In my defence, it’s in the name of science, but I don’t think the demon sees it that way. It’s a terrible idea, but it was either cage him or kill him, and I couldn’t stomach the latter.
Not after what I’d done.
I was raised to fight his kind, but something about my captive draws me closer, despite his sharp edges and cruel words. Trapped by my controlling uncle, I’m forced to run twisted experiments, letting the wicked demon feed on me.
The problem is, his bite isn’t painful—it’s addictive—and judging by the mix of hunger and hatred gleaming in his starlit eyes, I’m not the only one affected.
But when my worst fears come true, the monster doesn’t snap my neck like he promised—he saves me instead.
Now, I’m his prisoner.
With an agenda of his own, if he discovers the dark secret I’m hiding, nothing will stop him from finally taking his revenge.
Can I escape my captor before it’s too late? Or will he capture not just my body, but my heart?
Capturing Sin is a dark enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance, with fangs, tail action and a possessive demon who won’t let his woman escape his clawed clutches. Intended for mature readers. The Playing with Demons series is best enjoyed in order for the overarching story, but each instalment follows a different couple to their own HEA and can be read as a standalone romance. Sakura Black is a British author who spends her days pretending to be a sensible adult. Most of the time, she gets to write steamy fantasy and paranormal romance, often dreaming up wild stories about frightfully sweet monsters and the women they’re lucky enough to fall horns over tail for.
First you say that his penis is as big as her forearm, and I'm like okay that's not ideal but she's tiny so that's within the realm of possibility. And then you say it's bigger than his forearm and I feel like throwing up. He is seven feet tall!?! His forearm is well over a foot long, what the fuck are you talking about. And he's bottoming out in her, like all the time. At least recognize that's not possible.
This is the best way I can characterize this book. There's nothing egregious (okay this example feels pretty egregious) and it's not bad, but these things add up and weaken the whole thing. I really enjoyed this book at first, but by the end I was so checked out cause it just didn't feel real anymore.
I am so excited to announce that I have been chosen to be part of @sakurablackbooks's ARC team for "Capturing Sin"! 📚✨ Dive into a world of dark romance and supernatural intrigue. This is a paranormal romance between a former demon hunter and a demon that was captured in the name of science. The FMC was brought up to be tough but has past trauma from a family member. When stuff goes south at Hunter headquarters the demon saves her life instead of taking revenge on her. In this story the hunters are ultimately the bad guys. The relationship between Sin and Liliana was amazing. Who wouldn't want a demon like Sin in their life!

Review: this was my first time reading for this author. It is book #2 in the series, so maybe look into reading book #1 first. I rated it four stars because some parts were a little repetitive and hard to get through. Overall, I did like the story and how everything was wrapped up from beginning to end. The storyline between Liliana and Sin was definitely captivating, pun intended. 😜 I ached for Lili in certain parts of the book when she was re-living her past trauma, and for how much hell she went through. She got the life she deserved!!
“My captive set me free.” — the irony of this entire book. Golden. 🫶🏽

ARC Review: Capturing Sin Stars: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
“Capturing Sin” by Sakura Black is a gripping and intense tale that dives deep into the darker side of romance and captivity. Despite not having read the first book in this duology, I found myself thoroughly engrossed. The novel stands well on its own, providing enough context to keep new readers engaged without feeling lost.
The premise is immediately intriguing: a scientist has a demon locked up in the name of research, driven by desperation and guilt. The dynamic between the protagonist and her captive demon is electric, filled with tension and an unexpected depth of connection. This relationship, fraught with danger and desire, is the heart of the story, making it a great pick for fans of monster romance.
One of the standout elements is the protagonist’s inner conflict, torn between her upbringing to fight demons and her growing attraction to one. The demon, with his sharp edges and cruel words, is a fascinating character whose moments of vulnerability, particularly when he saves the protagonist, add a surprising twist.
The spicy scenes are well-written and genuinely add to the story’s intensity. The demon’s bite being addictive is a unique touch that enhances their interactions. The suspense of the protagonist’s dark secret being discovered keeps the narrative engaging.
Overall, “Capturing Sin” is a dark, captivating read that blends romance, suspense, and supernatural elements seamlessly. Highly recommend for fans of monster romance!
Thank you to @sakurablackbooks and @literaryinspired for providing me with an ARC to review!
4/5 🌶 5/5 ⭐️ Demon mmc with an interesting 🍆 Paranormal Romance Bit of a slow burn Br33ding Kn0tting Strong FMC Touch her and d!e HEA
I've been reading Sakura books for a few years now, and boy, does she do great PR reads she balances the plot and smut so well in her books and has you falling in love with the characters.
