This is the 3rd book in the Whispers of Cedarbrook series. While this is technically a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading in order because it is interconnected. I did not read in order and I think it's because of that I could not enjoy this book to its fullest potential. I had some questions and confusing parts… and I think some of them would have been answered if I had read it in order.

Ethan- He was Lila’s bodyguard who then became her boyfriend. Even though he wanted to marry Lila and saw her as his second chance at love - his first love being Aria- he still took a bullet for Aria and kept his distance from Lila. He stalked her the entire time he let her believe he was dead for over a year and was having threesomes constantly with Aria and her man. But then he got notified that arranged marriages are being made for Lila and now all of a sudden Lila is his wife and he needs to go claim and take her from the new life she has created for herself.

Lila- The daughter to a really evil man- like literally - who comes to now own every single thing her dad had when he was murdered. Before he was murdered her dad gave her a choice- marry the person he and Monroe chose for her willingly or Ethan would be killed and she would still have to marry the person. So of course she does what she has to to protect the man she loves. But then he took a bullet for his ex, ready to die for the ex but not live for her.

After a few touch her and …. Moments, they come together and marry so they can take down Monroe. Ethan also admits that Lila is his soulmate <3 I do have a love-hate type of relationship with Ethan… even if it took him a while he still shouldn’t have been sleeping with Aria…. That just made me mad.

This does have a HEA, with a pregnancy(last few chapters)/ baby (prologue)

Some questions that went through my head while I read this book:

Like seriously - if she is supposed to be your second chance for love why would you take a bullet for your first love and abandon the MFC?

If you and the dude are the same build why did his jab to your stomach not affect you, not even a grunt?

What was with that random threesome scene?

This was a fast and nice read. To be quite honest I wasn't that interested. I didn't have any wow moments.

The writing style was pretty good. The author clearly knows how to portray a scene in a descriptive yet powerful way.
The concept as well was pretty good. I love that ex bodyguard/ex boyfriend has a grudge, marriage of convenience storyline. That I found really interesting.

However I didn't connect with any of the MCs. I didn't care for them. It's not that I didn't like Ethan or Lila, I just felt indifferent. That may be why their story didn't have much of an impact on me. Even their spicy scenes had no effect on me.

This is just my opinion. This just wasn't for me personally.

I loved Ethan and Lila's story. I was on the edge of my seat waiting after the end of Whispers of Devotion!

One of my favorite parts of the story was seeing Lila turn into a badass! I loved all the times she dished it back to Ethan and stood up for herself! Ethan definitely made it hard for her with how obsessed he was and I loved him for it!

I'm obsessed with the way this story played out! The suspense was excellent and I loved that it gave teasers that would build on the world KT is writing! So so good!

“To those who battle with shadows in the silence of their minds, This book is dedicated to the warriors whose scars tell stories of both pain and survival. Your journey is not defined by the moments of darkness, but by the courage you summon each day. For those who feel lost in the labyrinth of their own thoughts, may this story give you a bit of solace. Even if it is just for a moment.”

I BETA read this story, and when I tell you I’ve been thinking about it and waiting for everyone to be able to experience it, I’m not lying!! Ethan and Lila are just ✨chefs kiss✨ perfect!

After leaving Cedarbrook behind, Ethan Thornwood finds himself in Chicago working for Lila’s dad - as her bodyguard.

Sweet little princess, Lila Ashford just loves to rebel and push her boundaries, even while doing what’s expected of her by her father.

With a complicated history filled with secrets, lies, and deception, Ethan finds himself on the wrong side of Lila’s gun - literally. Things go from bad to worse and thinking that she did something completely unthinkable, Lila turns and runs, ensuring the most twisted game of cat and mouse that she’s ever played with Ethan claiming his ultimate prize - her!

While there are enough details in this story that you don’t have to read the first 2 books in this series without feeling lost, I still highly recommend you read them to fully experience the buildup that leads to this epic conclusion.

