Rating 2.5

The premise of the story really pulled me in. I was also quite impressed with the way the author had written the character development. A character that I didn't like at the beginning was gradually portrayed with progress by displaying the understanding of their mistakes and their dedication to amend the wrongs that they had committed.

All the characters' personalities shone, I enjoyed the banter and interactions between them.

However, even though I enjoyed the drama and the characters I had to bring my rating down due to the writing itself. There were too many inconsistencies, and grammatical errors that brought me out of the story. Such as name duplications or mix ups that caused me to get confused and question what was going on and caused me to feel less engrossed in the story. I'd recommend the author hire a diligent editor to assist with this.

Also I found the ending to be underwhelming and rushed considering how long the book actually was.

I feel the author has great potential for introducing great characters and drama for future stories. I would be eager to read more of their work, if they're able to follow my feedback above and work more attentively on their planning when writing future stories to prevent inconsistency.

Overall an interesting and fun read. Just a shame that the inconsistencies and grammatical errors bring you out of the immersion.

Extremely poorly translated from Japanese I think? Like a first draft that’s never seen editing. Continuity errors everywhere. Name errors everywhere. The characters had potential but weren’t well thought out. It’s like a dramatic telenovela so you expect the “omg so not realistic” twists but they just got to be really old over time. I have it 2 stars only because I think someone had an inkling of a decent story and it was either massively screwed in translation or just badly written without edit by a 14 year old or maybe AI written?

This book was read on the GoodNovel app. It was my first and will be my last time using this app. It was a costly mistake… It ended up costing me about $175 to read this horrendous book by buying “chapters” because I was nearly 700 chapters into it when I discovered it has 1187 chapters. The chapters are 4-8 pages long depending on font size.

I’m pretty sure this book was written by either multiple writers, a single writer on drugs, or with the help of AI. Somewhere in the 500’s chapter, the book literally skips ahead by 4 years in the middle of the chapter, written as normal text/font without any separation of the paragraph or timeline, and just says “four years later”…

With over 900 chapters of bullshit that includes: several characters falling into a coma once or multiple times, every character taking turns getting slapped in the face or slapping others in the face at least every other chapter, “prodigal” 4 year old twins that would put Albert Einstein to shame, a constant pissing match (cat fight) between female characters about who has the most money and VIP cards to the fictional version of stores on Rodeo Drive, and not to mention a main character that develops a personality disorder half way through the story line. All that just to have the ENDING wrap up in TWO chapters on a cliffhanger.

After the amount of money I spent on this book, about 600 chapters in, I felt compelled to finish it because I felt driven to leave a review as a warning to others. Don’t waste your money or time on this garbage.

DNF at like "chapter" 200. Was just over it.
There are so many continuity errors, parts missing, or parts repeated.
Maya is horrible, Sharon and Shelley are horrible, and so is Wilhelmina. I was already so over all of their drama.
Why didn't she block all these people?! Honestly.
And why every time they wanted to be upset with her (for finally saying something back to her or honestly just because of her existence), they'd always say, "Mia Bowen!" instead of just Mia?

Honestly, I could go on and on.
I would've loved to see Maya's downfall when they reverse the adoption, and she finds out that Mia is the REAL sister, but cbf with all the drama and other shit to get there.

This book had so much potential; however, it fell short or should I say LONG!! This book just keeps going and adding more and more people. I just gave up at around chapter 700 and it goes to at least 1,000. I don't know if it got messed up in editing but so many issues; there's names misspelled, and some sentences don't make a lot of sense. Honestly you kind of like the characters and then you kind of don't they are that extreme. Some people mentioned that it was a translated story and that's why it's all messed up but I don't know.

This story was captivating in the sense that I devoured it because I wanted to know what happened next, but it wasn’t very well written. I understand that it’s a Chinese book that’s been translated, so that could be one reason why, but there’s a lot of unanswered questions, loopholes and TONS of typos and errors. Despite how long and dragged out the story was, the ending felt rushed and it was ok but not very satisfying. Also, the synopsis mentions she ends up with ten brothers, but that doesn’t happen. It’s just the 6.

I stopped reading at chapter 700. I was doing OK until the writing went off the cliff or jumped the shark (so to speak). I was WTH when a 4yr old gets on a plane unaccompanied to fly to an island but when her twin brother is an awesome computer hacker I just stopped. No I’m not reading anymore because it is too stupid. Granted it was crossing the line way before I stopped at chapter 700 but I thought I didn’t have anything better to do so read further. Now it is too stupid to read.

Gah. Where to start. First this book was way too long. I gave up less than halfway through at chapter 700. This is a typical poorly translated chinese novel (I think) where everyone is over the top. And the kids talk in complete sentences and are world class hackers at 3 years old. The plot had a glimmer of potential but it went off the rails somewhere before chapter 100. I should have given up then....

OMG - DNS - Don’t even try to start .. this is poor translation. This needs to be edited and corrected with an Editor … there is so much that could be eliminated… author repeating so much. I understand with I. Other cultures the customs and concept doesn’t work or translate properly but omg … have someone check your work please.

I gave this novel 2.5 stars because it went on forever with repetitive drama without a satisfying ending.

-DNF on September 8, 2024-

Read Up to Chapter 82 on a random webnovel site and just never got back to it since I just picked it up from all the ads on social media talking about it 🤷🏽‍♀️ not the greatest book but entertaining to read if you’re not serious about it or a grammar police.
There’s many, MANY, errors and continuity issues that come from poorly translated texts. So honestly, be aware if you want to pick it up for those sleep-deprived night vibes.
