Clumsy Tokumaru Madoka can't seem to go a minute without breaking something. And when he ends up breaking his sister mirror, it's the last straw! As payback, Tokumaru's sis forces him to help out the Tea Ceremony Club despite the hesitations of the club president, the graceful Hasune Kazume. Composed and cool, he is the exact opposite of the brash Tokumaru. Will the two be able to bridge their differences and get along with each other? Or will a potentially hot romance become cool like iced tea?

CW: Dubious Consent

This was such a good read! I had tried to read it years ago and couldn't get into it. For some reason it really clicked with me now. Sakuragi is one of my favorite mangaka. I really like how this manga explores sexuality between men. It also has after care, which is surprising for a BL from 2003. In comparison to a lot of the older BL, this one is fantastic and still holds up today. I highly recommend it.

I like the concept, but it was poorly executed. The art is really ugly, especially the faces, and the anatomy is terrible. The dialog wasn't very interesting, although there were a couple of funny exchanges.

This was actually much better than I originally expected. I really loved the extra at the end, with our main characters sisters and guys I'm shipping them so hard, they better become a couple.

This story followed Tokumaru, who is forced by his younger sister, to join a tea club. The tea club is hosted at his high school and run by Hasune. And so our story begins. I really liked the romance but I do think it happened out of nowhere. We didn't have much of a build up. Im curious to see how their relationship evolves in the volumes to follow. I also have no interest in the side story, which thankfully was only a chapter.

Overall a good manga with great graphics.

**grammar**

I liked them, the main couple is funny and sweet and i would have liked to read more about them. I read in some questions down here, that some ppl presumed that Hasune and Kaga really had sex together, when Hasune was younger , but let me post here again my reasoning.

I am actually pretty sure they never had sex. When Hasune and Keigo talk, Keigo asks him what position he was and Hasune tells him "what?" like he doesnt understand what he means, and after he asks Keigo if he is jealous and when later we see Keigo trying to top, he says to him "do you really wanna do this?", and Keigo tells him that he thinks this is what he wanted, bcs he was like this with Kaga, and Hasune tells him "there is a misunderstanding" and so Keigo tells him "than u topped Kaga?", and Hasune says "not about that". I think the misunderstanding is in the fact that they never had sex. If u think about some chapters before that, one time Hasune said to Keigo if his chastity was in danger.... if he had had sex with another he shouldnt have a chastity to guard no?

Let me add also that when Kaga and Hasune talk, Hasune tells him that all he did annoyed him and irritated him (in the past), and that he has never experienced this kind of relationship, like the one he has with Keigo.

In the last chapter we see also how Keigo asks their mutual friend how Kaga and Hasune parted ways, and the man answers that Kaga likes boys, so when Hasune grew he was dumped asap.
I actually dont think that Kaga and Hasune had a sexual relationship, maybe they kissed, but am pretty sure that's it.

3.5 stars, but I think not quite 4. I liked it; I didn't love it nearly as much as I was hoping after the thoroughly wonderful Hide and Seek, Vol. 1.

What's interesting is that I did really, really like the side story at the end, with Keigo and Mizuki. In its very condensed format, it somehow managed to pack in all the intense emotions that I was kind of missing from the main couple. Maybe Sakuragi is just better at writing adults? Hide & Seek is technically a spinoff sequel to another popular series, but I skimmed the summaries for that one and wasn't terribly interested - and I think now that I was right to skip it. I like the emotional maturity and seeing characters navigating real-world worries and complications.

The funny thing is that I didn't even like Keigo very much in the main body of the story, when he was just showing up to hassle Hasune (whose close connection with him is still unexplained). But just that little bit of a glimpse into his personal life made me change my mind completely.

That's not to say that I didn't enjoy Tokumaru and Hasune's story - it's fun and sweet in parts, and there were some nice emotional pangs when Tokumaru got mad at Hasune and walked home with a girl instead. Hasune fighting a couple of bullies just so he could try to win Tokumaru back? A terrible idea I hope they don't repeat, but it was a good scene and brought out more of Hasune's depths.

I am curious if the other volumes will show more of his complicated relationship with his family; definitely looking forward to reading the others, even if this one wasn't as much of an utter favorite as I was hoping.

The extra side story with Hasune's sister was pretty funny, too. I love how their faces don't match their personalities at all. Sakuragi's art doesn't necessarily qualify as "pretty," but I love how expressive it is, and I personally find it really enjoyable to look at.

Koicha No Osahou or Tea For Two by author Yaya Sakuragi doesn't have those flawlessly drawn characters that I've become accustomed to with other yaoi manga artists like Youka Nitta and Kazuma Kodaka. The front covers are great, but inside the black and white drawings lack. The art appears proportionally rough-around-the-edges. However, as the series continued, I found the art blossomed, as did the story. Yaya Sakuragi created a pair of loveable characters and, with the addition of a straightforward though predictable plot, Tea For Two was fun to read.

