I’m a country girl at heart, an author, a homesteader, and a lover of all things simple living. My passion lies in capturing the essence of the simpler side of life, much like the one I enjoyed growing up in rural Pennsylvania.

My life has always been intricately linked with Amish culture, and it’s only fitting that I have a deep, genuine love for their simplicity, sense of community, and God-centered way of living.

Growing up in Northwest Pennsylvania, I spent my childhood immersed in the heart of Amish Country. The rhythmic clip-clop of horse and buggies was my morning soundtrack as Amish men journeyed past my home to work. A pivotal moment in my young life was shaped by a tragic Amish murder, a story detailed in “Crimson Stain” by Jim Fisher. Jake, a key figure in that true story, was my uncle.

Now residing in South Carolina, my family and I frequently travel through the Amish regions of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin. These journeys are not just visits but research expeditions. I take pride in writing Amish fiction that authentically represents their culture, thanks to the invaluable insights from friends within these communities.

If the Amish lifestyle fascinates you, join me on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and check back here often for new short stories and updates on upcoming book releases. Together, let’s explore the serene and captivating world of the Amish.

A warm hearted collection of four Amish Christmas novellas that centers around family tables. The authors are well known writers of sweet Amish romance.
An Ideal Christmas by Mindy Steele
A widower finds love when a pretty Amish lady hires him to make a Christmas table. The table is to be a Christmas gift but in order to have it finished in time for the holiday he needs the help of the pretty Amish maedal and her brother. Will the Christmas table draw the widower and the Amish lady together in this Christmas romance?

Gathered Around Loves Table by Rachel J. Good
When a young Amish lady finds her self alone over the Christmas holiday she hasn’t a clue how God plans to use this opportunity to bring the true meaning of Christmas into her home. She meets a friend from school who has fallen on hard times and invites him to stay in the Dawdyhaus. I love that one of my favorite fictional characters, Mrs Vandenburg is a big part of this story and God uses her in a mighty way as she springs into action helping the homeless people in the community. This one was my favorite story in the collection.

Trouble at the Kitchen Table by Jennifer Beckstrand
Alfie and Benji Petersheim who are twin boys are at it again in this cute Christmas novella. As readers know these twins have a knack of causing trouble and that’s what this story is all about. For years it seems they have had to sleep in the basement. Just when it looks like they will get their room back along comes Zeke Hostetler who needs a room. Mom invites him to take Alfie and Benji’s room and back to the basement go the twins. About that time their mom gets a new table and that’s when the trouble starts. Find out what these boys are up to when you read this novella.

Love Beneath the Pine by Tracy Fredrychowski
In this novella the milk/egg man has a crush on the pretty Amish single lady that lives with her grandmother, across the road from his farm. The young Amish lady cares for her sick grandmother and also has a job. Finances are tight with medical expenses and the girl is too proud to ask the gmay for help. When she starts to make Christmas cookies to bring in extra money they go over big in the community. Not having much space in her kitchen the Milk/egg man offers an old table she can use so she can have more working space. It seems this table has a way of communicating with the keepers of the table. How could this be possible? Find out when you read this heart warming novella.

I felt the time I invested into reading this collection of stories was time well spent. Readers of Amish fiction and clean read novellas will want to read this book. Very Christmassy.
I purchased my own copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are entirely my own.

My review will only be for LOVE BENEATH THE PINE by Tracy Fredrychowski as it is the only novella in the book that I read. I do plan to go back and read the other three stories. Hannah is the caretaker for her ailing, elderly grandmother. Medical bills are getting high and Hannah needs to come up with some way to make more money to pay them so she doesn’t have to ask for help from the community. No matter how hard she tries, Hannah needs to come to terms with accepting help.

Her neighbor, Isaac, Is there for her and listens to her troubles. He wants to help, but Hannah put the brakes on that after her grandmother fell while Hannah was out with Isaac. She now thinks she must be solely focused on her grandmother even though everyone is telling her not to let a good thing go.

Isaac won’t give up on Hannah and finds an old table in his barn. He knows this table will help Hannah out with her cookie business. While Isaac is cleaning he discovers a hiding place under the table that contains some old letters from his family that used the table before him. Memories from the past are unlocked as they travel to the letter writers to hear their stories.

