Grimdale Graveyard Mysteries #2

If You've Got It, Haunt It

Rate this book
Nothing is permanent. Not even death.

I’m Bree Mortimer, and I can bring ghosts back to life.

The hot-as-Hades Roman Centurion in my bedroom is living proof that I can raise the dead. Now all I have to do is stop him swimming naked in the duck pond and trying to stab anyone with a man bun, and my life will be perfect.

Hah. That’s a joke. My life is a spooktacular failure. I’ve got two ghostly lovers who are desperate for me to bring them back, too, but if I don’t figure out how to control my new magical powers, there could be grave consequences.

And that’s going to be difficult since the only person who can help me was ripped to pieces by a monster who can’t possibly be human. Some dark power is after resurrection magic, and if I don’t figure out how to stop it, I’m next.

Luckily, with a sword-wielding psychotic ex-ghost, a sarcastic royal rake, a cinnamon roll Victorian gentleman, a sadistic bat, a vampire-slaying bookshop owner, and the village undertaker on my side, I stand a ghost of a chance. Right?

Bree and her ghostly men are back for another spooky adventure in, If You've Got It, Haunt It, book 2 of this darkly humorous cozy fantasy series by bestselling author Steffanie Holmes. If you love a sarcastic heroine, hot, possessive and slightly unhinged ghostly men, a mystery to solve, and a little kooky, spooky lovin’ to set your coffin a rockin’, then quit ghouling around and start reading!

4.5 ⭐️ for this second book in the series. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first? I think this is due to the return to SH's developing the characters emotionally, and I see this as one of her strengths.
I really like our MFC. She is flawed and wants to improve herself whilst understanding that that's no easy task.
Can we talk about that cliffhanger? Argh, straight onto the next in the series.

This one was harder to get through it wasn’t as thrilling as the first. The ending was what saved it and the cliffhanger killed me. It was a decent book, but it was just a little rough to get through more boring than the first.

I was so looking forward to the next Steffanie Holmes book! Steffanie Holmes is one of my favorite authors. She mixes nice plots with humor, romance and wonderful characters. The first book in this series, a spin-off of my favorite fantasy series ever, was lovely and I was therefore really looking forward to this second book. I was even happier when BookSprout notified me that I could grab a digital arc of the book. Today it was finally time to dive in.

What I really loved about this book is that the guys all got a little more emotional depth. In the first book they were mostly funny and really focussed on the heroine. In this book there is also a little more room for their personal struggles and their personal emotions. At times I really had to blink my tears away. Especially Edward goes through so much in this book and that really made me appreciate him a lot more.

I was also very positively surprised by the plot. I of course don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone else, but this book breaks a little with the pattern the books in this world have been following so far. That did mean that I shoved to the edge of my seat while reading and I was really surprised that at some point I had finished the book already. A cliffhanger? A giant cliffhanger? Really? I now really can't wait until the next book is released.

Which is partly because I'm really excited to see Bree grow more in future installments. Because not just her guys have quite some emotional struggles, Bree herself is also battling some demons in her head. I really like how well thought out her emotions are, how realistic her feelings are. Despite the fact that this story is of course far from realistic. And because of all those emotions Bree becomes a beautiful character who's both strong and vulnerable.

In a way I hope there will be more books in this world for ever but I'm also very curious to see how this story will eventually end.

I just finished ‘If You Got It, Haunt It,’ the thrilling second installment of the Grimdale Graveyard Mysteries series by Steffanie Holmes! Overall, I had such a blast with this book, but I have to admit, one of the ghosts really got on my nerves. I was getting a little fatigued reading about his ridiculous antics. I get it—his behavior fits the storyline. Still, after a while, it just felt like too much of the same.

But let’s talk about the spicy scenes! They were such a delightful surprise, keeping me on my toes and fully engaged. The three ghostly characters lent an incredible touch to Bree's journey, providing some much-needed support and making the story even more compelling. And the action! Wow, it was so gripping that I couldn't put the book down.

And then, just when I thought I was diving into a satisfying conclusion, it ends on a cliffhanger that made me shout, "Noooooo!!!!!" Thankfully, book three is already waiting for me, and I can’t wait to jump right into it! What a ride!

Sadly, it's not as good as the first. Pax came off a bit too childish in a lot of scenes, and the whole Dani thing felt like unnecessary drama.
But I still enjoyed reading the story overall, and I'll definitely read the third one.

