This textbook introduces the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from a technological perspective. Emphasis is placed on the core components of these systems, which include the Geographic Database and the corresponding Database Management System. Fundamental methods and algorithms for analyzing geographic data as well as disseminating geographic content on the web are also central to the discussion. This resource is designed to serve as an aid and reference for both students (at the undergraduate and graduate levels) and professionals.
