An easy and effortless read with an appreciable number of coffee break discussion points.

Being a Jain, I blindly followed a few principles as they were childhood habits but then the reasons behind them are cogently put forth in this book. Whilst it is not easy to abide by them completely, there shall definitely be few takeaways for everyone.

Just finished reading The Satvic Revolution and I can confidently say that this is one of the most practical and actionable lifestyle books I have read in recent times.

What I loved most about this book is its simplicity. It doesn't try to overwhelm the reader with complicated science, extreme diets, or unrealistic lifestyle changes. Instead, it focuses on seven fundamental habits that most of us already know but have gradually forgotten in today's fast-paced world.

The book starts by addressing one of the biggest challenges of modern life: what we eat. A simple yet powerful concept that stayed with me was categorizing food products into Red, Yellow, and Green lists based on their ingredients. The idea of carefully reading labels, identifying preservatives and harmful additives, and gradually moving towards cleaner and more natural food choices is both practical and easy to implement.

Another major theme is embracing a more plant-based lifestyle. Rather than forcing beliefs, the authors explain how plant-based alternatives such as pulses, millets, soy products, nuts, and seeds can meet nutritional requirements while being easier on the body. Whether or not one decides to become fully plant-based, the book certainly encourages more mindful eating.

The chapter on sleep was another standout. In a world that glorifies being busy, the book reminds us that quality sleep is not a luxury but a necessity. The emphasis on reducing screen time before bed, having an early dinner, sleeping early, and waking up around 5 AM was presented not as a rigid rule but as a pathway to gaining more energy, focus, and productive hours in life.

I also appreciated the book's perspective on movement and exercise. Instead of treating fitness as punishment, it encourages people to find activities they genuinely enjoy—whether that's running, dancing, walking, yoga, or sports. The message is simple: movement should be celebrated, not endured.

One of the most insightful sections was about relationships. The analogy of an air conditioner continuously running in the background to represent unresolved emotional baggage was incredibly relatable. The book emphasizes listening before advising, understanding before judging, and recognizing whether someone needs solutions or simply empathy. These lessons alone can significantly improve personal and professional relationships.

The discussion around purpose was equally meaningful. Drawing inspiration from concepts similar to Ikigai, the book encourages readers to discover what excites them, what gives meaning to their lives, and what motivates them to get out of bed every morning. Purpose does not necessarily have to be grand—it can simply be something that brings joy, contribution, and fulfillment.

Finally, one of the most powerful messages comes from the Bhagavad Gita: focus on your actions and efforts without becoming attached to the outcome. The book beautifully explains how much anxiety, stress, and disappointment in life come from our obsession with results. When we shift our focus to consistent effort and personal growth, life becomes far more peaceful and fulfilling.

What makes this book special is that it combines ancient wisdom, modern science, practical habits, and examples from different cultures into a framework that feels realistic and achievable. It is not merely a book about health; it is a book about living intentionally.

I would recommend The Satvic Revolution to anyone looking to improve their lifestyle, build healthier habits, find more peace of mind, and create a sustainable path towards a healthier and more fulfilling life.

The Sattvic Revolution is a deeply grounding and practical book that takes you back to the very basics of living—how we eat, think, feel, and exist in the world. Rather than overwhelming the reader with extremes, it gently explains life through simple, actionable habits that can create a powerful shift in one’s lifestyle, health, and mental well-being.

What truly stands out is how the book doesn’t just tell you what to do, but patiently explains how and why it impacts your body and mind. It encourages readers to widen their perspective and look at life more consciously, instead of operating on autopilot. Small changes, as the book emphasizes, can lead to massive transformations over time.

One of the most thought-provoking aspects is its exploration of food choices and ethics. It raises uncomfortable but necessary questions—why do we feel disturbed by the idea of eating cats or dogs, yet easily accept chicken or other animals as “protein”? This contrast highlights how deeply conditioning, culture, and habit shape our beliefs around food.

The book also courageously addresses the ongoing debate around vegetarian vs. non-vegetarian diets. It doesn’t oversimplify or preach, but instead provides clarity on what the body truly needs, separating facts from long-held myths we are born into and grow up believing. For many readers, the truths presented may be difficult to accept, especially in a world that often insists non-vegetarian food is the only solution for complete nutrition. This book challenges that narrative thoughtfully and scientifically, while still acknowledging that perspectives and needs may differ from person to person.

Overall, The Sattvic Revolution is an encouraging and eye-opening read. It’s not just about food—it’s about awareness, conscious living, and understanding the deeper connection between what we consume and how we live. A must-read for anyone seeking clarity, balance, and a more intentional way of life.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It did take me some time to finish it as I didn’t want to rush through it so I was taking my own time to read, absorb, observe and experiment. The book talks about the seven life changing habits that can transform us written by Subah and Harshvardhan. I can see it clearly that it is a labor of love and many hours and days or years of research and intense hard work. So, congratulations. It’s about more than 460 pages, 14 chapters about 7 habits explained through elaborate illustrations, diagrams and also examples. It is a book that should be by your bed side forever. There are innumerable issues the authors address like what food we should eat or not eat, several myths and beliefs.

One story that particularly touched me was about milk and whether drinking milk is a good habit for children any longer. In the olden days, the cows looked happier, today we don’t see any cows on the roads. And there's a chapter where they describe what happens to the cows, and how the milk is drawn from them and how the calves are deprived of the milk from their mother. And anybody who is going to give you anything in such unhappy, sorrowful circumstances cannot nurture your body.

Read it if you care for yourself, if you care for your health, if you care for your children and if you care for your country at large. Congratulations Penguin, for having faith in a subject like this and promoting it. We need these kinds of books.

