Allie is a great heroine. I love her quirkiness and her old soul. She reads great old books, listens to old songs by People like Nina Simone and Billy Holliday and watches vintage movies. I just can't get enough of her. Jason is a great partner. Not romantic at all. He is married to Victoria who is suffering from cancer. All the characters are so well drawn you feel like they are real people. Even the bad guy was a tragic character at the end. It Was very symbolic to me. Both their Fathers having such a profound effect on their children. I am just fascinated. But it is gory and a little gruesome. But I am on to the next one!
it was an interesting one, wasn't too sure how I felt about this one. It's not bad but not a wowza. Kinda felt like filler, or like it's building towards something.
and good gosh do I worry about Jason lol
onto the next book because the way it ended...well I NEED to start the next one now.
The Face of Evil is the second book in the Allie Bishop FBI Mystery Thrillers by Eva Sparks - and again, with this series I was plunged into a gripping blend of psychological suspense, high-stakes investigation, and emotional undercurrents. Across the series, we follow Allie Bishop, a sharp, determined FBI agent whose intelligence is matched only by her resilience. Each book delivers a self-contained mystery whilst weaving in an overarching storyline that deepens Allie’s personal journey. Ms. Sparks excels at layering clues, along with a few red herrings, ensuring that the final reveals are both surprising and satisfying. The cases are dark and often chilling, but the human connections - between Allie and her colleagues, her adversaries, and even herself - gives the stories heart. The writing is vivid, making it easy to visualize the action, yet still intimate enough to pull you into Allie’s inner world. This is perfect for fans of fast-paced thrillers who also appreciate character-driven storytelling. Happy Reading…
3.5 rounded up. I have enjoyed the Darcy Hunt series and loved when she started a whole new series. The first Allie Bishop book was amazing. I waited and waited to get this in at my library. I requested it a few times but they weren't able to get it. SO I went ahead and ordered all the available paperback copies off of Amazon.
I like that Allie is a newer agent and a less developed character it feels like we will get to grow with her. The fact that this book could easily be a stand alone story but there is a thread of her background with her missing mom and serial killer dad. I can't wait to see where this series goes.
Following Allie and the Tacoma Field office was quiet the read of book 2. This one follows a story of a killer who is cutting mid aged ladies faces off. Will you find out why? Will you find out who? Will Allie find out more about who her mother was? Or what happened to her mom? Allie is in a car accident and shot out. Who could be trying to hurt her? And she is sent to the Boise Field office after she finds the killer of those women. And her partner opens up to her about his last partner. I enjoyed this book. I’m giving it 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ highly recommend if you want to be on the edge of your seat.
The Face of Evil(Allie Bishop FBI Mystery Thriller Book 2)
OMG!!!!!!!! This book was amazing and scary. Allie has her hands full this time. A serial killer is killing 50 something women and cutting off their faces. Plus her partner is being kind of flaky, disappearing, not telling her what he is doing, and there is a big secret about his former partner. So she is all over the place but she finds the answers in the end. All but one, who ran her car off the road when she was in Seattle? I can't wait to read the next book.
This book grabbed me from the very first chapter and didn’t let go. The suspense and dark atmosphere had me hooked, and I found myself wanting to keep reading just to see what would happen next. I loved how Eva Sparks built up the tension and made me question every character’s motives. There were a few moments that honestly gave me chills!
What really stood out to me was how unpredictable the story felt. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, something unexpected happened. It kept me on my toes the whole time, and I love that in a thriller.
The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I wished there was a little more detail about some of the characters’ backgrounds. A few scenes felt like they moved a little too quickly, and I wanted more time to process the emotions.
Overall, it was a gripping and intense read that I really enjoyed. If you like psychological thrillers that keep you guessing and give you goosebumps, this one is definitely worth picking up!
So this story has so many components. Each page is a surprise. Between the characters and situations, this is a book not easily put down. This story has captured my attention from the beginning and I hated to turn the final page. I can't wait to start on the 3rd book.
Really enjoyed this book. It was well written and kept my interest from the start of the book. Allie and Jason are looking for a killer and have several set backs. There's plenty of action, a good mystery, and Allie is starting to look into her mothers disappearance. Can't wait for the next book.
Allie is doing well in the Tacoma office. She and Jason are kicking but and she's close to her grandmother. She's just closed a difficult case and is being loaned out to the Boise office. She has someone gunning for her and hasn't figured out why. Love this series.
What a different kind of story—really quite creepy, like something you’d see on Criminal Minds! It was so good that I found myself wanting to read every free minute I could. I was thoroughly engrossed, and that ending—well, I just have to start the next one straight away.
The book is more thriller than mystery. To me a mystery invites the reader to solve along with the detectives. Here there are no suspects to sort through. The story is intriguing and the characters interesting. There is a lot of exposition, a LOT, so sometimes it drags - but the plot carried me along. In looking forward to the next installment.
It doesn't stop! The nail biting moments. The human moments. The ever engulfing you moments. Such a good read and it leaves you wanting to keep going. Thankfully, there's a 3rd book on the way. Thank you Eva Sparks.
I enjoy getting to know the characters of this series. Eva Sparks has brought them to life in a way that makes you forget they are fictional. I am hooked and already to start reading the next book in the series.
As a new Special Agent, Allie continues to work in the field and learn from her partner.
Slowly she begins to open herself up to trusting others, as her partner’s wife undergoes chemotherapy and he begins to reveal facets of his devastating past.
Allie was still a rookie when she and her partner Jason were called to the scene of a woman's body being pulled from the river. A body with a partial face. That's just the beginning of the chase for a serial killer. Hard to put down.
Another satisfying story featuring Agent Allie Bishop . Agent King and his wife Victoria are also a big part in the evolution of these daily FBI life and goings on very satisfying
Another 4.5 Not only are these storylines engaging, and riveting, but she also writes so beautifully and pulls you into the scenes in a way that feels unexpected and romantic; especially for a suspenseful mystery book. Great cliffhanger on this one that made me instantly fall into book three.
I loved her storyline, her details that she puts in the books and how she developed her characters plus I also love the fact that she doesn’t have a lot of swearing in the book or if any at all and no sex thank you very much for that. Just a well written book.
Allie and Jason work to figure out who is murdering women and taking their faces. Allie and Jason are both keeping secrets from one another. Allie alarms that her life is about to change once again.
I started reading Eva Sparks with the Darcy Hunt series and have continued with the Allie Bishop series. Heart pounding and also emotional, this is a true psychological thriller. Loved it
Allie brings another action packed book with deepening relationships and exciting twists. New secrets begin to reveal themselves, making this an excellent read. Sets the book up for a sequel, but is a complete read in itself. Excellent.
Love Allie Bishop stories! I just can't stop reading, once started. Eva Sparks writes great stories, you just want more. Waiting for the 3rd book, guess I should of read a little slower.
Allie's past will always intertwine with her cases. This book has a good balance of getting to know Allie and Jason. The end shows there's much more to learn.
to put Eva Sparks on your to read list. That is if you're into mystery, suspense, and thrillers. She will have your mind spinning. Great characters and storylines.
