The final battle for the fate of the universe is about to begin.
Leda Pandora joined the Legion of Angels to level up her magic and gain the powers she needed to save her brother. Five years later, she’s gearing up to save her family one more time.
Leda’s sister Bella has fallen victim to a powerful curse that’s robbed her of her free will and transformed her into a deity-killing weapon. To save her sister, Leda journeys into the Veil, an ancient, long-forgotten territory now ruled by warlords and pirates.
But what begins as a hunt for the cure to Bella’s curse soon unearths a consortium of old enemies that refuse to stay buried—and escalates into a battle for the fate of the whole universe.

Ella Summers has been writing stories for as long as she could read; she's been coming up with tall tales even longer than that. One of her early year masterpieces was a story about a pigtailed princess and her dragon sidekick. Nowadays, she still writes fantasy. She likes books with layered plots, lots of action and adventure, and a touch of romance. When she is not busy writing or spending time with her two young children, she makes the world safe by fighting robots.
Originally from the U.S., Ella currently resides in Switzerland. She is the author of Sorcery and Science, a fantasy adventure series set in a world splintered by magic and technology.
God’s Battleground is book twelve in the Legion of Angels series and should be read in order. This is the final official book in the series (more on that later).
Ever read the first few pages of a book and immediately know it is going to be special? That’s the feeling I had with God’s Battleground.
It’s split into three parts. Ten chapters in the first part, thirteen in the second, and fourteen in the third. I won’t go into details about what happens in the plot because it is epic and trust me you won’t want anything spoiled.
We don’t see very much of Nero in part 1, the reason I mention this is because in previous books this has bothered me (don’t worry we do see a LOT of Nero) but it didn’t this time. I feel that Leda and Nero are in a very secure relationship at this point that can overcome anything. The love between them is so strong and frankly inspiring so I didn’t think it was realistic with their lives, nor did they need to be together all the time. The nostalgia and reverence I feel towards their relationship is endless.
“”Just promise me you’ll come back to me.” “I’ll always come back to you,” I promised fiercely. “And I’ll always come for you when you need me.””
Nero was so protective in this book and it just made me fall for him even harder, which I didn’t think was possible.
Leda is so powerful and such an amazing mother. I love how kind and caring she is, but also adore her crazy thought process and humour. Poor Leda was stretched thin at the beginning with the literal weight of the world on her shoulders, I really felt for her. I’ve never seen her so frazzled before, the way she dealt with everything is a true testament to her strength.
The family feels in this book was top notch and one of the main messages from this series for me. We see all our favourite characters: Angel, Ivy, Drake, Alec, Jace, Damiel, Cadence, Harker, Bella, Calli, Zane, Aerilyn, Rhydian, Tessa, Sunfire, Gin, Stash, Faris, Grace, Nyx and so many more; all of which have caved a way into my heart. I think this long list makes it evident how great of an author Ella Summers is to make each character loveable and distinct in such a large cast.
Their little family (Leda, Nero and Sierra) is definitely the heart of this big group. Sierra is such a little warrior in this book! She was adorable, her love and how proud she was of Leda made me tear up. I was a complete emotional mess reading this book.
“”You’re even worse than your mother.” “Good.” Sierra planted her hands on her hips, chest puffed out, looking victorious. “Mommy breaks bad guys. Sierra break bad guys too.””
This series is insane! It’s so massive and complex. Sometime with these huge, plot heavy series, the last book can be disappointing and fails to live up to expectations or to tie up all the plots sufficiently. But Ella Summers did such a fantastic job; she didn’t disappoint, the plots were all tied up with a bow and it wasn’t anti-climatic. And she also managed to completely surprise me at every turn. This book was different to what I was expecting in the best way, I could never of imagined how things played out. Summers imagination is out of this world. How she draws back to every single detail is amazing.
While this is the last official book in the series, we do have a bonus book (Leda’s log) and a Sierra series coming! While I am sad that this series, which I have loved for YEARS, has come to an end, I am happy with the characters’ journeys. And am pleased it won’t be the last we see of them. I’m looking forward to so much of what’s coming from Summers: the books I’ve mentioned above, the Arina and her children series (also characters from this world), her Paragons series, her Sorcery & Science series and probably much more!

Re-read 15th Feb 2025:
I’m going through a re-reading phase at the moment and of course this book had to be in it. Leda and Nero’s book is just as awesome the second time around.