I received an ARC from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Christmas Love

A kitchen table is the most important piece of furniture in a home. It sees more happy and sad moments but never loses it’s strength even when a broken and tired old table.

An Ideal Christmas by Mindy Steele
This story reminded me of The Grinch. Can Abner grow a new heart and learn to love Ina?

Gathering Around Love’s Table by Rachel J. Goode
A story that touched me to the core. I enjoyed how it connected to a story in the anthology of The Christmas Gathering. I was excited to learn of a new to me series that weaves a character from Gathering Around Love’s Table (Surprised by Love)

Trouble at the Christmas by Jennifer Beckstrand
Benji and Alfie have to be two of my favorite child characters. They are a hoot. Zeke was a delightful adult addition. I don’t think they will ever get out of the cellar.

Love Beneath the Pine by Tracy Fredrychowski
Hannah and Isaac each overcome a lot to let love blossom.

Each story ends with delectable recipes.

Love Beneath the Pine by Tracy Fredrychowski is one of the three Christmas stories in this book. Hannah comes to take care of her Grossmommi Ellie and decides to bake cookies to help pay for her medical expenses. Issac wants to help Hannah offering a table that was in his family for generations that is much bigger then the one she is using. This table holds a special secret. Can Hannah allow issac to help?
I received this story as an ARC and this is my honest review. You will love this heartwarming story of Love and selflessness. Cant’t wait to read the others!
Helping Hands by Mindy Steele
Another wonderful faith filled story of love loss and hope. These are a must read! Perfect for the holiday seasons soon to be here.
A Harvest of Amish Blessings by Rachel J Good

The Amish Christmas Table: Love Beneath the Pines is a story of heartbreak and tension, but also one of caring, trust in God, and maneuvering difficult relationships.

The warmth of the families within the Amish community trying to help Hannah, put a smile on my face. The steadfast and loving ways of Isaac was heartwarming. The story will take you through many transitions which enriches the layers and depth of the characters.

By the end it becomes a warm and uplifting story of a hidden secret and memories of the past. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended.

I received an ARC from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.

I have been eager to dive into An Amish Christmas Table since first hearing about it – I mean, authors Mindy Steele, Rachel J. Good, Jennifer Beckstrand, and Tracy Fredrychowski… what’s NOT to be eager about? And one of the best parts of this collection, in my opinion, is how each story is a standalone but also tied into one of that particular author’s series. So not only do you get a taste for all 4 authors’ writing styles, etc. but you also get a taste of those series settings/characters too.

Mindy Steele kicks things off with An Ideal Christmas, set in her Miller’s Creek, Kentucky universe, and of course Hazel Miller Fisher is still meddle-matching. This time, she has her young widower stepson Abner in her sights, much to his consternation. I do love me a broody hero on occasion, and Abner makes a great one because he’s not “Mr. Darcy arrogant”, just a loner who isn’t sure how to move on from grief. Into his neatly-ordered-but-solitary life barrels spunky Ina Graber who has loved Abner since she was a little girl. I loved Ina’s bubbly personality and her determination to not only do something sweet for her sister who is in a tough spot (I want the rest of that story for sure!) but to help Abner too. And if he should happen to finally fall in love with her and her smile-inducing ‘adorable quirks’ in the process, all the better. Steele’s warm writing voice immersed me in the story right away, and I especially appreciated the scenes with Ina’s adult brother Enoch, who has Down Syndrome.

Rachel J. Good’s Gathered Around Love’s Table is a story of generosity, redemption, romance and a little Christmas ‘magic’, courtesy of the delightfully enigmatic Mrs. Vandenburg – a fave of mine from the author’s Surprised by Love series. This continuation of Good’s Hitting All the Right Notes (part of The Christmas Gathering collection that also released this season) is sure to wrap you up in cozy “Hallmark Christmas” vibes and warm your heart too. I loved catching up with Jerry and getting to know him better, and though it saddened me to see how the demise of the Amish Rebels rock band has affected him, his character development/spiritual growth in this novella makes it all worth it. Miriam’s big giving spirit, even in her initial demonstration of sacrificial love for her parents and her wayward brother, stood out for me, and I enjoyed watching the sweet romance develop between her and Jerry, too. And any time Mrs. Vandenburg shows up in a story, I’ve learned to sit up and cheer because great things are on the horizon. I love that Good continues to feature her, and I hope for many more scenes to be stolen by this fun character!

