They have to build a set together, but will they also build a love that lasts?

After a bad break-up left her confidence in tatters, Rose is struggling to paint anything new. But when her best friend needs help and asks Rose to use her artistic abilities to get her out of a stressful work situation, she agrees. While Rose has never designed a set before, she is willing to do anything for her closest friend, even though it means facing her fears.

Hoping this new medium will help her reconnect with her creativity Rose is cautiously optimistic about the new project, until she finds out who her partner is. Mortified to realise she’ll be stuck working with the handsome stranger she had an unfortunate run-in with only a couple of nights before, Rose feels even more pressure to make sure the project is a success.

Phillip is looking forward to the opportunity to put his skills to use on a new kind of project—building a set. He’s shocked to realise the set designer is the woman from the other night, but determined to make her see he’s not the man she thought he was.

Will working to meet their deadline bring the guarded artist and the people-pleasing carpenter together, or will their partnership end in disaster?

Built to Last is book 1 in the Riverbend Romance series. Set in the fictional English city of Riverbend, these stories have plenty of heart and heat.

ARC reader for “Built to Last” by C.G. Murray and Love Notes PR
**Spoiler Free**

4.25 star rating (rounded to 4)

Tropes:
* Reverse Grumpy x Sunshine
* Strangers to Lovers
* Forced Proximity
* Painter/Carpenter
* Chronic Illness Representation
* Miscommunication
* Third Act Breakup

“Built to Last” follows the journey of Rose and Phillip as they navigate collaborating on a project which requires forced proximity and a tight deadline.

Rose (an artist) has to navigate falling back in love with her career and passion following the break-up from her narcissistic, insecure ex whilst living with a chronic and at times debilitating illness. The character development of Rose feels authentic to real life, with the experiences of her chronic illness being related to those of the author. Personally, I would have preferred to see the character be slightly more rational at times, seeing the wider scenario rather than assuming the worst. The character of Phillip (a carpenter and builder) is well developed, with him being an ideal counterpart to Rose. His kind nature, patient personality is well portrayed throughout the book, with Phillip being one of the more relatable MMC’s I have come across regarding the likeness to real life.

The pacing of the book at times feels slightly slow, with the latter third feeling drawn out and as though the author was “ticking a box” for the third act breakup/miscommunication trope, which personally felt unnecessary. Despite this, the plot was enjoyable and well considered, creating an enjoyable, easy to read book.

Overall, for a debut novel “Built to Last” has is a strong book; with likeable characters, relatable experiences/themes and an enjoyable plot.

The story of Rose and Philip is an absolutely adorable one. I found myself giggling, smiling while reading.

While Rose hasn’t exactly had the easiest life, something about meeting Philip has her feeling right! From the last tub of mint-chocolate chip ice cream, to a warm pastry from Snugg - you get the warm and fuzzies when reading about how these two just work!

From the tropes of found family, illness, narcissistic ex and building your confidence - this book warmed my soul.

Thank you so much C.G. Murray and Lovenotes PR for this e-ARC opportunity. I can’t wait to tell my friends to read this one!

This novel provides a fresh, empathetic perspective that’s rare and beautifully executed. And, from the very first page, Built to Last captivated me entirely.🎨🔨

As someone unfamiliar with chronic pain and hypermobility, I found the book incredibly insightful, shedding light on experiences that are both challenging and deeply human.✨

Rose, an artist struggling with hypermobility and chronic pain, is a wonderfully complex character. Her resilience is depicted with sensitivity, making her journey compelling and real.🎨

Her journey through self-doubt and her struggle with her past relationship's impact on her confidence is both poignant and enlightening.

Phillip is a skilled carpenter with a heart of gold. He is the epitome of sweetness and consideration- making him the perfect match for Rose. His thoughtful gestures and his unwavering support make him incredibly endearing.🔨

The book's meet-cute is charming, and the slow-burn romance between Phillip and Rose is beautifully executed. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their relationship grows in a way that feels both genuine and deeply moving. Every second between them felt special.✨

The book's pacing and length are spot-on, allowing the relationship to develop naturally and keeping readers engaged throughout.

