3.5 - Along came a snowstorm... and a Christmas that changed everything. Stars.

What a heartwarming, heart breaking, and heart rebuilding book. Forever Christmas isn’t a new story, but it is the kind of story I want to be reading around this time of the year.

Robert and Beth Farmers marriage is going through a little bit of a rough patch, Beth is your typical hometown girl, family and togetherness is what is important to her. Robert used to have the same wants and beliefs, but since their move to the bright lights of New York from River Falls, what was important has taken a backseat to his aspirations of being bigger and better in his work, the square footage of his home, and the balance of his bank account.

One night, one mistake, one reckless act and everything in Robert’s life changes, this story is about the three days he is given back to make things right, and ensure the Beth gets the perfect gift, the perfect Christmas, the perfect goodbye.

”The angels are waiting for you…”

Well written, beautifully developed, and definitely worth a few hours of your time of this Christmas period.

I do love a good Christmas book this time of year. This was a wonderful book to start my season of festive reads with.

I was very much attracted to the front cover. It had me wondering what the significance of the ice skates would be and it looks pretty and festive with the delicate snowflakes around the edge.

This novel tells the story of a married couple that have known each other since they were only a few years old. In a way this story is very real, in that it covers aspects many of us have encountered, of a less than perfect marriage, the pressures of work, ambition, and differences in priorities. On the other hand, this is also a magical tale involving angels and a heartbreaking twist of fate.

Both main characters are easy to relate to. I admired Beth’s compassion for others, and wanted to shake sense into Andrew on more than one occasion.

I loved their time in River Falls, meeting old friends and taking a trip down memory lane.

This story turned out to be quite an emotional roller coaster. The inevitable haunted me throughout most of the story, but every now and then I was able to enjoy the moment, be it old memories or a little romance. The closer I got to the end of the story, the more emotional and panicky I could feel myself becoming. Once I reached the last few pages of the story, I was crying so much my eyes were too blurry to read the words on the page.

This is definitely a book I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a festive yet emotional read.

Below are some of my favourite quotes:

“If you’re an angel, then you should be able to shake your magic wand or sprinkle your mystical powder – or whatever it is you do.”

“I saw angels,” the girl said. “They talked to me. They said they were waiting.”
“Waiting for what sweetie?”
“For you,” she said. “The angels are waiting …for you.”

“Only those who forgive earn the right to be forgiven.”

“There are three stages of a man’s life. He believes in Santa Claus; he doesn’t believe in Santa Claus; he is Santa Claus.”

I would like to thank the publisher, Thomas Nelson for allowing me a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Oh. My. Goodness. How do I even review this? It was so amazing, magical, and Christmasy!

A long time ago, I had seen this book and I somehow knew I would absolutely love it - even though none of my friends on here had read or reviewed it. And I did love it, more than I thought I would! And I'd re-read it if I didn't I have other books to read!

Andrew and Beth are struggling with their marriage, but something miraculous (really!) happens. It's such a beautiful story-line, and I love how Mr. Miller added angels! It reminded me of the Signed, Sealed, Delivered Christmas which you should watch if you haven't!

I'm so happy Andrew gets another chance at showing Beth his love for her … and I'm happy he realizes it's so much more important than his work.
I absolutely love Beth! She's so sweet.

Content:
A couple is struggling with their marriage. One scene shows another lady interested in the guy. Several kisses and hugs from the married couple.

I'd give this a try, people. You really should! If you like Christmas, miracles, and love, you'll really like this book! I sure did!

I love Christmas stories and have read a lot of them over the years. Any time I get the chance to review one, I take advantage of the opportunity, even if it is an author I am not familiar with, as was the case with this one. It would seem this is the author's second book, and if he continues to write books like these, he will go far.

This book is set during Christmas, as one would assume by the title and description. It combines the themes of second chances, forgiveness, and sacrifice in such a way that it makes an unforgettable and moving novel. It is difficult to give this book the review it deserves without giving spoilers away, but I'll try.

I really liked the main character. He is a bit arrogant and self-centered at the beginning of the book, but he really comes through by the end of the book. The plot was excellent. I thought I knew where it was going, but the author pulled a couple of twists that I didn't see coming. The setting was great. It made me want to visit this the hometown of the couple in the book during the Christmas season, as it sounded so magical.

