Stride and Zero are on the run from the Vampire Queen, who keeps presenting herself in various disguises. Having failed in her attempt to capture and control Stride, her own son, she resorts to other, deadlier games in trying to divide and conquer the two vampire warriors.
In Chapter four, the two vampires have survived the lure of the ghost ship’s deadly grip, only to arrive in a snow-covered town that looks like a winter wonderland—with no beginning or end to it. They come to a small, brightly lit cottage and step inside, to face potentially fatal consequences. Zero is afflicted with a horrible ailment, and Stride is forced to confront the were-lover he once cherished and couldn’t save...
Stride and Zero must rely on each other and learn to trust one another. As increasingly tense as the battle on Niburu has become, the two vampires find that their growing passion is not only their strongest, binding force, but in and of itself, the kind of Eden the planet on which they’re stranded was supposed to be.
Reader Advisory: This book is part of an ongoing serial series, best read in order as it continues.

A.J. Llewellyn lives in California, but dreams of living in Hawaii. Frequent trips to all the islands, bags of Kona coffee in the fridge and a healthy collection of Hawaiian records keep this writer refueled.
A.J’s passion for the islands led to writing a play about the last ruling monarch of Hawaii, Queen Lili’uokalani as well as a non-erotic novel about the overthrow of her kingdom written in diary form from her maid’s point of view.
A.J. never lacks inspiritation for male/male erotic romances and on the rare occasion this happens, pursues other passions such as collecting books on Hawaiiana, surfing and spending time with friends and animal companions.
A.J. Llewellyn believes that love is a song best sung out loud.
This fourth instalment of the Blood Slave series brings with it a deeper understanding of Zero and Stride’s enemy, the Vampire Queen. Her objectives and methods are truly evil and I can’t wait to see her get her own. Unfortunately, knowing there are eight more chapters to come, I’m afraid I’m going to have to wait for a bit. The tension may kill me, but at least it’ll be an entertaining way to go. One thing is sure: bored is NOT what I’ll be.
While a few more questions about Stride’s past are answered, including some about his former lover, a whole load of new questions immediately appears to replace them. The scenery and setting for this chapter is also totally different from the ones in the previous chapters, and that is beginning to crystallize as one of the strengths of this serial for me. Each chapter has a unique feel, not just because of the events and revelations that take place, but also due to the widely different backgrounds these happen in. There was the rather dead planet Earth and Nibiru in the first and second books, the pirate ship in the third, and in the fourth we face endless snow. Some locations recur, like the planet Nibiru, but the general variety adds another exciting layer to this adventure.
Zero and Stride, after almost having emotionally connected in the last book, are thrown into close proximity here. Getting along on a physical level isn’t the problem for them, they have more than enough chemistry for an army of vampires between them. The challenge here is to build trust, and that almost does them in. I continue to hold my breath as I see these two alphas struggle with themselves and their inner demons as well as each other and each one’s need to be seen as strong and independent. I can only hope they’ll figure it out at some point!
If you like emotional roller coaster rides, you will probably like this book. If you are too scared to go on a real roller coaster ride, reading this series will bring you almost the same experiences – without you ever needing to leave the house. I for my part will make sure I am at home, ready to download the next chapter as soon as it becomes available!
