*** More action, violence, rescue and hot loving !
Continuing on from book one in this fast paced series, we have more adventures, although these can stand alone.
* We met the fierce men of Wild Bluff Ranch. It's a compound of ex-military warriors, living under the guise of cowboys on a horse ranch. Grant is tracking a team member gone rogue, Craig. Grant and Roger want to have a relationship and have it become serious. Zander and Marshall are now hot and heavy.
* These characters are strong, loyal fighters, plus they are tender, raw and powerful in their relationships. After years of battle, these guys are opening their hearts to some tenderness and romance. I understood that, and they make mistakes, but talk it out. Their ranch time lets them relax enough to explore.
The story is action packed, with violence, a kidnapping, intrigue, a fire, disguises,
espionage, and a bomb. Our team are experts in taking out the bad guys who hurt people and children.
You will love the sexy times with our M/M couples.
These tales move quickly and are cliffhangers, but like I said, they can be stand alones.
I am moving on to the next book. These guys are exciting, and I want more.

Wow, this book shocked the hell out of me! I don't even know where to start to be honest, there are so many things that I want to say…
Colorado Fire is the second book in Sara York’s series Colorado Heart. It revolves around nine men living and working on Wild Bluff, a ranch in Colorado. But that's just their cover. In reality they work for the CIA and are handpicked and trained assassins. These men do anything against human trafficking, terrorism or any other crime that other agencies can't take care of. A sworn community, completely off the radar and operating on their own.
They were brothers in arms and they needed nothing between them, no secrets left unshared.
Like the first book Colorado Fire doesn’t have one main character, it’s more about a team of individuals. Billy and Tucker, who got together in the first book Colorado Wild, Marshal and Zander, best friends since forever, Grant, the team leader and Roger, the newbie on the ranch. Grant still suffers the loss of his partner Craig, who doesn’t seem to be the guy everyone thought he was.
Making short work, Sara York throws her readers right from the beginning in the action. Grant is in England and tries to track down his traitorous ex-partner Craig. He finally gets a handle of what Craig is really involved with. He not only betrayed Grant but also started working for the worst enemy, a terrorist organisation. He had been planning on double-crossing the team for years.
Apart from Grant and Roger and their growing attraction the center of attention is focused on Marshal and his best friend Zander. Marshal feels burned out and needs a break from dangerous missions. On top of that his feelings for Zander have changed from friendly to romantic. What he doesn’t know is that Zander feels the same. *sigh* Only men can be so blind for so long. Watching them pussyfoot around was fun. :)
Suddenly it comes thick and fast and Craig is back in town, ready to destroy everything the men of Wild Bluff have built. He threatens the ranch and all hell breaks loose. Poor Marshal has a really bad time. I won’t go into more details but the showdown is as exciting as hell. It has been a while since I read a book that kept me on my seat like this one. My poor fingernails…
This book is a well written combination of fast-paced action and emotional drama. It really takes things up a notch from the previous book with real ‘edge of your seat’ excitement and true emotional turmoil. But there is also passion, love and... hope. If you like a mix of suspense, crime and hot men love and if you don’t mind a storyline with more than one romance, this series might be the right one for you. Don’t forget to fasten your seat belt and brace yourself for a wild roller coaster ride.
Can’t wait for the next installment and the involvement of one hot fire fighter. :) Recommended!

This takes up right where book one ends. Grant’s after Craig. Billy and Tucker are exploring their relationship and now – very similarly – Marshal and Zander are considering their feelings. It’s another friends-to-lovers, “I’ve never been with a man in this way” scenario and it plays out the same way.
There’s a lot of waffling. I want him, but I shouldn’t do this, what about our friendship, what does this say about me, and a slightly new twist – what about his (Marshal’s) previous crush on Grant?
Then there’s the Craig situation. Craig is out for revenge (we find out more about why) and is determined to get back at Grant as well as the rest of the team for some perceived wrongs.
Meanwhile, Grant and Roger move things forward but… Roger is stil pretty attached to the memory of his ex and it complicates things.

