"I said that back there cuz you taught me that you gotta take care of yourself or the people who care about you will all be sad."
Absolutely amazing volume!
I was a little nervous about how I would feel after having binge-read the previous volumes in a few days and if I would still love the series just as much as I did a few months ago when I could NOT binge it once again. Silly me though! I should have never been worried in the first place because I loved these characters just as much as ever!
Learning about Rintaro and getting to meet the REAL him was everything! But oh my goodness, I never expected it to be so emotional too! He's very different because of his background and was touched by how much he cares for his family! I honestly was thankful for how the volume unfolded and for seeing resolution by the end because, like Tamon and Utage, I WANTED to see our guys continue to sing and perform together. So knowing I'm not going to have to stress about the next volume release just to see what happens is a blessing because of how this volume ended! LOL!
I will briefly mention that one of my favorite parts was seeing Tamon have two "unhinged" moments and that inkling of romance because it is always funny but also surprising!
Overall, I really really loved this volume! I can't wait to see what's in store for everyone!
This series keeps nearly slipping off my bubble, but I have to admit it has the tenacity of a cockroach in a radiation suit. Just when I think I’m officially bored to death with it, it remembers to get good again.
The first 50-ish pages of this, dealing with Rintaro quitting F/ACE and turning out to be a total otaku? Snore. I mean, they make a go of things with the in-universe anime, Sushi Musume, but they don’t do enough with it.
Outside of an excuse to get Utage in a maid outfit and have Tamon go crazy over it (maybe less forcible confinement, Tamon?), there’s so little reason for this to exist. At least, that’s how it looks.
Then Rintaro’s sister, Rinka, shows up, who has decided to act out against Rintaro joining a boy band by becoming a delinquent. Except she is hilariously godawful at it. Her outburst of vulgar language is dead funny.
This is followed up by a string of great gags, from Utage’s teacher trying to solve problems by stalking and Utage herself trying to help Rinka see the appeal of idols, which goes about as well as you’d expect, though it lands a belter of a cutaway joke.
The story is underwhelming still, but this absolutely makes me laugh when it gets a gag right and those moments are worth my continued readership. It’s way down there on my list, but it’s still there. I just wish it wasn’t such a long walk to reach the good stuff.
3 stars - slog of a start that picks up the pace once Rinka shows up. This isn’t as good as My Special One, which has similar subject matter, but it keeps hanging in there.
Rintaro and his sister Rinka story but integrated into the others for a seamless experience.
Recap: Rintaro needs to quit because he’s an heir to a major company. His sister went delinquent. Utage plans to convert her to FACE fandom. She ends up forced on a group date and the guys all go to save them.
I’m not really into idol/jpop/kpop culture but I LOVE THIS SERIES. It’s so much fun and so hilarious. Tamon is really showing us his growth in this volume. It must be love that’s making him so brave lately! I’m all for it!!! Go on, my anxious brother!!!! haha
For me, this is one of the better volumes of the series. I was worried it would be too wordy with Rintaro being labeled as a chatterbox, but it wasn't too bad. The side story for him and his sister integrated right into the ongoing story, and even flowed perfectly into Tamon's part and triggers. I laughed out loud when Tamon with his bag head came rushing to save the day followed by Ori with a traffic cone head. (≧▽≦)
There's not much Tamon and Utage time, but what they do get is mostly upgraded from usual. It appears as though a few certain someones may be starting to accept their true feelings. Yay! \(๑╹◡╹๑)ノ♬
And, as always, it's hilarious that Utage perks Tamon up by using his fandom merch. He's down on himself so she loads him up with "Tamon *is* right!" "Tamon is Everything" "GOD (Tamon)" so he can't contradict himself or fall into his usual deep depression with self-degradation. (人*´∀`)。*゚+
Surprisingly really loved this one and thought it had a nice rhythm with humor that hit at the right moments, and it appears we get done character growth as well. Hopefully, we keep moving forward from here.
Focusing on Rintaro in the volume was so fun. I love seeing him geek out about his obsessions.
Utage has legit nestled herself into a nice space in the F/ace group. Although she’s closer to Tamon (and they’re slowly falling for each other) the others treat her well and like a person vs just a fangirl. Seeing the, all interact is fun.
Rinka was the cutest delinquent ever and her reasoning behind her delinquency was valid but also a bit funny. I’m glad her big bro came to save her at the end and they made up.
Although not much happens in the grand scheme in this volume, I like the pace that the storylines are going and the inclusion of side characters. Volume 8 left on a nice note with no type of cliffhanger so I wonder what’ll happen next volume.
Thanks so much to Viz for the DRC!

So many random things happened in this volume. It's fine, but I was hoping for more between Tamon and Kinoshita. Still a very very slow burn story. I feel like I say this every volume, but I would love it if the burn started burning a little faster. I did still enjoy it though and it made me laugh a few times.
(Maybe I would have been more invested if I wasn't also watching a live stream waiting on V and RM to show up... Eh.)
Thank you to VIZ Media for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oof yeah, I don't know about this one. Rintaro is my least favorite of the boys, I guess lol. Rinka was cute and her interactions with Utage was enjoyable, but I felt like we already did this plot with Natsuki. So, it just felt stale and predictable at the end of the day.
We also have like zero development with Utage and Tamon besides the glorious Yandere-hara moments and except in the closing pages, so that was a bit a bummer.
Yeah, this is my least favorite volume so far. But I hope since we now know everyone's "B-Side", maybe we can shake things up now.
YAYYYY NEW VOLUME :3 nothing much happened, honestly. i was going to give this 3 ⭐️ but i think i'm too emotionally attached and i'd feel bad doing that 😭
ok so i ship ori and rinka so hard guys AND IM STILL BETTING ON ASUKA AND NATSUKI (my endgame fr). deadass LOVE rintaro so much, hello loser nerd trapped in a hot body who wears glasses, pls marry me. keito's bday being 10th oct bcs he's a 10/10 HELL YEAHHHH 🤭 we got progress w utage and tamon!! yayayyayayayayayayayayaayy
This feels so over the top because each the member are weirdos in different ways. I still don’t get Stan culture. When the guy she was like I devoted my life to being a fan, the guy hitting on her was like isn’t that kind of sad… and I was like yes yes it is. But I have to immediately change my thoughts cause I WILL NEVER TAKE A MANS SIDE OVER A WOMANS even in fiction.
The team’s starting to come closer and it’s all thanks to Utage, I think her influence is making them become better friends. Tamon being proactive and trying to make Rintaro stay in the band, I also like Rintaro’s sister’s personality, maybe Utage and her will become good friends. I want to see what happens next, I also love how Tamon hugged Utage when he thought she was in danger.
Sadly, I am getting a little bored of the series. Now that we have met all the boys and their back stories, I hope we can have some more fun. There were still some great moments in this volume that could have been expanded more to make it better, in my opinion.
yay!!! now the books are starting to get so much better. I adore this plotline of having the sister and brother reunite mentally and become familiar again. And I adore Tamon still. I just wish he could stop acting a bit yandere-ish?
I am utterly in love with Rintaro being an Otaku and I like the jokes surrounding him basically just being really autistic and people mistaking that for him being cool when he doesn't speak for ages and stuff. I also adore his sister trying and faling to act out. Just a great manga, I am a fan for life
