In a Pinch

Rate this book
When you fall for the one person you shouldn’t, you just might find yourself in a pinch…

Nothing says Happy New Year’s quite like walking into what you think is a meeting for your promotion, only to walk out jobless.
Everyone around me is earning promotions, getting married, or popping out babies. But here I am: jobless, single, and riding the struggle bus.
When my bestie hooks me up with a job offer too good to turn down, I find myself starting over on the other side of the country. Settling in and fulfilling my best friend duties, I agree to attend a cooking class with Isla, which sounds fun until her grumpy future brother-in-law walks in. He's off limits, a total jerk, and not the one I’m supposed to fall for. So, why can’t I keep my eyes and mind off him?

When the chemistry cooks up, can I admit I fell for the one I shouldn't? Or will I burn us to the ground?

To say I was excited to be able to read this eARC in exchange for my honest review is an understatement.

I was so giddy with the first book i couldnt wait for this one. This book spoke to me and reminded me how complicated friendship and love can be when you feel lost. The FMC is going through a quarter life crisis, and when her best friend who moved across the country 9 months ago suggests she make the jump; she almost counts her out. The move opens doors and brings her on a journey she previously could only dream of. This book merges friendship, love, blood family, and chosen family seamlessly! I did not want this story to end. I can only hope the author decides to give us more on this friend group!

ARC REVIEW 4.75⭐️

"Get your dick beaters off my jar of tomatoes. I've got this." - Addie ( Favourite Quote #1)

"Yes, Chef." - Addie (Favourite Quote #2)

I love a woman with sass. A love a woman who speaks her mind. I love a woman who knows what she wants. I love women who embrace who they are.

I easily loved this. I need more of Sam and Addie because their dynamic was *Chef's Kiss*.

I inhaled this ARC like Addie did the eggs and bacon after her first sleepover with Sam.

Synopsis: When your life is falling apart, what’s better than moving across the country to live with your best friend? Better yet, she drags you to a cooking class lead by her future brother in law and your growing feelings for him can definitely leave you in a pinch…

Review: So this lovely book was an arc that I revived and I have nothing but nice words to say about this book. I absolutely loved it so much and loved Sam and Addie’s story. It was genuinely a cute sweet (and spicy) story that I needed to bring me out of my reading slump, and I can’t get enough of it. Honestly sad that it ended. The banter between them was so perfect and I need more is Sam and Addie. Don’t even get me started on the more spicy scenes👀 all I can say is, ties are more useful than just making men look really hot😉

Alongside their love story, you get this sweet and hilarious story with Addie’s best friend, Isla, and their dynamic together is honestly now one of my favorites that I had read. And her soon to be husband Cal (Sam’s brother) and Addie had me cracking up and their wedding was so beautiful and had me crying at work (sorry not sorry) but now I need to read their book asap!!!!!

I’m so so grateful to have been given this opportunity to read this book💗

”No one has called to me quite like Sam. He challenges me in the best ways and makes me feel more like myself than I have in months. Perfectly reminding me that I am just fine where I am.”🤍
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Happy Release Day!!! In A Pinch is out now!! It is the second book in the Love Island Duology but it can be read as a standalone!

I was very lucky to be selected to have an ARC of this amazing book! Getting to watch the growth Sam and Addie have throughout this book was so fun! Their story will have you laughing out loud, tearing up, and all around wishing you could have a love like this one.❤️‍🔥

Sam is a chef and doesn’t get along with his family while Addie just moved in with her bestfriend, Isla, because her life back home blew up. She moves half way across the world to get a fresh start and find herself. Isla and Addie sign up for a cooking class that is taught by none other than Sam (Isla’s future BIL) and the banter we get between Addie and Sam in cooking class was some of my favorite that I’ve read.