I think fans of book one will love this. It’s just an extension of book one in fact. The drama continues and if you haven’t read book one, you’ll probably be confused and it leaves us in such a place that we want to see what happens in book three because nothing is actually that settled here.
I got a bit annoyed by the back and forth between Marshal and Zander. They’d decide it was ok, have sex, then feel recriminations. Over and over.
I also thought Craig didn’t make decisions that fit his character. He’s supposed to be super smart, greedy and selfish – but doesn’t kill all the guys when he has the chance. Maybe this will be explained more later, but as it stands it didn’t make a lot of sense.
On the one hand, this was not very “inspiring”, but it was interesting and kept me reading.
I started to the audio version just to see if I’d judged the narrator wrong with book one but had to quickly revert to the e-book as the narrator was as bad as I’d remembered.
I’m excited about book three and a new narrator and finding out if James ends up with Brody. ☺

I was sadly disappointed in this book.
While the characters are likable over all and the premise of the story is good the execution is sadly lacking.
First off these are supposed to be strong soldiers, not whiney little teenage drama queens. Yet all they seem to do is whine and express self-doubt and make way too many stupid mistakes. There is also way too much repeating of things. Readers don't need to be told things over and over again.
Furthermore, it is in desperate need of an editor and proofreader. Way too many mistakes not only spelling and grammar errors but timeline errors, technical errors and a couple of glaringly obvious storyline errors that any good editor should have caught and brought to Ms. York's attention.

Didn't care for the first book. Continuing through the second one just became an exercise in tedium. I'm just not buying it. These guys don't act like tough alphas at all. Seems more like high school. And the editing was pretty awful. Spelling and grammar errors often enough that they actually annoyed me, and I'm generally pretty forgiving about that. And too many POV changes. In fact, there were several instances where the wrong names were used. Oh well. Not sure I will bother with the next book.

Sara York's Colorado Heart series is a continuing series and you need to read or listen to them in order. There's a nice mix between action/adventure and romance, and I'm enjoying the premise of the undercover agents masquerading as ranchers and cowboys.
Sadly the narrator, Stan Jenson, didn't work for me.

'Colorado Fire' is book two in Sara York's super exciting series 'Colorado Heart' that revolves around ex-military who now work for the CIA and run missions the majority of the American government has no clue about. These guys all live on a ranch in Colorado, Wild Bluff, and when they aren't gone on a mission they work the ranch as cowboys. It's a fascinating premise and I think the author has done a good job with it.
This book started off right in the action, with Grant being overseas trying to track down his ex-partner, Craig, and get a handle on what he's really involved with so they can take him down if needed. The whole situation doesn't bode well regarding Craig, certainly not after the guys tracked down information showing that Craig left the CIA's employ and the ranch, and immediately began working with a terrorist organization. So, Grant is trying to track down the man he thought he'd have a future with, while Roger is back at the ranch. Those two have got to get their groove on. I did feel bad for Grant because every time he turns around he discovers how much Craig lied to him and it makes Grant really doubt himself.
Marshal is feeling seriously burned out and starting to wonder if he doesn't need time away. The fact that his thoughts about his best friend, Zander, have begun to change recently probably isn't helping the situation. What Marshal doesn't know is that Zander has the same feelings for him, and when they discover them, well, there should be a warning label for what these two guys get up to. Pun intended. Of course, Marshal goes through a bit of the back and forth until he and Zander have the heart-to-heart and agree to try being together in a relationship.
The ending was exciting although a tad predictable. The author has opened up a possible love interest for another of the men on the ranch so it'll be interesting to see if that's the direction she takes. If you like a story with more than one romance storyline, and some intrigue, then this series might be for you.

