Characters in From Madid to Heaven unexpectedly find themselves in impossible circumstances. In fourteen short stories, set between Iberia and North Africa, they come nevertheless to face the strange possibility that when nothing is possible, everything may suddenly be possible.
I am so pleased to have read each short story, and so saddened that Graham Green and Anton Chechov couldn't; for they too would have been so very delighted with Dr. Croxford's work.
I very much enjoyed and appreciated reading this book by Leslie Croxford. The stories are told in beautiful style, transporting the reader to new places rich in detail, interesting characterizations, and unexpected situations. In only a few pages each story scrupulously and deftly immerses the reader in a richly woven and carefully detailed sense of place, history, and human emotion. Turn the pages of this volume of short stories and you’ll travel to many places including cities in Spain, Portugal, Morocco. Highly recommended.