My favorite part of this book was the friendships. Addie and Isla are the best of friends and are there for each other through everything life has to throw at them and I related to their friendship so much because they reminded me a lot of me and my bestfriend.  Having those kinds of friendships to get you through life really does make it easier. I myself went through something similar so getting to see it play out for Addie gave me hope. This book gave me all the feels and I wish I could reread it again because it was THAT good!🥹

“Who would’ve thought that the shattering of all that I knew was necessary for all the pieces to fall right where they should?”🩷

Thank you elle jordan for allowing me to be one of the first to read this beautiful book! I can’t wait for more of your stories🫶🏼

I want to thank the author for allowing me to read and review this ARC!

I can't recommend it highly enough! This delightful novel captures the essence of life's unexpected moments with humor and heart.

The story revolves around two captivating main characters: Sam Greene, a talented chef who feels misunderstood by his family and is on a quest to find meaning in his career, and Addie Hunter, an office manager whose life has recently crumbled, leaving her swearing off men. Their journeys are beautifully intertwined, creating a rich narrative filled with authentic emotions and relatable struggles.

Jordan’s writing is both engaging and witty, making it hard to put the book down. I found myself laughing and rooting for Sam as he navigated the culinary world, trying to prove his worth, while Addie's determination to rebuild her life after heartbreak was truly inspiring.

The themes of friendship, resilience, and the beauty of taking risks are woven throughout, offering poignant insights that linger long after the last page. If you’re looking for a refreshing read that will lift your spirits, grab a copy and enjoy the ride!

Tropes: enemies to lovers, best friend’s BIL, grumpy sunshine
Dual POV 1st person

When Addie’s expected promotion turns into being fired, she ends up moving cross country from Colorado to Maine for a new job and temporarily she moves in with her bestie, Isla and her fiance, Cal. When Addie and Isla take a cooking class, she doesn’t expect to fall for the teacher Sam, Cal’s grumpy younger brother.

There’s a lot happening in this book- in a good way! It’s a cute book and a fun read. There’s a lot of interpersonal relationship drama with Sam and his family, understandably and then how Addie is struggling with where she is in her life- I definitely remember those unsettled, fallen behind, going nowhere, what am I doing with my life feelings from when I was her age. So overall I really enjoyed the book. Sam and Addie’s relationship was so sweet once they got over themselves. There’s also a special place in my heart for chef romance stories- I don’t know what it is about them but I just…EAT…. those stories up (har har har)

I do think I missed why Sam and Addie hate each other, so that made the beginning of the story a little confusing. Is it just because of the relationship issues between Sam and Cal and their effect on Isla? That doesn’t seem very realistic. And normally I don’t mind the miscommunication trope but for this story it seemed like Sam was purposely trying to misunderstand Addie, even though her reasons fell a tiny bit flat.

But other than that, it was a good read.

One of the biggest absolute gems in this booksta community has written her SECOND novel you guys- and damn….it was delicious.

We met our girl Addie in Hawaiian Holiday as Isla’s bestie who got held up and was the reason that Isla and Cal were able to fall in love. This firecracker seems to have everything going wrong for her at this point in her life and after some help from Isla moves her entire life in with her and Cal in order to start fresh. Starting fresh has its own obstacles…one of them being Cal’s brother, Sam. As Addie and Sam dance around their attraction to one another as best they can driving forces seem to always have them in the same vicinity until something finally has to give.

Sam and Addie are both dealing with their own baggage in their own ways and have to find how to manage it together and with one another instead of fighting against each other. When they’re finally able to acknowledge the reality of their feelings and their relationship they realize there is so much more there than they could’ve ever imagined.

These two were absolutely adorable. I saw myself so much in Addie and loved that Sam was her calm but also her chaos. They truly brought out the worst…and then the best in one another and were each others missing puzzle pieces in their lives.

Thank you so much to my girl Elle for the eARC for review 🩷 Honored to be a part of your journey and so proud of you!!!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Length: 335 pages

In a Pinch is a heartwarming, relatable romance that perfectly balances humor, emotional depth, and sizzling chemistry. When Addie’s life takes a nosedive—losing her job and being pushed out by her roommate—she decides to start anew and moves to Maine to be near her best friend. Enter Sam, the grumpy, talented but misunderstood chef who’s constantly trying to prove himself to his disapproving father.