This is an adorable morbid rom com.
It’s spicy.
My favorite line is “I guess I’m a slut for ghosts” I’m like.. same girl. Same 😂
It’s super cute, I’m excited to see the next one.
This one also leaves you on a cliff hanger 😭

A Fantastic Read

As book two in the series, you should know up front that none of the books in this series read well as a standalone story. You won't fully understand what is going on and why, unless you read them all in order. That being said, this is a fantastic continuation of the story. It's exciting, and hilarious. It's an absolute MUST READ story for fans of Paranormal and Supernatural Romance, as well as Murder and Crime Mysteries, Magic and Fantasy Fiction.

Not as good as the first book. But I must carry on the series to find out what happens to Pax!!! 😱 I'm just going to leave this quote here... it made me smile, and is how I feel most days 😂

The cliffhanger at the end is evil.

The book is good, but I like the first one more. This one has a lot of drama between Bree and Dani and between Bree and the boys which is too drawn out. I like the way it characterised especially Edward more but the drama feels so unsatisfying because it doesn't get resolved or even close to resolved and just drags on.

I like the villain and the way this book introduced a lot of lore about Bree and about ghosts.
Going to read the third book now, because like I said the cliffhanger was evil.

WHAT. THE. FUCK?!

First of all, how fucking dare! That cliffhanger ending?! RUDE

Second of all, I was honestly not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did, because I've read series kind of like this, where the stories kind of fall flatter and flatter the longer they go on. Were there some thing in this I could have done without? Yes. I don't think the stuff with Dani really made sense, and I feel like there could have been a different way go get to the point of the climax, but that's just me personally. The conflict did make sense in act 3, but I feel like it could have been come at from a slightly different angle. Also, Edward was just a tad too broody for me, but he kind of makes up for it in the third act as well.

Thirdly, the plot twist at the end, if you're paying attention to the clues throughout the story, will be predictable but also not, because it happens in a way you don't expect. No spoilers, just know that what you start to think as you move through will most likely be both right and not.

Lastly, we get to see Ozzy for a brief moment! But now I absolutely need to know what he did to scare the others so much, even though he's just a sweet lil ghost bat who helps save the day in the final act.

Guess I just have to wait a few months before reading the last book AND FINDING OUT WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENS NEXT. FUCK

Poor Bree. Rounded up from a 2.5. This book actually made me anxious, and not in a good way. The MMCs were chaotic for no good reason and haphazardly kept messing up her life and getting her into trouble. They had the emotional capacity of 5-year-olds, I don't understand how they lacked the self-awareness to see how ridiculous they were. I found the book entertaining, but I don't think my blood pressure can handle a re-read to prepare for the third book (and yes, I'm reading it because I'm slightly invested now and hoping poor Bree catches a break) so I guess I'm going in blind.

I'm in two minds about the second volume of the Grimyard Graveyard Mystery series. If you've got it, haunt it has some good points that might lift this series from a simple Reverse Harem Paranormal to a more interesting Horror Fantasy in future novels - at least the 3rd book -, but several others had me wonder if 'Grimyard' is about to fall into the Reverse Harem pit as well as in the overemphasising of emotions, turning them cringe instead of captivating.

If you've been the lucky recipient of an ARC for the 1st novel you'll have to start with four chapters in book 2 that were originally the last four. They have to do with the discovery of Brianna's powers. As in: multiple. Shè affects the ghosts around her in more ways than one - the Moldavite was just a little helper to boost her - including ressurecting them in as of yet undiscovered ways.

With Pax suddenly a living, breathing 7-foot Centurion, Bree is about to enter a period of both ecstasy (in the bedroom), and big, big trouble. It isn't just Pax' first century weird Roman ways that cause her issues with the police (a sword carrying oaf must be Vera's murderer, so think the cops) and her best friend ("Pax will become evil"... and several other nasty comments), but Vera's murderer turns out to be hunting resurrection witches like Bree and their Living made friends.

On top of that Prince Edward is acting weirder, more morose and moodier than ever, Bree is swamped with all kinds of jobs and she has a hard time dealing with her own feelings, that predominantly revolve around fear. Fear for what she can do, should do, might do wrong, fear for love, fear for the ghosts, fear for her father, fear for her future. Fear.

