June and Nova are in their twenties. June is a popular online streamer. Following the ending of a relationship, June has returned home to live in her parents' basement and recruited her old role-playing group to participate in sessions for a podcast.
Nova is Sapphic, non-binary, and socially anxious, preferring to keep to themselves.
This story is told around (sometimes during and in-character) weekly roleplaying sessions. We learn about events that led to June losing touch with her friends. We meet June's former fiancé when he comes to town to try and win her back. We learn the secret Nova can't bring themself to share with June. We see how attracted Nova and June are to one another and that June may not be as "straight" as she has always believed.
I loved seeing both leads learn more about themselves and each other. I love so-called "toaster oven" romances in which a heterosexual female realises she is lesbian/bisexual/pansexual/queer. June's journey is told with warmth and humour, with several deliciously spicy scenes along the way, and the geeky/roleplaying atmosphere felt just right.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from Erin Branch.

3.25 ⭐️ I enjoyed the uniqueness of this book. Having the two main characters play a game of D & D while having a real life story was interesting. I liked both main characters, June has a big following with her fictitious character Awe. She has recently broken up with her boyfriend and is trying to earn money to get an apartment. her BFF from HS is Nova and they reconnect after her breakup. Nova is writer and has had her first book published.
At times I lost track of who was speaking and had to backtrack to figure it out. I thought the middle of the book dragged a bit with the indecision on the MCs to figure out if they wanted to continue to their relationship or split up.
The D & D roll playing was fun, I like strategy board games, and could appreciate this added dimension to the
story. I also enjoyed the cover art and thought it was well done.

What an excellent book! Erin truly breathes life into the world of tabletop RPGs, particularly in the realm of Dungeons and Dragons. The storyline is masterfully crafted, and the intricate characters, both as individuals and as their in-game personas, are flawlessly portrayed.
The book in its entirety was exceptionally well-written, and the romantic connection that develops between June and Nova is portrayed perfectly. I love a second chance romance novel, and this particular one does not disappoint. From the very beginning, I found myself rooting for their union, and when it finally occurs, it is undoubtedly worth the wait. The chemistry between them is palpable, and the spice is top-notch.
I absolutely recommend this book and look forward to reading more from Erin in the future.

i saw the author promoting their new release Di-Curious a while back as a sapphic Dungeons and Dragons inspired romance, and i’ve basically been vibrating with excitement ever since. this was an extremely highly anticipated read for me, so when i got approved for an ARC i was thrilled!
let me tell you, i love every single thing about this book. the cover is gorgeous, the characters are so funny, charming, and relatable. almost immediately, the nerdy references are everywhere and i felt like these characters are my people. they all just wanna do what they love and play some D&D. which, yknow, same!!
When June and Nova started flirting in their sessions… i was like giddy and just super into it. And then when they started flirting for real? i got major butterflies and i was giggling like a high schooler! the chemistry between them and also the cast in general was so good and i wanted to be their friend so bad. June’s struggle figuring out her sexuality and Nova’s struggle with falling for a “straight” girl are both extremely relatable experiences for myself and so many others. only for them, it worked out! this paired with mentions of all of my favorite nerdy things made for a novel perfectly suited for readers like me.

I saw the author promote this book on Facebook and have been so excited to read it. I mean, that cover!! 😍 Amirite? Sapphic FNb D&D romance with autism rep? Yes. Please. Imagine my excitement when I was gifted an ARC!
Ladies, gentlemen, and gentlethems, this book met and exceeded my expectations. The romance between June and Nova (and their characters, Awe and Hunt) was so adorable. Their banter was funny and sweet and I couldn’t help but love them. They would fit right into my friend group and honestly I’m a little sad they’re fictional. The side characters were also a lot of fun, and if there is ever a sequel, I hope to learn more about them.
Going into this book I wasn’t sure what the spice level would be but I was pleasantly surprised! There were several really well done spicy scenes. I love when characters joke around in bed, it makes it so much more realistic and trust me, the scenes were still plenty hot. And the ending!! 🥰 I won’t give anything away but it was wonderful. The whole book was wonderful. I wouldn’t change a single thing and I can’t wait to read future works by Erin Branch.

Di-Curious is a sapphic romance that revolves around two people falling for eachother during a D&D campaign. I personally have never played D&D, but love board games and RPG video games. This book not only explains the ins and outs of D&D, but also made me want to play D&D.
The two main characters, June and Nova, are well developed and so entertaining to read about. June is adorable and a little clueless at times, but is so relatable as she journeys through how she identifies sexually. Nova is a bit quirky and standoffish at first but slowly opens up as their and June's relationship progresses. I could not stop smiling at their interactions both during the D&D campaign and when they are just hanging out with each other. There were definitely some well written love scenes that also had the perfect amount of humor added to it. Overall, I could barely put it down and didn't want it to end. If you enjoy books with a little bit of tension (former friend become enemy become lover type tension) and a whole lot of nerdy humor this book is for you. Plus it has a great protrail of D&D as well as LGBTQ+ community.

