Needs the actual book to be utilized properly. Devoid of context, the devotional is at best narrow and missing resources

The Uncommon Marriage Adventure: A Journey to Draw You Closer to God and Each Other
by
Tony and Lauren Dungy

The book gets right to the point in helping couples along their path in marriage, partnership, and unity not only with their-selves but recognizing that God is to be the center of the path and that God should always be first in your marriage. The book or as Tony and Lauren call it a devotional, is written with eight (8) core principles that help to guide a person through the book over a sixteen (16) week period. Each core principle will deal with a different aspect for a two (2) week time period and challenge you each day through what is called an Adventure Application. The Adventure Application's are laid out in the first six days of each week and on the seventh (7th) day you are asked to go back and take a look at one of the Adventure Applications in more detail. Each day also gives you a different core practice in which will help to guide you through the day and a remembrance on something that can help you get stronger in your walk as a married couple. Then on the seventh (7th) day it does summarize each core practice again, along with three topics called Uncommon Wisdom, Uncommon Practice, and Uncommon Prayer to help you utilizes each topic from the week. This book is another masterpiece by both Tony and Lauren and it can be a guiding light for those couples who are strong in the Lord but more importantly those couples who need to really look at themselves and find God first in their marriages and put God at the center and let him run the marriage. Remember that in a marriage you are in it for better of for worse. Why not let God work for you and take a chance in reading a great book?

The Uncommon Marriage Adventure by Tony & Lauren Dungy with Nathan Whitaker Tyndale
Marriage / Devotional
ISBN 9781414383729
I give The Uncommon Marriage Adventure 5 stars. It is well written with life stories from the authors Tony & Lauren Dungy. It is a great tool to help with life, marriage and family life. Each devotion starts with a core principle and a scripture. Their are 96 core principles. The book is divided into 8 key groups that have worked well for them, their life and marriage. They touch on how the Bible and Christ are living examples on how to live, teamwork, committed love, communication, support and not running from conflict. At the end of each devotion they showed you how to apply the lesson to your life. I really enjoyed this part. On page 8 was a example of how to pray for your wife with scripture from John 3:16. I change it to pray for my hubby and found this to be so humbling. All the examples and prayer ideas are easy to add to your situation, I found them to be easy to use and beneficial. Through out the book there were references to the authors coaching and football career which I am clueless about, but I found they added a humble and honest aspect to their life experiences. They made the book seem more real.
I want to thank the author Tony & Lauren Dungy and Nathan Whitaker, the publisher Tyndale for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review. I am so grateful for their generosity.

This is an awesome devotional from an amazing Christian couple. This devotional goes back & forth with Tony providing the devotion some days & Lauren providing them on the other. It is always great to receive examples from successful couples on how they have made their marriage work over the years & on how being in the Word & prayer helped in the process. I have every Tony Dungy book so far & I look forward to additional books from both Tony & Lauren in the coming years.

The Uncommon Marriage Adventure by Tony and Lauren Dungy is a series of daily devotionals that include short vignettes, Scripture, and some conversational ideas. Tony is the famous former pro football player and coach. Together with his wife Lauren, Tony developed eight core principles of marriage. Out of these core principles came behaviors that have enriched and secured their long-lasting marriage.

As a psychologist who has counseled numerous couples, I see that one of the first things to go in a busy marriage is meaningful communication. Sure, we talk about the kids’ schedules, taking out the trash, and paying the mortgage. But we quit talking about meaningful things; our spiritual life, our beliefs, our goals for our marriage. This book is an excellent springboard for conversations. A great book for newlyweds.

I am always in the market for a good marriage book so I was delighted to read this book by a previously unknown couple and I was delightfully surprised. It was insightful and easy to read, drawn from over 30 years of marriage and how to handle things that will come up in marriage. I enjoyed their frank honesty and came away from reading the book with some new insights, very encouraged to make my marriage uncommonly good.

I love Tony Dungy. I appreciate his accomplishments as a football coach, but even more I appreciate his character and the way he goes about his job. I really enjoyed Quiet Strength, so I wanted to check out his book on marriage. His devotion to God and emphasis upon Scriptures are shared by his wife. The book contains some helpful advice on marriage, and it was helpful to see these principles put into practice by this couple.

As a devotional it was ok. Not great. And if ones spouse doesn't enjoy sports it will not be good for you. However, if both parties like football and have unlimited money, it could be ok. I felt Tony & Lauren were not on my wavelength because of our day-to day struggles that this couple just doesn't have to worry about.
