This is an excellent book full of common sense advice. I especially love that it gives you permission NOT to be a people manager.

I'm DNFing it at 14% in because I was reading for a professional development goal for a job I am leaving and losing my access to O'Reilly's ebook subscription.

A great book about leadership and management for the beginner and also for the experienced manager! Part 1 is like an introduction about what is a leader and showing tons of examples of behaviors and characteristics of great managers. The most interesting part for me was Part 2. Part 2 is like a cookbook where the authors discuss a variety of important leadership/management topics like meetings, hiring techniques, coaching, engagement and retention, feedback, difficult employee situations, delegation, performance management, influence and more.
