringleader of the troupe catches up to them, she must decide whether to go to the auction in his place or hand over the vampire she’s already falling for.

Auctioned to the Vampire is a dark fantasy romance (romantasy) novella and prequel to Kissed by a Demon , the first book in The Wild Shadows series. It is a standalone with a guaranteed happily ever after/happy for now. You do not have to read the Auctioned to the Vampire before reading Kissed by a Demon .

What you can ♥ steamy vampire romance ♥ s*xy AF vampire bite ♥ love at first bite ♥ he’s a v!rg!n ♥ steamy auctions ♥ brothel romance ♥ “she belongs to me” ♥

As a reminder, this is a novella. As such, it’s shorter than a full-length novel.

ARC Review:

"Auctioned to the Vampire" is the novella spin-off of the "The Wild Shadows" series. The book is a quick but very well-written read that tells the story of Nemera and Rowan. She is a human with a sad past, and he is a newborn vampire, destined to be sold to the highest bidder at an auction.

Though very short, I loved the novella from start to finish. The characters are well-developed, and I enjoyed their journey from complete strangers to two of the cutest lovers. I loved both of them: Nemera because she is sweet and selfless, yet brave and willing to sacrifice everything for the person she loves; Rowan because he does everything in his power to keep her safe despite their differences.
I enjoyed how they overcame their troubled pasts and realized they are both worthy of love and being loved.

My only complaint is that this book was only 180 pages long. 👀

The main tropes of "Auctioned to the Vampire" are:
- Strangers to lovers
- Vampire MMC x Human FMC
- Love at first bite 🩸
- Dual POVs
- Brothel romance

I have yet to read "Kissed by a Demon", but I very much hope to see these two sweethearts again.

A haunting and fast paced vampire novella prequel in the wild shadows series, with steamy chemistry.
I loved seeing Rowan and Nemera's relationship grow, and the way they kept saving each other against all odds. It also explored Rowan's vulnerability, and Nemera's bravery and sacrifice, as well as their intense attraction to each other, and their need to escape and be loved.
Great plot, pacing and intensity, and the steamy scenes reflected their lust and hunger.
It was interesting seeing the way Nemera was treated like an outcast, and the dynamics of the brothal, troupe and auction.
It's a spicy vampire romance and a great story to sink your teeth into, also setting the scene with the demon threats and enchantresses explored in Kissed by a demon.

🖤"Her voice was like the steady rainfall of spring-infused with hope and new life"
🖤"I'll kiss you everyday until the sun stops rising in the sky"
🖤"I learned that love isn't selfish. It comes in, invisible as the autumn winds, but as powerful as a storm"
🖤"I love you more than the air i breathe and more then the blood I crave"

I was lucky enough to be able to read an advanced copy of this book, and I was not disappointed.

Nemera is the town outcast. Her husband owes a lot of money and abandoned her, leaving her at the mercy of the townspeople. An outcast, with no money and no home. She was fortunate enough to find work in a bar at a brothel. For a little extra cash, she can offer her blood to the vampires that secretly enter the town.

During one of these visits, she encounters Rowan, a shackled vampire who she learns is going to be auctioned. Rowan will bring in a great price as he is not only a newly made vampire, but he is a virgin to top it off. His virginity status is given away by the shimmer of his skin in the moonlight that will only disappear once he is a virgin no more.

One taste is all it took! They were drawn to each other.

This book has vampires, demons, magic, and enchantresses. It has lust, hunger, daring escapes, fighting, murder, death, and sexual exploration.

It was a story of pain and love. I ate up every word and it was delicious!

Let me preface this by saying “this is me dipping my toe into the fantasy romance pool.” I usually avoid fantasy at all costs BUT the write up on this one ticked a lot of boxes for tropes that I enjoy (less fantasy).

It’s an enemies to lovers + forbidden romance which I enjoy plus the MMC was a virgin. I’ve not read a book like that yet so I was like…what the heck let’s give it a go.

I did enjoy it. The characters weren’t super deep or complicated but their circumstances absolutely were. I’m sure the rest of the series will dive deeper into these characters and give you an opportunity to become more connected and attached to them.

The sex scenes were 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

So from this non fantasy, non vampire loving reviewer….I enjoyed it so that’s saying something.

cuuuute little read!
The MMC is a gem and I love him. I very much enjoyed the twist on the virginity trope, the plot was intriguing and it did make me curious the rest of the books hosted in that world!
Unfortunately, I felt like the writing wasn't as polished as it could have been. The potential is definitely there so and I kinda hope to see it evolve in the other books.