Tokumaru Madoka is a natural born stumblebum and when he breaks his sister's mirror he's forced, as payback, to help out in the Tea Ceremony Club. The club president Hasune Kazume is hesitant to accept Tokumaru's assistance, but eventually gives in. Hasune is the epitome of composure and the complete opposite of the impetuous Tokumaru. In time the pair seem to bridge the gap between their differences and clash of personalities, and Tokumaru finds that he holds more than a flame for the club president.

The sex wasn't overly steamy though it proved hot enough to get the message across, the characters were attractive, and plot development was mediocre. Overall, TFT was amusing, so I give it 4 stars!

I LOVE this series. I realized how much when I re-read this today and I just fell in love with the characters all over again.

(My most favorite part are probably the extras about Tokumaru and Hasune's sisters - I really wish there was an extra book about them.)

I just love Hasune's and Tokumaru's relationship - they're very different people, which can lead to misunderstandings and disappointments, but somehow they still manage to find a way past that in the end. I also like how they're both struggling to find their path in life in their own way. Hasune especially seems almost a bit too grown up - to be honest, he's probably one of the most mature characters in any manga I've read, and he's only seventeen - but it's refreshing to see someone like him.

I also love the tea ceremony aspect of the story, and the dojo, and all the side characters. It's a very lovely series, and without a doubt one of my favorite BL stories.

It all starts when brash, loud and clumsy Tokumaru Madoka crosses a thin line & breaks his sister's mirror. Exasperated, she enrols him to the Tea Ceremony Club, presided over by the serene and calm Hasune Kazuma. In a clash of opposites, would they get along? Or even worse, would they fall in love?

I confess by the end of Vol 1, 'Tea for Two' was like any other opposites-attract yaoi oneshot. I'm glad I stuck to the series, because the manga is so much more than a conventional love story. After the boys start dating, the focus shifts, as the boys start considering life post high-school. Figuring out what to do with their lives, wanting to grow stronger and more self-reliant for the others' sake, and learning how to resolve differences and growing together even while persuing your own paths.

Overall, a lovely and refreshing BL series.

Let me start with the least important thing: I love that there's a side story about the sisters! (Already pegged Hasune as a hottie, and now I discover she has an inner cuteness radar).

I like the back-and-forth dynamic and chemistry between the two boys. I also like that Tokumaru looks sort of like a typical high school student or something: a slightly clueless, easily angered, mostly well-intentioned, kind of spacey, jock-ish type. I don't find that type particularly attractive, but it's nice to see him opposite Hasune nonetheless. Unexpected.

I'll definitely want to keep reading.

Minor complaint: The dude from the Sweet Life side story (Mizuki) looked too much like Hasune at points.

I loved this series! Because Tokumaru is a pretty unruly and clumsy student, his sister decides it would be a great idea if he joined the tea ceremony club. There he meets Hasune, and the two end up falling in love.

Even though it was a story about high school students, it felt pretty grown up. Sure, some of the problems the two have are high school problems, but their behavior overall felt more grown up (or maybe just saner) than some of the behavior of adults in other manga I've read. I liked the way their personalities complemented each other, and how they tried to understand each other and managed to work out their differences.

I also adored the side story about their sisters; I would have loved to read even more about that.

I picked up a lot of Boys' Love/Yaoi manga on whims...some I like and some I'm like "meh". Personally...I love a challenging romance and character development--I'm not the one who reads a BL/Yaoi manga (or book) based on the amount of sex in it (as some people do).

This is a series I loved and was very happy that TokyoPop managed to get it all translated before they went under. It also made me a big Yaya Sakuragi fan, so I've been trying to pick up any of her manga (that I can find) that has been translated in the U.S.!

If you actually like BL/Yaoi manga with fun characters, a developing romance and NOT a ton of sex...this is a good series to read.

I really enjoyed this volume. In this volume you are introduced to the characters. It starts out with the Tokumaru being told by his sister that he has to join the Tea club since he is always breaking things. He is athletic and has lots of friends. He joins the club and meets Hasune the head of the club and from prestigous family. The are the exact opposite. Tokumaru is rough and likes to fight, and Hasune is cool and keeps it together.

That is what I enjoyed about this they are such opposite that it makes to story interesting.

At some point, I want to write a proper review for this one but... today is not that day.

This series is just utterly comforting to return to again and again. I love Sakuragi's style and these characters here just make me so, so happy!!

sept 21:
still a cosy comfort read and while there's some BL tropes in here I could do without, I love tokumaru and hasune so very much.

This is one of my favorite BL series. The romance happens with a minimum of angst, and the focus is more on their lives beyond their relationship, figuring out what they want to do and who they want to be, and finding support and inspiration from each other.

This was pretty refreshing. I thought it was great that we finally get two guys who can both hold their own and don't need the other to constantly protect them. Fun read, not too heavy on the emotion but pretty cool.
