23-year-old Denver James. Worry-wart. Protector. Beautiful. Loyal. Head-strong. As Priest and Denver’s worlds collide, their relationship evolves into a complex bond filled with passion, betrayal, and an unexpected tenderness. Becoming The Virgin Wife of A Kingpin is a gripping tale of love, power, and survival in the face of overwhelming odds. It's a story of two souls brought together by fate, struggling to find their place in a world where trust is scarce, and enemies are everywhere.
Teehee titles like this always get me 🤣. It was a good book I actually didn’t mind the twist but everything thing felt fast paced so I couldn’t really take any of the connection between the characters seriously.
This was a really good standalone. Priest was Bae period, the way that man cared for Denver was so beautiful. I hated her loyalty to Haze and was so happy that didn’t draw out long in the book. The twist I didn’t see coming which is always a good thing and gave this book the right amount of conflict.
I enjoyed the growth of Navy’s character as well. I thought she was going to be a messy, conniving chick but I’m happy that was not the case. Character development in my opinion across the board was really good. 4🌟
I really love this book great Shari B great author I will definitely read another book by her
I love Priest and Denver love story both of the couples went thru their ups and down. Denver went thru her life with her family and mental illness with her brother and mother. She took responsibility for her siblings Aurora and Sawyer. Priest was a self made man that was part of a rich and ruthless family called Powers. So many family secrets and finding out he has a brother Declan Powers. Denver was in love with Hazel her high school after waiting 6 years while he was prison and was still a Virgin. Hazel got and got married Selkia and broke his promise he made to Denver she was so hurt and had to let him go. Denver meets Priest and thinks he fine and rude and arrogant who knew he would be her husband and first time for her and everything. Priest treat her like a Queen and treat her with respect and love before they got together. Hazel was married to in this ruthless family and family secrets so much going at every turn. Navy was Denver best friend who went thru her own darma and pain with her her boyfriend Assani who was a cheater who got physical with her which ended his life now she pregnant. Declan was a member of this ruthless family he meets Navy and she fiesty and refuse to let him or any other man to mistreat her any kind of way. Denver and Priest got married pregnant and had twins and got all the family secrets out Sharod (aka) known as Sabrina who killed her brother Pablo. Navy and Declan are married and expecting their son and their daughter. Priest and Declan are becoming close as brother and their mother enjoying her grandbabies. Sawyer and Aurora are grown and living on their own. I would love spin-off book on the couples and their friends and family and Harper
This was a great read. Denver had everything planned out when it came to her love Hazel, until he broke his promise. Finding out what Hazel did made me feel so bad for her. Priest coming into Denver life even with her struggles and taking care of her siblings was a blessing she didn’t know she needed. Haze was regretting every decision he’s made but it cost him the one he’s loved and it is too late to fix it. Navy was crazy asf but having Declan at her side made her really sit back and chill. Seiko was very weak but she was no dummy, and having Deborah as a mom she didn’t need enemies. Sharod was diabolical and held no remorse, so he met his end after all the wrong he caused. I’m so happy that Priest and his Pretty Baby got the happiness they both deserved and the family bond were rebuilt with a true bond and love ❤️ Amazing job sis !!
Mannn, this book had me on such a roller coaster.I was mad, sad, and pissed off. I'm soo happy that Priest was patient and enouraged Denver to help her know her worth she really was missing out on life waiting around on Hazels lame self. She was a selfless sweetheart , very naieve and waay go trusting in alot of cases esp concerning Hazel he was a very selfish person wanting n expecting that girl to sit and keep waiting on him like in what world they do that at soo glad she stood up to him. It was the Audacity for me. He wanted his cake and eat it too soo happy she didnt fall for that bs. Navy was a trip happy she got out of the toxic relationship wit Asanti. Priest was def on his real grown man stuff and didnt play about her. Soo happy the lived each other through all the drama. The were really made for each other. Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was well written and I enjoyed all the characters. I didn’t care for Haze from the start of the book because he was wrong to ask Denver to ride out his bid with him. I understand that he “loved her”, but it was more about her being here than anything else. I also thought Denver was nieve because she was wiling to do the bid with him.