In Capturing Sin, you follow Liliana (love her name), who is a hunter following in her fathers footsteps who was the leader of an organisation who hunts demons. Liliana is a hunter who has been through alot at the hands of her uncle and Its not until one event changes everything for her and she meets Sin ( who by the way everyone needs a Sin in their lives) they have abit of a love hate relationship till the very last page but wow this build up with the storyline had me staying up till 5am to just finish the next chapter. This has a slow burn with some seriously spicy bits that have you second guessing if a demon with a barbed tail turned up if you'd really say no 🤣 Sin is a Possessive Alpha MMC who will do anything to protect Liliana and he has you felling in love with his spikey personality 😉.
I really can't wait to see what Sakura writes next. She's a great author who always surprises me with a great read.
This ended up being such an entertaining read. My heart broke for Lilliana with all the crap she went through. All the men in her life were horrible and put her through the wringer. Sinclair (Sin) showed her what a real man was despite him being a demon. The spice was spicing that for sure.
This was fun but not nearly as fun as the first one. And that all came down to Lilliana. It just got so tiresome that she wasn't listening to what Sin was saying, she just kept expecting him to kill her. So that pretty much colors everything and has her constantly thinking about running away. Which in and of itself seemed like a stupid idea. For multiple reasons. On the plus side, Sin had a lovely feral streak that we got to see sometimes.
Lilliana was raised a hunter. It's literally all she's ever known. Her father was the hunter prime and when he was killed, her uncle took over the position. And boy was he a piece of work. She never had any problem taking out any demon that she came across, and she was good at what she did. Until one night changes everything. Betrayed by her fiance and the rest of her team, she is left for dead. It was a demon that saves her life. Which ends up costing him his own. But after that moment she can no longer stomach the violence. Her eyes have been opened to the fact that not all demons are bad. A fact made even more apparent when she is transferred to the science department and is witness to far crueler acts done to helpless demons b y the humans. She does what very little she can to help the demons without getting caught, but now her uncle has her cornered. And she has no choice but to try and poison one of them.
We briefly met Sin in the last book before he kidnapped his scientist and fled the carnage. He ended up in the hunter's custody because he's been searching for someone. But the moment he laid eyes on Lilliana he knew she was going to be his. Just at the time it was more for making her suffer before he snapped her neck. But the thing with blood demons that Lilliana didn't know about was that continuous feedings will form a blood bond between the two. Oops.
From the start these two had a lot of pent up sexual frustration going on between them so it was only a matter of time before they caved. Even a bulletproof wall couldn't stop Sin from getting what he wanted. Yay tails and long tongues. When Rex and the others storm the compound Sin can finally capture his captor. And boy what fun that ends up being.
During the handful of days these two are together Lilliana feels safer than she ever has in her life. Which leaves her overwhelmingly conflicted because he's a demon, the enemy. But he also defends her and cares for her like nobody has ever done. She can almost taste the happiness were she to stay with him. But as she follows him around while he's searching for that missing someone, she very quickly pieces everything together. And knows she's doomed for sure.
I got frustrated (even more) with Lilliana near the end when she went back to her apartment because how could she not even think that her uncle would have been waiting for her there if he was alive?? Taken back to the temporary hunter HQ she gets to see even worse things waiting for her than she saw at the lab. But because of that she's finally made up her mind about many things and she's determined to go down fighting for her own beliefs.
I mostly liked how this one ended. Domesticated bliss doesn't really suit Sin, but I'm sure he'll figure out ways to keep it fun.
I am thrilled to be part of @sakurablackbooks's ARC team for "Capturing Sin"! 📚
Liliana is battling demons - literally and figuratively!!! She is a huntress, fighting demons to help protect humankind. And while the demons kill and leave a trail of destruction in their path, it is actually a human that hurts her the most.
After almost dying and an interaction with a kind demon, Liliana puts down her weapons and takes a position in the science department. Trying to find a way to repel a demon bite, she meets one of her test subjects, Sin.
Sin is a demon, with starlit eyes. He isn't like other demons. Is he a killer? Yes. Is he cruel? Yes. Does any of this deter Liliana? No!
I was gripped by this story as soon as I started. There is betrayal, hunger, lust, hurt, pain, grief, loss, danger, spice, morally grey MMC, touch her and die, enemies to lovers...everything I love in a good book.