Speaking of fun characters who steal scenes… in Trouble at the Christmas Table by Jennifer Beckstrand, I was overjoyed to spend time with my favorite set of hilariously precocious twins, Alfie and Benji Petersheim, whose ongoing hopes & dreams of making it out of sleeping in the cellar and back to their own bedroom continue to be thwarted. Their perspective on life is hysterical, and so is the mayhem that tends to follow them. Not only do these two make me belly laugh on a regular basis but they also consistently manage to melt my heart. In this entertaining story, they set out to make their favorite teacher Sarah fall in love with the latest usurper of their bedroom, Zeke. Oh how I loved Zeke and Sarah together too. The layers to their characters were lots of fun to discover, and Zeke’s incorrigible charm and singular pursuit of Sarah made me grin almost as much as Alfie & Benji’s fireworks show. (Bonus thing to love about this story: the table subplot, including a specific perfectly-timed comment from Mammi that left me laughing out loud.)

Closing out the collection is Tracy Fredrychowski with Love Beneath the Pine, set in her Willow Springs universe. I found this whole story to be particularly touching, especially the table subplot with the well-loved antique essentially becoming a secondary character in many ways. Not only that, but the irreplaceable legacy that Isaac and Hannah uncover while repurposing the table stirred my heart. As did the advice given to Isaac by his father when it came to pursuing Hannah. The wise words are significant for more than just the love story playing out on the pages of this novella; I think his insight equally applies to any kind of relationship we choose to invest in. Isaac and Hannah’s sweet romance is a beautiful reminder to show up and be the person others can count on when life throws them curveballs. The multi-generational aspects to the plot were another highlight for me, and so was Isaac’s genuinely good heart. He’s exactly the kind of steady hero I love reading about!

Bottom Line: An Amish Christmas Table by Mindy Steele, Rachel J Good, Jennifer Beckstrand, and Tracy Fredrychowski is a heartwarming collection of sweet romances that beckon you to sit a spell with a cozy drink and a toasty fire as you immerse yourself in the stories. Each story nicely represents the individual author’s style and voice, and they will likely also pique your interest in the series they connect to. I experienced a range of emotional reactions as I read this collection – from outright laughter to contented sighs and even a few tears – and I felt at home in each setting. I also really loved all four stories equally, and as anyone who reads a novella collection (whether by different authors or all by the same pen) knows, that’s a rarity. If you’re looking for a lovely way to spend your weekend, then let yourself get caught up in An Amish Christmas Table!

Another heartwarming story set around the holidays written by Tracy Fredrychowski. The characters are sincere and caring, putting others needs before their own. Such an endearing heartfelt part of a novella, Tracy exemplifies what true love and devotion for others really is in the storyline. I have not read the three other novellas yet, but I have read books by those authors and they are all talented and great writers. This book will make someone a delightful gift for Christmas.

I fell in love with LOVE BENEATH THE PINE by Tracy Fredrychowski which is one of 4 novellas in this book. I loved both Hannah's and Issac's story. I can relate to Hannah and how she tries to do everything herself. Issac sees that she is struggling and with encouragement from his parents and brothers plus prayer he remains always there for Hannah to give a helping hand. Sometimes we are so busy we do not see what is right in front of us. Hannah's stubborn character, a table, and Issac's patience lends to the charm of this story.

An Amish Christmas Table: Four Amish Christmas Sweet Romance Stories Edition
by Tracy Fredrychowski , Mindy Steele , Rachel J. Good , and Jennifer Beckstrand
Is a wonderful collection of Christmas stories by four wonder authors.

An Ideal Christmas by Mindy Steele
As always, Mindy Steel gives us a delightful story about Ina Graber and how she gets her childhood crush to help her give her Sister, Lavina a beautiful custom built dining table for Christmas.
Ina Graber and Abner Fisher are delightful characters and play well off each other. Abner being completely caught off guard by Ina’s plan for making the impossible possible.
Outstanding story.
Gathered Around Love’s Table by Rachel J. Good
In Gathered Around Love’s table is the story about Miriam Lapp and her desire to fill her table with people for Christmas since her family was out of state visiting her grandparents. Boy was her table and life made full that Christmas.
We get to meet Some very interesting characters including Jerry Gingerich, who left his Amish community years before and his homeless friends. Of course, no Rachel Good story would be complete without our beloved, Mrs. Mrs. Vanderburg, who helps all of them see that all things are possible with God.
The story reads quickly and transitions smoothly.
Wonderful story.