The Facts: Colorado Wild was published September 27th, 2013 and Colorado Fire was published December 3rd, 2013 by Sara York
The Cover: The book has a beautiful cover, no doubt. But it seems to suggest a serene cowboy tale instead of the fast action and multiple-POV romance. Some kind of visible sign that all is not as peaceful as it seems would have been great! Something to visually hook those who might be interested for the spy/assassin aspect of the books.
The Title: I really do like the title. It places the story in a regional setting and suggests something "wild" happens there. Which is accurate in my opinion. The titles fit well for a series , as it is easy to realize they belong together and I found them catchy and memorable.
The Story: The story of these books is really fast-moving and exciting. I wasn't sure what to expect from this set-up. Cowboy/ assassin-spy-ex-military - all interesting ingredients, but I wasn't sure how they would fit together. When I finished book 1, I couldn't stop for a review and had to read the next one immediately. For me the books have the same major pros and cons and so I thought reviewing both at once would be a good idea for this series ;) So, how did all these aspects fit together, you may wonder?
Well, the story begins at the Wild Bluff, a farm in Colorado that works as cover for the ex-military team that has been assembled by the CIA, but works independently from the agency for deniability. A new recruit is taken in blindfold to the farm and as he is introduced to everything like the farm, the other characters and the concept behind this special ops group, the readers are as well. There are 9 members of the group on the farm and we get to know them all very well through the multiple-POV storytelling, which also gives very different gay relationships that readers can follow.
I didn't really think it was totally credible that pretty much all of them were gay - but I really couldn't seem to care all that much about it either. Because, holy hotness. Having not one relationship but getting to follow all of them at different stages, but with nice pay-off in every case, was so rewarding. The novels don't seem to take themselves too serious , so I guess I was not bothered by it either. It's more about interesting characters that find love and lust in different ways as they use their special skills to rid the world of evil people.
The characters are all very good guys, but I do think it needs to be said that their job could easily be misused by anyone else. They have the ability to take or refuse any job and decide together about the life of other people. As someone who is against the death penalty, I cannot approve killing anyone. There is too much darkness in humans that prevents them from being able to make decision about who should live and who should die. And yet, I find assassin character fascinating in books.
It is interesting to me how people can do that - kill people- even if they think it is right and still live a normal life. These books show how everyone of the 9 guys strives to do good and use their skills in a meaningful way. The guys are good, the system they have works and they seem to be vigilante good guys, balanced by the work they do on the ranch. I think they are overly idealized, but it does seem to work for the books. It is easy to fall in love with the characters. Getting to know them all through the POVs, we now we can trust them to make good decisions and can put the moral questions on the backburner. They are ex-military and instead of blindly following kill-orders they might not understand, everyone of them has a part in choosing which missions to take There are no secrets between them ;)
They do seem to live in their own idealistic bubble where everyone is accepted for who they are and the skills they bring to the table and where there is a clear good vs evil. So it is actually fun to follow their stories, edge-of-the seat exciting when they are on their missions, sizzling when they find love and passion together and thoroughly engaging throughout. It was easy to read and not just about hot sex and killing, but about love and doing the right thing.
There is an incredible bond of friendship and trust that comes out when the guys have to face against betrayal and other obstacles and some of the storylines flow over into book 2, which is why I had to go on reading, immediately. If like me you will be able to accept the things I have mentioned, you will find a great, engaging action thriller with a lot of heart and romance and many characters you won't want to let go of. Sara York has created a team of renegade ranchers/ assassins, who have isolated themselves and only rely on each other to make a change in a corrupted world. 5 stars for hotness, 5 stars for fast-paced action, 5 stars for love and romance, 5 stars for friendship, 5 stars for the cute, lil' baby horse, 5 stars for crossing hot cowboys with hot ex-military spies.
So I guess it's okay if I turn a blind eye on some suspension of disbelief that is necessary and cal it a 4.5? You guys should definitively give them a try, especially now that they are just .99 cents per book. Really can't go wrong with that!!