The book aroused many emotions in me: the wonder of Christmas, the awe of a God who does indeed give second - and many more - chances, and other emotions I won't bother to list. When I ended the book, I found myself wiping tears from my eyes and thinking "wow, what an awesome book." Mr. Miller has done himself proud with this one, and is a book I will highly recommend.

Every year I read a short Christmas read like this book. There is nothing wrong with simple Christmas stories, they usually have a good point. This book surprised me because I really didn't know what would happen in the end. I liked the characters and how realistic their marriage was portrayed in the book. Andrew had been a pretty ungrateful husband to Beth and for Christmas she wanted things to be special, until another woman answered her husband's phone.

At a startling turn of events Andrew had the opportunity to change. Yes, this is a bit like a Christmas Carol/Scrooge, but so much better! You don't know the ending and there is a lot more depth to the story.

In just a few short pages Robert Tate Miller made me think, feel extremely sad, and overly happy. I usually don't expect that from a book like this.

Highly recommend for the holiday season!!

This has to be the most heartwarming Christmas story I have ever read. It is like a story that is passed down from generation to generation. The story of how two people who loved each other fell in love all over again, how one Christmas only one thing was wanted and it was given.

4.25 stars - Read via Kindle e-book in Dec. 2023.

Another winner! This is my second book by this author. He certainly had a gift for calling out your emotions and making you invested. I was sad to learn that he’s no longer with us.

I have to admit that I was really upset with Andrew for a good chunk of the book. I felt my husband needed to teach him how to be a good man and decent husband.

My main criticism would be the over use of the word, “said.” There was one point where I heard it so much in a small section. An editor should have caught that.

This novel certainly makes you think and it touches your heart. Appreciate your loved ones.

If You Had a Chance To Do It All Again...

Beth and Andrew Farmer, childhood sweethearts from a small town, have been married a number of years. Beth is a golden girl with a big heart, who is beloved by everyone she meets. Shortly after their marriage, Andrew drags Beth away from her beloved hometown to New York City. He wanted to pursue his dreams, and has hit it big. However his achievement has come at the expense of Beth, and much of what she loves, without Andrew even noticing.

Then on Christmas Eve, Andrew is back late from yet another business trip. Beth has reached the limit from her husband, and in frustration, runs out into the snow and traffic. Andrew decides to give chase, and is stunned to witness, at 11:58 p.m., a taxi hit Beth--and subsequently, she passes away.

A shell-shocked Andrew encounters an angel who offers him the chance to relive the past three days. There is one catch, at the end of the three days, exactly at 11:58 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Beth will once again be fatally hit by a taxi. He is told that her fate cannot be changed.

The story that follows is one of Andrew's attempt to make the three days perfect for Beth. All the while, Andrew is heart-broken, knowing what awaits them the last two minutes of Christmas Eve. Andrew also spends the time pleading with God, and the many angels that cross his path, for more time with Beth--in fact, for her life to be spared. He is told countless times that Beth's future has already been set. One tiny seed of hope is given to Andrew. He must give Beth the Christmas gift she really wants, the one she will love, but he has no idea what that is.

Andrew sets out on an odyssey that opens his eyes to some shocking surprises, as well as, a journey of self-discovery. Re-doing the last three days is supposed to be about giving Beth the best days of her life. While trying to do that, Andrew finds he must face painful emotions he has pushed down since childhood, and the unhappy revelation that he may need to forgive the person who has hurt him the most.

This story draws the reader in right away, and the characters are engaging. It is easy to feel the gamut of emotions on both Beth's and Andrew's part. Before the tale ends, you will be griping the book with white knuckles wondering if Beth will truly have to meet death late on Christmas Eve. Or will there be some way to change her destiny? Will Andrew figure out the "perfect" gift for Beth in three short days? If he does find it, will it be enough to change history, and save Beth?

This story is really enchanting, and once I started reading it, I did not want to put it down. I love tales set at Christmas time, and this one does that perfectly. That is not to say this is just a book to read during the Christmas season. This story could be read, and enjoyed, during any time of the year. I highly recommend this 5-star book. Despite the apparent tragic ending, you will close this volume with a smile.

