This is a pretty generic high school romance story featuring a rich but down to earth FL who chases after the poor and aloof ML with everything she's got. However, I still enjoyed it as there were lots of sweet moments. Eventually the author overdoes it on the fluff though, and it became too much in their post-college adult days imo. My interest completely waned by the extra chapters when the author decided to dedicate a large number of chapters to their kids, which I couldn't care less about. However, the journey of their romance through high school was super cute and definitely my favorite part of the story.

I really liked the FL. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to give 100% effort to get it. She flirts very openly with the ML and even publicly admits that she's chasing after him in front of their whole class. Here are some examples:

"Although I'm not interested in the title of 'School Beauty'-"

Pei Chen's gaze dropped to her, only to see a mischievous smile curve at the corners of her lips as she leaned in closer, her playful voice whispering near his ear:

"I'm quite interested in the 'School Heartthrob, though."

------

"I originally planned to give you a blueberry-flavored lollipop."

She opened her empty palm and smiled at him:

"But I realized I had already finished it."

Pei Chen: ?

While he was still puzzled, the girl suddenly placed her hands on his shoulders, stood on her tiptoes, and softly pressed her lips to his cheek.

A warm, soft sensation spread across his skin.

His heart skipped a beat.

Pei Chen froze in shock as he felt her lips slowly pull away. A faint blush appeared on her cheeks, and she smiled brightly:

"So, I can only give you a blueberry- flavored kiss."

Then she looked at him with a smile:

"Pei Chen, do your best tonight."

"No matter the outcome, you're the best in my heart, unmatched by anyone."

After she left, the corridor fell silent. Pei Chen stood there, his lowered lashes trembling slightly. The sweet scent of blueberries still lingered at the tip of his nose, gently tugging at his heart.

-------

Pei Chen looked at her drowsy expression, his voice hoarse. "You were so tired. Why didn't you go home first?"

She rubbed her eyes, her voice soft and still tinged with sleepiness, a faint dimple appearing as she smiled at him.

"Because I was waiting for you. I didn't want you to go home all alone."

Pei Chen stared at her, his eyes darkening like ink, and he felt his heart melt under the weight of her simple, caring words.

The main obstacle for their relationship is the ML's insecurities about the difference in their family situations. Her family is a super wealthy business family and she's never lacked for anything, while the ML was abandoned by his mother as a kid and has to take care of his disabled father all by himself by making ends meet through various part-time jobs. But still, the FL is able to break down his barriers and bring light into his life, which I thought was very beautiful.

In the past, he only felt inferior and insignificant, walking in the darkest places, alone. Yet, in her eyes, he was meant to be brilliant.

Even if he thought he was at his worst, in her eyes, he always seemed to be the best.

She didn't know that he was becoming better because of her.

Because of her, he began to look forward to and love the world a little more.

Like I mentioned earlier, the best of the story was the high school portion. That part gave me all the feels. Things got less interesting after they get together, and I can't tell you how tired I became of reading about how passionate the ML is in bed and how late they stay up doing it every night. I don't know why the author fixated on this so much in the later chapters but it was way too much.