As I wrote in my introduction for this blog yesterday, MM Romance books were an integral part for my coming out, by showing me a reason to confront my sexuality and thereby bring changes into my comfortable, but lonely life. Showing me the love and intimacy I could have with a man made me realize that all the challenges and obstacles coming out would bring into my life would still be worth it. I might be bi, even if I prefer men, but by closing this part of me off, I was missing part of myself. Hearing about all the gay teen suicides makes my heart break every time and I believe it is incredibly important to show that true love, romance, intimacy and the possibility of a happily ever after exists for gay men. That it can get better! So I’m very grateful for what you are doing for the community by contributing stories and hope for gay readers as well as helping to spread acceptance and understanding among straight readers. But we’ve now talked about Dinosaurs and Bunnies – clearly all that’s missing are spies and cowboys. About five weeks ago, you released Colorado Fire, book two of the Colorado Heart series. How did you get the idea for the premise of CIA agents working a farm as cowboys, when not on a mission? And can you tell us a bit more about this series, for those who haven’t read it yet?
I love cowboys. I grew up in rural Texas, and yes, I did have a horse. We also had a 1500 acre ranch and ran a few hundred head of cattle. Cowboys, real cowboys, are full of masculinity and ready for anything. At the ending of my Texas Soul series I wanted to write another cowboy story, but I didn’t want to write a copy of the Texas series.
One morning while walking the dogs, I started talking to my husband about my idea of the Colorado books. My first interest in writing has always been mystery and thrillers. I combined the two in the Colorado Heart series. It’s a far out premise, but it is fiction and I wanted to do a what if these guys who are patriotic lived together instead of hiding, never trusting anyone.
On Wild Bluff Ranch there is no shortage of talent. Grant Stovall, Duff Whitaker, Marshal Stevenson, and Tucker Hayes were all in the Marines before coming to the ranch. Roger Burk was a SEAL, Mike Willson was in the army and Billy Bradford, James Davenport, and Zander Freeland all have military experience. The entire group has taken paramedic training but Zander, Mike, went beyond that and took another six month course on surgical procedures. Tucker, James, Mike, Billy and Grant are all pilots. And if you need a sharpshooter, there are six of them on the ranch. All in all, it’s either the safest place on the planet or the most dangerous, depending on how you look at it.
The Colorado Heart series won’t be limited to only those men you currently see on the ranch. For those readers who have read the Texas Soul series, you see the foreshadowing of what’s to come. The Texas Soul series might be over in terms of it being a series, but there is going to be more than one crossover character.
An interesting fact about the book, my horse, Abilene, actually was bit by a snake like Beauty was bit. After he healed, he hated hay, never ate it again. He was the best horse ever. Some of the things I experienced on the ranch are peppered through the book, giving a realistic look at what ranch life is like.

I’m interested to see how our readers respond to these questions ;) Do you often integrate parts of your own experience into your books in some ways and what do you do when you have to write about something that you don’t have personal experience with like missions or gay love scenes?
In some ways, yes, I do integrate personal experiences in my writing, but when I write mysteries or thrillers, I go back to the research. After a very cool conference this summer, I’ve now taken more than 200 hours of police, FBI, and law enforcement courses. I’ve been lucky enough to do training raids with the SWAT team, and been allowed to do traffic stop training with the police. I’ve done firearm training and I’ve been allowed to see inside the inter workings of the police department. I’ve also done over 40 hours of fireman training, climbing the big ladders, carrying hoses, using the jaws of life, and running into a burning building to put out a fire.
As for MM sex, I’ve never done that. That would be impossible, but I’m more than willing to watch porn. It’s a tough research project, but someone has to do it. On a more serious note, a lot of making love, and having sex is universal. A man making love to a woman or another man, or a woman making love to a woman or a man isn’t so dissimilar that the basic mechanics are foreign. Touch, kissing, licking, and holding are the same. Our emotions, hopes, and desires are all basic components of our search for significance and acceptance. The body parts may be different, and trust me, there are plenty of men willing to talk about their dicks, so getting the information isn’t all that difficult. Since I’ve always written men better, it’s not that difficult to put myself in the place of a gay man, relaying his experiences through my characters.