Although a different story and plot, this book reminded me a lot of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Andrew, a rising agent in the literary world, has realized he is about to lose his wife and marriage, and does everything possible to keep this from happening. His wife, Beth, has struggled through the lean and difficult times alongside Andrew, but has finally begun to wonder if it is all worth the effort when Andrew seems so preoccupied with his career. On a whim and totally unlike him, Andrew and his wife take off for a weekend back in their old home town, a small place in Pennsylvania—the one they left for Andrew’s career advancement. Once in the town, Andrew’s eyes are opened about just who his wife really is, what makes and keeps her going, and some of what he should be doing in their marriage. However, it isn’t until the very end of the book that Andrew finally realizes and embraces his marriage to Beth and how he needs to be an integral part of it. I loved this book. Though it is only September and the temperatures here in Florida hover around ninety degrees, once I began, I was immediately swept up into a cold, wintery December in the North, with the holidays approaching. I laughed. I cried. I could not put the book down until I finally learned what was going to happen to this couple in the last pages. It was a real page turner for me, and one I will not soon forget. I think this can easily become a holiday classic, and I can see a movie being made of the story—a movie that will endear viewers like so many others holiday classics do. The characters in the story were realistically and well developed. The story progressed along nicely. I took a lot away from this story, and, as I said, I will not forget it soon. I think everyone who enjoys a great, feel-good story to put him or her in a holiday mood will find this one well worth the time and effort. If I could give it more than five stars, I definitely would. I was lucky to get an advanced copy through NetGalley.

Forever Christmas
By Robert Tate Miller

A Story of Hope, Love, and Christmas Miracles

Sometimes we don't fully appreciate what we have until we've lost it and this Christmas Andrew Farmer is about to find this out firsthand.

Beth was Andrew's childhood best friend and his sweetheart. They seemingly had the perfect marriage, but somewhere during the years Andrew's focus shifted and his career slowly started pushing Beth out.

When Andrew is given a second chance to prove his love to Beth can he accept this gift? Or will he blow his last chance with Beth? He has mere days to change his life and his focus or he will lose the love of his life.

But to change Andrew must deal with the past and the mistakes he's made along the way. But can a man change his ways overnight? Or will the pattern of success he set for himself be too strong to resist?

Forever Christmas is a story of second chances and true love. How can one prove one's love for another? Love is more than words and it is more than gifts. It is ultimately one's actions. The statement actions speak louder than words is true both in life and in this book. How can a marriage that has seemingly lost importance to one or the other of the members be proven otherwise? This is the task that Andrew has been given and he has 3 days to prove his wife he truly loves her. How many times do we wish we could go back and do something over again? We don't get do-overs, but there is no reason we can't change and go forward by putting others first.

This is a lovely book that would make a perfect gift for anyone married or not. We need to see each day spent with a loved one as a gift and one we may never have again. Make each moment count and see what is truly important.

A HUGE thanks to Net galley for gifting me with a free ecopy of this book. This in no way reflects the rating I gave this book.

First off let me say, anyone that knows me knows I am a huge Christmas geek. I love the holiday and everything associated with it. I try to watch as many Christmas movies as I can when the holiday rolls around. When I saw this book on Net galley and read the synopsis I geeked out a bit. It is the exact same story as one of my favorite Christmas movies that I watch every year called Three Days, staring Kristin Davis and Reed Diamond. So, needless to say since I loved the movie so much I knew I had to read the book.

The story is about a guy named Andrew who has been married to his childhood sweetheart for several years. Now, Andrew's a high-powered literary agent who let's his job consume him. His relationship with his wife Beth has suffered because of it. When Beth is killed on Christmas Eve, an angel gives Andrew a chance to relive the last three days of his wife's life. However, with that comes an agreement. Andrew can not change her fate but will he still figure out what gift Beth needs most?

I love this story so much. It is such a sweet, fast-paced story that leaves you wanting more. You can't help but feel for the characters and what they are going through personally. This story shows you to appreciate what you've got. You never know when yours or your loved one's last day will be. Will you let the misery and tragedy of your past consume you, or will you learn to cherish what you have and live your life to the fullest, appreciating everyday as if it was your last? This story defiantly resonates with me and also left me with joy and hope that everything will work out the way it's suppose to.

