I can already hear people’s opinions on this one. You’re either going to love it and think the extreme horror in this one was absolutely unhinged but effective, or say the author hates women and there’s too much femicide. No in between.

I wasn’t going to continue but after the ending? Pls and ty.

(This is the only horror book I’ve read where the was a certain scene towards the end that was incredibly hard to read and nearly made me DNF)

Holy shit. This book doesn’t just dip into the dark—it cannonballs in. If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if adult men acted on their most hidden, violent desires and fantasies, Gomorrah answers that question with brutal clarity.

This splatterpunk story is not for the faint of heart—seriously, it’s a buffet of every trigger warning you can imagine (and then some). Every horrible thing that could happen to women happens here, unapologetically.

That said, I found myself engaged with the story despite the horrifying content. Why? Because life as a woman is already terrifying, and Gomorrah captures that fear and amplifies it into a grotesque cautionary tale.

And the ending—ohhhh, the ending!

Gomorrah: a wicked or depraved place.

Y’all… this was an intense, gore fuelled, absolutely unhinged roller coaster ride of a book. I’m scared to sleep because I know I’ll be having twisted dreams/nightmares about the subject matter.

A chemical weapon detonates above the English seaside, sending nearby men into rabid and violent rampages. No longer are they constrained by societal rules, emotions, or their consciences.

Readers of extreme horror/splatterpunk will definitely enjoy Kelvin’s depraved tale. Just when I think the bar of brutal and evil acts has been reached, the author writes something so much worse. My jaw hit the floor a few times.

The variety of characters and creative scenes prove that Kelvin has put a lot of thought and effort into this book. I’m excited to see what comes next for any survivors of “Gomorrah”.

Gomorrah (Gomorrah and Sodom Book 1) By British author Kelvin V.A. Allison was released in the Summer 2024 and is designated as the first installment of a four book series. The short work of Extreme Horror is mercifully brief at 72 pages. Unfortunately I failed to check available sources for the presence of animal abuse, my singular known trigger. In the space of 72 pages a pet dog was drowned, a second dog was burned alive, and a third dog had its brains blown out by a handgun. I found myself frequently checking how many pages were left to read. The reader meets David in the beginning, a man who married money and is dominated by his wife. He also fantasizes about his neighbor Zoe. Then there is an unexplained missile explosion above the seaside town which rains down visible particles that gravitate to the earth below. All males who are exposed to the inhaled debris morph into homicidal sexual sadists who murder, mutilate, rape and torture all women and children who cross paths with them. There is no plot. It is Extreme Horror. Full Stop. There is a casual reference made to a modern day Gomorrah. This does not meet the burden of being designated as "Splatterpunk" since there is zero evidence of any meaning or message that I am able to see. Forcing dog feces down a female victim's throat and bestiality are only a couple of incidences of gratuitous violence, sadism, torture murders, violent rape to include using the bloody neck stump of an infant, and so much more. The total chaos and bloodlust reminded me vaguely of a few other works but in this case it is disgusting and stomach churning destruction of women and children for "sensationalism". No redeeming qualities that I am able to ferret out of the senseless slaughter.

Allison does NOT hold back on this one, it's hellishly horrific and shockingly savage. A blood soaked, gore stuffed, trigger happy romp with man's best friend, and men behaving badly, extremely badly! It has all the triggers, ALL of them, and then some! For example, I am pretty hardened to this genre now, I can do all manner of bodily fluids, gore and depravity, but I cannot do snot!! 🤢 That particular scene almost gave me some super fresh vomit for a review photo….😂

Things escalate really quickly, from a nice morning coffee on the pier, to all out bedlam and hellish acts of depravity in the blink of an eye. It's brutally debauched, shocking and depraved. Its fast paced and action packed, and has Kelvin’s trademark cheeky, dark sense of humour within its decidedly darker storyline. A real blood frenzied free for all!

David and his nag of a wife live on the Isle of Wight. David is always on edge around her, she snaps at the slightest inconvenience, she is a bully and makes his life a living hell. He likes to fantasize about living a happier, more carefree life, maybe after getting his own back on her and shacking up with his hot neighbour, Zoe, and finally making use of his rather huge assets….