Trouble at the Christmas Table byJennifer Beckstrand
Eleven-year-old twins Alfie and Benji Petersheim are back in one of Jennifer Beckstrand hilarious twin adventures. You can’t but love these mischievous little guys.
This time, they need Zeke Hostetler’s help to remove a horrible scratch on Mom’s kitchen table.
The characters are lovable and cute. You really can’t help laughing out loud.
I highly recommend this story.

The last story in this Christmas collection is Love Beneath the Pine by Tracy Fredrychowski.
A highly recommend story of an adventure that unfolds by finding an old antique table by Isaac Kauffman.
Hannah Schrock Refuses to help Isaac refinish the table, or trace its’ history. She is too involved with her baking and involved in caring for her grandmother.
Characters are realistic, and storyline moves freely.
A great addition to your Christmas reading.
This is a 5-star collection which is a must read for the holidays.
I was given and ARC’ s by two of the Arthur’s, but was not required to give a positive review.

Absolutely Wonderful!

While every story in this compilation is unique, each one will deeply touch your heart. There is love, faith, laughs, tears, reflection, second chances, overcoming, family, and so much more. It truly is a heartwarming read with an extra perk of recipes that are included.

An Ideal Christmas by Mindy Steele
Abner Fisher doesn’t know what to do when Ina Graber approaches him for help. While he is a man of few words, Ina has enough words and ideas for the two of them and then some. And besides that, he has no time. Oh, but that’s not a problem, as Ina has an idea for that as well. Although Abner has doubts about every idea that Ina throws his way, he begins experiencing a shift in his thinking. It seems Ina’s idea is just what he needs to pull him out of his protective shell to see a new possibility. Ina and Abner's story will take you on a wonderful and enjoyable ride to finally see how it all plays out.

Gathered Around Love's Table by Rachel J. Good
Jerry Gingerich is in for a huge surprise when Miriam Lapp literally crashes into his world. As their worlds intertwine, Jerry begins to rethink his choices and looks to forgiveness and new hope, while Miriam finds herself on a new path she didn't expect to be on. Their sweet story is sure to touch your heart.

An Amish Christmas Table by Jennifer Beckstrand
If you haven't met Alfie and Benjie Petersheim before, you are in for the ride of your life. They are out to spoil Zeke Hostetler's plans and save Sarah Zimmerman from him. Unfortunately for Alfie and Benjie, one little mistake has them doing what they never planned to do, and the result is one surprise after another and one laugh after another. It is sweet and entertaining.

Love Beneath the Pine by Tracy Fredrychowski
Hannah Schrock is on a mission to make sure she properly takes care of and provides for her grandmother. Isaac Kauffman, her neighbor, wants to help her and hopefully grow a relationship with her. When he finds his family's old table and chooses to restore it to help Hannah, he makes a discovery that takes him and Hannah on a hunt to solve a mystery. It also makes Hannah rethink her mission and consider opening up to possibilities. Hannah and Isaac's story is one of discoveries, faith, and love.

Disclaimer, I have read only one of the stories in this anthology as of right now. The story I read was An Ideal Christmas by Mindy Steele. I have already pre-ordered the anthology because I know in my heart that the other two stories will be as good as the one I read. I love any book by this author and if you love Amish books, you will fall in love with this one. Most of the characters in this story are from some of the other books by this author, but you don't need to read them to follow along with this story. Though once you do read it, you will want to read the rest of her books. Ina wants to do something extra special for her sister for Christmas, that won't only be thoughtful but practical for the Amish way of life. She asks Abner to help her with the gift, and he begrudgingly agrees. Will the gift be done in time for Christmas, and will there be something else come out of the request for the gift? Pick up your copy today to find out. I received a complimentary copy of this story but was not required to leave a review.