Cool book.
It was so fun to read it! I have never played D&D but it was very interesting to read about it. Sounds that it is so much fun. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the dynamic between Nova and June. It was wonderful to have parallel storyline for Awe and Hunt. I really really loved how supportive they were of each other. Their chemistry in game and real life was so visible and beautiful.

A beautiful and well-crafted story where fantasy and reality intertwine.
June and Nova's relationship was so sweet (and spicy, too!) and it was a pleasure seeing how they overcame obstacles to find themselves and one another. I loved the references to Nova's budding career as an author, and delighted with each reference to nerd culture. Gosh, I can't wait for ren faire season here! Makes me want to bring out my dice and get back into D&D as well.

Bloody loved this book. Nostalgia mixed with self discovery all at the weird age of no longer being a kid but expecting to be an adult. Brilliant representations of all varieties and damn did the rpg brilliance entwine perfectly with the romance.

I got an ARC for this book (thank you to the author <3)
I started reading this as I was interested by the blurb I read and wanted to know more about DnD and this book didn’t disappoint I loved the relationship between nova and June and everything that happened between them and a little detail I noticed (I’m not sure if it was intentional or not) each chapter has a D20 in the corner sometimes a Nat 20 or a Nat 1 (thanks to my boyfriend for letting me know the proper dnd terms) I noticed it connects to the type of chapter it’ll be happy or sad which I loved and I think I’ll be picking up another book from this author :)

Di-Curious by Erin Branch is a contemporary sapphic romance with a touch of cozy fantasy that delves into the life of June, a mid-level Dungeons and Dragons influencer who, despite her internet fame, struggles with her personal life and lives in her parents' basement. When a lucrative opportunity arises, June is forced to reconnect with her old friends after being disinvited from her celebrity D&D group. This leads to awkward interactions with her former best friend Nova, who gives her the cold shoulder in real life while flirting with her character during game sessions. As June navigates these dynamics, she begins to confront long-ignored feelings, leading to a journey of self-discovery and rekindled relationships.
I picked up Di-Curious because it combined several elements I love: D&D, sapphic romance, and second-chance romances. However, despite the promising premise and plot, the book fell short in its execution. One of my primary complaints is that the characters felt one-dimensional and did not convincingly portray their near-thirty age. The dialogue and behavior read more like a YA novel with teenage characters than an adult novel with adult characters, which detracted from the story's authenticity.
Despite these flaws, I still gave the book 3 stars, mainly due to the enjoyable integration of the D&D characters into the narrative. This aspect added a unique and fun layer to the story, blending the game world with the characters' real lives in an engaging way. However, the overall plot and character development left much to be desired. The resolution felt too neat and rushed, making the cozy ending less satisfying. While I appreciate cozy stories with guaranteed happy endings, this one lacked the depth and build-up needed to make the conclusion feel earned.

I know next to nothing about D&D so I was nervous going into this story, but you truly don’t have to know anything about D&D to still enjoy this book. Sure there are moments where the dialogue went over my head but everything that was necessary to the story was explained well enough that I was never lost.
I found the writing enjoyable. It made the story flow well and was quick to read. There’s so much diversity and characters you can’t help but love. And the main characters, June and Nova, are absolutely perfect for each other! They’re also estranged best friends to lovers which is one of my favorite tropes and I enjoyed the way it was written in this story.
My only minor complaint is there’s information that was initially very important to the plot. I don’t like the way the character handled the information/secret and I thought it would blow up in the character’s faces when the truth finally came out. But the way it ended up being revealed was anticlimactic in the end. And I personally would have been pretty upset by it being kept from me for so long, but that’s just me 😅
Overall, I definitely recommend you check this book out!