He feels shame, humiliation, and hatred at being resigned to the fact that he is stuck with this deplorable woman he calls his wife, until a glitter bomb explodes and he has a change of heart, and he feels absolutely nothing anymore, not towards his wife, or anyone else. Not even when he observes people in horrific and deadly situations all around him. He’s not alone though, the whole world has gone to shit and nobody seems to give a flying fuck!

Carnage is everywhere he looks, but it's only the beginning. The beginning of merciless, murdering mayhem and mad men! The men have gone insane with bloodlust and no female is safe. No woman, child, or animal in fact!

David joins in with the insanity, but saves the best to last. After teaming up with an unlikely accomplice, GOD, he tracks down his favourite female and gives her all he has left to offer. Meanwhile, man's best friend is loyal to the bitter, bloody end…… almost! 😲😉

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL TO THIS, SODOM!! 🖤

Gory AF and consistently satisfying throughout. No trigger goes missing, no offense is passed over: children, babies, animals, families, the disabled, everyone is up for grabs by men gone insane - infinitely more so if the victim has XX chromosomes. Torture, abuse of all kinds, one trigger after another - everything shown is well within the capability of common people, and, in fact, has been done at some point or another in real life.

The premise of the novelette is very simple: the most messed up vulgarities are given the chance to go from fantasy into reality, when morality is literally turned off. Apparently, this only applies to males, as long as they've hit puberty. Once their morals have been removed, compassion, empathy, and consideration of human rights go out the window. Men turn into emotionless, even bored, sex-hungry, pain-craving, monsters. The story focuses on meek David, bullied by his rich wife; he dreams of having Zoe, his beautiful young neighbor. And then the missiles hit and David's humanity (along with that of all other males) is either suppressed or allowed to realize its suppressed potential (take your pick!). What follows is like you're leafing through an issue of Garth Ennis' "Crossed" while walking around the set of the Serbian Film.

If you enjoy your horror brimming with scenes of over-the-top graphic violence, you have no excuse to let this nihilistic gorefest pass you by!

I’m too conflicted to give a rating. Any rating I gave would be arbitrary, so I’m just gonna stick with this brief review.

This is definitely a brutal book. No doubt about it. It starts with a mysterious missile attack on the town and then spirals into a chaos where all the men of a small English resort island town going nuts and targeting women (or at least mostly women) with violence and unspeakable acts.

The book takes you on MC David’s journey where a lot of violence and torture plays out. There’s, candidly, not much more. That’s not necessarily a criticism, but I did wonder where the story was going and in what direction Allison was leading me. I liked the Lonesome Oaks book Allison put out. This one however,

I fully recognize this novella is part of a bigger whole. Fortunately, the ending gives the reader notice that there’s more to come and . I do intend to read more.

This one is absolute mayhem from start to finish with extreme horror/sexual violence and destruction on every page, please check your trigger warnings. This is a short read and it did get me feeling very disturbed and disgusted at most scenes but I’m still intrigued to read the second part -Sodom: Revenge of the Women.

When the missiles explode above the seaside town of Sandown, David is on the end of a verbal assault by his domineering wife Claire, another moment of submission in a life spent worrying too much what others think.
But when the missiles payload enters his lungs, David, like every other male that has breathed it in, no longer cares what anyone thinks, turning the holiday island into a blood-drenched, modern-day Gomorrah.

“So much death, so much pain, it is like Gomorrah made real !”

I was lucky enough to receive an arc of this from Kelvin . And I devoured it in one sitting .

David and Claire go to an afternoon at an amusement park when suddenly there is a huge explosion and chemical warfare has taken over all the men leaving them “devoid of care”, “ devoid of anything but lust.” Men start living out, their deepest, darkest fantasies. This story was beyond depraved, violent and enthralling. If you have any trigger warnings whatsoever be aware ahead of time, this will meet them all and some you didn’t know you had. Easy 5 💥

Whatever it was...it was...brilliant.
So much havoc, blood, gore, violence and destruction crammed into one short book.
This was very well written and extremely graphic.
Plenty of triggers in this one...so my advice is to tread very very carefully.
Can't wait to read Sodom now...I do believe the ladies get their own back??? Ha! 😆 Ha!