Then Priest entered the picture and turned things around. I was so happy that he persuade her and took his time doing so. He did it on her terms and won her heart over in the end.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the author shortened everyone’s name with dumb nicknames and it got on my nerves.
This book was absolutely a page turner! I loved the emotional trauma of siblings who loved each other through dysfunctional family and mental disorders. Denver’s first love was pure as well as humbling because Hazel loved her enough to protect her with his own life as a kid himself. Denver loved him enough to wait for him while he was in prison. Neither of them knowing that their true soulmates were coming in their adult lives. Priest was everything Denver needed to be the woman she will become. Thanks to this author for great character building and for giving us an ending that completes the story for all of our characters. One of the best books of this year for me!
Easily 5 stars. I knew it 5% in lol Well-written. A quick and fast-paced entertaining read. I just wished it was longer and didn't end so soon! It was sickeningly sweet. All the male characters were Alpha's who simps behind closed doors and I loved every second of it lol Great read. I loved the characters and how real they felt.
The plot twist caught me off guard with Rod...I didn't see that coming. And the twist of fate with Hazel and Denver was crazy. Going from ex to in-laws? 🤣 So far I like Shari Bs books👍🏾
Priest was 😍😍. He was like a walking talking fantasy and Declan was unpredictable & unhinged lol What he did with Asani was wild lol I was like 😮. I loved how realistic Navy's reaction was too lol Okay I'm done! Highly recommend!
Priest is bae all day. He didn't play with nobody when it came to his mama or his respect, not even his family. Denver put her life on hold for Haze when he got locked up for six years only for him to cut off communication and marry someone else. Once Priest laid eyes on Denver it was over for anyone else. He knew she was his one and he proved and showed her in so many ways. I like Declan also and Navy was his perfect match. What I didn't see coming tho was them family secrets. Most secrets tear families apart but these secrets actually brought Priest and Declan closer together. Great Read.💟💟
In full transparency I thought this book was gonna lose me after Haze did what he did to my girl Denver, but I stuck with it and I was pleasantly surprised how much I really liked it these characters and their story. And despite the initial meeting hiccup, I loved me some Priest, from start to finish and by the end of the story, I really liked Declan too. Haze was still a NO for me, even though he did help bring all what was done in the dark to light. I still didn't like him. In the end though all was well with this family unit and it was so cute how this author wrapped everything up with a bow.
3.75⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Priest and Denver were the main couple, and all the other characters were minor, but basically the book revolves around three friends and their significant others. Priest is top-tier book boyfriend material. Declan comes second, and then Hazel is in last place because he’s the one that has the most drama, but he came around towards the end of the book and did the right thing. The plot twists in this book. We a little bit crazy that I didn’t see coming at all, and with so many minor characters that were talked about. It was a little bit hard for me to follow who’s who. And I loved that. Everybody had a happy ending.
Denver finally found happiness with Priest His love was unmatched he gave her love slowly and blossom into forever!!!!
All everybody found happiness too
Sharod/ Sabrina was a snake and secret hiding came to light you killed your own brother for the Thrown only one to become her dismissed...
Navy I'm glad she got her mind right Declan did you favor one Asani did you wrong then putting his hands on him breaking that glass on your head and he was going to kill you Dec saved your life and loving being a Father
Even Sawyer doing great job medicine and now he has a girlfriend....
I’m loving me some Priest and how he loved himself some Denver despite her trying to push him away in the beginning and especially when she found out that he was a Powers. Denver really deserved happiness after putting her life on hold six years for Haze for him to date and marry someone else. Denver had so much weight that she was carrying on her shoulders including dealing with her siblings one being diagnosed as being bipolar. I’m glad that everything worked out with all involved parties in the end so that they could function as one big happy family.
I don’t know why Denver thought she should wait on a man to do a six year bid. Soon as the judge would have sentenced him I would have been on to the next one. The fact that she was a virgin waiting on him and the man got out of jail and ended of married to someone else was crazy. This book was so good. I couldn’t put it down. I love when a book got a little family mess to it. This book also discussed mental disorders which I love. I love when a book dive or top on mental health. This was about a family full of lies and secrets.