As a new reader for this world, I enjoyed this book, I want to see if there's a back story to why it is the way it is, with demons and wars etc, and the way the towns are. Reading the intro, I thought, oh, she's a brothel worker, but nope, she's not, since readers will sometimes pass on reading a book if they don't like these types. Wanted to yell a few times, get in the bloody ship, and start over, but nope, the author destroyed my wishes, hehehe, but not a bad story to start on this NEW adventure with 😀

"Auctioned to the Vampire" is a novella that offers a fresh twist on the vampire genre. The plot centers around a brave woman who rescues a vampire from being auctioned off, only to find herself in his place. The premise is intriguing and promises a captivating adventure.

The story moves at a brisk pace, keeping readers engaged with its blend of action and romance. The initial setup is compelling, and the tension builds nicely as the protagonist navigates her perilous new situation. The world-building is solid, creating a vivid backdrop for the unfolding drama.

However, despite the promising storyline, I found it difficult to connect with the characters. While their actions and motivations are clear, there is a certain emotional depth that seems to be missing. This lack of connection made it challenging to fully invest in their journey and experiences.

Overall, "Auctioned to the Vampire" is an entertaining read with a unique plot and fast-paced narrative. It’s a good choice for fans of vampire stories looking for a quick, engaging novella.

This was a cute and actioned pack little novella! If you’re looking for a palette cleanser between books, look no further. For those that don’t like insta-lust /love might find this hard to finish but I kept reminding myself it’s a novella and there isn’t a lot of time to flesh out a whole relationship, world building and character development in less than 200 pages. But with that being said Rosalyn did a great job giving you enough of each to keep you entertained and hooked from the beginning.

Rowan and Nemera were adorable! I love the virgin MMC trope and although the spice scenes were limited they were well done.
I’m curious now to read “ Kissed by a Demon” if this novella was a prequel because the world is very interesting!

This is a prequel to the first book in the Wild Shadows series, and is a fast paced steamy romance. Who doesn’t love a good vamp bite every now and then? Rowan is a virgin newly made vampire on sale at an underground market, being auctioned off for his bite. Nemera has a haunting past and is an outcast in her town, working at a bar in a brothel to pay off a large debt. This is a well written fix for someone who’s looking for a quick different take on Vampires.

I absolutely loved this book! I’m a sucker for a vulnerable MMC and the fact that Rowan was a virgin and told her she would need to guide him had me melting on the spot. The longing and protectiveness from both characters, even if they didn’t realize it themselves, was amazing. I’m so sad this was only a prequel novella to Rosalyn’s The Wild Shadows series because I need more Rowan and Nemera. I will definitely be running to download Kissed by a Demon immediately.

Sad, action pack, love, and many more. This novella has it all. I haven't read the first book in the series and I'm happy I read this first. Gave me more insight about the MFC in missed by a demon. Which I need to read now. This is a great book and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Rosalyn truly got my blood pumping with this one, between the sensual scenes between Nemera & Rowan. the fighting, the lost & found. i couldn’t stop reading. it was also nice to see a small cameo from Arabella, seeing how her & other enchantress’
this was definitely a story about pain & love. and i loved every moment of it.

After enjoying Kissed by a Demon, this prequel novella gave me everything I hoped it would. It gave me a deeper look at Shadowbank and the mystical forest surrounding it, there was a beautiful love story between Nemera and Rowan (with no cut to black 🌶️), and of course, there's an appearance from the badass FMC from KBAD: Arabella!

I'm very much looking forward to the KBAD sequel, and this novella only amplified that excitement. The author has a knack for worldbuilding and creating memorable characters, and I can't wait to see where this story goes next!

This was my first book by this author and it was like a cross between the vampire diaries and supernatural that took place in somewhere you would see the Witcher in. I loved it. Rowan is sold off because of a poor excuse of a man (his drunken father) and turned against his will to become a vampire. He is shuffled around like he is a wild animal on show to be auctioned off and used by the highest bidder as they saw fit. What made his appealing was he was a new/virgin vampire and that made him very valuable for the right price. When they make it to the auction house he is allowed to feed on one female and who knew the female he fed on would change the course of his life.

Nemera is just a woman who is trying to make a new life for herself after her ex-husband left her without another thought and was also left behind to deal with the mess he made. No matter how hard she tried no one would help because of all the debt her ex had racked up. She ends up finding one soul who was willing to give her a place to work and sleep instead of remaining homeless and on the streets. Working in the bar only paid so much and after years of hard work and gaining the owners trust she was brought into the secrets of what dealings go on in the basement.