While Edward's behaviour is 'explained' through his own perspective and Brianna's fears can be understood up to a point, they took up a rather large part of the book. And in many ways we're a bit... much.

And then there was Bree's best friend, who is in love with one of their old bullies and "finally belongs". Again: while a fear for being called a freak again is understandable by anyone who has ever been bullied, I was quite angry with the way Bree was treated. These girls were portrayed as best friends forever, with Dani understanding and supporting Brianna's not just seeing ghosts, but befriending them, as well as her blossoming powers. And then a few weeks later and one book further she acts exactly the same way as their nemeses from High School did?

Seriously?! If THIS is your BFF, then you'd better seek further, because adults shouldn't act this way. Not to mention the fact this came rather out of left field, madam author.
I've basically been sighing in annoyance most of the book, while I'm sure all the moping and altercations were set up to create the good kind of tension and further along the story. Imho it didn't. At all.

Then there's the fact that Edward and Ambrose aren't so much looking forward to a second chance at life, living new adventures, or becoming famous poets/writers, but that they're only thinking of diving into Bree's bed with real life hands. Thàt is what makes them jealous of Pax and pushing her to evolve her magic. I am well aware of the fact this genre has many a bedroom scene with plenty of details (though this one seems to be quite vanilla) to boot. That's fine with me.

But what's not fine, is if this is what's in their thoughts. That means the story will most likely start to revolve around that particular goal: intercourse. And getting the boys Living to show more intercourse. It is exactly what I dislike about many a Reverse Harem Paranormal. I initially thought, based on book 1, this series would focus more on the paranormal and connection. This bit points towards a different direction. I can only hope I'm very very wrong, because I will read book 3. For just one, very particular reason...

That reason is that we've figured out from If you've got it, Haunt it that Bree isn't the only one who can interact in such a special way with ghosts (more Pax's running around? ) and that she has very dangerous adversaries as a result, including an infamous historical serial killer. This could be interesting for future books and the last two pages - especially the last few sentences - definitely point towards plenty paranormal fighting and (forced) power growth. They actually made me swear out loud and look to read further.

Last, but not least: we finally know who the "Demon" in the attic is, though I suspected all along something to that extent. But said fuzzy demon immediately plays an important role in saving Bree's life as soon as he's introduced for real and I can only wonder how he'll be incorporated later on.

As said: a mixed review. Good things, bad things. It's up to you if you're letting those things mentioned discourage you, or if you don't mind them at all.

For me the end result comes up to a confused 3 star review.

Another murder in Grimdale. And this time, it could be connected to the very strange magic that hums in my veins.

If You’ve Got It, Haunt It is the second book in the Grimdale Graveyard Mysteries series by Steffanie Holmes. This series is a surprising little find- in a great way. The story/series is a spooktacular romp! A fun paranormal mystery series with plenty of supernatural elements, a sizzling reverse harem/why choose romance between a human and three ghosts, humour, banter, suspense, tension, intrigue, drama, angst, emotion, action, adventure, danger, and more.
After the dramatic developments at the end of Book #1, where Bree brought Pax back to life- yep, you heard that right… alive, as in no longer a ghost. So now she’s on a mission to uncover what Edward and Ambrose’s unfinished business is so she can attempt to bring them back to life too. If only they knew what their unfinished business was. And it would help if she understood how she managed to bring Pax back in the first place. Was it a one-time fluke? Or is there more to her ‘abilities’ than even she knows? Add another couple of murders to her problems, and the fact that she might also have a target on her back, and things take a gripping turn.
So you might wonder why four stars instead of five… Well there were a few issues with the editing which pulled me out of the story from time to time. Typos which were missed. Then there was a little too much cheesy/adolescent antics/humour from the ancient ghosts. Pax in particular drove me crazy at times with his complete disregard of the fact that things have changed since he was alive 1000 years ago. But overall, these issues didn’t detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the story.
This ends on a major cliffhanger, so I couldn’t wait to dive into book #3, ‘Goul As A Cucumber’ to discover what happens next.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Steffanie Holmes.

SPOILER-FREE WITH AN ANALYTICAL REVIEW AND ESCAPISM REVIEW.

Series: Second book in what looks to be a trilogy
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Tropes: ‘forbidden’, reverse harem, ghost romance
POV: multiple, first person (between the four main characters)
Spice Rating: 2.25, full scenes.
Triggers: MMCs are all dead, murder and blood.