Addie and Sam’s instant attraction is undeniable, but both are weighed down by insecurities. Addie’s fear of being left behind while her friends move on with their lives and success and Sam’s struggle with family expectations lead to internal conflicts that keep them apart. Watching them navigate their personal growth, face their fears, and find solace in each other is truly rewarding.

The banter between Addie and Sam is sharp and witty, adding levity to their emotional journeys, while their chemistry crackles off the page. The story’s blend of charm and heart makes it a compelling read that shows the importance of embracing who you are, no matter where life takes you.

This was such an adorable story.

Thank you to Elle Jordan and publishing for granting me with the eARC version of this story.

This story starts with the FMC, Addie, going through a transition in her life where she is trying her best not to let her friends and family think that she is a failure.
The MMC, Sam, is a chef whose brother is engaged to Addie's best friend and has decided to isolate himself from his family because of his complicated relationship with his father.
Addie is the happy sunshine to Sam's grumpy persona but somehow, they seem to not get enough of each other. But Addie starts to question if her relationship will alter the perception that her friends have of her.

I love how the characters are drawn to each other and even though they both try to deny the feelings developing, they just can't get enough of each other.

My favorite quotes from the book:
* "Never in my f*cking life did I think feeding a man a french fry would be a borderline erotic experience, but here we are." - Addie
* "Maybe I am p*ssy whipped. Is that the boy version of d!ckmatized?" - Sam
* "If I said I wanted you to be only mine, would that freak you out?" - Sam
"Not even a little, I'm already yours." - Addie

ARC READ: I ate this up in a whole day!

Possible spoilers.

So to start, Addie getting let go from her job was a blessing in disguise for her and move to Maine(where her bestie Isla lives) for a better job as a legal assistant all because her coworker stole her ideas to take her promotion.

I love that we meet the grumpy chef Sam who sees Addie join his cooking class with her bestie Isla(his soon to be sis in law) and he’s completely enamored by Addie since the beginning even when they met at Christmas.

I love the banter in this book! Addie brings the sass and I love that Sam takes it and brings it back.

A fave quote:
“The second she stood up for me at dinner. I was done for.” 🥰 -Sam

The part that bothers me is that Addie seems to care too much about what her best friend will think about her dating her soon to be brother in law. Like you should be happy. Caring about what other people think is more effort than it’s worth. That’s the only problem I had with this.

Another good quote:
“One minute I wanted to punch him in his damn throat and now I look forward to when he’s down mine.” -Addie ….The scream I scrumpt🥵

In the end
I always am a sucker for a happy ending and that always gets 5⭐️ from me!

ARC read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the first book I’ve read from Elle Jordan and I really enjoyed it. I did NOT read the first in the duology, but I don’t feel like that took anything away from this book as I love a Happily Ever After.

This was a grumpy/sunshine featuring Addie, a mid-20-something who finds herself unexpectedly unemployed and at the end of her lease. She moves to be closer to her best friend and help with wedding planning.

I found this book predictable, but not in a bad way. I appreciate the perspective of being in your 20’s and feeling like everyone is moving on without you, especially with Sam’s familial disapproval of his career choices. I also liked that Addie is independent, relishing her new job and one room apartment.

I felt like Jordan really hit her stride once the characters start getting along, prior to that I found Addie unnecessarily hostile and annoyingly quippy. I would also feel like my best friend would draw and quarter me if I moved halfway across the country to live by her and then just didn’t answer her calls for 2 months. The premise of her moving was to help and be near her best friend but then she gets caught up in a secret romance and just ghosts?

Regardless, this was a fun, quick read and I would definitely read the first in the duology. I enjoyed Jordan’s writing style and it checked a lot of boxes for me in what I’m looking for when I’m reading a modern romance.