Di-Curious is a delightful bit of wish fulfillment bundled with plenty of easter eggs for those who enjoy tabletop gaming and romantasy. The cover art has warm hues and beautiful character art that match the coziness and warmth of this book.
There are two POVs. First, June is a burgeoning D&D influencer along the lines of Ginny Di or the cast of Critical Role; also an oblivious late-bloomer bisexual woman who is just getting over a toxic relationship with her ex-boyfriend. The second POV is Nova, a writer of D&D novels and adventure ghost-writer; who is confident in her sexuality and non-binary gender, but has social anxiety and ADHD which was not accepted or supported by her own recent ex-girlfriend.
They grew up together, but parted ways in recent years. They reunite as Lyssa and Aiden invite June to their regular D&D game. June needs a new group for her podcast, and Nova needs to resolve a burning secret of their own. June plays Awe, a pink sparkly tiefling lore bard with a bubbly personality, and Nova plays Hunt, a blue-themed tiefling vengeance paladin with a serious and mysterious vow that they won't admit aloud.
The exes, June's podcast company, Nova's writing career, industry homophobia, bisexual erasure, and their future opportunities cause them to grow together and face new conflicts during the course of the story. Some chapters focus on their game sessions, while others focus on their lives outside of game night. When the POV switches in the middle of the chapter, June's perspective is noted with a lute, and Nova's is noted with a sword.
References scattered throughout the book include allusions to Sarah J Maas "A court Of" Series, Tamsyn Muir's The Locked Tomb, The Witcher, Critical Role, characters from official D&D adventures like Xanathar and his goldfish; dragon dildos; and of course common D&Disms like spell names or rolling a critical hit are mentioned too.
I was a little surprised at the occurrences of PVP without turning into a horror story - I suppose it's part of the fantasy that a group could manage that with emotional maturity.
While I'll still be running Thirsty Sword Lesbians instead of supporting Wizards, I certainly support this book! It was a fun ride and felt magical.

I really enjoyed this book. Even though it's been years since I played D&D very badly, I felt as if I was a part of the campaign due to the world building during the group's D&D role play. June and Nova are both likeable characters and have the best group of friends. Because this is written in alternating first person, we are privy to exactly what June and Nova feel from their respective perspectives. I liked the flirtatious banter between their characters during their role play and how those interactions were juxtaposed to their real life interactions. This book has humor and is well written with relatable, true to life characters who experience personal growth and are given a second chance at a relationship. I look forward to reading more from Erin Branch in the future.

My Sapphic nerdy heart has fallen in love with Di-Curious. I swooned, I laughed, I cried. All the great emotions to feel when reading! June and Nova quickly became some of my favorite characters ever in a book I’ve read. As a girlie who loves to dye her hair crazy colors and wishes to play D&D this was the perfect book to read. Especially with spooky season upon us, this was a nice cozy read that had some of that magic dancing through the pages. A wonderful read from Erin Branch.

It was a super silly book. Plenty of D&D references throughout which I guess was okay. It being so prevalent in the spicy parts I'm still not sure about. I think it could have spent more time on character development instead of speed-running the relationship.

This was a very sweet book. And cute. And interesting. The D&D aspect was pretty prominent and that was very nice. The main couple really fit together, their flirting was fiire. It wasn't crazy spicy, but the use of nerdy sex toys and roleplay in the bedroom was really interesting.
I saw someone say that the characters behave younger than they are. I kinda agree, but it didn't make me enjoy the story less.
However, I feel like the promised stakes could've had been higher. I mean I guess when you know and love someone for a such a long time, it's easy to look past problems, but I guess I like drama haha.
Also, it is stated that Nova is autistic, and maybe it's supposed to be like a mild case, but I felt like she just behaved introverted (and often not, for June). I'd like that aspect of her character to be more prominent.
Anyways, I recommend this book.

I received an ARC of this book and being the true procrastinator that I am, promptly forgot I had it in my library until the time came for a review.
I’m sad that I slept on this book. I loved June and Nova’s stories and watching their relationship develop. It was refreshing to have such relatable characters that actually communicated with each other. I also really loved the shifting points of view between reality and fantasy.

How do I even begin to describe how much I loved this book?! The characters, the emotions, the spice, all of it was fantastic! The story was so fun to follow and I really loved reading how the characters developed throughout the book. I also really loved learning more about Dungeons and Dragons. I never played, but I was always curious about the game, as I love all things fantasy. This book just made my nerdy/geeky heart so happy!
This story is told through the two perspectives of our main characters: June and Nova, former BFFs. Both of them play D&D and have somewhat successful careers surrounding the game. When the two reunite to play the game together for June’s online presence as a D&D influencer, they wind up having some big moments that leak into the “real” world and drive our characters forward. Nova’s D&D character, Hunt, is determined to earn the trust of, and get closer to June’s D&D character, Awe, by shamelessly flirting with her. However, outside of the game Nova wants nothing to do with June, until things get a bit more complicated. June winds up experiencing new feelings toward Nova and Nova starts to slowly let her guard down and let June in. By the end of the story, I was left with happy tears, as the characters both got their happily ever afters.
One of the main reasons I really loved this story so much was how I was able to relate to both characters throughout the book, mainly June though. As someone who came out as bisexual later in life and who had a controlling ex, I could really connect with what June was experiencing in the story. I was also able to live vicariously through her (as I was already happily married to my husband when I discovered my bisexuality). I also really related to Nova and her neurodivergent mind. It was so neat to see her perspective on things in a way that I could connect to and understand.
Overall, this story was such a sweet (with some spicy mixed in) contemporary sapphic romance that immersed the reader in both the D&D game building and the “real” world surrounding the characters. If you love fantasy worlds, relatable and lovable characters, and all the geeky/nerdy things, then Di-Curious is for you!