“In your darkest moments, remember that the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is here, ready to listen and support you: 1-800-273-TALK (8255). May you find strength in the light that flickers within you, guiding you through the shadows to a place of peace and healing. You are not alone on this journey. Much love, Katie”

I really liked Lila's character arc from the previous books into this one, proving her worth as a former Ashford and that she could have taken over her father's empire if she had really wanted to. I think that Ethan had a lot of growing up to do, especially after leaving Cedarbrook and Aria when he was younger, and I really loved his devotion and love for Lila. Even though Aria was his first love, Lila was definitely his end game. While I enjoyed the second chance aspect of this book, Ethan didn't really give Lila a chance to say no? So, yes second chance, but also possessive alpha male that is like...nope you're mine.

I think that the resolution to the plot that we have been going through in the Whispers trilogy was good, with a slight plot twist that I did not see coming. But I felt this book dragged on a little bit. I felt like a lot of the middle part was just Ethan asserting to Lila that they were getting back together, when they clearly already were.

If you want a quick, fast paced, romantic suspense, pick this up.

Though this book can be read as a standalone, I would definitely recommend starting the trilogy from the beginning to better understand the overarching plot. Thank you to K.T. Maddan and Happily Booked PR for the eARC of Whispers of Deception, available now.

**Whispers of Deception** by K.T. Madden is a gripping dark romance that immerses you in a world of obsession, betrayal, and dangerous love. The story revolves around Ethan and Lila, whose tumultuous past is marked by intense highs and devastating lows, yet their connection remains unbreakable.

Ethan is obsessed with Lila, treating her like royalty while grappling with a desire for revenge. Their relationship echoes the haunting vibes of *Haunting Adeline*, complete with guns, stalking, and an all-consuming passion. Madden crafts Ethan as the "king of lies," a complex antihero who is both possessive and deeply flawed. Lila, who once shattered his heart, proves to be anything but a victim—her strength and resilience create an electric tension that makes every encounter sizzle with unresolved emotion.

The narrative is fast-paced, packed with sharp twists and high-stakes psychological tension. Themes of power, control, and trust weave seamlessly throughout the plot, culminating in a story that balances raw emotion with an atmospheric intensity. The steamy scenes between Ethan and Lila pulse with passion, making their love-hate relationship the heart of this tale.

While it can be enjoyed as a standalone, reading the earlier books in the series enriches the experience and adds depth to the characters' histories. *Whispers of Deception* is not for the faint of heart, but if you crave a dark romance with morally complex characters and a plot that keeps you on your toes, this novel will leave you breathless. In this world, love comes at a dangerously high price, and innocence is a luxury no one can afford.

The start of this dark romance is pretty good. It was quite strong and left me a good impression. I was really looking forward to it.

I think the first 50% was engaging and interesting for me, but after that, I felt like the consistency and the writing went a little bit flat for my liking.

I was really looking forward to Ethan and Lila's romance, but it did kind of feel a little bit anticlimactic for their developments. I would love for it to have that tension and pinning going it, but there was none, so that left me dissatisfied.

I'm actually quite more interested in Aria and Matt. I'll definitely check if they already have a story or have an upcoming solely for theirs.

Anyway, the revenge thing was a little bit anticlimactic for me as well. There's also quite not that strong factor of dark romance elements that has been done in a way I liked. It felt quite light for me after the 50%.

Overall, the idea and concept were there. I wasn't just that satisfied with how it's executed. 50% was quite good. The last 50%— I think it could have been better.

Thank you, author, for the e-arc opportunity 🫶

Thank you so much to K.T. Maddan for allowing me to read this arc 🖤

This is the third book in the series, and it didn’t disappoint!
I absolutely loved Ethan & Lila’s story.

Ethan & Lila have quite the history. Ethan was her bodyguard for a few years, and they also had a relationship within that time. Until Lila’s father forced her to leave Ethan, and then he arranged a marriage with another man. But things take a turn, and Lila finds herself on the run.

Years pass, and the two find themselves together again, with a common enemy they want to take down. Through all this, old feelings find their way back, and they get a second chance at a relationship, even if it is strained and forced at first lol.
I don’t want to give to much away, so just read this book 😉

Whispers of Deception was so good, and it was so great to be back in the Cedarbrook world. Loved having moments of Aria and Matt in here too! Cannot wait for another book in this series!

✨Dark Romance
✨Marriage of Convenience
✨Ex-Bodyguard
✨Second Chance
✨Revenge

I was happy to read this one when I did because I was in the mood for a good dark romance. And this one hit the spot.