This book is an incredibly touching read that balances romance with an insightful look at living with chronic illness. It's a must-read for anyone who appreciates a well-crafted love story with depth and emotional resonance.🎨🔨

Tropes: you can expect
🎨 Grump (she's the grumpy one) x sunshine
🔨Forced proximity
🎨Meet disaster
🔨He falls first
🎨Chronically ill FMC

built to last will have a spot in my heart for being the first arc i’ve ever received💛!! so thank you so much to (author) and (pr) for selecting me so so much!! as an arc reader (so cool to say haha) i got to read the book before it came out!! It was released just over a week ago on August 21st and that was such an incredible day!!

now on to my review of the book>>>
if you weren’t sure already, Built to Last is a romance book that takes place in a fictional town in England, so already it’s so much fun to read because personally i love the English accent and i could picture it in my head as i read! it follows two characters by the name of Phillip (carpenter) and Rose (artist). Rose and Phillip have an intense moment at a grocery that leaves them both feeling attracted towards one another but also leaves them never wanting to face the other person again, however as readers we all know that won’t happen haha!! the characters unfortunately end up having to work side by side, in closed areas on an artistry project that requires both a woodworker and a painter along those lines they can’t help the initial attraction but as strangers who knows what the other person is thinking…

this book was a very short and quick book and overall memorable however there were somethings that weren’t for me and that’s okay because i know another reader will love what i don’t💛

i am not sure if instant attraction is really my thing but it felt as if they fell for each other very quickly but also didn’t at the same time because as we read each characters thoughts it seems as if they had many chapters of miscommunication but it could be that i just did not read it that way🥹 but i truly loved the real-world topics that were included in this book such as school safety, anxiety and disabilities 🫶🏼🫶🏼!!

overall i will say this is a wonderful debut novel and give the author so much props for putting her heart into this and putting it out for the world to read!! if you want a good feel, quick and short read, that includes dual povs, forced proximity, strangers to lovers and he falls first trope, then this truly might be for you!!🫶🏼🎨🪚💖

💌 Grumpy x Sunshine
💌 Forced Proximity
💌 Meet Disaster > Meet Cute
💌 He Falls First.

This was my first time reading C.G Murray and I’m obsessed with her work. I loved this book! I’m glad I got a chance to read the ARC of this beautiful story. The chemistry between Rose and Philip is strong and so unreal I’m obsessed!

Rose Miller, a strong Independent woman is a very talented painter. She has faced a lot in her life because of her family and her ex boyfriend. She dropped off her dreams and career because of them and they were never involved in her life. Her parents never encouraged her to pursue her dreams and passion or even helped or supported her when she learned about her chronic illness. Rose always stood strong for herself. Her best friend convinced her to take the job as the painter in her upcoming project. As she started working on the project she realised the importance of art in her life, she understood the connection she has with art as it was not only her hobby but was a connecting piece in her life. While working on the project together Rose and Philip (a hired carpenter) got to know about each other. Philip was inclined towards Rose and was giving his best to know more about her. He left no stone unturned to make Rose comfortable around him and others. He made sure that everyone else knew about Rose’s chronic illness and provide her support. I loved the way Philip stood her her everytime, he never pushed her for anything and just made sure that she is not ignored at all. He is a sweetheart.
I really enjoyed this book. It had me smiling throughout and I loved the whole sweet interactions between the characters.

Thank you so much Love Notes PR and C.G Murray for this amazing ARC!❤️

I had the pleasure to read the ARC of this novel and I’m so happy to say that I really loved it. This is a wonderful debut and I can’t wait to see more from this author.

This story follows Rose, who is getting over a bad relationship and trying to find the passion for her art again. The other main character is Phillip, a successful carpenter/handy man whose life is going great, but he would love to find a partner to share it with.

From the first sentence I loved Rose. She truly lives up to her name - she’s a sweetheart but has thorns on the outside to protect herself. I really loved watching her and Phillip get to know each other and start to fall for each other. They end up working together on a project for Rose’s best friend, and the way they started becoming friends was so sweet. The tension and build up was also really well done. One of my favorite parts was seeing Rose find herself again.

I also loved the side characters and setting. Aria was especially funny and I loved Violet!! I wish I could visit Snug in real life!

Overall, this was a really cute rom com and a great debut! I had such a fun time reading this. It’s perfect for curling up in the fall with a soft blanket and warm drink.