Rachel J. Good’s "Gathered Around Love’s Table" is the only novella I have read in this collection. I cannot give enough praise for the heartwarming and touching story of Jerry and Miriam. Miriam made a hard decision to remain at home because of her younger brother's behavior. She was amazed how only God could orchestra and bring a blessed Christmas to her with a table full of new friends who had been homeless and the change in her brother's behavior and attitude. Jerry's changed life from being homeless, rebellious and resentment brought broken lives together with new purpose and showing others God is faithful when one's heart is open to forgiving and letting go. What a beautiful and endearing Christmas read. I appreciate how Good brought past characters and settings into this novella that says continue writing these characters into more books.

I received an early copy of this novella from the author without any obligation to write a positive review. I have expressed my own sincere thoughts.

Just seeing this cover and the names of four respected authors made me want to read this book and I'm thrilled to have the chance! An Amish Christmas Table is a collection of four short stories but this review is for An Ideal Christmas, a novella by Mindy Steele. I loved this return to Miller's Creek, and a chance to catch up with one of my favorite characters, Hazel Miller! Who wouldn't love this Amish matchmaker, who admits to sometimes being an "Amish meddler"? I loved this reunion with Hazel and also meeting Abner Fisher and the young woman who's loved him since she was a girl. Ina Graber has little hope of catching Abner's eye but it won't hurt to try, will it?

Steele shares a heartwarming story with a perfect blend of romance, humor, and inspiring Christmas magic! An Ideal Christmas is a great holiday read and I look forward to reading the other novellas in An Amish Christmas Table!

I received a complimentary ARC but there was no obligation for a review. These are my honest thoughts.

Who doesn’t like Christmas books, and in this book you will get the added benefit of four wonderful crafted stories by four amazing authors, each with a common thread of something most of us take for granite our Kitchen table.
Each story will showcase just how important this common piece of furniture is, from Ina Graber who decides it will be a perfect Christmas gift for a beloved sister, to Miriam Lapp who find out that whoever sits at the family table this holiday season will each add to not only their own faith but to all those blessed to share that space. Then who can forget the beloved Amish twins Alfie and Benji Petersheim who are all boy and yet so full of love for those around them, they will bring a smile to your face and a new spin on just what the family table if for, to wrap it all up you will meet Hannah Schrock who with the help of Isaac Kauffman discover restoring the old can lead to unexpected surprises and secrets that bind past generations.
All in all you will love this book and I believe think differently about your table. Happy Reading

There is something incredibly soothing about reading Amish romances and collections such as this one, hold a special place in my reading heart. AN AMISH CHRISTMAS TABLE with its festive backdrop and uplifting nature was a pleasure to read. Each short story provides a sense of heart and home - a strong and important message during the holidays and any time of year. I am a fan of all four contributing authors and their wholesome love stories. I enjoyed Rachel J. Good’s ‘Gathered Around Love’s Table’ as I am a fan of her Surprised By Love series, where this story takes place. And Jennifer Beckstrand’s ‘Trouble At The Christmas Table’ was a sweet treat featuring the adorable antics of Alfie and Benji Petersheim (a.k.a. The Peanut Butter Brothers). I highly recommend adding AN AMISH CHRISTMAS TABLE to your TBR so that you too, can enjoy these lovely novellas. I’m giving it the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR & Enjoy.

Jennifer Beckstrand- Amish Christmas Table

Alfie and Benji are at it again. They have schemed and planned ways to marry off their older brothers so that they can have their bedroom back. After 4 years of sleeping in the basement, it was about to come true. But it seems someone just messed up their chance to get out of the stinky, cold and bug infested basement!

These twins are something else. Adorable but stinkers. You can't help but love them. I'm sure you will enjoy Christmas around the new table with the wonderful Petersheim family.

I was ever so happy to read the next installment of this family. You never know what to expect.

This is just one story- Trouble at the Christmas Table that is in this new book collection called Amish Christmas Table. The authors are all known to me as I have been reading Amish fiction for a few years. I knew I was in for a treat. Its a perfect choice in preparation for the holiday season.