Bree, Pax, Edward, and Ambrose are back with a scarier mystery! Starting where the first book ended, Pax and Bree have done something that could change their relationship forever. Meanwhile, someone is killing people who can see ghosts, and Pax, Edward and Ambrose are going to do everything in their power to make sure Bree is not added to the body count while trying to figure out their feelings at the same time.

Analysis Review: 4.75 stars
The only nitpicky thing I could find in this book is the slight repetitiveness of the characters. There were similar fights between Bree and the MMCs and a back-and-forth between them that didn’t feel like growth or banter, but the same thing I just read with different words. Otherwise, I couldn’t find anything else to fault! Bree had more time separate from the three MMCs, with friend drama adding some more depth and an extra flair to this story. I found the mystery more interesting than the first, especially with the murders feeling so close to Bree with her ghost-seeing abilities, which we get more detail about as well! The relationship between all four main characters was changing – for the better – and we got more insight into the dead MCs than I thought we would, who have secrets of their own.

Escapism Review: 5 stars
I liked the second book more than the first, not going to lie. With the background of each character out of the way in the first novel – kind of like a pilot episode – this second book is open to more action and growth than the first. A little spicier and with a lot more emotion, I read this in one sitting. I’m pretty sure I finished it at like, 3am. Can’t recommend more, it was exactly what I needed to forget about everything around me.

Quite an annoying book to read. It would be a 1 star, the funny moments made it endurable

Bree has had years to hone in on how to make her life easier eg a Bluetooth headset to pretend to take "calls". Pax and Edward barely listen to her boundaries (only when after the worst possible thing happens). She has few expectations/rules and doesn't enforce them. She could've rewarded them with good behaviour with treats they want to smell or even just holding hands. You don't just hand a man everything on a platter and then let them walk all over you, just because they're hot and like to stand over you while you sleep. All of her decisions shows how immature and thoughtless she is, and it is difficult to find her likeable.

Pax was my favourite in the first book. He was entertaining at first, but showed little change throughout this book. Yes he is ancient and from a different era, which is why she should've addressed the problem before releasing him to society. His he-man act got old pretty fast. I now always expect the worse when it comes to him and I'm quite disappointed.

Edward is still the selfish, spoiled brat from the first book. He understands what he is and still refused to change. I have no idea what Bree could possibly see in this man besides his appearance.

Ambrose and his damn walking stick... His tapping gives himself away, so why not have him hold your shoulder or hand when around people. And the event towards the end, absolute dumbest thing I've ever read.

Bree Mortimer has no idea how she did it, but the proof of her newly discovered power to bring the dead back to life is in her bedroom. Pax is a centuries old Roman Centurion. She has seen his ghost and talked to him since she was a child, but having brought him back to life she has a very difficult problem. As a ghost he would shout and threaten to kill anyone who upset her, but now when he threatens to kill someone with his sword, he can actually kill them. Having brought one of her ghostly men back she is now also dealing with the other two; spoiled, sarcastic Prince Edward and her blind Victorian adventurer Ambrose. They want her to bring them back to life, too, but she isn't even sure how she brought Pax back. To make matters worse, Bree and her gorgeous Roman warrior will be investigated by local law enforcement when they discover the gruesomely murdered body of a village shop owner. Bree suspects that there is more to come, unfortunately she is right.
All of the characters are well written and compelling. Bree and her ghostly men are fun, funny, and unique. Their interactions are sometimes hysterically funny, steamy and always entertaining, I love them. Action, humor, bloody murder, magic, steamy interactions, and unexpected twists that nearly knocked me over. I loved this book and can't wait for the next one. Definitely a must read, and I highly recommend it.

Steffanie Holmes and her compelling characters are both Wicked and entertaining. I just can't get enough!

In this second book, we learn so much more about Bree's 3 ghosts and with that knowledge comes tears and heartache yet Bree is a light of hope in their otherwise sad world. We also learn Bree seems to be in a battle of her own mind. She learns more or less what she really is and it's a lot to deal with. If anyone can beat the odds it would be Bree, she just needs to stop running long enough to face her reality. She has a great support system to utilize with Mina, the county medical examiner/best friend and her 3 ghosts.