One bite and one bite alone changed everything for these two. Most people despised the vampires and wanted nothing to do with them but the humanity in Nemera didn't care what he was only that she didn't like the way he was being treated. She had a big and bleeding heart when it came to things like that. These two fall hard and fast for each other and do anything they can to protect each other, she un-shackles him and helps him escape only for him to then turn around and buy her in the auction meant for him for her to be safe and free from his captor. Needless to say they should have both just ran off together the moment she was able to free him. However, life had a different path for them to follow. The chemistry that these two have for each other is unlike anything I have read about. I can't wait to see what this author creates next. She definitely has my vote and has hooked me on to her books

Not my usually type of book. I used to read more spicy books, but they became too tedious and troupe-y. I found this author at a local book outing and I like dark horror books, so I thought, might as well give it a try. I actually bought Kissed by a Demon and got Auctioned to the Vampire as a freebie. I haven't read Demon yet, but it's on my TBR.

Back to the book, I like how it dove right in, and the audience isn't babied with too much exposition at once. Stirling is a good writer in keeping the story moving. I have read too many books lately that end up repetitive, not only with story but with words. Stirling only did this a little bit with Nemera's backstory and the word Vampire - but that couldn't really be helped.. he was, after all, a vampire. She didn't explain out in detail that vampires can pass for humans, you just knew through other characters in the story.
One of my biggest pet peeves about a lot of romance books is that "misunderstanding" that happens at some point where the main characters have to love/hate each other for a while and it frustrates me to no end. Luckily (sorry maybe spoilers??) The "misunderstandings" here were quick and we didn't have to go through pages of that for them to finally realize "OH! That's what you meant!"
I appreciated that, even if it was just because it was a novella and we had to keep the ball moving.
I liked Nermera's character - she was hurt in the past, but she didn't let that stop her. She was feisty and brave and confident in her body. I wanted to know a bit more about Rowan and his situation but perhaps he comes along, or the more of the vampire lore comes along in her other books. I wanted to know more the entire universe that they are in, with demons and warrior women with magic. So it was a pretty good teaser to bring you into Stirling's world and make you want more.
Speaking of "teaser", yes, the sex scenes were spicy and sweet.
It was a very cute love story based in a dark setting under dire circumstances.

If I didn’t have any responsibilities, I would’ve read this entire novella in one sitting. ITS👏🏼THAT👏🏼GOOD👏🏼 I loved Nemera and Rowan’s story, they complemented each other so well which just had me devouring every word. Auctioned to the Vampire is the prequel to Kissed by a Demon, book 1 in The Wild Shadows series. Book 1 is already out and is available on Kindle Unlimited.

In Auctioned to the Vampire, we have Nemera that has had a rough past with love which led her to living on the streets for a few years until one kind lady, Trista, decided to take a chance on her and hired her at her business, The House of Obscurities. Nemera has worked as much as she physically could to build up enough savings to leave the town of Shadowbank and start a new life that wasn’t clouded by her ex husband. One day, Trista let Nemera in on her secret dealings with a much bigger payout. Nemera had to be willing to let a vampire feed on her. In Shadowbank, vampires are forbidden for the safety of the townspeople, but Trista has made deals with vampire ringleader, Jonas, that allows him to secretly come into town and make money from his performers. This time, however, Jonas also has a virgin vampire to auction off.

Rowan has had a terrible upbringing where he had to work to pay for everything ever since he was a child, because his father was a drunk. However, his dad ending up selling him to Jonas one day. Jonas then turned Rowan into a vampire and soon found out that he was still a virgin. In this world, virgin vampires glow in the moonlight, and don’t think Edward in Twilight glow, more so like luminescent moon glow. Vampire bites are also full of venom that fills the victim with immense sexual desire. Jonas ends up deciding to auction Rowan to the highest bidder. However, he wasn’t expecting Rowan and Nemera to strike a deal to help him lose his virginity, and once he loses it, everything is changed forever.