Thank you to CG Murray and Love Notes PR for the arc. This review is my honest opinion.

ARC review:

This book was just amazing, I enjoyed reading it so much, and I would just like to say thank you to @lovenotesPR and the author C.G. Murray for giving me the opportunity to ARC read, truly appreciate it!

Reverse grumpy x sunshine will always be one of my top fav book tropes, and this book portrayed it so beautifully between Rose and Phillip.

The chemistry between Rose and Phillip is just so beautiful. Rose is an independent woman you struggles with a chronic illness but still pushes through and comes out strong. She has faced many other difficulties in her life but I love how resilient she is and never backs down.

Phillip who is truly a sweetheart is simply the best. Though Rose may be grumpy he is still patient with her and so understanding. He doesn’t push her to do anything that makes her uncomfortable and is always there for her in the littlest way.

I definitely recommend this book, and I hope you enjoy it! 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Such a sweet, warm, contemporary romance! Rose is an artist struggling to find her confidence in painting again after her ex boyfriend put her down and made her feel as if it were just a hobby & not a way to make a living. She is a complex character, with chronic pain and fatigue that affects her daily living. Phillip is a carpenter focused solely on his work and helping raise his nephew.

Tropes in BTL:
🎨 He falls first.
🎨 Grumpy (her)/ Sunshine (him)
🎨 Golden Retriever mmc
🎨 chronic pain/fatigue representation in a mc
🎨 Slow burn, but open door spice
🎨 He nicknames her Raincloud. ☔️
🎨 Coffee shop visits & vibes.
🎨 Text convo’s on page

I really enjoyed Built to Last. Phillip was absolutely adorable, and seriously the perfect man. The only thing missing for me to bump up my 4 star rating to 5 stars would be that it was a bit predictable & I felt the fmc was a little dramatic with her reasoning for the 3rd act “breakup?”. While I understand how her past trauma played into her feelings during that scene, it just didn’t quite land for me.

Thank you Love Notes Pr & C.G. Murray for allowing me to read the ARC! I truly enjoyed it!

I’m here for a reverse grumpy x sunshine trope and this one is beautifully done!

Phillip and Rose are such an adorable and soft couple and ! I really loved how Phillip was so supportive and understanding and also loved Rose’s character’s development and her personality as well.

Even though this is a slow burn, the pacing was on point and there was never a dull moment. If you’re looking for a lighthearted and fun romance this one is for you.

I can’t wait for future books about other characters because they’re honestly all so genuine and lovable.

It was a cute, fun, short read. It is always fun getting to read a reverse grumpy x sunshine. Phillip is so supportive, patient and relatable! While Rose is skeptical to fall back in love after a break up with an insecure ex and worried about starting a new work project. Their story spans over a couple months which I enjoyed. The ending felt a little dragged on and cliche but overall I really enjoyed the book. Thank you to LoveNotesPr and C.G. Murray for the e-arc!

I'm so grateful I was selected to be an arc reader. This book was so good. I was a tiny bit nervous in the beginning as it's not in my generally preferred style, but I was not disappointed. The characters were so relatable and so well written that I never wanted to put the book down. It was a great little escape from real life, and the only thing I'm sad about is that I've finished it, and I want more! Rose is such a lovely change from the typical always sunny female characters you see more often than not. She is caring and fun but has her grouchy moments, which I found so much more relatable. Phillip was just fabulous in every way. There's not a single bad thing to say about him. I am so looking forward to this series continuing!

This book was the cutest. I know that it talked about an illness. And I enjoyed learning about it, too. The author made this topic important but not to where it overpowered other events.
You follow Phillip, a carpenter, and Rose, an artist. They start working together, and their relationship blooms. This book does have a third act breakup but I was so happy that it wasn't over the top. They worked through their issues without needing to simply sweep it under the rug. And a little bit of spice was sprinkled in

Rose and Phillip might have just become my new favorite reverse grump - Sunshine to date! Rose is scared and skeptical but to have a FMC with an autoimmune disorder was the most relatable thing, especially when partner with her stubbornness! But Phillip being a super helpful handy man who LOVES his family and just finds joy in her existence was exactly what I needed! What an amazing read!