I won't spoil anything for any of you loyal readers, but with knowledge comes villains, creeps and things that go bump in the night and this author is a pro at keeping us on our toes. AND.....just when we think we have something figured out she does a sharp twist and with that said that is exactly the cliff hanger we experience. One drastic jump off a cliff that feels like your going to heave waiting for the eventual plop that doesn't come to the next book. Yes, we knew it would have to be something drastic to pull us back in for more, yet we scream, whine and wail because we have to wait. Don't worry, I have complete confidence in our writer that it will be well worth the wait, even though our sanity teeters on the edge. Another great series by an author who may not have her eyesight but see's better than most. Absolutely loved it~

If You've Got It, Haunt It - Haunted Rom Com Sequel

✨ She can see ghosts
✨ 3 Ghost MMCs
✨ Why choose?
✨ Friends to Lovers
✨ Mystery
✨ Paranormal

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

The fun from "You're So Dead To Me" continues, and honestly, it just keeps getting better. Pax, the hot Roman ex-ghost, is now alive, and his attempt at navigating 21st-century life is absolutely hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions.

We get a further glimpse at Edward's character, and it was so refreshing to realize he's not as shallow as he pretends to be. And we also discover so much more about Ambrose, which was a delightful surprise. I love how the relationship between Bree, Pax, Edward, and Ambrose develops. It's complex, engaging, and utterly captivating.

It was also fun to see how the side characters kept appearing, and we get little snippets of their backstories too, adding so much richness to the world. While juggling so many characters, the plot still remains perfectly on track, and I loved how well-balanced it was.

And what can I say about the spice? It got spicier than in book 1! The tension and chemistry were off the charts. Spooky paranormal romance vibes all the way, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I finished it in less than 24 hours because I simply couldn't put it down. Highly recommend!

Note: Ends in a cliffhanger.

Page turner does not do this book proper justice. It is a great continuation of the first book. There is the same Witt with a generous helping of darkness and wonderful helpings of romance and smut. It is so strange this world created for us with love and emotions between an ex-ghost and Bree's two ghostly lovers. There are so many elements to this book tat it keeps you so on your toes as you can't help yourself but too race through to the end where you find that you are both right and wrong if you follow the hints and your imagination. It is the growth of love, understanding and friendship on one hand, the loss off true friendship and a realization of Bree's position on the other, and murder and mystery to bring us all along such a fun/tragic/happy and sad. This book is so well paced, and is a great cliffhanger into the next in the series. So much has happened and gone wrong for Bree and her friends in this book that need to be righted or finished off in the next stage of this journey.

I hope that Steffanie has many more parts to the Grimdale Graveyard Mysteries as I, like I suspect you, will fall in live with these stories and will not want them to end anytime soon.

Enjoy.

Ghostly Adventure . . .

Bree Mortimer has discovered that she can somehow bring ghosts back to life through resurrection magic. Pax, the Roman Centurion currently standing in her bedroom, is proof of that fact. She is not afraid of him because she has known him as a ghost for a long time. But his temper-driven sword-wielding can now do some real damage in the physical world! So controlling her magic has to come first before she brings anyone else back. And then a shopkeeper is murdered in a horrible way which brings her unwelcome attention. Combined with having a dark power wanting to possess her kind of magic, there are all sorts of troubles surrounding her. And then another murder occurs! Can her ghostly team help her do what she needs to do to prevent the worst from occurring?

The reader will love this story and its fun, quirky characters. (I had to chuckle a little and am willing to bet that the cliffhanger haters are fun to watch at gift-giving times when they have to wait a little before they can open their packages. The wait can be the best part when you have something wonderful to look forward to! Take a deep breath and smile! Be excited – it won’t be long before the next book arrives. And you know it will be worth the wait!)

I have been waiting for this book!!! It picks up right where the first book left off. I loved the mystery, suspense and spice!! The characters were well written and were complex and had amazing chemistry. The world Steffanie Holmes created was amazingly detailed, the plot was exciting, original and was a page turner. This is the second book in the Grimdale Graveyard Mysteries and ends on another cliffhanger. I’m excited to see what happens next.

Bree is not normal. She is exceptional, witty, an adventurer and has a special gift, she can see and speak to ghosts. Her 3 bff’s are ghosts and are funny, intense and Bree’s defenders. They will do anything for her. I loved the push and pull Bree was experiencing with her bff’s.I loved the growth each character went thru in this book. I loved the 3 bff’s. They were possessive, funny, and loyal to Bree and the friends. I loved the adventures and sleuthing. I felt like I was there right next to them trying to figure things out. I can’t wait to see what happens next!!!.