I went on a journey with Liliana while reading this and what a journey it was! I devoured this book in under a day. I couldn't put it down. Liliana is determined, kind, and strong. She has been through hell and decides like isn't going to break her. She holds her head high and stands her ground. She is magnificent.
Sin is a killer, a demon. He is possessive and he knows what he wants. And he will stop at nothing to get it. He has great banter with Liliana and he is very protective of her - even when he wants nothing more than to snap her neck.
Do yourself a favour and go on the journey of Poison and the Parasite - you will not be disappointed. If monster smut and a good story is your thing, download this on KU form 27th June 2024.
So I purchased Hellish Witch thinking it was the starting point of Sakura's Black series Playing With Demons...so after that descovery I had to start from the begining. And OMG is the ride worth it.
Book 2 of Playing with Demons is a hidden Easter egg in Book One Take Me to Hell. I urge you to read closely and you will notice recurring characters. Capturing Sin follows Ex-hunter turned scientist Liliana is a pariah of her function. After being saved by a demon during a bloody night; the huntress starts to question everything around her.
Events of seeing her ex-fiancee choose another huntress over his future bride results in her calling off their engagment. Being saved by a demon that sacrfices himeself for her has her dealing with the drawback of hunters thinking she is not worth her valor. That fact that her uncle is pushing her passed her breaking point.
Enter the demon Sin. While searching for someone Sin is captured and an experiment with Liliana bloodletting for him. After the raid of the compound from Book One, they escape.
I love the interactions beteen Liliana and other characters is something that has stuck with me. I love the way she fights for demons and has compasion. The fact that she fights for and against everyone that uses her as a punchingbag.
From the moment Sin and Liliana lay eyes on one another the chemistry is unparallel. Each heroine and demon play off one another is a match made in dark romance heaven.
Book Two paves the way to the underworld and I cannot wait to FINALLY read Hellish Witch.

After a life-changing demon hunt, Liliana decides to switch to the research area. Here she meets the blood demon Sin. Forced to undergo live testing, a torture begins for both of them that exceeds the limits of being trapped.
I loved Sin. The mocking, smug bastard found his own way to torture Liliana. Things are getting pretty hot and bloody in this test lab. lol I liked the dynamics of this story. Highly recommended.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
As a member of Sakura Black's ARC team, I had the opportunity to read the second part of the Playing with Demons series. Although this book has two new main characters and can be read as a standalone, I strongly encourage you to read them in order, for maximum understanding and enjoyment. This time, the book is also of the enemies-to-lovers genre. The main characters are Liliana - a huntress who, after a certain incident, no longer wanted to hunt demons, and Sin - a demon who is one of the research objects in the hunters' secret laboratory, who is assigned to Liliana to conduct experiments. When the hunters' base is attacked and the demons are released, suddenly Liliana finds herself a prisoner of Sin, who has many devious plans for her. The plot is dynamic and intriguing, full of unexpected events and occurrences, and a large number of hot scenes. Of the two characters, I liked Sin more - a possessive male who, when he saw Liliana for the first time, decided from the very beginning that she would belong to him. As for the huntress, her character was also created as a strong personality, but I had the impression that her thoughts were sometimes repetitive, which is why my rating is 4 stars.
A lovely pair of sunshine eyes changes everything you thought you knew.
Liliana has spent her entire life either hunting monsters or being abused by another type of monster. With one single event everything she thought she knew was now in question.
Now working in the research lab to her own detriment she is forced to feed a blood demon while hoping one of the concoctions she has injected herself with will make humans immune to the demons bite. Every day she finds herself more interested in this captivating demon who is aptly named Sin.
Through a series of events Liliana suddenly finds the roles have been reversed and she is the one being held captive. Will Sin be able to give her something she has never seen?
The banter between Liliana and Sin is absolute gold. The poison and the parasite end up in a situation they never expected but could it just be exactly what they have needed?
This story is dark and spicy. I will most definitely be reading book 1 and waiting for the next one. You will be all her for the Sin in this one.
Rating: 4.5 Tropes: Enemies to lovers, Captive romance, Touch her and die, Demons, Spicy,
I’m thrilled that I got the arc for this book because I loved the first one in this series. It was such a good paranormal romance between Liliana, a demon hunter turned scientist due to an almost life-ending demon hunt, and Sin who is a blood demon that was captured for testing. When things go wrong at the Hunter headquarters Sin saves her instead of killing her.
I loved Sin and all the mocking things that he would say it almost reminded me of Tairn from Fourth Wing. I loved the relationship between Sin and Liliana and the commentary they had between each other.
