Rags to riches is supposed to be a nice fantasy. Going from a cheap London hovel to an elite fae institute should be amazing, especially when it involves a medieval castle.
It's just not so great when the aristocratic jerks in the Tower want to crush you.
It starts when a lethally gorgeous fae--Ruadan--hunts me down. He's known as the Wraith, and he's taken a vow of silence to snuff out illegal magic. Fae magic that I possess. The Wraith lets me live on one I have to earn my place at the Court of the Shadow Fae. I'm a survivor. I think I can manage the competition.
Too bad the posh recruits have it in for me. Worse, I'm forced to share a room with the silent Wraith, who is as sinister as he is hot. All it takes is one slip up, and I'm out. And at the Court of the Shadow Fae, failure means death.

We write fantasy romance, urban fantasy, and portal romance. Our books often include trials, banter, and enemies to lovers stories.
Note: We are actually two people--a former biologist (Nick) and a former school psychologist (Christine).
Some books are both of us, and some are just Christine!
This is a great set of books that I thoroughly enjoyed. There's a lot of Kick-Ass fighting but a cute love story between it all. Not just loving someone else but finally learning to love yourself. Good set of books to read on a weekend away. Hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.
I will always recommend any book by c n Crawford. They write amazing books for young adults. The spice isn’t full on but enough for the age group and the story lines are always thrilling! Highly recommend
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
3.25*
First time read the author's work?: No
Will you be reading more?: Yes
Would you recommend?: Yes
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
I read book 1 and was hooked. I had to get the boxed set to find out what happens to Arianna aka —- (I won’t spoil it by giving away her real name) and Ruadan.
All I can say is that these two characters are perfect for each other. They fill in where the other falters.
Fav part? Wait till u read about Andre! I love the humor infused in these books. With all the killing and mayhem, you gotta have moments of snorty giggles.
Great books. I’m very happy I stumbled upon this work.
For a free, grocery store fantasy it is good. I like the hero and her struggles. She is fairly consistent but I would've like to see her resist the main main a little longer...
This books series is part of a large world around the "apocalypse". I have read the other books in this world and do find the authors fairly consistent in the world building.
Overall it's a fun escape and I would read it again.
This was not at all what I expected! Yet at the same time exceeded all expectations!... This series is action packed with the supernatural and also builds some serious sexual tension throughout... This is by far the best series I have read up to date. I have not been able to stop reading until I had completed the series... When I was not reading, I was thinking about reading it. I live and breathe for this series!
I felt like I was just continuing from Adonis and Ruby's story. The plot connected well. I really enjoy all Of the twists and turns. You've incorporated lots of different myths into the story that gave it a life it's own! Absolutely loved it!!!!!
Wow what a fantastic rollercoaster the first 4 books in this series are, I couldn't put it down and I was fully immersed into this crazy world of fantasy, I can't wait to see where it goes next.
This is one of those series that you lose sleep over. The characters are well written. The world building is perfect and detailed. You're easily whisked away into Ruadan and Liora's story. I can't wait to read more by this duo.
I love the all the books from this author. From the first page to the last you will be sucked in a world that will captivate you to the end. I could not put this down and only took me three days to finish.
I cant even begin to say how much I love this series. CN Crawford is a wonderful author that pulls you in from the 1st chapter. Not many books can get me from chapter one but this one did. You need to read these books!!
Don’t get me wrong; I loved this entire interconnected series! I love this couple - Prince of Emain, Ruadan and daughter of the horseman of death Arianna/Liora. They finally progressed to a weary trust between them as she would not tell him what she is. The Grand Master/incubus and the shadow fae face all types of bad guys and gals forcing both of them to reveal more of their nature while they look for the torturer big bad Baleros who wants to rule the world so bad he is going to release a death plague, hurt the humans and release the dark back on Earth. Ariana/Liora who realizes she is a monster too, hasn’t been back to her home since she was 13 and forced into the arena and enslaved wants to forget her mother’s and their village folks death and find her dad. She couldn’t let her herself get emotionally connected to Ruadan whose cold shadows heal and protect her because he doesn’t know she is on the kill list. As Ciara remains loyal to her friend she too has unexpected factions against her. But kindness and affectionate is what warms Arianna’s senses and the growing passion bubbling under the surface is undeniable.
They don't all walk into a bar together, but it does start in a bar and vampires! Fae, Shadow Fae, ancient orders, portals to closed realms. This is the continuation of the Rosalind story only its really not her story but little Arianna, bar maid, bouncer - self appointed and sometimes an unwelcome monster walks in. They're not supposed to be here! One of those things, only Arianna makes them leave before the real monster police come to get them for fear they may take her too!
Gripping, moving exhilarating and some laugh out lot dialogue. One of the best series from Crawford yet. There’s something so alluring about dark powerful fae! Action packed altered reality worlds but so real, and great characters you want to read more of. I loved it!!
Didn’t think you could improve on the sea fae series but this was captivating. Not sure how I’m going to get over not having these worlds to dip into! Well done CN Crawford
Honestly amazing. The writing throughout the books and the storylines it follows are just amazing. I throughly enjoyed reading the rowdy FMA storyline. Arianna’s story was heartbreaking at times but also beautiful in others. From trying to discover herself to fully embracing her true nature👌❤️😱 Can’t wait to read the last installment!!!