Picked up this book by accident. Kept reading upto 300 pages, later to start thinking how did it even end up in my home. I never read non-fiction. And I'm just not able to put this book down. A little digging and my wife told me she had bought it online. She kept talking about some YouTube videos I absolutely don't have any idea about. Whatever.

The book claims to be the ultimate wellness guide. The authors Subah and Harsh(vardhan) are professionals in the field. They (and their team) call themselves Satvic Movement and are engaged in wellness and health movement. Where wellness is the motive.

Crippled by multiple physical, mental and spiritual issues, our society badly needs the principles taught in the book. The book contains 7 lessons, every single one of them beautifully designed (not tailored) for achieving the motive. Every lesson begins with a "need" (the why) for the lesson with a story you can relate to. Followed with the preaching of the technique, then the lesson takeaway, then with atleast 2 methods to practice in real life situations and ultimately overcoming obstacles.

All the 7 lessons are structured similarly, which gives the readers a boost forward to read. The language is easy, the scenarios are relatable. The pace of the book is really really fast.

Overall the guidance has been excellent. Looking forward to coming back to this book again as and when our memories fade. Great job Subah and Harsh. I pray we all succeed.

The Satvic Revolution is the best possible  guide to healthy living. Subah and Harshvardhan the founders of @satvicmovement , found their way out of chronic illness through natural living and now offer that path to others. The book outlines seven transformative habits that blend ancient Indian wisdom with modern science. The first part focuses on physical health- food, sleep, routine, while the second part gently introduces deeper aspects of well-being like mental clarity and spiritual balance. With a warm and encouraging tone, the book walks readers through these habits using real-life stories, illustrations, and simple, doable steps.

What I love the most about this book is how approachable the book feels. The authors don’t claim to be perfect or preach from a distance, they speak from experience, which gives the whole thing a grounded, honest energy. I didn’t feel pressured while reading it; instead, I felt invited. I've been following their youtube channel since years and have always been fascinated by their lifestyle. For me, reading this book was a must!

The changes suggested are practical. One doesn't need expensive tools or exotic ingredients, just a shift in mindset and a bit of willingness to begin. It reminded me that healing doesn’t have to be complicated. The authors give hope without hype, and that feels rare and refreshing.

Health is wealth, and The Satvic Revolution by Subah and Harshvardhan is a golden key to unlocking that treasure. If you’re seeking a practical guide to transform your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, this book is your go-to.

Drawing from ancient wisdom and modern science, the authors share seven life-changing habits that helped them heal from chronic illnesses and achieve peak health.

The stories, illustrations, and activities kept this book light and fun, making it an easy read despite being a chunky book. I appreciated the clear structure, with the first four habits focusing on physical health and the last three diving into mental and spiritual growth. The balance between practicality and deeper insights makes it unique.

I finished it feeling inspired and empowered to implement these habits, and I think anyone looking for a holistic approach to health will feel the same.

As a child, I have always wondered why materials, although extracted from their original natural source, are harmful. For instance, how and why is maida harmful when it is also extracted from wheat? It's a question I never asked or googled - I just trusted the wise elders. Similarly, why are sugar crystals harmful but sugar in dates and raisins acceptable, and what about jaggery - where does it lie on this spectrum? Some questions have always stayed with me.
I think this is a good book for corporate employees to make small lifestyle changes that can lead to big results. The 'Satvik Revolution' addresses many of these fundamental questions about food processing and its impact on our health. Not just that, it also gives a complete approach to health with an understanding that health is not just about food and sleep, but so much more - like our relationships with people around us, our spiritual health, and other aspects. I definitely recommend it

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book by Subah and Harshvardhan Saraf, the Satvic couple. They are already very popular on Youtube and now they have done an excellent job of bringing together all their core philosophies into a book. The book is divided into 7 habits (Daily routines including intermittent fasting, plant based eating, proper sleep schedules, exercise, relationships, right attitude to life and gratitude for all that life has offered us). Each habit has been discussed in full detail and all doubts that one may have regarding that are cleared out with logical explanations. There is nothing to believe with any of these habits. It is only for the readers to try out these habits for themselves to see if they have any benefits or not. These are evidence and experience based suggestions for everyone to inculcate and gain from. I would definitely buy copies of this book for gifting purposes.

It is such a simple read, it lists down the core principles using which our quality of life can be elevated to a richer experience. The book reads like a conversation with someone known and though everything that has been mentioned is something known and taught to us in our Indian upbringing, a revist and refresher in this format was a warm welcome.

All the knowledge in the book is already known to most of us. The writer has simplified these concepts, broken down into smaller digestable parts.

To conclde, the writer also knows the biggest problem is not the knowledge but is with the execution. The book also is wise enough to give us steps to stay on the path.

All the best to all the people who have read and decided to stay on this path !!

Simple book with amazing insights into how we can become a happier version of ourselves.

Doesn't go much technical, yet is not shallow to not provide any benefit to the reader.

Plus the way in which author(s) have devised ways for readers to assess themselves is a great plus point.

Recommended for reading if one is health conscious.

A simple read, I wish everyone in India at least picks it up. I still have to inculcate all that the book has spoken about, but it seems to be quite accurate.

One star less for having a little too simplistic examples. Would have looked for more complex real life situations.

Overall, a good read.

A good, easy-to-follow weekend read that captures the essence of key habits that could potentially lead us to a Satvik nature, without sounding like a „lecture“. While covering a wide range of topics, it may keep readers wishing some more depth. Overall, a recommendable read that helps us question our routines and habits.