I loved this book. The story follows Sam and Addie and their journey to each other. Addie starts off the story living in Colorado but a lay off has her moving across the country to Maine where he best friend is living with her fiance.

Addie finds a new amazing job and a grumpy chef who can match her sass and attitude. The only downside is that he is her best friend’s future brother in law that she believes is kinda a jerk.

Their grumpyxsunshine dynamic is fantastic. There is just something an about a grumpy, dirty-mouthed chef that is just perfection.

This book starts with Addie going through some big life transitions leading to her moving across the country to where her best friend lives. Addie meets Sam, her best friend’s very moody and broody soon to be brother-in-law. The banter between these two was top notch, the tension was just right, and the spice was spicy! While being an entertaining read it also has an emotional component where we get to experience growth and understanding between the two main characters. Thank you to Elle and her team for the ARC!!

I want to thank Elle Jordan for sending me a ARC of this book. This was my first ARC and I was so excited to be a part of this experience. With that being said this is an unbiased and 100% honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. There wasn’t a single thing about it that I didn’t like. I loved Addie’s character I felt instantly connected to her and I really enjoyed watching her growth. Also her little phrases gave me the giggles. Sam is book boyfriend material. I am in love with him and I’m only jealous that he is fictional and not a real life person. The spice in this was chefs kiss…pun intended.

I loved the entire vibe of their story. Sam is a grumpy asshole but turns into a complete cinnamon roll…another intended pun. I am so sad this book ended. I can’t wait to check out the first book in this series and I look forward to the third installment to this series in spring 2025! I really enjoyed Elle Jordan’s writing style and will absolutely be reading more of her books!

ARC review:

☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ what a great read! Frienemies is a great way to explain the story line- lots of teasing and funny quips back and forth between Sam and Addie 💕

Honestly, what I loved most about this book was that these characters had depth. So many romance novels leave the main characters at face value, meanwhile Elle did a fantastic job of giving them personalities and real life issues (maybe hitting a little too close to home 😅) I also LOVED the girl friendships in this book. Yay for a full, well rounded romance story!

I hadn’t read the first book in the series, so I imagine some of the jokes went over my head. I don’t think it’s necessary to read it though to enjoy this book! This is definitely a light fun read, slight slow-burn, with some medium spice sprinkled in. Glad to have this on my shelf 💖 now I really want cinnamon rolls haha

Overall rating: 4.5 ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

ARC Review: 4.5 ⭐️. I thoroughly enjoyed reading every page! If you love rom-coms, this one will not disappoint! Somewhat spoiler: Based on the title, the only thing I would have like was for Addie to be more of a baker, not just bake one thing really well. I also felt like her job didn’t really add anything to the story other than making her move across country. Overall though, I really loved reading this and struggled to put it down!

ARC review

Our FMC is a sassy redhead that is down on her luck and thinks she is failing at life. Her bestie finds her the opportunity to move near her across the country and start over fresh.

He is a broody and misunderstood chef that is the estranged brother of the FMC’s BFF’s fiancé.

The BFFs decide to take a class together that is taught by none other than the MMC.

Their dislike for each other grows to desire and they both help bring out the best in each other. Their insecurities and faults find a safe place in each other. There was some familial dysfunction and emotional family trauma discussed. There is growth seen from both MCs.

Overall I thought it was a cute rom-com that was enjoyable and easy to read. There is some spice in it, but only a little bit. I would read another book by this author.

It is book 2 in a duology but can 100% be read as a stand-alone as I did not read the first and I had no trouble following along.

A huge thank you to the author for the advanced copy. This is my first book by Elle Jordan.

• Frenemies to Lovers
• Romcom
• Grumpy Sunshine

The book started out a little slow for me. At the start, we received a lot of insight into the FMC’s situation, which set up the book. It took a bit for the romance to really take a front seat. Once it did though, it was super cute!