Having not one relationship but getting to follow all of them at different stages, but with nice pay-off in every case, was so rewarding. The novels don't seem to take themselves too serious , so I guess I was not bothered by it either. It's more about interesting characters that find love and lust in different ways as they use their special skills to rid the world of evil people.
The characters are all very good guys, but I do think it needs to be said that their job could easily be misused by anyone else. They have the ability to take or refuse any job and decide together about the life of other people. As someone who is against the death penalty, I cannot approve killing anyone. There is too much darkness in humans that prevents them from being able to make decision about who should live and who should die. And yet, I find assassin character fascinating in books.
It is interesting to me how people can do that - kill people- even if they think it is right and still live a normal life. These books show how everyone of the 9 guys strives to do good and use their skills in a meaningful way. The guys are good, the system they have works and they seem to be vigilante good guys, balanced by the work they do on the ranch. I think they are overly idealized, but it does seem to work for the books. It is easy to fall in love with the characters. Getting to know them all through the POVs, we now we can trust them to make good decisions and can put the moral questions on the backburner. They are ex-military and instead of blindly following kill-orders they might not understand, everyone of them has a part in choosing which missions to take There are no secrets between them ;)
They do seem to live in their own idealistic bubble where everyone is accepted for who they are and the skills they bring to the table and where there is a clear good vs evil. So it is actually fun to follow their stories, edge-of-the seat exciting when they are on their missions, sizzling when they find love and passion together and thoroughly engaging throughout. It was easy to read and not just about hot sex and killing, but about love and doing the right thing.
There is an incredible bond of friendship and trust that comes out when the guys have to face against betrayal and other obstacles and some of the storylines flow over into book 2, which is why I had to go on reading, immediately. If like me you will be able to accept the things I have mentioned, you will find a great, engaging action thriller with a lot of heart and romance and many characters you won't want to let go of. Sara York has created a team of renegade ranchers/ assassins, who have isolated themselves and only rely on each other to make a change in a corrupted world. 5 stars for hotness, 5 stars for fast-paced action, 5 stars for love and romance, 5 stars for friendship, 5 stars for the cute, lil' baby horse, 5 stars for crossing hot cowboys with hot ex-military spies.
So I guess it's okay if I turn a blind eye on some suspension of disbelief that is necessary and cal it a 4.5? You guys should definitively give them a try, especially now that they are just .99 cents per book. Really can't go wrong with that!!

As I wrote in my introduction for this blog yesterday, MM Romance books were an integral part for my coming out, by showing me a reason to confront my sexuality and thereby bring changes into my comfortable, but lonely life. Showing me the love and intimacy I could have with a man made me realize that all the challenges and obstacles coming out would bring into my life would still be worth it. I might be bi, even if I prefer men, but by closing this part of me off, I was missing part of myself. Hearing about all the gay teen suicides makes my heart break every time and I believe it is incredibly important to show that true love, romance, intimacy and the possibility of a happily ever after exists for gay men. That it can get better! So I’m very grateful for what you are doing for the community by contributing stories and hope for gay readers as well as helping to spread acceptance and understanding among straight readers. But we’ve now talked about Dinosaurs and Bunnies – clearly all that’s missing are spies and cowboys. About five weeks ago, you released Colorado Fire, book two of the Colorado Heart series. How did you get the idea for the premise of CIA agents working a farm as cowboys, when not on a mission? And can you tell us a bit more about this series, for those who haven’t read it yet?
I love cowboys. I grew up in rural Texas, and yes, I did have a horse. We also had a 1500 acre ranch and ran a few hundred head of cattle. Cowboys, real cowboys, are full of masculinity and ready for anything. At the ending of my Texas Soul series I wanted to write another cowboy story, but I didn’t want to write a copy of the Texas series.
One morning while walking the dogs, I started talking to my husband about my idea of the Colorado books. My first interest in writing has always been mystery and thrillers. I combined the two in the Colorado Heart series. It’s a far out premise, but it is fiction and I wanted to do a what if these guys who are patriotic lived together instead of hiding, never trusting anyone.
On Wild Bluff Ranch there is no shortage of talent. Grant Stovall, Duff Whitaker, Marshal Stevenson, and Tucker Hayes were all in the Marines before coming to the ranch. Roger Burk was a SEAL, Mike Willson was in the army and Billy Bradford, James Davenport, and Zander Freeland all have military experience. The entire group has taken paramedic training but Zander, Mike, went beyond that and took another six month course on surgical procedures. Tucker, James, Mike, Billy and Grant are all pilots. And if you need a sharpshooter, there are six of them on the ranch. All in all, it’s either the safest place on the planet or the most dangerous, depending on how you look at it.
The Colorado Heart series won’t be limited to only those men you currently see on the ranch. For those readers who have read the Texas Soul series, you see the foreshadowing of what’s to come. The Texas Soul series might be over in terms of it being a series, but there is going to be more than one crossover character.
An interesting fact about the book, my horse, Abilene, actually was bit by a snake like Beauty was bit. After he healed, he hated hay, never ate it again. He was the best horse ever. Some of the things I experienced on the ranch are peppered through the book, giving a realistic look at what ranch life is like.

