CATCH THE ELF! When new, lethally powerful and completely untrained young mutants show up on Rogue's doorstep with no knowledge of how they got there, a grieving Rogue seeks to take Xavier's place in guiding them to the light… …while darkness from the past returns to destroy the X-Men, one at a time!

Nice getting some backstories for the newest mutant kids. I generally like them all okay. (Although, not loving Horse Girl's brief reference to "the help.")
The villains are a little underwhelming. Actually, that might be my problem with most X-titles right now. The villains are not that compelling.
We keep getting little snapshots that some lady is taking over the X-Men's old mansion, and she's ripping apart everything we ever used to love. She's shitting on our history and memories, and she's trying to design the ultimate mutant prison. Even though, so far as we know, the only inmates we're sure are there are Theresa Rourke, and maybe Prof. X. Still, we're also led to believe she is working with "Sarah," whom apparently is someone Xavier knew from decades ago, and now is a gaunt, monstrous hag. This issue suggests that Sarah is some sort of magical being, like maybe a dark elf from some Asgardian realm, maybe.
I like watching the new mutants train and reveal more about themselves. I like the idea of defeating the villains. I'm not loving the slow reveal that Xavier somehow knew this monster. No one is invested in the idea that, "Oh my God! Xavier kept secrets from us! I am so shocked right now!"
Interesting backstories from the new characters, and getting to know what makes them tick really builds upon what we have seen through them. Seeing the answers to how they act or responds to things. I loved seeing Nightcrawler and the training montage was full of action showcasing everyone’s powers more than the first issue. I thought it was a little too short though. However, the highlight of this issue is seeing more of the secondary antagonist, Sarah. What’s her deal? How did she end it like that? Why is she after the kids?
Nightcrawler is on the cover and presiding over a makeshift danger room session on a farm in Louisiana. Of course, the exercise is to grab the belt from Kurt's hands, just as Kakashi did for his Team 7 in Naruto.
Distracted by Nightcrawler charisma and the backstories of our newcomers, I almost forgot the prophecy from issue one about the "Endling" who is the last mutant or whatever. Anyway, my bet is on the white girl with the horse. I really hope it isn't the horse though.
"Manga kid" "The help" looks like the X-Men got a racism issue to solve and I think only one of those micro aggressions was intentional on the writer's part.