Thank you to our amazing author for the opportunity to receive this ARC and review it.
Auctioned by a Vampire is a paranormal romance novella that take place in the Wild shadows series as a prequel to Kissed by a Demon. It follows the story of a young vampire that’s been sold as a slave to the leader of a troupe of performers and a divorced woman who found herself working for lodge in the towns tavern to escape the life of destitute after her husband gambled away everything. These two come together in an unlikely romance as the troupe leader hosts an underground auction within the tavern. I really enjoyed the characters Rowan and Nemera and their journey to escape servitude, how they challenge the forces against them, and the selfless decisions they each made to aid one another to freedom. However, for me personally the romance just wasn’t my favorite. I found myself skimming through some of it.
Until we got to the action that is packed in the end with the enchantresses and what I could only describe as a scene from game of thrones when the white walkers are headed for the wall. That shit had me gripping on to each line to see how it was all going to end. Rosalyn Stirling definitely knows how to build a fantasy world and keep the reader hooked into the story with the vivid imagery she creates for the reader. I’m definitely an enemies to lovers trope girl which was delicious in Kissed by a demon so I think if I was more into the friends to lovers trope this would have been a 5 star read for me. So I will not discount the story in any way because the trope wasn’t for me. It was definitely an enjoyable read and I will definitely be invested into the series continuing.

Nemera has a tough life after her husband left her with nothing but his debt. Finding room and work in a brothel called the "House of Obscurities" she realises all is not as it seems with this establishment and she can earn a little extra money by offering her blood to a Vampire.

Rowan, a newly turned Vampire is set to be auctioned. His captor is confident he'll fetch a good price being that he is a v¡rg¡n, with skin that glows and he possesses a bite different from other vampires.

"She was decadent. She was the morning star, engulfing him in light. She was warmth, itself."

I loved this story. Rosalyn really had me on the edge.
My heart broke for Rowan. To be honest, I read this on such a deeper meaning and not just in the Fantasy aspect it was intended due to the slavery aspect.
It really had me rooting for that HEA, which every time I thought it was coming was ripped away from me 🤣. Be assured it does end HEA.

Nemera is such a strong character. Despite having gone through a sad and challenging past, it doesn't stop her from stepping forward and fighting for what she believes is right. But what will it cost her?

If it hadn't been for my adult responsibilities, I would have finished this in one sitting.

It's fast-paced with good character development, an engaging plot, passion, action, and frustration 🙈.

Well done on another great book, Rosalyn 🫶🏼🖤

First all of, this book is a prequal to 'The Wild Shadows' series. It's also a novella, meaning that it's not a novel. It's written in a 3rd person POV and in past tense. We follow both Rowan's and Nemera's POV. Now to the storyline;

Rowan is a new vampire, doesn't know how to control his hunger and is always in pain, physically. Not is Rowan only a new vampire, but he's also new to 18+ steamy acitvities, as in he never did *it*. Which is an important thing in the book, that sounds way better in my head.

Then we have Nemera, who's human. Nemera has a bad past that still suffers her to this day. She makes sure that those who she loves, are safe, even though it comes with a price: Getting 'Auctioned to the Vampire.'

Both have their weaknesses and don't have a choice in what is going on, until they meet each other.

You can see it as a "Love at first sight" story, which didn't bother me. It wasn't a cringe novella, where it was a standard vampire story. The vampires ( yes plural ) have their own style. They didn't need rings to stay in the sun, didn't have a doctor to get blood supplies and I can go on.

If you want to know what I meant with 'Love at first sight,' you'll just have to read the book. Now the things you can expect;

¥• Both are heroes
¥• Stranger to lovers
¥• She takes the lead doing 18+ things
¥• Soft 18+ scenes ( in my opinion )
¥• More than just only vampires
¥• Fast paced
¥• Dual POVs

Trigger warnings;
¥• Death
¥• Mention of financial problems
¥• 18+ mention of 18+ problem
¥• Trafficking
¥• Blood ( obviously )

Thank you Rosalyn for the ARC!

This was a lot darker than what I’m used to but it was such a good time.

This is Nemera and Rowan’s story.
Nemeras had a rough life. Her ex husband left her with nothing after gambling all their money away her parents disowning her after the marriage fell apart. The only place willing to hire her is this brothel/bar called “The House of Obscurities”. Where she works for practically nothing saving every penny with the hopes of running away from this place.
Until she meets Rowan.

He’s a young virgin vampire that is brought into the house of obscurities to be sold at a secret auction. He’s highly valuable due to both his vampirism and virginism.

Rowan has had a shit life as well. He was sold into slavery by his father and turned into a vampire simply to be sold at auction. He believes everyone just wants something from him. Including Nemera. He thinks she just wants to get off from him biting her. But she proves him wrong at every turn. She’s just kind and does everything for him with no intent of being repaid. Because of this kindness they fall in love.

It’s fast but everything between the two of them just flows. Their characters compliment each other so perfectly. They’re just kind and take everything slow between each other and are constantly talking about consent. Because that’s something that’s never been a concept for either of them.

