James's great adventure begins with a simple thing — a rustic cabin in the countryside. Charmed by the prospect, he decides to leave his stressful city life behind and move into the woods.
But country living isn't boring. There's a quaint town nearby with kind folks who still help each other out. Maybe the bubbly blonde storekeeper has a job or two for James?
And let's not forget the magical legacy waiting for James, tracing back through the history of his family. With magic come mystical companions, such as the mischievous cat girl living in James's basement, the fox girl preying on his chickens, and the shifter that has all of the forest's inhabitants on edge...
As the country mage, James will have his hands full...
This box set contains the complete Country Mage series, consisting of books 1-10.
With so many women in his life, it's a wonder he hasn't lost his mind entirely. But fear not, dear reader, for the series is so delightfully written that you'll be too entertained to even notice. It's a veritable feast for the senses, leaving you wishing it would never end. Alas, all good things must come to a close, but at least you can take solace in the fact that you've had a thoroughly enjoyable ride.
I am very glad this series is over. I got very tired of all the inconsistencies and teenage boy viagra induced fantasy. The fantasy’s weren’t even that good just rinse and repeat. Put in different names here and different locations and then babble on for 8 or 9 pages. How he can build a 2 story addition with a full basement bathroom and kitchen in a few days by himself. But it takes weeks with help to build a chicken koop.
I did not enjoy this audiobook, I only got through so quickly because I increased the playback first to x1.5, then x1.75, and then x2.0 from 'book 3' onward - along with skimming/skipping chapters. The story is basic, there is no real danger or conflict for the protagonist to overcome, and the "fan service" parts come off as juvenile in their writing (I skipped over those chapters as soon as they would start).