Forever Christmas: Robert Tate Miller
If you had one chance to redo a moment in your life, would you do it? Better yet, could you do it?
In an instant, everything Andrew Farmer knew was forever changed. Totally immersed in his career, he’s fallen into a materialistic trap. Beth, his wife, has always been the grounded one with her heart in the right place. When tragedy strikes on Christmas Eve, Andy is desperate to get back all he’s lost.
At his most frantic moment, he has an encounter with ‘man’ named Lionel. Seeming to know everything about Andy, he makes an offer no one could refuse. Andrew will get 3 days, a mere 72 hours, to make things right. Christmas Eve is the deadline & Andy finds himself transported back in time for a do over. Knowing now what he didn’t know then, can he reconstruct his whole thought process, his very life, to make things whole again?
‘Forever Christmas’ follows the theme of many novels before it. Christmastime has often been the backdrop for folks getting a second chance. Thankfully, this isn’t simply another take on Dickens’ classic. It really is a creative spin. Every reader will easily relate to Andy & the turmoil he faces. Who hasn’t taken aspects of their life for granted?
Both Andy & his wife are great main characters. It is an easy, enjoyable read, perfect for this season. I give it 5 stars.

Andrew Farmer is a mover and shaker in the literary world. He is constantly going out of town to meet prospective clients and to make a name for himself. He can’t see that he is much like the father he hates because he was never there for him or his mother and he is never there for his wife, Beth. On Christmas Eve and out-control taxi driver changes Andrew’s life forever by taking Beth’s life. Lionel, an angel gives Andrew three days to try and mend the wrongs between him and Beth, but only one gift will save Beth’s life. Can Andrew figure out in 72 hours what the one thing is that will save Beth’s life or will he lose her forever.

This book has it all from happiness to profound sadness. I couldn’t put the book down. I was hooked from the first page. Mr. Miller did a fantastic job in portraying how easy it is for life to get in the way, causing those we love, to feel they are unimportant or taken for granted. In reading this book it gives you hope that true love does exist and can be rekindled. If you are looking for a great inspirational book, with a message of hope you won’t want to miss this book.

Funny story: When I read the synopsis for this book, it immediately made me think of a movie I saw years ago.

In fact… from the synopsis, the book sounds exactly like the movie – so of course, I was intrigued. I just had to read it!

As far as I can tell, Robert Tate Miller is the man who actually wrote the movie script, so I’m guessing he decided he wanted to offer this wonderful story to the reading world as well.

It’s more than a little odd… reading a book that came from a movie – very different from reading a book that later becomes a movie.

The expectation are very different because you already have a picture in your head of what is happening.

So… for anyone who saw the movie who reads the book, they’ll be able to visualize very well while reading.

Two somewhat unique observations…

1) From all of the other reviews I read through, it appears that I am the only reviewer who has actually seen the movie.

2) I have to wonder if Robert Tate Miller is no longer interested in writing for Hollywood since his stories are full of miracles and heartwarming Christmas and that seems to be the last thing Hollywood is interested in at the moment… even on his website, it sounds as if Robert is doing everything he can to forget her ever wrote for Hollywood.

This holiday book kept me turning the pages and kept me wondering just how the story would end. Its part A Christmas Carol and part It's A Wonderful Life.

Andrew Farmer is career driven at all costs and sadly the cost is turning out to be the emptiness of his marriage to his high school sweetheart Beth. Andy also carries around the bitterness of never forgiving a father who walked out on his family for his career and another woman.

Beth went with Andrew to New York for his climb up the corporate ladder to literary agent. Beth owns a tutoring center for special needs kids and she is always willing to put others first and help them. She always sees the best in people and in life. She cherishes and relishes the Christmas holiday as well.

Lionel, a special angel visits Andrew and tells him that Beth will die in 3 days and he has a chance to give Beth the most wonderful Christmas ever.

The couple returns to River Falls where they grew up. They enjoy a wonderful holiday week end and Andrew tries to deal with his estranged father too.

In the end Andrew learns what is most important - putting others before yourself, forgiveness and cherishing each and every day and making the most of them no matter what. A beautiful holiday story that speaks to your heart and soul.

I was gifted a copy of “Forever Christmas” via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That in no way changes my opinion of this book.

I love Christmas books, especially now that the weather is getting cold and soon we will see snow. So when I was offered an opportunity to read “Forever Christmas”, I jumped on the chance. I was not disappointed and neither will you be.