Ethan and Lila have a past with lots of ups and downs. But regardless, there remains a strong connection between the two that nothing, literally nothing can break. Ethan is obsessed with Lila and isn’t afraid to admit it. It’s giving Haunting Adeline vibes—guns, stalking, obsession, you get it. Ethan treats Lila like the queen she is and praises her like no other.

I thought this was a good, quick read, dark romance. There’s tons of action, there’s suspense, there’s spice, and there’s tension. Definitely a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the entire story. Even though this could be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the first 2 books in the series as there’s a lot of history between all the characters.

Thank you K.T. Madden for the eARC!!

I was looking forward to Ethan and Lila's story, and it did not disappoint.
Ethan started off as Lilas body guard. They always had a connection, but it was never the right time for them. Until it was...
They come together in a marriage of convinience to take down the enemies, and Ethan makes her fall for him once again. I love the love they had for each other and that you get to see the past characters and how they are doing in this book. This was a fast-paced mafia spicy read!

I love a good second chance romance with a dash of revenge and deceit. This book definitely hit the spot. Ethan is such a possessive MMC and the mouth on him had me absolutely melting. Lila is a strong FMC who just happens to match Ethan's energy perfectly. I loved how the plot unraveled and how they ended up. I also enjoyed getting more of Aria and Matt! I adore all the side characters, even good old D. This was a great read and the perfect closure to the Whispers Trilogy.

This was a good quick dark romance! Lila and Ethan have quite a history! I haven't read the other two books and I was able to enjoy the story but I did feel like I was missing out on some of the back story. Lila is the princess to a crown of blood and horrors. She tries to escape but the plans fail and she shoots the wrong person. Then she runs and hides.

Ethan has only one goal Lila. Whatever and however it takes to get her he will do it. He knows where she is he is just waiting for the time to be right to reclaim what is his.

This story is their history and all the crazy that comes with it. Ethan is serious touch her and unalive vibes!

This was my introduction into the world of KT Madden and I was impressed!

This was a fun, dynamic, and spicy mafia read. It’s book 3 in the series and while it can be read as a stand alone (I did) I do believe it would be helpful to read the two books before it. It would make the world in Cedarbrook make more sense.

Premise…

A mafia princess falls in love with her sexy bodyguard at 18 but then her world is forcibly turned upside down by her father and other powerful men. After a tragic turn of events she finds herself escaping life for bit. A couple years later, she is on a mission to truly grasp the life she wanted for herself no matter what the cost.

The relationship between Lila and Ethan was everything you want in a dark mafia romance. He’s not sweet or gentle but he would truly burn the world for her, even after everything she has done.

Tropes:

🔥 Ex bodyguard/ mafia princess
🔥 Touch her you ☠️
🔥 Forced proximity
🔥 Marriage of convenience
🔥 Spicy level 4.5

So in the beginning I was a little confused, but that was totally my fault. I didn't realize when I signed up for the ARC read that it was the third book in the series. 😅🤣💀 so once I got past my initial confusion I absolutely fell toxicly in love with Lila and Ethan's relationship.

Ethan starts off as Lila's Bodyguard, but once she turns 18 they take a swing at a relationship. Then a major turn of events happen because of a misunderstanding and they are estranged for a little over a year.

But the whole time Ethan knows where Lila is and basically stalks her in his own caring/hunting way.

They end up reuniting and then it is on from there with the drama and action.

I definitely cannot wait to read more about these characters. This trilogy may be complete, but these character's stories are hopefully far from over!

When you think that things couldn’t get more 🔥🔥 after Aria and Matt but boy oh boy was I wrong.

I loved how whispers of Deception literally started out right where Whispers of Devotion left off.. even with Aria and Matt playing with Ethan a little more. 🌶️💦

But honestly Lila and Ethan can only be described as explosive together. Like who wouldn’t want to be hunted down in the woods by a man who claims you as his wife… 👀

Ethan is all the things we love in our book men, touch her and you won’t ever see the day of light, morally grey and will burn the world for her!!