I love a good queer Dungeons and Dragons book. I love that this book is about a person whose personal expression of identity and professional life is deeply connected to her D&D character and cosplaying that character. June is a well-fleshed-out person with insecurities and people-pleasing tendencies despite being a massive influencer due to her display and TTRPG games.
Nova (she/they) is a non-binary person with the opposite problem. They love doing behind-the-scenes work for fantasy worlds, such as writing books about D&D characters, and working on her craft by applying for an MFA program after their first book flopped due in large part to a certain influencer's review. Now, Nova wants to get revenge and what better way to work out her frustration with her former best friend, sometime crush and killer of her career than to play a character who will take down June's popular Bard character?
Things get flirty and steamy and life gets in the way, but this is a really good book about empowering your person to be their most authentic self, open themselves up to new experiences, and make choices that work for them rather than pleasing others.
If I had to nitpick, one thing that did not land properly with me was that the characters don't feel nearly thirty. If it had no reference to age, I would but them in their late teens or early twenties because they don't really deal with conflict like adults. Instead, they are cold to people without asking if they did something, assume something is malicious when they could simply ask the person, but simply do not. This kind of approach to friendships and interacting with people doesn't really sound like people who are nearly thirty to me but otherwise, this is a really fun book.

The moment I heard there was a new Sapphic Dungeons and Dragons book coming out I knew I had to get my hands on it. And freaked out when I got approved to read this.
This is by far one of my favorite books of the year that I have read. And it was an amazing last book to read for the month of June. I love everything in this book, yes there were times I had to put it down for a few hours but that was because I felt so much anxiety for these characters. I signed up for this ride and I was so happy with how it took me through it. Not to mention this isn't a fantasy Dungeon and Dragons book but it is about two people plus their table playing Dungeon and Dragons makes it so much better.
First off June and Nova are such amazing characters and watching the gay panic they were both having during this book sent me back into my own. So, overall I thought this was a cute book, and I was rooting for the couple by the end of the book.
But it started off rough, what with the "miscommunication trope" coming in writ large.
Also, as a D&D player, it's definitely more fun to play D&D than to read about other people playing D&D, but at least the game sessions added to the overall plot, and weren't just there for the sake of it. I do find it questionable for the DM to bring someone in for the sole purpose of
But the execution could've been a bit cleaner. For one, the narration was a bit too similar for the two characters. There were time where, if the chapters didn't say whose perspective it was from, I wouldn't have known based on the wording. At all.
The whole character of Parker was dumb and unnecessary. Like, it was fine for him to exist as an ex-boyfriend and existential dread, but he didn't need to join the D&D group, and he would've been kicked out after that first disastrous performance.
People talked in ways that sounded like therapy sessions more than discussions. And this is from someone whose actually had conversations like this, but is realizing how weird it would be to be an outsider on those conversations.
I was glad that secrets finally came out by the end, and everyone was on the same page going forward. Like I said, I was rooting for them, and I'm glad we got in a good place by the end.

I am a complete D&D newbie and only know about it from film and television.
When I saw that the author had written a sapphic romance about it, I had to sign up for this ARC.
I had heard a lot about her and this was the perfect opportunity.
I also fell absolutely in love with this cover from the very first moment.
The story also completely blew me away.
What made it so special of course, among other things, is that it moves in two different worlds.
The real and the wonderful, fictional and colorful world of D&D and its adventurous, funny, artistic and brave characters.
However, reality is written with just as wonderful characters as fantasy.
Especially the two MCs!
The story is told from June‘s and Nova‘s point of view.
The aspect of different sexual identities and rediscovering them, is another exciting aspect and is written very respectfully.
The romance between Nova and June, who used to be best friends at school, has a kind of second-chance romance that I have a weakness for and that made the whole thing even sweeter!
I also found it extremely hot.
I love well-written hot scenes that are connected to new, exciting experiences of the main characters and there are a lot of them!
It's funny, a little sad, emotional, adventurous, exciting and also enlightening in many ways.
At least for me! A great addition to lesbian literature for this year!

This book was sooooo cute! I loved that DND was used in a way that felt so life like. Who doesn't want their DND character to cozy up with their friend group crush? I also love that the characters are all adults well into their mid to late twenties and have their own lives. Also, they don't have it all together so it's nice to see that people's lives come together at different times.
I also really enjoyed that June (the main FMC) is doing some much needed introspection about her toxic relationship with her ex. She was also dealing with the whole growing up in a small town where religious pressures made her not realize that she was interested in anyone other than men. Thankfully this wasn't like a hit you over the head kind of thing in the book so that was nice. Especially since June comes to stand up for herself about not only her lovelife but also her career aspects too.
There was aslo the very funny portrayal of the ex's still being in the picture so I mean, glad they were both doing their own healing.