I am a fan of Steffanie Holmes. I love whenever there's a new series, or another book is released.

The story's premise is still interesting, and the cliffhanger will make me want to read the next book (even though we all know it'll be fine).

I still can't mesh with Pax, though. He's a Roman and was a general or something to a legion - yet, he acts like he doesn't understand instructions or refuses to listen. His persona is just really hard to believe. He's 'lived' (in the afterlife) watching people and eras go by - and he's not paid any attention to anything that has changed? Him being a giant oaf seems misplaced for someone of his past.

There was little of Ambrose. Edward was more interested in also being turned flesh - but then was going on about being left behind? That confused me. I wasn't sure what to make of his 'secret' because at what point did he find/hide it and why? Because he didn't know about finding the unfinished business possibly helping to aid in becoming flesh before then.

I'm still curious about where the story is going, but have questions.

Received as an ARC.

Bree has somehow brought her Roman centurion ghost friend into the world of the living. Now what? Pax does not exactly fit into the present times, but, oh boy, does his verpa fit! Now that her other two ghosts can also interact with her, she is not getting much sleep. But Edward has grown morose and secretive and Ambrose is encouraging her to practice her magic so that she might make him corporal, too. Bree is scared of what she did to Pax and not sure she is willing to take a chance on losing Edward or Ambrose if things go wrong. Then there is the matter of the horrific murder of a shopkeeper, and the resumption of guests at the B&B to worry about. Throw in Dani's apparent defection to Alice's arms and her assignment as social media director for the cemetery, and Bree has just about reached her limit. Then a second gruesome murder occurs with a historic killer's MO... is Jack the Ripper back?

End on a cliffhanger, so be prepared to curse. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Meh.

The first book really, truly shined. The second lacked the same refinement of humor and dialogue and the plot was drug along in a nonsensical way that sadly alludes to many, many more books spread over a very short timeline.

I would personally rather a dedicated, finite, purposeful storyline versus an ongoing, no-end-in-sight narrative.

Still love Edward; his background development was the best of the bunch this round. I like Ambrose and Pax, too, but Edward is the tortured soul with the most promised progression.

Oh and Ozzy. He’s just an adorable, freaky little ghost bat. All three ghost men are terrified of him and he’s barely in the story, but he is a delightful, unexpected addition that I love.

And can we address that cliffhanger?

Not my favorite. We could have had a few more paragraphs. This left us in no man’s land; like it cut off the end of a chapter rather than concluded a sequel.

I also can’t help but feel like this would make an adorable paranormal TV series. A raunchy one, but an adorable one.

“I chased pleasure because I knew that my demons would eventually overcome me.”—‘If You Got It, Haunt It: Book 2’ by Steffanie Holmes

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We are back with Bree, Edward, Ambrose, and Pax as they set on a mission to learn more about Bree’s growing powers and solve yet another murder! But this time the victim may have been the only person in the world to give them the answers they need.
THIS SERIES IS SO FUN!
I recommend it so much to anyone looking for a genuinely fun time with a cozy spooky story that doesn’t take it self too seriously and has just the right amount of spice, humor and wit to keep you thoroughly engaged. There are a few things here and there at times when I’m like “that was just silly” or I catch a teeny tiny inconsistency—because you know me lol—but nothing has put a damper on the truly entertaining experience that this book offers.
Also just so it’s known Pax is my favorite ghost boyfriend hands down!
I’ll be starting the third one very soon!

OMG, the cliffhanger in this one. Seriously, Steffanie Holmes? Are you trying to give us all heart palpitations? Thank the literary gods this is a completed series because I would be dying to read the next one if I had to wait.

Now, about Dani’s character. I’m not sure I like her at this point—she’s got that whole "I'm not like other girls" vibe that’s starting to wear thin. But hey, at least the remaining characters are still top-notch. Even Edward, who I initially thought had the personality of a damp sock, is growing on me. Maybe he's like a fine wine, getting better with age—or just less annoying with more exposure.

Pax’s struggle to join modern civilization is hilarious in a not-so-hilarious kind of way. Watching him fumble through contemporary life is like watching a cat try to use a touchscreen—endlessly entertaining and slightly pitiful.

And let’s not forget the spice! Holmes really kicked it up a notch this time.
