A.J. Llewellyn lives in California, but dreams of living in Hawaii. Frequent trips to all the islands, bags of Kona coffee in the fridge and a healthy collection of Hawaiian records keep this writer refueled.
A.J’s passion for the islands led to writing a play about the last ruling monarch of Hawaii, Queen Lili’uokalani as well as a non-erotic novel about the overthrow of her kingdom written in diary form from her maid’s point of view.
A.J. never lacks inspiritation for male/male erotic romances and on the rare occasion this happens, pursues other passions such as collecting books on Hawaiiana, surfing and spending time with friends and animal companions.
A.J. Llewellyn believes that love is a song best sung out loud.
I was hoping that this chapter would be a little easier for Zero and Stride, after the tough time they had of it in the last one. Of course, no such luck! In many ways this made me suffer even worse, because I now know how good they can be together – and so does Zero. Stride turns out to be the unwitting obstacle here. The evil Vampire Queen comes up with plan after plan, the settings for the scenes are wilder than ever and the emotional suffering made my heart hurt for these two.
Zero made a major mistake in the last chapter, basically handing what I hope is a temporary victory to the Vampire Queen. He really suffers the consequences now, but his love has become so strong that he will do anything to fight the evil woman and try to gain Stride back. He gets to the point where he is ready to sacrifice himself to save his lover – talk about true love!
Stride, since the changed timeline makes him a different man from who he was before, looks at the whole situation very differently. No longer hampered by feelings of love toward Zero or his first lover, he gives in to the demons and uses his powers. While this doesn’t really help them in the current situation, it may do so in the future. Unfortunately, I fear it may make things worse for a while.
This was an interesting chapter because it continued the focus on Zero and Stride’s inner conflict with themselves and the emotional battle between them. That doesn’t mean that there is any less action, though, on the contrary. The almost crazy pace at which things develop doesn’t let up for a single moment. If you like conflicted heroes who reluctantly start delving into their feelings while trying to overcome a seemingly all-powerful enemy, you will most likely love this chapter of the serial as much as I did.