Guys what the fuck. This book was so extreme and full of violence after I finished it I just sat and stared off into space for a minute trying to figure out how I got here. Beware of the last 17 pages especially in my opinion. Amazing read for people who want to push their boundaries and test their limits this will live with me forever.

This book is absolutely foul (and I mean that in the best ways), my God. Everything you could possibly think of is in Gomorrah, and I really have to give Kelvin props for how diabolically creative some of the scenes were.

I'm absolutely fascinated by the science and motives behind whatever that dust was. Was it some sort of Keppra or Captagon compound modified to impact men faster than women? Or some other blend home grown and being used as a control experiment? Is someone(s) with too much money attempting to engineer the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah in some twisted inhumane experiment? There's loads of possibilities here, and that's what drew me in the most while I was reading this book!

The next book is Sodom: Revenge of the Women, and I'm looking forward to seeing some of them (especially Zoe) get their own after the atrocities that happened in this one. Though I was pretty impressed (and horrified) by the men's creative destruction, so Kelvin really has his work cut out for him in the next one! I really hope that we get a third book that shows the aftermath of all this, who's behind it, their motives, and what they do moving forward because I'm captivated.

MAJOR TRIGGER FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY/DEATH. Please watch your triggers before you read!

When an author warns you that their latest release is the most disturbing and extreme they have ever written, heed their warning!

Gomorrah by Kelvin V A Allison is intense; the visual imagery very, very disturbing. But what is truly horrific in this novella is the utter dispassion and soulless account of David, the MC who bears witness to extreme acts of depravity with casual boredom; he knows he should feel something, anything. You grow inclined to offer him the benefit of the doubt; but are you looking for redemption when there really is none?

This book is the high end of extreme. I can’t think of a single Trigger Warning that doesn’t apply - don’t say you haven’t been warned 😱

Chemical warfare is terrifying enough on its own.

The world for women is terrifying enough on its own.

Now, imagine if chemical warfare were to happen and it only affected the men. Allowing them to give into their most primal and transgressive thoughts and fantasies, leaving all women helpless.

This book is a utopian nightmare story that absolutely could happen, putting genuine fear into the reader. I can’t wait for the next installment!

This book was absolutely brutal!! I read this one compulsively, like not being able to look away from a car crash.. the violence, the depravity, the hopelessness. But I'm a huge lover of splatterpunk so I was in my glory! The ending was my favorite part, and I am just counting down the days for the sequel Sodom now!! Gomorrah is one of my new favorite extreme reads, though everything Kelvin VA Allison writes is awesome! Easily a 5/5 skull read ☠️

I'm going to be honest, I'm not really a fan of extreme horror. I've read my fair share, and it's usually all the same story, but in a different location. I generally don't have the stomach for gratuitous sexual assault which, in my experience, is the usual focus of that particular sub genre. That being said, I don't sit and judge those that do enjoy it. Different strokes for different folks. It's just not for me.
I went into this book because I know the author. He's a great guy, and I wanted to read it to show support. Annoyingly, and despite my reservations, I really enjoyed it, and what's more annoying is that I'm going to have to purchase the other books in this series because I need to know what the hell is going on.
Sure, it's extreme, and it contains many of the themes that usually turn me off, but damn Kelvin weaves one hell of a story.
Something has happened to the male residents on The Isle of Wight. A missile attack or something carrying a biological agent has turned the XY chromosome population into murderous, sadistic goons who quickly turn on their female counterparts in the most brutal of ways. It gets messy fast, and boy, do these ladies suffer.
What it is that has caused these men to become such beasts is not revealed, and I need to know!
I've only read Sissy, and Mary by the author, and i enjoyed both of those. Kelvin is a talented storyteller, so if you have a strong stomach then I thoroughly recommend picking up this book.