As for the plot it made sense but got repetitive and confusing by the end.
But the love story was worth it to stick around for.

Read this is if you want a darker but very cute and short read.

A simple request that will change both their lives.

Nemera has been struggling to find her place since her now ex-husband gabled away everything they had. The Mistress of the House of Obscurities is the only one willing to give her a chance in the town. It gives her a place to live and work to save money for her future.

After years earning the trust of the mistress Nemera finds herself being allowed into the basement and down here she finds a vampire who is about to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Rowan is special since he is still a virgin making him worth so much more. When Nemera is chosen to feed the young vampire she feels an immediate connection to him.

When Nemera finds Rowan being whipped she is determined to help him in any way she can. Rowan knows the one thing that may save him would be for him to lose the virginity that makes him so highly sought after. Nemera wants nothing more than to get closer to the vampire. She happily offers herself to him.

Will this be the start of something new or just a means to an end?

This was a quick read but it was filled with so much that it felt like it must be much longer. Between the character development and the battles that are being fought you will be wondering what could possibly happen next. I loved this story and plan to continue the series.

This was a nice little read of twist and turns. It’s a good start to the series as a prequel.
The characters I think were developed excellently, you really get to know the backgrounds of both main characters. You get to see how they came to be in the positions they are and how it impacts their day to day lives.
The plot was good, I do think that there was some unnecessary decisions that were made by the main characters. A lot of it felt like a conglomerate of the main characters flailing around trying to achieve freedom only to going in circles with it. I think there could have been other ways for it to proceed that would have gotten the same end goal without all the mess that gets caused.
The chemistry was good between the two of them thou, they both seemed to really desire one another. Their first time together had a sense of awkwardness but I mean given his situation it makes a lot of sense. Spice I’m going to say is about a 2.5/5, there was a few scenes throughout and they are spaced out well. They are beautifully descriptive which I can’t expect anything less from this author.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, it was interesting to see the characters from book one prior to them being in book one. I do think it could have used some fine tuning in terms of plot flow but honestly it was a nice short read and it was good. I’m going to say it’s a 3/5, but Id recommend it to someone who is interested in the series.

Well…. The introduction certainly caught my attention and had me smirking. Who doesn’t love this trope.

The first words in chapter one had my emotions already spiralling for Rowan. What he had endured in his past and the months that followed after forcibly being turned into a vampire. The badass FMC Nemera also shared a tragic past, but still remained kind and selfless. The biggest difference between them was that she was human, making the love they shared forbidden.

I really enjoyed this prequel and found it hard to put the book down. There were moments where you wholeheartedly shared the joy between the characters and then there were times when trepidation stepped in, keeping you on the edge of your seat.

I loved both Nemara and Rowans characters. Nemara although having had a woeful, pernicious past, she kept a pure heart and faced challenges with unrelenting strength, even if the outcome would undoubtedly cost her life. Now Rowan. Although he is a mighty predator, he held such vulnerability and wasn’t afraid to show it. He is also pure of heart, fearless and protective. His character is instantly loveable.

Rosalyn has also written a bonus chapter to sign up for, the link is provided at the end of the book. This is definitely a chapter you want to sign up for, as it is very spicy.

I am looking forward to moving onto book 1 of ‘The Wild Shadows’ series ‘Kissed by a demon’ which follows Arabella and her self sacrifice.

Auctioned by the Vampire by Rosalyn Stirling is an exciting and steamy paranormal romance that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The concept of a human being auctioned off to a vampire lord is both intriguing and daring, and Stirling delivers on the tension and chemistry between the two leads.

The story is fast-paced with a lot of action and a touch of suspense that makes you want to keep flipping pages. The main character, a strong-willed heroine, finds herself in a situation she never expected, and I really appreciated how she navigates the complexities of the vampire world while still maintaining her own voice. The vampire hero, while dark and brooding, is surprisingly layered, and I found myself rooting for his redemption and the evolution of his relationship with the heroine.

Stirling’s world-building is solid; the vampire society she creates feels rich and immersive, and the way she explores the power dynamics between humans and vampires adds a lot of depth to the plot. The romance is sizzling, and while it’s definitely on the steamy side, it’s not the only driving force of the story. There’s enough action and intrigue to balance out the heat.

The only thing that kept me from giving this a full five stars was that a few plot points felt a bit predictable, and some of the character interactions, especially towards the middle, became a little repetitive. That said, the story picks up again toward the end, leaving me eager for the next book in the series.