Lila is a strong FMC that has been groomed to take over her family business after her brother failed, a family business she worked with Ethan to tear down. But in the world of working with Criminals there’s always someone lurking that wants what doesn’t belong to them. Lila has a way of playing the perfect part while seeing through all of the bullshit.

This book was honestly a really well written, captivating dark romance and I was totally here for it.

This was a nice conclusion to the Cedarbrook Trilogy. I fell for Lila's broken soul in Whispers of Devotion and I'm so happy I finally got to read her hea.

Lila Ashford has been a "Princess" her whole life, living under her father's thumb ready to be used as a pawn in his criminal empire. Her father never expected his little pawn to grew into the very Queen that would burn down his empire.

Ethan left his hometown 7 years ago with the intention for getting revenge from Rownan Ashford, but he never thought it's turn into so much more. He became Lila's bodyguard when she was 14. In 4 years he knew she would play a critical role in his revenge plot, but once she became 18 he knew she was the one for him.

Lila is my favorite in this series! She has fallen victim to asking with her emotions instead of rational thinking, but it honestly makes her so much more human. She was such a broken soul & needed some to not save her, but show her the strength she has and to stand by her side. Ethan was exactly that person. He not only protected her, but helped her ways she needed. He showed her that she was ENOUGH, just the way she was💚

Ethan was honestly a baby when he left Cedarbrook, but he came back a man. He loves with his whole heart and we've seen this so many times with his family, Aria, even Tierney and especially with Lila. I do wish we got more of a "revenge" for Lila shooting Ethan, but let's be honest, his goal was never revenge.

Lila getting her revenge from Monroe & Jessica was 🔥🔥🔥 She's absolutely amazing! And in the end she did burn her father's empire down and finally got the freedom she deserved!

The only thing I couldn't get over in this book was Ethan being in a physical relationship with Aria(& Matt) while still stating that Lila would be his wife & indirectly persuing her & losing cover when she went on 1 date in the past 18 months. To me that just made Ethan look possessive & obsessive over Lila. Even after they were married Ethan was "dying for a taste" of Aria & Matt, but 2 paragraphs later "had to show Lila he ONLY craved her". It was too many mixed signals for me. Especially with the balcony scene in WoD, then going to Lila & being mad at her, seemed more of Ethan claiming ownership of Lila rather than being in love with her. For me I felt Lila deserved someone that didn't play around with others while being in love with her.

If you can look past Ethan's relationship with Aria then this honestly an amazing story!

Also Dimitri MARRIED?! Never thought I'd see the day! Can't wait to read his story and how Alina has a control on him!

K.T. Madden’s Whispers of Deception is a dark, twisted, and utterly captivating romance that pulls you into a world of obsession, betrayal, and dangerous love. From the first page, you’re immediately thrown into a high-stakes, emotionally charged narrative where love and vengeance are tightly intertwined.

The characters are what make this story so addictive. Ethan, the "king of lies," is the epitome of a dark and brooding antihero. His obsession with Lila, who both shattered his heart and betrayed him by pulling the trigger, makes for a powerfully complex dynamic. He’s not your typical romantic lead—he’s possessive, vengeful, and unrelenting in his pursuit of Lila. Yet, Madden writes him with a depth that keeps you invested in his motives, even when his actions are chilling. His internal struggle between love and revenge is riveting, making him a character you can’t help but be fascinated by.

Lila, on the other hand, is equally compelling. As someone who dared to kill the man she loved, she’s no shrinking violet. Her strength and resilience shine through as she faces the consequences of her actions. The tension between her and Ethan is electric—every encounter crackles with unresolved emotions, passion, and danger. Madden does a brilliant job of building their chemistry, making their love-hate relationship the heart of the story. Lila's journey is one of survival, but also of facing her past and the choices she made, which adds layers to her character.

The plot itself is fast-paced, filled with sharp twists and psychological warfare that keeps you on edge. As Ethan stalks Lila and tightens his grip on her, the story explores themes of power, control, and trust. The intensity of their relationship is both intoxicating and unsettling, a perfect blend for fans of dark romance. Madden doesn’t shy away from the darker aspects of love, giving readers a raw and gritty portrayal of what happens when obsession takes over.