Built to Last by C.G. Murray is a delightful entry into the world of contemporary romance, offering a refreshing mix of emotional depth and heartwarming moments. As the first book in the Riverbend Romance series, it sets the stage beautifully, introducing readers to the fictional English city of Riverbend, where love stories are as much about personal growth as they are about romantic connections.

The story centers around Rose, an artist grappling with the aftermath of a painful breakup that has left her creatively blocked and emotionally vulnerable. Her struggle to find her artistic voice again is both relatable and compelling, drawing readers into her journey of self-discovery. When her best friend asks for help with a work project, Rose reluctantly agrees, hoping that designing a set—a new and unfamiliar challenge—might be the spark she needs to reignite her passion for art.

Enter Phillip, a skilled carpenter with his own set of expectations for the project. The twist? He’s the same man Rose had an awkward encounter with just days before. This unexpected pairing adds a layer of tension and excitement to the story, as both characters must navigate their initial impressions of one another while working toward a common goal.

Murray does an excellent job of developing the chemistry between Rose and Phillip. Their interactions are filled with a delightful mix of banter, tension, and tender moments that keep the reader engaged. Phillip’s determination to show Rose that he’s more than the man she initially judged him to be adds depth to his character, making him more than just a love interest but a fully fleshed-out individual with his own insecurities and aspirations.

The set-building project serves as a metaphor for the relationship that unfolds between Rose and Phillip. As they work together to create something beautiful, they also begin to tear down the walls they’ve each built around their hearts. The progression of their relationship is natural and believable, with the deadline-driven plot adding a sense of urgency that keeps the narrative moving at a brisk pace.

One of the standout aspects of Built to Last is its setting. Riverbend feels like a character in its own right, with its charming streets, close-knit community, and the sense of possibility that permeates the air. Murray paints a vivid picture of this fictional city, making it easy for readers to lose themselves in its world.

While the romance is undoubtedly the heart of the story, Built to Last also touches on themes of self-discovery, forgiveness, and the importance of taking risks in both life and love. Rose’s journey to regain her confidence and Phillip’s quest to prove his worth are beautifully intertwined, resulting in a narrative that is as emotionally satisfying as it is romantic.

Overall, Built to Last is a promising start to the Riverbend Romance series. C.G. Murray has crafted a story that is both heartwarming and deeply engaging, with characters you can’t help but root for. Whether you’re a fan of slow-burn romances or stories about personal growth, this book is sure to leave you eager for the next installment in the series.

ARC review 3.5 ⭐

If you are looking for a fluffy romance, reversed Grumpy X Sunshine, forced proximity, an MMC with gold retriever vibes who falls first, with spice, this is for you!

This book is about the recovery of a girl from a what I would call a nasty breakup because the ex was a narcissist, a man who made her feel small and criticised her badly in every way. Rose, trying to help her friend, agrees to design the set, not knowing that she'll be working with Philip, a man she had an awkward encounter with ,who was struck by her from the moment he saw her, and who tried in every possible way to make her feel comfortable and at ease.
I think, the building we are talking about was Rose's confidence in here, get it back, get it stronger, a relationship that's based on respect and support. On the other side, there's the illness part, which is a big part of the story, of Rose's character. I personally didn't know of the existence of such type until I read about it in the book, and then researched about it more.
The writing style was more descriptive than I like, but this is just my opinion, but it was good , because I enjoyed it just fine and went through it fast. The pace was a little slow in the beginning, but it was safe for the start and presentation of the story set and background . After the second meeting of the MCs , everything goes perfectly.
As for the plot, it was good, a unique story, great setting but the miscommunication that happened in the last 20% of the book, that I saw coming, didn't like it but read it just fine because I know those two weren't going to go so long without figuring it out. They were in love, they had to.
There was good development, especially for Rose. My girl made it, and her man was proud. She overcome that trauma, some bumps in the road but she got it right. Philip on the other hand, I could kiss him , man was there through it all.
This book made me giggle, laugh here and there and I may have blushed ladies and gentlemen, because the MMC got a way with words, especially the one he didn't say out loud.
I have all the love and support for the people with Rose's kind of illness, or any chronical illness at all, fighting every day against something out of your hand, living your life, trying to balance it all and control it. You are the brave ones, continue doing whatever makes you happy please.
If I have to summarize my experience, I would say it was fun and sweet. I loved the book, I loved Philip a lot , A LOT, but Rose, my delicate but also strong Rose, you have my whole heart.