I’m interested to see how our readers respond to these questions ;) Do you often integrate parts of your own experience into your books in some ways and what do you do when you have to write about something that you don’t have personal experience with like missions or gay love scenes?
In some ways, yes, I do integrate personal experiences in my writing, but when I write mysteries or thrillers, I go back to the research. After a very cool conference this summer, I’ve now taken more than 200 hours of police, FBI, and law enforcement courses. I’ve been lucky enough to do training raids with the SWAT team, and been allowed to do traffic stop training with the police. I’ve done firearm training and I’ve been allowed to see inside the inter workings of the police department. I’ve also done over 40 hours of fireman training, climbing the big ladders, carrying hoses, using the jaws of life, and running into a burning building to put out a fire.
As for MM sex, I’ve never done that. That would be impossible, but I’m more than willing to watch porn. It’s a tough research project, but someone has to do it. On a more serious note, a lot of making love, and having sex is universal. A man making love to a woman or another man, or a woman making love to a woman or a man isn’t so dissimilar that the basic mechanics are foreign. Touch, kissing, licking, and holding are the same. Our emotions, hopes, and desires are all basic components of our search for significance and acceptance. The body parts may be different, and trust me, there are plenty of men willing to talk about their dicks, so getting the information isn’t all that difficult. Since I’ve always written men better, it’s not that difficult to put myself in the place of a gay man, relaying his experiences through my characters.

This book, like the first in the series, suffers from a "too much" syndrome. I don't know how else to describe it. There's too much going on at once. Too many relationships developing, all in various stages. Too many different characters to keep track of and finally, too many things happening at once. It's slightly better than the first one on that last front, as they are now really concentrating on catching Craig, but it still seems choppy and chaotic.
Because of the all the things going on it's hard to really get into a relationship with the characters, and that for me is something that is essential. If I don't care about the characters, how can I care about their relationship, and therefore, the story? Lucky for them I've started to care about one couple in particular, so I'll keep on with the series, at least for now! I'll just take a bit of a break before I read the next one. I might be in a different frame of mind then which could also make a difference.

April 2, 2014Hands up: I did probably make a mistake, I read Colorado Fire not only without having read Colorado Wild before, but also without having basically any idea of what the series was about. The result? I struggled with the beginning of the story to grasp all characters (this is really a choral book, with minimum two couples front stage, Zander/Marshall and Grant/Roger, and some other in the background) and their involvement with each other. Moreover, while I had an idea of the whole meaning of Wild Bluff ranch, it was only when one character said it aloud that I was really sure it was a some sort of special team of operative secret agents.
Anyway the secret agent side of the story wasn't really my cup of tea, wherelse I enjoyed the private interactions between the men. Basically all of them the strong and silent type, not really use to talk about their feelings, they were nonetheless able to admit they "had" feelings, and that those feelings were also scaring: they may be not scared by danger and weapons, but the hurting of the heart is something completely different. Sure, it wasn't probably too much realistic to see this big and bold men being at the mercy of their fragile heart, but this is a romance after all, and if we wanted to read about realistic secret agents, we weren't to buy a romance novels, for how much romantic thriller it can be.
The sex scene were quite hot, and, as I said, this is a choral book, even in that aspect, so there were many "pairings" happening, but now don't get me wrong, they were all between committed or soon-to-be committed couples.
So my warning is, if possible, to read the first book and then the second, and to approach this with the right perspective, to enjoy a romance, with a tinge of thriller.