The writing is atmospheric and haunting, with vivid descriptions that bring the dark underworld of Ethan and Lila’s lives to life. The way Madden weaves in psychological tension with raw emotion creates a gripping narrative that’s hard to put down. The steamy scenes between the two are as intense as their emotional conflicts, making for a highly charged, passionate read.

Whispers of Deception isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you love dark romance with morally complex characters and a plot that will keep you guessing until the very end, this book is for you. It’s a twisted, seductive tale of love, betrayal, and retribution that will leave you breathless. K.T. Madden has crafted a masterful story where no one is innocent, and love comes at a dangerously high price.

Not gonna lie, it's very difficult to pick quotes from this book that don't spoil the story and are "community guidelines" compliant. Which, in my book, means the story is that much more entertaining. Profanity and darkness and juicy story detail? Yes, please! That being said, this story is much darker than the others, in my opinion, & completely falls in line with more traditional dark romance themes. In fact I would say book 1 is a small town/ranch romance with darker themes, book 2 is a darker romcom with "underworld/family organizations" & heist themes, so book 3 is a dark romance that brings the series conclusion.
"'Five hundred and seventy-nine days since you tried to stop my beating heart. But having you here, it’s pounding just trying to get out; to bleed again for you.'”
Who knew our baby boy Ethan was so bad?! Who else gets *pew pew-ed* & immediately after healing goes in search of the woman who caused his injury to marry her? Ethan MF’ing Thornwood, that’s who. Honestly, I was hesitant to read this because we didn’t like the FMC {I mean, she hurt our baby boy Ethan}, but Katie gives Lila some redemption so we’re shipping the newest Thornwood wife. This story includes many common dark romance themes, so please check your warnings & if you’re a fan of this genre, you’ll love this too. I think my favorite part of this story is how complete it felt. We’ve spent 2 books with these characters & in this world, so this truly felt like tying a bow on this series… a true conclusion. The doors remain open for more stories, but this story is guaranteed to leave the reader satisfied.
"She deserves to know that she is the only person for me, the only one I truly desire. My past with Aria and Matt is special in its own way, but it’s nothing compared to the euphoria her existence brings to mine. She revived me. When my darkness wanted to swallow me whole, she showed me her delicate light, and I devoured it whole so she could shine brightly inside of me. I don’t believe in soulmates, never have, but I do believe that Lila is the vessel in which my soul lives."
I felt like Katie did a great job tying off this series while still creating yet another unique story in the Whispers Trilogy. There are still more stories to tell (& I'm super excited to see how other characters we've met will develop as we expand this world), but this ending is sure to leave you satisfied.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 🌶️🌶️🌶️

When it comes to possessive men, KT knows how to write them. This interconnected series has been an emotional rollercoaster but when you get off the ride, you are so glad you rode it. And each book is better than the last. KT definitely took risks with Ethan and Lila’s story, but they paid off and in the end left the readers with a book that never let up! A book worth reading if you like dark, possessive, and you’re mine romances.

Ethan was Lila’s bodyguard, turned boyfriend (another trope we all love). Although he saw a future with her, he never really got over his first love, who married someone else. While protecting Aria (first love), he was presumed no longer alive, but kept tabs on Lila. He did let Aria know he was still alive and got into some sticky spots with her and her husband. I will admit, I didn’t enjoy this part of the storyline. But when he finds out Lila is in trouble, he comes out of hiding and claims her as his own.

Lila is the daughter of a truly heinous man, something she didn’t fully realize until he was no longer with her either. At one point, he made her choose between Ethan, the man she loved, living or not. Knowing he would protect Aria with his life, but not live for her, somewhat broke her. Imagine her surprise when he shows back up, after been gone for year, wanting to marry her. Talk about trust issues!

KT definitely made the readers go through a lot before the ending of this book. I felt for Lila the most as she had been hurt by two very important men in her life. Ethan had to prove himself a lot before I was ready to forgive and want him and Lila back together. However, in the end, KT brings the story to a wonderful end and a HEA. She wrote a storyline that twisted, turned, knotted, and then someone worked!

As always, review any author notes before reading.