The spicy scene with the cooking was 🙌🏻

If you’re a fan of slow burns, I recommend this romance.

This book is super cute. Hot chef vibes!
Such a classic rom com. The banter between the main couple and also her friends was perfect.
Spice🌶 was nice, quite mild but nice.
Really enjoyed this storyline. Adeline has really realistic feelings that everyone in her life is moving up, getting married and having babies. I think a lot of women can relate to that.
Overall loved it.
Actually made cinnamon rolls while readying this book (if you know you know).
Glad to receive this ARC 😀

♥️RomCom
💋Grumpy x Sunshine
♥️Sassy, No Filter FMC
💋Misunderstood, Broody MMC
♥️Frenemies to Lovers
💋Mutual Pining & Jealousy
♥️Banter

At its core, this is a romcom; light, fluffy, funny and of course spicy! There is so much banter and chemistry between Sam and Addie. I loved the evolution of their relationship. I giggled so much with the MCs’ internal monologues but also with so many of the interactions between the main and secondary characters. Overall, I smiled nonstop and enjoyed this read all the way through!

Elle did a fantastic job writing Sam. He is completely misunderstood but his character progression really builds, I went from being in the fence about him to want to burn the world for him. As his layers are revealed, you understand how sweet and swoony he is under all the broody and prickly demeanor. I enjoyed Addie’s character growth and how she grew through her identity/existential crisis.

Even with mutual pining and jealousy, deeper issues regarding dysfunctional family dynamics and emotional parental trauma, this book is low angst.

This is part of a duet but can be read as a standalone. However, I loved the first book and totally recommend reading it!

Thanks to Elle Jordan for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Cal and Isla were cute, but Addie and Sam are so FUN. I love Addie’s sass and Sam’s grumpiness. I love the chef and baker concept. I felt the preview in the first book and kept feeling those sparks.

My only complaint is with women who call their friends their “bitches”. I don’t do this - I understand it’s a term of endearment, but it’s just cringy to me.

This book is such a cute romcom!

Adaline “Addie” Hunter is a sassy, spunky, bossy perfectionist who strives to be the absolute best at everything. After being blindsided by her employer and roommate, Addie finds herself jobless and practically without a place to live all in the same day. Addie’s best friend Isla, who lives across the country, convinces her to make the move from Colorado to Maine for a fresh start. Once Addie gets into town, Isla tells her that she’s going with her to her new cooking class because she doesn’t want to go alone. Addie is a baker and already knows how to cook, but she lets Isla drag her along anyway. When they get there, they discover that the chef teaching the class is Isla’s fiancé Cal’s brother, Samuel “Sam” Reynolds. The same Sam that Addie had met over Christmas while visiting Isla. The same Sam that was rude, grumpy and rolled his eyes at her after she called him out for his behavior. The same Sam she couldn’t keep her eyes off of. Turns out, Sam can’t keep his eyes off of her either. After a few more run-ins, complete with verbal sparring sessions, things start to shift in their relationship. They start spending more time together behind the scenes as Addie tries to rebuild her life and soon find out that they enjoy each other’s company more than they thought they would.

One thing I really loved about this book in particular was the banter between Sam and Addie; He’s the typical broody grump and she’s the sassy firecracker, so that dynamic made for a lot of laugh out loud moments! I also enjoyed the journey they both took to face their past trauma. In the midst of dealing with their challenges, they bonded and fell in love. My favorite was watching Sam soften just for her. It was perfection!

As for the tension and spice, I’ll never look at ties and frosting the same, I know that! These two are SO HOT together!

Overall, this book was an easy read and a great introduction to Elle’s writing for me! It can be read as a standalone, even though it’s book two in a series (Love Island Duology). I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romcoms with a side of spicy spice!

Favorite Quotes:

In a pinch was funny, sexy, and super cute. If you did not read the first book, it takes three or four chapters to get the plot.