Andrew is a literary agent, and he devotes much of his time to his career; too much if you ask his wife, Beth. They were best friends turned sweet hearts much of their lives, and had the same goals and aspirations in life. Then Andrew’s career took first place and Beth was left on the sidelines, almost like a stranger in her husband’s world. When a tragedy strikes Christmas Eve, Andrew would give anything to turn back time and make things right. When he is given the past 3 days to do over, he wants to give it all he has, and not lose Beth. Unfortunately, her fate is sealed, and he is determined to fight fate.

Can Andrew make things right again? Is he prepared to give her the best gift imaginable, the ultimate sacrifice?

“Forever Christmas” will captivate you from the beginning and you won’t want to stop reading until the very end.

Andrew Farmer has been living his life with one thing in mind – prosperity. He seems to have forgotten, however, the woman he’s promised to cherish all of the days of his life, Beth.
Andrew and Beth have been together since they were children. They always shared their dreams and talked about their future. But mere months after the wedding Andrew changes things up. He doesn’t realize that following this new path he’s found means trampling on Beth’s dreams, especially since he doesn’t even ask.

He doesn’t realize what he’s done until it’s too late and he’s begging for a second chance…

Hott Review:

What I liked: Oh, WOW. “Forever Christmas” is like an amazing mash-up between It’s a Wonderful Life and Scrooge. (It’s the best I could do – I’m not a movie watcher!)

It’s so sad. So heart-wrenching. So real.

What I didn’t like: This was a very emotional book, which I don’t love, but it was worth every moment!

Great book! Loved the story , it fills the heart with warmth and the Holiday sprit. Great read for the whole family, I read this every night to my two sons before bed. They loved it also and it sparked many conversations with them about love, life, and gratitude. Robert Tate Miller is fast becoming the Grand Master of the Christmas story novels! I hope they make this into a movie like his other book 'Secret Santa' which is a must watch every holiday season with the family! I highly recommend the book and movie. My family and I can't Wait until Robert Tate Miller's next Christmas masterpiece.

This is a sweet, simple relatable, Holiday story. It makes for great cold weather reading. i was hooked quickly by the lovely and straightforward style of writing. It is a great book to stuff a stocking or to read on a cold snowy day with a cup of coffee. It was a pleasant read for me. Anyone who likes reading romances, watching Hallmark will like this book. The style of writing is indicative of the author's previous writings and has the same feel as Chicken Soup for the Soul books.
I would love to give or receive it as a gift. I highly recommend it. I also plan on checking out the author's other works.

Can you believe we are already starting to see Christmas books pop up? It gets me super geeked for Christmas! I know some people aren't ready, but for those who are, well this book is one of those books that is a page turner after chapter four and is not shy of a miracle. Trust me when I say, Andrew is given a second miracle and he needed it. This book is a great reminder to all of us. We each take life for granted and do the daily grind, but this book helps stop you in your tracks and remind you what's most important in your life. If you're looking for a little Christmas miracle and need a pick me up, with a taste of some sense knocked into ya, pick up this book, you won't regret it!

This is a quick read that will definitely get you in the holiday spirit. For me, the Christmas miracle plot does not get old. It can be retold a thousand different ways and Miller does an excellent job of delivering a story about a man finding out the true meaning of life. Andrew and Beth have been together forever and he's started to become overly focused on his career and has started taking her for granted. An accident changes his priorities and he gets another chance to make it right. Sweet story.

What a great read! This short Christmas novel will remind you to hold on to the ones you love and to always make sure they know how you feel about them.

When I started this book I thought it had a pretty predictable ending. I was so wrong. Several twists and turns later and this story was nothing like I expected. The ending had me anxious, but it finished so perfectly.

A poignant and heartwarming read. I loved the plot of a man who has been given a second chance to show his wife how much he truly loves her. The suspense on seeing how it would all turn out in the end kept me turning pages. It was a quick read with a beautiful story of forgiveness and renewed love. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed reading this story. It reminded me a little of the "It's a Wonderful Life" movie; of a chance to get a "do-over" in life and refocus on what really matters; of a Hallmark move; and somewhat of Richard Paul Evans books that I also like. This is a thoughtful / inspiring good story that I would recommend.

A wonderful read so full of the spirit of Christmas, true love and sacrifice. Written by the same author who penned the teleplay, "Three Days" with Kristin Davis released in 2001 on the ORIGINAL FOX Family channel, the book mirrors the movie almost word for word with some subtle differences. I love the movie and now love the book. A quick and magical read for the holidays!