Things that still stood out to me: *spoilers* • Protective Nero • Leda being her chaotic, strong self • Seeing Leda’s family find love •
Ngl it was tough to get through this book. I forced myself to come back to it after setting it aside for a couple weeks just for the sake of finishing the series.
The truth is, it feels like this series had its climax in book 10, and everything after that just sort of fell flat and felt like an afterthought. On top of that, I think I started noticing that after Leda and Nero got together in the first half of the series, it felt like he then became a side character who showed up every now and then to remind us he was still part of the books, but didn't really participate in all the action. And their daughter, Sierra, who is supposed to be this uber important person, just gets sort of ignored after she's born? It was honestly giving workaholic-parents-who-don't-have-time-for-their-daughter vibes and I just wasn't feeling it. I think in book 11, which takes place 3 years after she was born, she didn't make an appearance until a good chunk of the way in.
Overall it was a series that started out completely amazing but ultimately fizzled out because it was stretched longer than it should have been.
Despite all her new duties and responsibilities, Leda is determined to focus on one: finding and curing her sister Bella. I enjoyed Vertigo and the Nectar/Venom search.
I have to admit I had a hard time staying with this one. Not sure why. Partly annoyed over too much of Leda’s frivolousness balanced against action. Some frustration over the inability to access the bonus stories to get the background details of what was being talked about. Some confusion over who’s with whom related to whom. And some vague irritations. But there were lots of cool and funny stuff, especially involving Sierra.
Footnote: 1) One easy way to fairly redistribute some of Leda’s territory is to extend the borders of the territories touching hers outward into hers by X # of miles all along it. This makes her smaller and theirs bigger. Her smaller one can thereby be assigned to a new archangel.
2) Very frustrating, and unfair, to have all that interesting info hinted at about Leda’s family and only being able to get the back story(s) through joining her newsletter. Which would be fine, except there’s a catch! You only get the current bonus stories after you sign up; you have to wait until she gets around to publishing a Kickstarter anthology of all of them to get the older ones. Most writers give you access to all the bonus stories upon joining newsletter.
Fave scenes: catching Vertigo, the apple battle, Leda telling off the council and the enchanted crayons.
Nero had the goblet now. He captured my gaze and didn’t let go. “No words could possibly express how I feel about you, Leda, so I won’t even try.” Emotion crept into his voice, breaking through years of hard training and total self-control. “All I will say is this: I believe in you.” He stroked his hand down my face. “You are stronger than Mordon.” He leaned in toward me. “Kiss, kiss, kiss,” our friends chanted. Nero moved in closer. “Crush him,” he growled against my lips.'...
AHHHHH I can't believe this series has come to an end! Although it looks like we may get some spin off books which I am so happy about!
Overall it was a great read! It did feel like their was two separate plotlines in the book which made it a bit clunky (Part 1: Cure Bella, Part2: End the Guardians). The last battle felt a bit underwhelming considering how long the Guardians had been plotting their revenge against the Gods and Angels. Apart from this the humour was amazing, I will never get enough of Pandora and Nero, they will always be one of my top OTPs.
The final book in this 12 book series, and it’s been a great ride. This book wraps up a lot of questions, and even takes you on a journey through Leda and Nero’s past. The God’s and the Demon’s will have to come together for the final battle, that threatens not only Leda and Nero, but their daughter Sierra as well. This will test the bonds of not only Leda and Nero, but of all the family and those we’ve come to know throughout the series, plus a couple extras. One part of the story is finding a cure for Bella, and within this part of the story, Leda and her family will come together as never before to not only save Bella, but to save the worlds.
This series has everything I love in a series, and one I would absolutely read again and even put this series on my bookshelves. Even though this is the end of Leda’s story, and I’m a little sad about that, the story will continue with Sierra in time. A highly recommended series for those that love the urban fantasy genre as much as I do. This is a 5-Star series.
I couldn’t contain my excitement when I saw this twelfth book in the series because Leda and Nero are so much fun, as well as every other character in this series. In this one, poor Leda and Nero have to trust each other and others to keep their families safe even if they have to surrender themselves to do so. There is just so much happening in this book, I’m not sure where to begin without spoiling the events. However, I can say that the great writing and characters we’ve come to expect from this author is front and center all through this. Sometimes in this one, because there was so much, I thought this could have been more than one book, but no matter, I enjoyed myself immensely. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
It was bittersweet reading the 12th and final Legion of Angels book. I have loved this series since I read the first book Vampire’s Kiss.