Big thank you for the author , who trusted me with their first baby 💜

The story shows us that even when life gets tough, you can still trust your gut and find the person who'll support you. They are near us, so don't push them away.

FMC works at an exhausting job and after another crappy day she feels at her worst. You know that superstition that when you wear trainers and slippers and have dirty hair you'll meet all your friends and exes? Well, it's not a cliché, it's life. And it's about to get real for FMC.

When FMC suddenly gets a job offer, I know something good and romantic is about to happen. She's going to meet THE him! I'm not going to give away any spoilers.

The main characters start their connection, and you just relax on the couch and enjoy reading. Especially if you're Swifty. I don't know all of her songs, but I felt a connection with FMC after mentioning Taylor Swift.

The main characters have sweet moments together, and it's clear that their relationship is just getting started. The dreamy atmosphere throughout the book is one of my favourite things.

FMC is insecure about her life and decisions, but she's doing everything to put it back on track. She was treated badly by her ex, she underestimated her own talent and she has the wrong idea about how MMC sees her. She sees it from a worse perspective than it actually is – until she doesn't.

The book was like a nice mint ice cream on a hot day: enjoyable, likeable and something you look forward to reading. However, I don't have a sweet tooth, so the sweetness was a little excessive for me. I'm used to having a good relationship in life and super toxic in books, so perhaps a bit of brutality was missing. Nevertheless, I gave it five stars because I loved the discussion and the really healthy relationship shown.

ARC Review

I'm so grateful I was selected to be an arc reader. And I loved the writing and the characters, but for some reason, there was something that just didn't click for me. I don't really know how to explain it, because I did enjoy the writing style, there was no plot issue or character issue for me whatsoever... and still it didn't click. It may be the timing that is not good and I would enjoy it more later in the year. I really don't know... and I'm very confused because this does not make sense and never happened to me before (#cryinginconfusion)

As someone new to the realities of chronic pain and hypermobility, this book was an eye-opener, offering a heartfelt glimpse into these struggles. Rose, an artist dealing with chronic pain and hypermobility, is such a beautifully layered character. Her resilience shines through, making her journey feel so genuine and relatable. I loved watching her battle self-doubt and the lingering effects of her past relationship—it was both touching and eye-opening. Phillip, the sweet and considerate carpenter, is a perfect match for Rose. His kindness and unwavering support make him incredibly lovable! The only thing that kinda upset me was the text convo's on page because of the formatting it was on... I loved the content, but something in the format that they were shown was weird for me.

Read if you like:
🎨 Grumpy (her)/ Sunshine (him)
🎨 Golden Retriever mmc
🎨 chronic pain/fatigue representation
🎨 Slow burn, but open-door spice
🎨 Small & cosy coffee shop vibes
🎨 Forced proximity

Genre : Contemporary Romance
Author : C. G. Murray

Thank you so much to LoveNotes PR for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Adorable, sweet, fluffy and just a great read, Built to Last really was such an enjoyable book. From start to finish, you fell in love with the characters and got invested in their relationships that went with them.

Built to Last follows Rose - an artist in a slump and a party princess - who ends up working with Phillip - a handsome carpenter - when someone drops out last minute on Rose’s best friends project. Not wanting to see her friends plan go off the rails, Rose offers to help… not realising the man who’s helping out is also the man she’s publicly scolded!! Will they end up falling for one another or will it be enemies forever?

These two really had my heart!

I just adored the little acts of love Phillip did to help Rose with her chronic pain. His attention to detail really showed how much he cared and I couldn’t help but smile each time he adjusted something in his own home to help Rose out and make life much easier for her. The love was just palpable!

This book is heavily character driven which I really enjoyed (sometimes you just need a character driven read to keep you invested!). Following both the FMC and MMC, the dual point of views really made the book!

If you love dual pov, reverse grumpy/sunshine and forced proximity in a small town, this is for you! It’s adorable, it’s fun and just a great read from start to finish.

One of my favorite quotes:
“Messes can be cleaned up.”….”As long as you learn something from them and don’t keep making the same mess over and over, people usually have it in them to be pretty forgiving. Especially when they’ve f**ked up too.”