The MFC Addie/Shortcake is a firecracker of a redhead. She was full of witty banter, cute comebacks and sayings that made me smile so big my face hurt😆➡️ (get your dick beaters off my jar of tomatoes). But she also has a sweet side and worries about the happiness of everybody else around her. Plus her love language is cooking homemade cinnamon rolls. 🤌🏻
Hers and Isla’s friendship is one that every girl dreams of. They can go to each other for everything, have each others backs, watch trash tv together and banter like sisters. Truly reminds me of me and my best friend 💖

Sam/Prince charming, at first I was like, “Who’s this ass hat?” But you soon find out why the man is so grumpy. Seriously his dad is a capital DICK!! no wonder the guy has a hard shell. Once he starts the soften up, he truly is the best and not to mention he has brown curls, olive complexion and he can cook Swoon.😍😍😍 Also the man is a freak in the sheets🥵

In the end, I could’ve used another entire book, Sam and Addie. I adored a couple.

Thank you for the ARC opportunity Elle Jordan♥️

“Life isn’t a race, and there is no line to determine whether or not you are winning or unsuccessful. Everyone is different. Look at me with my family. Chase your happy and fuck the rest. It’ll figure itself out.”

“You’ve got a great view. I thought it looked pretty last night, but first thing in the morning? Wow.”
It tumbles out of my mouth before I could think better of it. “Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about you.”

I am the storm cloud to her sunshine. It puzzles me what she could possibly see in me.

“Uh-uh, eyes on me Shortcake, I want to see them roll when you come for me for the first time.”

Slowly, he weaseled himself from someone I wanted to throat chop to someone I want to talk to on my bad days.

Maybe I’m pussy whipped. Is that the boy version of dickmatized?

Me, here with Sam. Same, finally laughing and enjoying his family again. I guess I wasn’t broken after all, just a little lost.

Damn, this is really the forever type of love.

What happens when you think you have your whole life figured out and that you will get a big promotion at work but your lazy coworker who stole your ideas goes behind your back and gets it instead? Or when your roommate practically kicks you out of your shared apartment because she and her boyfriend want to move in together?

Well, you move to Maine, at the insistence of your very supportive family, to start over with your best friend, who can’t cook to save her life and her fiancé and find a new job that you love and maybe just maybe you find the love of your life during a cooking class, who is also your best friends fiancé’s grumpy younger brother. What could possibly go wrong – or right?

I just wanted to say a quick shoutout and thank you to Elle for letting me be a part of the ARC Team – this book was so good – I literally could not put it down and read it in 2 days. This book had me giggling, kicking my feet, crying, and full-out laughing!

One of my favorite lines from this book is one that Addie says to Sam – ‘I love you. Like, a lot, and it scares me. This is a new feeling for me, and I don’t know how to do it right. But I think I’m more scared of not getting to love you.’ I don’t know why but this resonated so much with me because I do feel sometimes like Addie did - that everyone else around me is moving and having these huge milestones in life like getting married and having kids and I feel like sometimes I’m stuck in the same place. But life isn’t a race, and we can’t sprint to the finish line without leaving something behind that we didn’t know was there, maybe sometimes starting over doesn’t have to be so bad, it can lead to something truly magical.

Tropes: Supportive Family (Her)/Non-Supportive Family (Him), Grumpy/Sunshine, Forced Proximity, Mutual Jealousy, Slow Burn, Possessive, Miscommunication, Reconciliation with Family Members, Open Door.

In A Pinch by Elle Jordan was the perfectly cute and spicy romantic read that I needed to get me out of my reading slump. The funny banter between Addie and Sam kept me hooked to the book and made me finish it in 2 sittings.

Synopsis- Addie is going through a quarter life crisis after being fired from her job. When her best friend who is soon to be married hooks her up with a job offer too good to turn down, she finds herself starting over on the other side of the country. Settling in and fulfilling her best friend duties, she agrees to attend a cooking class with her, which sounds fun until her grumpy future brother-in-law walks in. He's off limits, a total jerk, and not the one she is supposed to fall for ( but man he is hot af).
Rest of the story you can imagine but the banter you cannot. As evident from some of my favorite quotes which are sassy at times and endearing at others.