This book picks up a little bit after the events of the last book Demons Mark. Leda and her family are still searching for Belle who ran off. This book was full of action and had a few twists and turns. It was great seeing all of Leda and Nero’s family and friends throughout. I will say it did feel like the speed of the book was a little rushed at times and there were still some minor things that were left unanswered. However, I believe that was intentional and is a great lead into a future spin-off. I would definitely recommend this series. I was provided an ARC which I voluntarily reviewed.
I’ve been waiting for this for ages! I have loved and enjoyed every single book of the series. This one was spectacular, I loved that we got a good glimpse of Sierra’s power. I couldn’t put this book down, hence I read it in 3 hours. Leda and Nero’s story is one for the ages and I love the fact that Callie and the others finally have significant others, it’s soo sweet. Overall I would definitely rate this a 15/10, it is that that good. And now I can’t wait for the other book with that cliffhanger, I’m curious to know the sizes of Angels babies. Everyone please go read this book, if it’s your first time to the series, I definitely invite you to start from book one to get a real good glimpse of Leda from the beginning, a lot has happened since then. Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!
The final book of the series. Where to start from? I am going to miss each and everyone of the characters so I’ll start from our FMC, Leda. Feisty!! That’s the first word that comes to mind when I thjnk of Leda. She is that girl and more. Her relationship with Nero is just beautiful. They were made for each other and I love how attuned they are to one another’s feelings and mannerisms. Special shout-out to my favorite people, Harker, Damiel and Alec, they were such a blast. I’m really going to miss this series and I think if you’re into fantasy and you need something to breeze through(though this is like the 12th book in the series) try out the legion of angels and you won’t be disappointed
I just love this series and and hate to see it end. Leda and Nero are one of the best love stories ever. Their daughter Sierra is just as funny and powerful as her parents, well actually more powerful than her parents. It was great to see gods and demons, angels dark and light, and other supernaturals pull together against a common enemy. When someone asks what kind of books I love I tell them paranormal romance, action, comedy books all rolled into one. Thank you Ella for bringing this series to life.
I spent the majority of this book waiting for it to be over. There was just too much important stuff that was glossed over or hand waved away while superfluous stuff sent on for an entire chapter: Leda and company find a map of forgotten worlds in a void. And in the next chapter they're just there. How did they get there? They didn't know where it was. There are big battles that are over in 1 or 2 pages with everything working in favor of the heroes, but dinner with the family filled with sexual innuendos goes on for entire chapters, multiple times.
What started out as an interesting premise for a series has turned into mommy porn.
One of my most loved series has come to an end, and what a wonderful ending to a series full of snark, romance, fighting and loving. All our much loved characters have found love, Leda and Nero had a wonderful ending. I can’t wait for the next series from this amazing author! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I absolutely adore this series, cannot wait for more!!
I absolutely adore this series, cannot wait for more!! Leda continues the crazy and takes us on another crazy battle of the minds and the story development is pretty darned great but I do hope to find out what happened to a few of the characters the writer hasn’t wrapped up what happened to them to be quite curious!
Well it's 4.30am and I had to finish this wonderful book. The whole series is brilliantly written but to end this chapter with such happiness looking toward the future is excellent and not anticlimactic. The battle was intense the victory joyous, what more could a reader ask for.
This book has to be my favorite I have never laughed so hard Leda is amazing and so is Sierra the two of them are hilarious and what happens to Nero was absolutely unbelievable I loved it the rest of the gang were amazing
Leda will always seem to be the agent of Chaos. Be it good or bad she will somehow get this things done. The ride she takes you on will definitely be entertaining.
I have loved this series since the beginning. The characters banter and connections as they combat tremendous odds with unique solutions is always a fun ride. It seems Sierra will get her on series. Just think how insane her parents will be. Enjoy.
I have been enjoying this series since I read the first book. Fun characters, great magic, and fights. And some romance. All balanced nicely. A great read any time
I liked the book from start to end. I didn't want the book to end. I'm literally just rambling to fill this review up. Just read the book you won't be disappointed if you're a true Leda fan.