Overall Review:
Rose Miller is a talented Painter who has put her dreams on the side due to her family and her Ex-Boyfriend making her feel like her passion seem invaluable. Rose’s best friend asks her to step in as the Painter for her project to get that passion back. While working on the project together, Philip, the hired Carpenter, starts to learn more about Rose and helping her feel more comfortable. Not only with getting her passion back but with allowing others to understand her illness and provide support. Throughout this, Rose is finally being able to accept that her art is not just a hobby and is actually worth something much like herself. The interactions between the characters had me giggling from start to finish. The tiara scene ? HILARIOUS. Also his nickname for her, Raincloud 🌧️🥺 is too cute.

Trigger warnings: toxic relationship (in the past) ; light sexual content ; chronic illness ; flood (mentioned)

If you're looking for a light and cute romance, then this one is made for you!
Built to Last was a really interesting book. I loved how Rose talks about her chronic illness, and I even more loved how Phillip truly wants to help her without making her feel diminished. The meeting between our two protagonists was funny, and I had a beautiful time seeing them getting closer, even though I would have liked a bit more of tension and slow burn.
I also loved all the representation of artistic jobs. We're all used of characters in romances working in offices and all, so it was refreshing to have both our protagonists working from home and giving us a close up of their respective jobs. Being really artistic myself, I loved that part of the book!

However, the "third act breakup" seemd off to me, and it kept me from completely liking the story. Otherwise, I loved how the secondary characters have an important role in this particular part of the book. It was a big big asset to the story in my opinion!

In brief, if you like sweet romance with just a little bit of dramas and lots of cuteness, then this book is made for you!

Tropes/themes: he falls first ; strangers-to-friends-to-lovers ; forced proximity ; work romance

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 easy 5 star rating on this book, it’s features a chronically ill girl which i love as i also suffer with a very similar condition myself so i found her very realtable! The writen was brilliant and so easy to enjoy.

Poor rose hasnt had it easy, her parents havent been supportive of her illness or her career and then shes suffered in a horrible relationship with an asshole who did nothing but tear her down for years.

All rose wanted was her mint chocolate chip ice cream and even that was a fight, but after getting her most treasured ice cream and returning to her cosy flat with the best friend she could ever ask for maybe things will look better in the morning.

Her flat mates AKA best friend ask roses a huge favour to help out on a huge project thats been in motion for months and paint a set for the next step in the buiness but is rose isnt sure she ready to pick up a paint brush just yet again after the break up thats left her feeling flat especially when her ex made her feel and her art so worthless.

I adore phil right from the start , even if his “princess” took a little more warming up.

I enjoyed every second of this book and will definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for charlottes books in the future.

Thank you so much to @Charlotte and @Love Notes PR for my copy 🖤

Thank you so much to Love Notes PR and C.G. Murray for the ARC!

This book has so many good things in it. It has reverse grumpy x sunshine, chronic illness representation, a golden retriever love interest, a fantastic cast of side characters, a cozy coffee shop, and a romance that will melt your icy heart.

I had so much fun reading this. I saw a lot of myself in Rose. Her imposter syndrome, chronic illness, and love for art were all things I could relate to. I really understood her as a character and was cheering her on the whole book. Phillip was a near perfect man and love interest. He was so kind and committed to Rose. He was so understanding of Rose's chronic illness and insecurities. He never pushed her but always made sure she felt heard and seen. I admire the man Phillip is. He is a true golden retriever.

Overall, I really liked this book. What a great debut! I look forward to reading more of Murray's work.

(A note to the publisher: There were some typos and grammatical errors in this book that made it a little unpleasant to read. Some of the sentence structure was confusing and didn't flow well. While I was still able to enjoy the book, it would have been near perfect had these issues not been overlooked.)

The only thing I disliked about this book was that it only spanned a couple of months so the romance felt incredibly rushed, but the characters even mentioned that it was very fast so there was that.
I loved the disability rep with Rose. As a person with chronic issues as well it is great to see it portrayed realistically in books. Especially if there is a guy who wants to do everything he can to help her without her feeling like he does everything. It was so sweet to see Phillip make small adjustments that Rose would find that made things just a tad more convenient for her.
The third act issue frustrated me beyond measure. It felt like the whole thing was a lose-lose situation for Phillip and no matter what he did Rose was going to blow up at him and I felt so bad for him and so frustrated with Rose. Luckily, she comes to realize she was being unfair after a couple pages and they are able to work things out and everything is all happy again.
The story is cute and fun. I really enjoyed the story and definitely stayed up way too late reading it.
Big thanks to Love Notes PR and C. G. Murray for the Advanced Copy!