There is lots of action with Roger on a mission and Craig (Grant's ex) out to get them all at Wild Bluff Ranch. There are shootings, bashings, bombs and fires!

Lots of sexy times and also a good story of the guys trying to locate Craig.

Li avevamo lasciati con un tradimento annichilente, una partenza in cerca di risposte e giustizia. In questo secondo capitolo molte sono le dinamiche personali che si inseriscono nella trama portante, relazioni fisiche ad alto contenuto erotico ed emotivo in un continuo cambio di scena e protagonisti.
Le nuove coppie che si formano devono combattere contro la diffidenza e la sfiducia, le ferite del cuore e la paura di lasciarsi andare e credere ancora nell'amore. L'amicizia e il cameratismo che li unisce sono un freno alla passione, passione che romperà facilmente ogni indugio trascinandoli nella passionalità più sfrenata e disinibita.
Ho amato molto il primo volume della serie, l'aspetto corale dell'intreccio e la parte di azione e pericolo che fanno da contrappunto all'aspetto più erotico della trama. In questo secondo volume ho avuto alcune difficoltà nei cambi di prospettiva, pov che in alcune scene mi hanno lasciata leggermente confusa. In alcuni momenti avrei preferito che l'attenzione dell'autrice si soffermasse maggiormente su una coppia soltanto, spostando le altre in un sottofondo di contorno in attesa di un volume a loro maggiormente dedicato. Questa ricchezza di scene e personaggi non mi hanno permesso di apprezzare appieno le interazioni emotive e l'evoluzione relazionale di ognuna delle coppie, dandomi l'impressione di uno sviluppo un po' troppo frammentato e veloce. Un turbinio di fatti ed eventi, emozioni e cambi di direzione che non mi sono risultati particolarmente fluidi, un susseguirsi di input e informazioni che avrei preferito più ponderati e limati.
Ho apprezzato notevolmente la parte di azione, pericolo e suspense che danno stabilità narrativa all'intera vicenda, anche se avrei voluto risposte a tutte le mie domande, dubbi che spero vengano sciolti nei prossimi volumi. In conclusione ho come avuto l'impressione che "Il fuoco del Colorado" sia un volume di passaggio nell'intera seria, una sorta di anteprima per tutto ciò che dovrà ancora venire. La parte romantica è sempre dolcissima e ricca di sensualità ed erotismo trattati con estrema cura e profondità di emozioni attraverso le fragilità dei suoi protagonisti. Consigliato.

OK, Sara York throws a curve here--Roger and Grant are still dancing around each other, but before you know it Grant's ex, Craig, is on the loose and Roger is dispatched on his first assignment to track him down in London. Except that...well, no spoilers about that.
What goes on along the way is that best fiends Marshal and Zander suddenly find each other more than interesting and we are off on another wildly hot developing love story snuggled in the wilds of Colorado. Until someone comes along to blow holes in everyone's lives and fill it with heat that is not romantic at all.
This one is a wild ride, full of adventure, lust and eventually, love. I am still waiting for Grant and Roger to blossom, and I have a couple of others left in the series for that to happen--maybe.

Can't get enough!!!
Having read this before you would think it wouldn't have as strong of an impact on me, but it does every time. More so since I know what's coming. Plus I now want to read the Texas Soul series as well. Decisions decisions lol. Both are so worth the read.