Love Beneath The Pine
It’s almost Christmas time in the Amish Country Hannah is overwhelmed with the challenges in her life. She’s taking care of her elderly grandmother, and the cost of her medical care is a challenge. She finds a way to make more money by baking cookies but needs more space. She is helped by an old friend Isaac whom she has known for years. He restores an old family table so give her the space she needs for her cookies business. While restoring the table he finds a collection of old family letters. Will these letters speak to Hannah about what is important in life?

This was a charming short story, just perfect for the Christmas season.

This book consists of four novellas revolving around Christmas. These are perfect for the upcoming Christmas season and really for any time of year. I read Tracy Fredychowski's novella entitled Love beneath the pine. Loved this story as it reminded me of being a caretaker, and yet still remembering to care for yourself, physically, spiritually and other ways, as well and to allow others to help you. Sometimes we are so involved as caretakers we forget we can't always do things alone. The antique table that Isaac restores, is a beautiful part of the book as it tells the story of times and people in the past. It's beautiful and a sweet story.

I have had the pleasure of reading Tracy Fredrychowski's Love Beneath the Pine, one of the four stories featured in this Christmas Anthology. I know and have read the other authors previously and feel that their stories will be as wonderful as Tracy's. So let me feature on Tracy and say that her story was an easy 5 star read for me. Written in Tracy's beautiful way this story fills us with hope, love, inspiration and the joys of an Amish Christmas. With truly lovely characters and a story to touch all hearts this is a definite must read from Tracy. I hope if you have never read Tracy before you read this so you get to know what I am talking about and if you have read Tracy before then you must not miss this adorable sweet story.

Oh poor Alfie and Benji!

I was given part of this book as an ARC from Jennifer Beckstrand. Of course another wonderful adventure that highlights the adorable twin mischief makers Alfie and Benji. Poor little guys are still sleeping in the dark, cold cellar because their Mamm just keeps letting people stay in their old bedroom. Just when they thought they might get the room back Zeke moves in! Can these matchmakers find him a wife and get him out of the house quickly? Just because Zeke delivers a gorgeous new table surely doesn't mean they have to spend another Christmas in the cellar with the spiders, right? It might include a huge sacrifice but it has to be worth it, right?

Love Beneath the Pine by Tracy Fredrychowski is one of four stories in An Amish Christmas Table. It is a short but sweet romance about two people learning of listen to their hearts despite obstacles in their way. Hannah Schrock is busy taking care of her grandmother, working in a store, and filling bakery orders and thinks she has no time for romance. Isaac Kauffman has cared for Hannah for years but wonders if he will ever capture her heart. The way that he does so – and the antique table that helps along the way – is very well done. You can’t help but want these two to find happiness just like others who have sat around the table. The whole story is well done, and I was sorry when it was over.

I received a copy of this story from the author but was under no obligation to review it.

Amish Christmas Sweetness

What a lovely quartet of Amish Christmas romances by some of the best voices in the genre. Each story fairly exuded cinnamon, hot chocolate, and a cozy kitchen and dining room full of happy families.

There is something comforting about the straightforward faith of the Amish. What they refer to as the 'plain life, looks to many of us outsiders as a simpler way of living.

Regardless of how you feel about the Amish faith, you'll find you can't help but love the sweet and heartfelt expressions of the Mother and Father, lovers and friends for each other and their community. A beautiful Christmas book.

This review is for Love Between the Pines, by Tracy Fredrychowski. This is a very good story about a young woman caring for her grandma while working. She is concerned about meeting all of her grandmother's needs and expenses, especially the medical costs. Her neighbor across the street is very interested in her, but she is not open to receiving his interest because of her intense dedication to her grandma. I highly recommend this story. I received it as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

This sweet and heartwarming book consists of four stories authored by four different authors: Tracy Fredrychowski, Rachel J. Good, Mindy Steele and Jennifer Beckstrand. Each story reflects on the characters search to find the meaning for their lives and the path to take while honoring their Amish heritage and their love of God. The stories bring out the coming Christmas season and what it means in their lives. A really outstanding collection of stories; I know you will enjoy them as much as I did.

What a great way to celebrate the Christmas season. Each story is strong on family and…….a table. This was a unique twist and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The authors of this anthology are all well known in the Amish book community and you won’t be disappointed. Wonderful characters and all the feelings of Christmas will help to usher in the season. If you enjoy Amish fiction then do please read An Amish Christmas Table.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