Fun and unhinged way to start my June. I think I’d give it 3.75 instead of 4 if I’m being super specific??? My only ~thing~ about this book was the violence and gore started at a very extreme point and made everything else feel significantly less shocking. When I’ve already read about babies and dogs dying before the shit show really gets started it definitely numbs the rest of the experience for me.
That being said, I loved the idea of the bomb exploding and murder-glitter raining over everyone. I love when horror is original and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Especially since it was a contrast against how intense the rest of the story is.
I also loved the ending and I’m excited for Sodom. I think I’ll like that even more because I love a good revenge arc.

WTH DID I READ?!?!

Let me tell you… this 72 page book packs a punch!!! Like seriously… it went from zero to 9000 quickly. And the ending…. the ending…

The book is about a missile exploding over an island and releasing a glitter that makes men very violent towards women. Oh and the violence is violent!!!

This is the second book I have read in the genre that I physically gagged on!! The things that happened in this book isn’t for the faint of heart and I’m here to tell you to check all the trigger warnings. EVERY 👏🏾 SINGLE 👏🏾 ONE👏🏾

My D&D rating (disturbing and disgusting) is a 10 out of 5!! I got the second book but I need a minute or 5 before hopping into it.

Jumped in at the deep end with this one.
Our 2 main characters are neighbours. We have David, the unhappily married man, and Zoe, the next door neighbour of David that he fantasises over. This is not your typical extreme horror book. It is EXTREME. We get points of view from both characters on their journeys when a mysterious smoke is inhaled at the beach and turns the men to absolute violent assholes. Here’s part of what you are in for. Child and infant torture, r*pe, gore, animal cruelty, disabled people torture, torture, excrement eating and the list goes on. There are moments where I giggled when I shouldn’t have but it was a brilliant book. Comes in as one of my favourites for the brilliant storytelling, the endless triggers and the fact I couldn’t stop reading! The ending makes me want more!! I need the next one IMMEDIATELY!

As something in the air causes all of the men to give in to their most base desires and Then to dive even deeper into their extreme, uninhibited, violent and demeaning nature's- you are along for the ride! It's gory, it's horrific, it's violent, and it's Awesome. Think of a situation in which to demean, to break, to finish another, and this books got it. This was an intense read, not for the faint of heart. Imagine if a chemical weapon went off, taking away any emotion you might have. You will do the most cruel things in the world and not even care. That is the premise of this intense read. It's scary because I can see this happening in the distant future. All the men on the Isle of Wight begin to tap into their deepest, sickest fantasies after the missile goes off. I have to admit, it's perhaps the most cruel manner an enemy country can attack their enemies, by taking away all emotion and empathy from men.

Kelvin has written quite an intense book that every extreme horror fan should read. Check your triggers before reading.

Enjoyed it!

It's a nice day for relaxing at the beach or visiting the local cafe and having a coffee with friends. As is normal, a few people are having intrusive thoughts - the kind that makes some of them picture themselves grabbing their nagging spouse by the back of the head and ramming their face into a tabletop or maybe grabbing the lead that little yappy dog that won't shut up and swinging the animal around your head before launching it into traffic. Of course, nobody does that because they all know it would be wrong. So, it comes as a shock to most residents when an apparent chemical attack unleashes a gas that causes the male populace to give in to their most horrific and monstrous urges.
Gomorrah is a story that seems as if author Kelvin V.A. Allison had seen a list of triggers and, with a mutter of "Hold my Dr Pepper," included as many as possible into the story.
Usually, hearing that wouldn't interest me in a story. Not because I'm going to be offended or upset, but because I find many stories that seek to be shocking or controversial through excessive use of such scenes soon become tiresome, even comical.
That doesn't happen with Gomorrah.
Cleverly, the scenes involving the character of David stayed away from overly detailed depictions as the prose followed the emotional detachment the character felt.
When the perspective switched to Zoe, there was no need to linger upon the violence as Zoe had no wish to witness the atrocities, but there was a subtle shift in the writing as Kelvin brought more emotion to the scenes. You could feel the shock, disgust and terror she was experiencing, which made a nice shift from David's emotionless curiosity.

Gomorrah is a violent yet interesting story that has me eagerly awaiting the sequel. I am sure there will be people put off by the violence, but I found the story to have the perfect balance. It will keep you reading without wanting to reach for a vomit bag or roll your eyes at cartoonish antics.

Another great tale from Kelvin.