When Lila's bodyguard and ex-boyfriend, Ethan, takes away her last chance at freedom from inheriting her father's questionably-legal empire, she retaliates by unaliving him. Escaping across the country, Lila tries to live a normal life. However, Ethan is never far from her mind until he shows up and unalives her date. His brush with near-death put everything in perspective, and now his only focus is getting Lila to agree with his plan. Marrying him will save her from her father's business partners and rivals and give him control over the empire alongside her. Their rushed Vegas wedding seals the deal, and they head to Cedarbrook to hang low with his family. Ranch life isn't Lila's forte, but she is thrilled to get to know Ethan all over again. When they are invited to a fundraiser hosted by their biggest rival, Lila, Ethan, and their friends attend with the mission to take it all down. The tables are turned, and Lila is adultnapped, forcing Ethan to take down their rival one man at a time until he gets her back.

Marriage of convenience between a forbidden love bodyguard/heiress couple? Sign me up. It just sweetens the deal that they have such a whirlwind history and she spent their time apart thinking she unalived him and has been wracked with guilt. I loved their reunion, where she promptly freaked out, then almost got herself unalived by a bad guy until Ethan saved her. Their climb back to happiness was rough, but they made it. He's so possessive and growly... Men, take notes! His habit of chasing her through the woods was top-notch. The spice was the perfect mix of pleasure and pain.

I’m usually a romantasy reader, I enjoy those types of books more but every now and then I will pick up a little romance novel. That is part of the reason why I applied to be able to get an ARC. I didn’t read the other two books in the trilogy, I read this as a standalone. So I was confused on some of the characters personalities and the setting. I will definitely have to go back and read those.

The book was good! I’m not too fond of reading a lot of smut on top of smut in one book but again every now and then I like to indulge. The MMC is crazy simply put. And he’s crazy for Lila and I love that.

Some parts sort of threw me off and made me a little annoyed. Ethan claimed all he could think about was Lila and only ever wanted was her but he jumps in front of his ex, his first love in complete disregard to Lila and how she was feeling and then also has her give him head while her boyfriend fucks her. It felt like such a random moment and I didn’t enjoy it as much. It threw me off and then he got upset when someone kissed Lila and I’m like okay buddy.

I was only pleased with Ethan and Lila only when it was established that Ethan and the first love no longer loved each other romantically and that was towards the end. But I always felt that she still liked Ethan even when Lila was back in the picture but I enjoyed how Lila and her friendship evolved.

I loved the tropes and the plot. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

Ok let me start off by saying I completely missed the memo that this was book 3 in an interconnected series….completely my fault…BUT with that being said after finishing this book I bought the first 2 to read later…yes I already know how things end up but I don’t care…I have to know how we got there
No you don’t have to read them in order but I’d recommend you do….Yes book 3 still made sense even though I started there….each book has a different couple…book 3 is Lila & Ethan
Those two….if I’m going to have a man in my life keep tabs on me & make sure I’m safe please let it be an Ethan…even after “the incident” he still would have gone to the end of the earth to protect Lila…& Lila could be such a brat but in the best way…with the upbringing she had & things she saw I think most of her brattiness was a protective shield….I loved it….Ethan knew where their story would take them….it just took Lila a bit to catch up…Ethan’s friendship with Aria did him no favors with Lila but she learned quickly things aren’t always as they seem

Would I recommend this book??? Yes but read them in order….based on events talked about I’m betting we see these two in the first two books as secondary characters…this time they were the main event & I was here for it
Do check the triggers & content warning…I usually breeze by the list but saw where some things could be a lot for someone to take

Whispers of Deception is the third book in the Marriage of Convenience Dark Romance series Whispers of Cedarbrook. I did not read the first 2 and started with this one only because it was stated that it could be read as a standalone. However, during some parts of the book, I did feel like I was missing a few details... nothing to prevent me from enjoying the story, but just little subtle tidbits dropped here and there that left me scratching my head.
Ethan was Lila's bodyguard whom she started dating with the permission of her father until her father was able to find a suitor for her to marry. When her father does find a suitor for her and Lila finds out that her father is about to be taken down and she will be inheriting his business very soon, she tries to rush her arranged marriage so that her suitor would take over the business... None of that goes as planned and Lila ends up almost killing Ethan is now in hiding. Except he's found her and is watching her. When they finally come to head and realize their situation, they join forces to take down an enemy that they have in common.
This book was spicy with obsession, stalking, suspense, lots of tension, forced marriage, and possessiveness. I was rally happy with the way the ending played out. I hope there will be more to the series and if there is, I look forward to reading it.