Quotes I love:
“I was looking for a sign, but I wasn't expecting life to bitch slap me with it. How rude”

“Should I be wishing them well? Probably. It might do me some good to put some good karma in the world, but I’m a bit of a petty bitch, and they did me dirty. Dumbasses.”

“Get your dick beaters off my jar of tomatoes. I've got this.”

“God, I hate to see her come, but I love to watch her go”

“A wise man once told me to either nut up or shut up.”

“When your whole heart is walking outside your chest, it’s hard to take your eyes off it.”

“I get why Isla banged Cal in a closet. A man in a suit is just one of the finer things in life”

To say I loved Addie would be an understatement tbh. She was a badass and I wanted to be her. Period. And if I get a hot chef who is head over heels in love with me then who am I to say no. That guy is not only in love with her, he adores her and that is so cute to watch. Watching him grow and overcome the years of resentment towards his family was also so rewarding. the female friendships the author potrayed in the story was *chef's kiss*.
Read it if you like-
-Chef Romance
-Confident and sassy FMC who knows she is a badass
-A brilliant tattooed chef
-Frenemies to lovers
-GrumpyXSassy
-Secret dating

I was so giddy the whole time I was reading it. The writing made me laugh out loud a lot of times
Although this is the second book in a series, you can read it as a stand-alone. I did and loved it.
The dynamics between Addie and Sam was so refreshing. There was saas, there was banter, there was lust and feely feelings and also butterflies. What more do i need to devour it and man did i devour it! I finished it in 2 days and now is staring in the horizon waiting for the author to give me some bonus content to lap up more of them.
If you love a sassy, bossbabe FMC and a tattooed hot af chef, pick this book ASAP.

Thank you author for an eARC in return for an honest review :)

“There’s nothing about you I’m not obsessed with.”

At the start of the book Addie moves to Maine and is struggling with feeling behind. She & I both have a lot in common, since I also spontaneously moved across the country to live with my best friend. Needless to say, I related to her in a lot of ways and enjoyed seeing Addie find herself again as the book progressed.

Unfortunately, I did not find love by the end of the book… BUT I did gain a new book boyfriend 😍 which is the best kind!!!!

“This man is quickly becoming my weakness.”

Sam is the absolute sweetest underneath his broody demeanor! I might be obsessed with him *swoons*. Not only is he tatted. With curly dark brown hair. (Could he be any more perfect?!) He is also misunderstood, which is a trope that always gets me. Oh, and did I mention he rides a motorcycle? 🤭

On top of all that, he is a freaking chef who makes her food on multiple occasions like yes, please!?! All I could think about was Carmy & Claire from The Bear and I got all of the feels.

Addie & Sam, who is also her bestie’s fiance’s brother, immediately clash, but there’s also some underlying tension between them. He’s the black sheep of his family, so she’s supposed to ‘stay away from him’ because he’s kind of a d*ck. At first that’s easy enough. She needs to focus on starting a new job and trying to figure out her life, but over time she starts to wonder if he’s exactly what she needs…

“Everything about her just feels like she was always meant to be mine.”

One of my favorite micro tropes (aka a super niche trope) is when they go from name calling and bickering to using the same nicknames in the bedroom 👀 Exhibit A: “Uh-uh. Eyes on me, Shortcake. I want to see them roll when you c*me for me the first time.” 🥵 Umm sir!!!!!

This book not only had me blushing and smiling but also laughing out loud!!! Addie is a spitfire and says some of the craziest things, but in the best way. There were equally a lot of sweet, emotional moments too!! I only wish that Cal had been included in more of Addie & Isla’s wine nights haha. But I loved that there were so many cute friendship moments. Elle killed it!