The secrets in the Power family were insane. Sharod was wrong. With that being one of the biggest secrets. I'm glad Priest finally found out all the secrets. Haze was wrong, he didn't deserve a happy ending. Sieko needed to stand up for herself against her so called mother. Dec I felt bad for the worst cause he really was blind to everything. Navy was just looking for someone to take care of her. She finally found the right person. Denver whole heart was gigantic she deserved all the love she got.
Chile the plot twist of the Powers family threw me for a complete loop😭
I’m not a fan of 3rd person but I pushed through because the book was very interesting. Priest was the perfect gentleman for Denver. Haze however didn’t know what he truly wanted and had a hard time staying away from the truth. He was one of my least favorite characters in this whole story. How could you ask someone to wait for when you get out but get married and don’t tell her 🤨. Let’s see, Navy was another character that was up down for me.
Priest’s and Denver’s love story was so cute. Priest was a real man. He stepped in and stepped up for Denver and her siblings. I’m glad Sharod got his Karma. Haze really messed up by losing Denver and found out in the end that status isn’t everything. Glad to see he and Seiko could make it work. I’m glad Declan stepped up for Navy. They were funny together. Good standalone Shari B.
By far my favorite book of Shari B’s. I usually don’t like books about a “virgin and kingpin” but this one really did it for me. The storyline was captivating from beginning to end, and the plot twists kept me guessing, which I loved. Nothing was predictable besides the fact of them falling in love, but the how is what really got me. I love me a good full length juicy standalone, but I really didn’t want this one to end🫶🏾
This book was good as hell from the beginning to the end. It was so many secrets that came out in this book. What the hell? But Priest stood on business that he was not playing with nobody. Denver was really a good woman, and she got exactly what she deserved a beautiful life in the end. Haze regret his choice, but in the end he ended up having a happy life too. Declan was so lost and confused, but in the end, it all makes sense.
Shari B, oh my gurl, you really gave a good read! When I say Priest was the man. I also loved how caring Denver was. It just shows the hand that we are dealt doesn't have to be played as such. When looking at the players in this read, I feel they all got their just deserve karma. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I enjoyed the book from beginning to end. The Powers clan had some well hidden secrets. I'm glad Haze had sense enough to leave Denver alone and start his own family. I love Declan and Navy relationship even though it was crazy. Priest definitely was the right one for Denver.
When a woman says she wants a man that applies pressure they talking about Priest 😩🙌🏽…. That man didn’t play with her OR about her…. I would have left Haze right where he was at as soon as he was in the back of the squad car 😂.. this book wasn’t predictable and I love that because I would not have guessed that the he was really a she 😩😭..
I wasn’t sure how this would work. My girl Denver has a whole lot on her plate. Then Priest hates everybody except his mama, a girl cousin and now Denver. But consistency and intention always win out and that is Priest Powers. The drama in this book had me rewinding like did I hear that right. Priest asking her how many carats while he was in it. He stood on it though.
Now I’m the beginning i was skeptical! But you definitely changed my mind by chapter 2! Nowhere in my stacks of I know how this is going to go did i picture anything like this!
It was about as fiction as fiction can get. Displaying mental health in this way was interesting. I think researching illnesses before you make them a main focus in your book would be best. Overall 3/5
I didn’t see that plot twist coming. It was definitely interesting. Priest was my favorite character. Everyone else appeared to be too emotional and unstable. I like the happy ending though.
This book was fire! The Powers family was a hot mess, especially Sabrina. I wasn't expecting her to be a man, and Dec is Priest's brother. Thank God everything worked out for everyone. Great Read!
This book was sooo good from cover to cover. The family dynamics, emotions, etc. The author didn’t drag out any of the storylines and answered all questions. It’s a must read!
I absolutely loved this book. Shari you never disappoint me. I love me some Priest. I hope to hear from these characters later on in the future. This is most definitely a must read.
Loved this book, every minute was great. It's A very exciting story. Every character has their part. You will not be disappointed. I wish she writes about the brother and his wife. All in all I'm a fan. Five stars.