I wasn’t able to put it down! It was such a good story would recommend it if you love captive enemies to lover romance. It releases on June 27th on KU! Thank you @literaryinspired for this ARC read!
This story is the epitome of enemies to lovers.....a hunter/"scientist" and a demon. Sinclair(Sin) is a strong wise cracking demon with a hidden agenda. Liliana is a huntress whos eyes have been open to the reality of demons....they are not all evil. Although Sin is a prisoner, he is not the only one. She is forced to experiment on demons and is not allowed to leave "the fold". Despite the heavy vitroil between the two, Sin sees what is being done to Liliana. He also sees that she is not the evil hunter that most demons sees hunters as. She is someone that is just trying to protect innocent lives. This was a good story. There was action, heat , angst and light humor. What would have made it even better is if it was written in 2 POV. There are, for me, a couple of questions left unanswered.
🔥 Enemies to lovers 🔒 Captive romance 💥 Touch her and die- No Joke he actually kills someone for touching her.
This book was an ARC read for me. And I can tell you that this book was fantastic. The story, charakters of Sin and Liliana, where breathtaking. First he was her captive and then she was. And without either of them knowing it, despite their differences, they started to look at each other differently. In the world so different from ours, two completely different races had come to a crossroads. Liliana, who was abused by her own family and friends, it really breaks your heart when you read this and then there is Sin. So different, so dangerous and yet she feels safer with him than with her own people. I really enjoyed this book, couldn't put it down, just had to finish it. Page after page filled with tension and so much warmth. This book is not for the weak among us. I didn't expect this book to affect me so much. So for me, this is one of the books I will definitely read again. Highly recommended.
***I was thrilled to receive an ARC for an honest opinion.
First off, the editing was well done. If there were any errors, I missed them because the story was so engaging. Nothing took me out of it. I will be rereading this book, maybe I’ll go through it with a fine tooth comb next time lol
Sin and Liliana were a fantastic couple. They drew you in and made you care about their journey, both separately and together. The sexual/romantic tension between them was great. I was left wanting them to be together, but not to the point of frustration. It was well paced.
I was absolutely smitten with Rex and Zo from Take Me to Hell, but I think Sin and Liliana are now my favorite couple. The banter, the story line, the challenges they faced…all of it was written perfectly.
I am very picky about owning more than one copy of a book, but I will definitely be purchasing a paperback to add to my shelf! Well done, Sakura Black!!!
This was much better than I expected. A lab tech is tasked with injecting herself with various substances, thought to be harmful to demons. Then she allows herself to be food for the demon in order to infect him with the drug. Apparently, it's easier than directly injecting a sedated demon, but whatever. The demon has its own plan which is not known until midway through the story. By then the two have formed a bond which has its own consequences. The story has a unique plot, the two main characters are interesting. It has two villains, one minor and one major, which is nice and a twist at the end. My only complaint is the ending. As all of the books in this genre are required to have, is a style of ending I don't care for. I admit I did enjoy reading it and I'm not a "demon story" guy. Ms. Black is a talented writer. I read this because I read an earlier story of here (yes, demons were involved) and thought I'd try another.
I was so close to giving the book a 5 star review until it got to the 70% mark.
I loved the whole story and I was a sucker for Sin and Lilliana’s interactions. These was definitely a enemies to lovers romance where he falls first and hard. Sin was a complete sucker for Lilliana and very much spicy toward her. But when it came to the 70% mark, the book started to feel a little bit rushed.
I wished we had staid in certain areas a little longer, because it give the impression that they were some areas that weren’t entering thought out and were a side story- even though they weren’t- that the author overlooked until it was time to write it. So I do think the story needed either a few more pages or just a sequel in general. But apart from that, I loved it. Sin was just 🧑🍳 💋.
This book might not be your cup of tea if you aren’t interested in this type of kink though: Breeding Primal
First off please read the trigger warnings, this book is dark. That being said, I really enjoyed the story as it takes you on a journey of a young woman fighting her own demons and struggling to come out on top. The darkness is part of the story/journey and that my friends is actual life. I love the tie in to "Take Me To Hell". You don't have to have read the first book, but if you did, it seamlessly references parts and I liked that. I couldn't put the book down because I had to know what was going to happen next. I will add this book to my collection of Sakura Blacks books that I re-read from time to time as it is an interesting story with plenty of heat. If you don't like erotic heat, don't read this book. If you do, I imagine you will not be able to put it down just like I did. The only thing I'm sad about is that now I have to wait for the next one.