The blurb for this book caught my eye right away and I knew I wanted to read it. I've been looking forward to it ever since. I picked it up and got right into the Riverbend world. I so enjoyed this story!

Rose and Phillip's journey drew me in quickly! Rose is an artist and Phillip is a carpenter. These two are brought into each other's lives in quite the memorable fashion. Little did they know they'd be teamed up together to build a set. Can Rose and Phillip work together and then go their separate ways? or could they let each other in and it lead to so much more?

From the moment that Rose and Phillip met, these two had my full attention. I so enjoyed the way these two were brought back together. I couldn't wait to see how they'd tackle working together, the set, things in their lives, and everything in their hearts.

I truly felt for Rose and everything she went through. She was very relatable and had such strength. I loved seeing her take on the set and her art. Phillip was so caring with such dedication. I adored the way he was with Rose. I was so glad I got to jump into both of their minds. From their chemistry to they way they got into each other's hearts to the real, Rose and Phillip had me feeling so much with them throughout!

I was glad to be in the Riverbend world for the first time!

With Built to Last, Ms.Murray has created such a good debut that brought realness and feels! I loved the fact that this story touched on things I don't see often enough in books. I am so looking forward to more from her and the Riverbend world! 🎨🖌💗🔨

🎨 Friends to Lovers

*~*~*~*~*

“If we stay here any longer, we won’t make it to dinner and it would be a shame if in the only one who gets to see how beautiful you look.”

It takes a special type of author to leave you feeling seen and heard, and that’s the way Charlotte has left me feeling.

After a meet disaster and a surprise encounter, Rose and Phillip spend their time together creating something wonderful while also getting to know one another and falling in love.

I absolutely love how mature Rose and Phillip are, and the way they talk to one another. I think their maturity is what allows them to get along so well while also allowing them to be their own person.

One of the big things regarding this book was the on page flare up that Rose experienced, and I felt so seen and like Rose was a part of me within the moment. It’s also what made me love this book even more.

The only thing that frustrated me was the miscommunication trope, but all was well in the end and it was only short lived!

For anyone wanting to read something cute and fast, this book is perfect for you!

i thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was so cute and laid back and such an easy, engaging read! as someone who is chronically ill, i really appreciated how chronic illness and the challenges were portrayed in this book. i loved the relationship between everyone, and Aria being so inclusive and genuine and supportive when it came to Rose! Reading about Phillip and Roses Relationship was so special, and it was so lovely to see someone like Rose received the love She deserved! Reading as their relationship progress was the sweetest thing ever, i had dimples in my cheeks as i read it! I would say this book was 2/5 or 3/5 for spice, so if you don’t like spice it mightn’t be for you but then again it’s not the main premise of the book at all so you might get away with reading it just fine. Maybe you might just have to read to find out for yourself ;) This was a joy to read, i loved that it was so different to my usual reads as a thriller girlie and was such a cosy, engaging, grumpy sunshine read even tho i typically don’t read that trope! I had the opportunity to read this as an ARC and am so thankful! Thank you for the opportunity :)

ARC Review

Tropes:
* Reverse Grumpy x Sunshine
* Strangers to Lovers
* Forced Proximity
* Painter/Carpenter
* Third Act Breakup

It was an adorable, fun, short reading. It was the first time I read a reverse grumpy and sunshine, and it didn't disappoint whatsoever. Rose and Philip make such an adorable couple that they are so meant for each other.
Rose is an artist who has chronic illness but nothing stops her from doing what she loves, she might be grumpy but when she meets the man that is sweet and loving and very supportive how can she not want him. Even when she has insecurities and struggles with her past relationship, she finds a way to move on.
Philip is such an amazing man with a heart of gold. He's a skilled carpenter. He's very loving and has so much patience for her and never makes her do anything she doesn't want to do. I love everything about him in the story. There is not one bad thing about him.

I can wait to reread the book.
Thank You lovenotespr and c.g.murray for the e-ARC!