I will start this review by saying I have loved K.T. Maddan's books. So much so that I will always try to read new releases to the "Whispers of Cedarbrook" series. The fact that the marriage of convenience troupe was thrown into this was an immediate YES for me.

K.T. has a gift for encapturing the readers into her stories through beautifully thought-out quotes, a storyline with captivating characters, the right amount of spice, and a good amount of plot twists. When I read a book, writing style is one of the major things that stands out for me. K.T. has one of my favorite writing styles/abilities as an indie author. She held my attention from beginning to end as she told Lila and Ethan's love story! I loved the mafia princess/ ex-bodyguard dynamic in the story and the way she put so many intricate details into the storyline: some things I never thought of. It was one of the more "darker" books of the series but well WORTH it! They say save the best for last and SHE DID THAT. If I annotated my books, most of the book would be highlighted because so many quotes stood out to me, scenes made me feel things deeply, I can not say enough about her writing style and what it does for me when I read her stories. This book will definitely be on my personal shelf in no time! SO GOOD and 5/5 recommending!

I will forever support and hype up KT Maddan and her books! The 3rd and last book in The Whispers of Cedarbrook trilogy did not disappoint in. the. slightest.

KT said this book would be the darkest and smuttiest of the 3 and, boy, she did not lie! Lila and Ethan’s story was exactly as I expected and more. Ethan started as Lila’s bodyguard, turn boyfriend, turn stalker (after she shot him), turn husband. He is loyal to a fault and loves & protects Lila like his life depends on it! Lila, though having her own faults and insecurities, never wavers from her devotion to Ethan and their story is beautiful and deep and just everything!

While most of the story follows their life after marriage in Cedarbrook where Ethan’s family and friends all reside, this book does center on Lila’s past and getting her out of the criminal underworld her deceased father and his deranged partner ran together. It does end in a HEA and I felt very satisfied with how it was left off for both Ethan and Lila and their family/friends!

Though this was Ethan and Lila’s story, I adored getting to see more of the previous couples and how they were doing in this book as well! All in all, this book was definitely worth the wait and I can’t WAIT for everyone else to experience Ethan and Lila the way I was able to.

Overall Rating: 3.5
Spice: 3.5

Whispers of Deception had me invested from the first page. There was so much going on but it all comes together at the end. If you are looking for an action filled, suspenseful, and mysterious mafia romance that has spice, this one is for you. The writing is pretty good and the characters are realistic and dynamic. It is not as dark of a romance as I thought it was going to be but overall it was a very good read. This is book three in the series and though this can be read as a standalone, I would advise that you read books 1 and 2 before reading this one for a better reading experience.

Whispers of Deception Is Perfect For Those Who Love:
🖤 Dark Romance
🖤 Mafia Romance
🖤 Marriage of Convenience
🖤 He Was Her Bodyguard
🖤 Second Chance Romance

Being honest, I did not expect to fall so hard for Ethan and Lila‘s story after reading book one and two of the series but I totally and completely did. Ethan just is that fantastic obsessive dark brooding delicious jilted lover you feel for. I really enjoyed Whispers of Deception. A second chance, ex bodyguard, revenge, marriage of convenience, dark romance that is full of secrets lies, deception and soul consuming passion. The dark world that Ethan and Lila are part of causes a whirlwind of emotional ups and downs that is quite the turbulent ride. They have a quite the long history between them causing deep rooted emotions that both are continuously trying to fight. No denying Ethan‘s obsession with Lila. The evolution of Lila‘s personality from insecure princess to badass is so fantastic. The banter is alot of fun to read and I thoroughly enjoyed the second chance aspect of the plot. I really enjoyed having Tierney & Elias plus Aria & Matt throughout the book making it a true family affair.
You do not have to read the first two books in the Whispers of Cedarbrook series to enjoy this one, but for continuity and a much better reading experience I highly recommend it. All three books in are excellent stories that I highly recommend.