This was such a fun book. It took a bit to get into the writing style for me but it was worth it. Liliana was a trained fighter following in her father’s footsteps as a hunter to kill the demon race that was popping up in the world. They had killed her father so of course she saw them as evil murders, until one raid went particularly bad and she was dying, left behind by her fiancé and her team a demon came to save her & heal her. This makes her question everything she was trained for, for she was trained to see only monsters & to kill. Her life was violence, especially at the hands of her cruel uncle. Now that she demoted herself to the scientist squad she comes across another demon who will have her questioning her life more than before.
I am thrilled to be part of @sakurablackbooks's ARC team for "Capturing Sin"! 📚✨ Dive into a dark paranormal romance where a young woman keeps a demon locked up in the name of science. But when her worst fears come true, the demon saves her instead of taking revenge, and now she's his prisoner. This second book of the series can definitely be read as a standalone - in fact I was actually wondering if it was even in the same world as Take Me to Hell until I was deep into the novel. Capturing Sin brings the enemies to lovers trope to the extreme! The human hunters have no tolerance for the demons and have almost no understanding of their physiology or that they have a developed society. Liliana grew up as part of this hunter cult and has suffered so much at the hands of her sadistic uncle. She is forced to be part of an experiment with a captured demon, Sin, and the attraction between them causes her nothing but torment as she tries to make sense of everything. Liliana was a somewhat frustrating character at times, but she did come through in the end! An intense, entertaining addition to the Playing with Demons series!
TikTok made me read this. And I’m kinda glad it did.
The plot was interesting, and even though the spice was minimal, the story was still good on its own.
Liliana begins to have doubts about killing and torturing demons, after one died saving her life. So she ditches being a hunter and becomes a scientist instead, doing her best to avoid actually using the demon captives as test subjects.
Liliana begins to have feelings for Sin, a demon captive and used for her “testing”. His pleasurable bite might have something to do with it, who knows.
Turns out, the demon she’s been testing on let himself get captured in order to find out where his brother is. Unbeknownst to Sin, his brother was the demon that saved her life. Dun dun duuuun.
I read this in one sitting, and I was pleasantly captivated.

I know there’s a book before this one but I was lucky enough to be chosen for an ARC review for this book … and … oh. My. Gods. Capturing Sin is a dark enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance, with a possessive demon who won’t let his woman escape his clawed clutches. It was definitely hot and unique, I’ve never read anything like this and I now know what I’ve been missing! This book is exactly what I needed to get out of my little reading slump. It was so unbelievably good. I’m so glad that even though this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This book follows Liliana who is a huntress until something happens on a hunt that changes her perspective on demons. Liliana goes into research 🔬 following her inner turmoil with everything she's ever known about demons. Liliana is tasked with finding a deterrent for demons should they bite a human. This is where she meets Sin (Sinclair) the demon she holds captive until he escapes one day. Find out when the captorer becomes the captured!
Wow!! Couldn't sleep waking around 2am and read this. Sooooo ❤️❤️❤️ it and was yet another fantastic read from this talented author. It has everything within, angst, heaps of emotions and that wonderful 🌶🌶🌶🌶 between our two main characters. Loved Sin and the way he turned Liliana's world once their roles reversed. You'll have to read for yourself, how their story unfolds. I didn't get much sleep after finishing, with just too many thoughts on these two and the fantastic heated 🌶🌶 moments they enjoyed. 😍😍 This is book two in a series of 3 and had loved the first. So just had to continue and now eagerly awaiting the third book!! 🤩🤩
Sometimes I wonder what the readers of the likes of SJ Maas, Rina Kent, Opal Reyne, KA Knight all feel like when they can say they read their work when they were just baby indie authors. But I just KNOW Sakura is going to break booktok one day! Capturing Sin doesn’t disappoint, I’m convinced at this point Ms Black could write about ugly garden gnomes and it’d still manage a 5⭐️ The tension, the plot, the emotion, the bad guys, THA SPICE 🤌 I could kiss this author. I want to breathe the same air as the brain who wrote this. If you loved the Duskwalker series, were an OG reader of Gena Showalter, then why aren’t you reading this? Seriously
This was pretty good. The spice was ok when it happened but I like my books a little dirtier. I did like the story in this one though especially the fact that the demon killed in the first chapter turns out to be the brother of the demon she falls in love with. They’re are some brilliant one liners in this book and you really do hate her uncle and ex. Best thing ever was them getting their comeuppance . Especially as she’s the one to take down her uncle and injury the ex. I liked that she is free thinking enough to get out of what is a hive / cult mindset. Worth a read just don’t think I would read twice
