Chloe Kennedy is desperate. Desperate enough to let Jack Wallace into her house…

Chloe’s dream is to own her home, and if she can stick to her five-year-plan, she might just get there. But a nasty breakup puts her in an awkward position with the bank, and her only solution is to rent one of her rooms to a fledgling retail company.

Enter Jack Wallace: Business owner and sex toy aficionado. What has Chloe gotten herself into?

Jack is flirty, sexy, and won’t take no for an answer. As Chloe struggles to look the other way during work hours, he notices her mounting financial struggles, and offers to help the only way he can.

But can buttoned-up Chloe swallow her pride, and test Jack’s toys in exchange for money?

Working From Home is a spicy, fun romantic comedy based on the timeless question: If you fail to plan, do you really plan to fail?

I had not read from Demi before and I noticed she was an indie author (who’s a lovely lady to talk to on insta) and I came across her Double Shot Duet a few months ago now.

But before I could check them out, this was released FOR FREE if you had subscribed to her newsletter. With it also being a complete standalone, I took it upon myself to read so I could get a feel for her writing in preparation to check out her other books.

All in all this was cute and spicy. I’ll admit though that it did have its slow moments in places here and there. And as at the time of writing this review I am battling a cold so my mood did start to shift when I was approaching the end 😅. This cold has been a brutal one and my energy wasn’t entirely there.

This being said though, I liked our main characters Jack and Chloe were good together. I liked Chloe’s strength and how determined she was to stick to her goals/plans. Jack was also a likeable hero who was swoon worthy and I did get giddy at his word towards Chloe 😏😍.

The story was enjoyable and I was intrigued to see how everything would resolve between our pair. If I had any negatives? It would be that it could’ve been a few chapters shorter, as I felt around the 75% mark the pacing did slow down somewhat for me. The separation between our couple was perhaps a wee too long for me, and also by this time I wasn’t well so I was trying to read faster.

Other than this issue though I’d still like to give this around the 3.75 to low 4 rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

I’m happy to have checked this out as I do think I will read Demi’s other books in the future! 👌🏻.

Devoured in 2 days. I was hesitant to read this because I haven’t had the best of luck with free romance books, but this blew me away and reminded me that I LOVED Demi’s writing in her debut novel. It also reminded me that she had a second book I have to read as well, and now her torture book is on my tbr.

I related to Chloe so deeply - the organizational stuff being borne from anxiety, not the sexual stuff, I mean - and I loved that Jack saw all that, brought out different sides of her, and openly asked for what he wanted.

It was refreshing and fun, and it made me giggle my ass off at points. My mom would totally run after an ex with a shoe if the situation called for it, and I laughed so hard at that.

I also loved the vintage gaming references, and how that weaved into the story as the thing that saved the day, kind of like Chloe’s mom had it all figured out beyond the grave, and just didn’t get a chance to tell her daughter before she died.

Also, fuck that Grant guy. I hated him so much, but also, I loved that Jack punched him in the face.

Ah shit, now I’ve written in spoilers. All that to say I loved this book, can’t believe it was free, wish I could get a shelf trophy for it, and I can’t wait for Demi’s new book.

I really needed a good laugh and just like I thought Demi Blaize did not disappoint. Jack and Chole where the cutest. I loved that Jack was willing to fight for Chloe no matter how stubborn she was. The plot was just perfection and everything flowed so well. If you're looking for a Spicy Rom-com I highly suggest you sign up for her news letter that's how I received this book you won't be disappointed.