Review: Colorado Heart Books 2 & 3 by Sara York
These men from the Colorado Heart series are simply irresistible. Gorgeous, deadly, compassionate, assassins, cowboys and lovers. Yes, definitely irresistible! Their stories are so intertwined it is best to read the series as a whole. Some men will drive you to tears, some to fears, and some to frustration, but one thing is sure: they all are lovers we dream of.
For Marshall and Zander, they had been best of friends since both came into the ranch. Everyone knows both men are close enough for brothers, but what none of them knew, though Roger suspected, was that Marshall had a definite thing going for Zander. When they finally get it together, both literally and romantically, both men find the joy of their lives and finally may just find their dreams of a happy life in the middle of all this chaos.
Then there's Brody the paramedic and James. James had been a ho but that did not mean he did not want what the others around him were enjoying?! So he looks to the right and sees Zander and Marshall; he looks to the left and sees Billy and Tucker; he looks in front of him and he sees Roger and Grant teaming up too. Of course he wants what they have, but can he have it? Brody is a civilian and could not nor should not be exposed to information that could get him and the men of the Bluff in danger. James has a whole lot of decision making to do.
Within all the romance and military jargon and action, we have Craig. Yes, that manipulative former team mate and lover of Grant who had been slowly and surely betraying his teammates for years and destroying Grant's self-esteem in the process. He sees Grant with a man and immediately thinks Marshall and all hell breaks loose. Then there is DEA Mike Jarred. It does look like this character is going to play a larger and more important role than what we got from book 3 so I do imagine he is going to be the character in focus for the up and coming book 4.
The Colorado Heart books is pretty much written like the Texas series but where that one did not have a convoluted set of characters, the Colorado books definitely is filled up to the brim with them. To top it off, it is impossible to make heads or tails of the series without reading these in order.
There is romance, there is action, there is mystery and there is erotica. A tale of espionage and romance set in the wilds of Colorado, Sara York is a master of spinning tails involving gun-toting assassin cowboys and the lovers they choose to live their forever with.

So, while I was sort of Ok with the first book in the series or should I say the ideas behind the whole series, I wasn’t completely blow away, so this is the second bite at the cherry and I am holding on to the hope that this will give me more of the story I had been hanging out for.
This is a little more event orientated in my opinion than the first one, I got a bit more of the story that I had been hoping for.
There are still lots and lots of points of view and characters to get to grips with but at least I had a story to keep me on my toes, not just characters to blindside me.
There were lost more questions that crept up throughout the story and in some cases those remain unanswered but it all added to the mystery that surrounds the ranch and I have to say there were some aspects of the story that forced me to take a sharp intake of breath.
But what about the guys– well safe to say that they are all there in all their glory.
Grant has taken off trying to decipher what the heck is going on with Craig. I’m not sure whether he will get the answers he is looking for and what impact that might have on the underlying situation that appears to be bubbling between him and Roger- damn these guys are more complicated than I had imagined.
We have Marshall, who is hiding something which I am sure will come out in the next book but he is also hiding the way he feels about Zander – and that makes him one very hot but ever so complicated, confused man!
I liked the mystery and anticipation that their missions bring to the book, I appreciate the situation that they are in and the connection that they all have to each other but and unfortunately there is a but I am struggling with a the fact that these are military men ( I am ex- service) and as such have been in male dominated environments almost all of their working lives and yet some of them are only now coming to term with their sexuality… if you are gay or Bi or whatever you know, you will have always known. In this case I don’t think the uncertainty is positive, I personally don’t like that they are unsure and doubt their own feelings, I want them to be proud of the way they feel and stand tall.
For the most part for me I think that this was better than the first book, it kept my attention and made my anticipation levels soar, I liked the angst and uncertainty with regards to what Craig is up to and I like the fact that other characters are being included into the story.
So, while I was sort of Ok with the first book in the series or should I say the ideas behind the whole series, I wasn’t completely blow away, so this is the second bite at the cherry and I am holding on to the hope that this will give me more of the story I had been hanging out for.
This is a little more event orientated in my opinion than the first one, I got a bit more of the story that I had been hoping for.
There are still lots and lots of points of view and characters to get to grips with but at least I had a story to keep me on my toes, not just characters to blindside me.

Okay Marshal and Zander are absolutely precious together. They are so sweet and kind and show passion to each other. Their friendship helps to make their relationship more intimate. They are there for one another no matter what. Another precious one is Billy and Tucker especially when they agree to marry each other.
Now marshal is sweet and kind but when he gets in bed with Zander Wowza dowzers those two are hot. smokin hot.
Grant is confused. A sweet guy but confused. He got burnt by Craig who betrayed not only him but the ranch. He tries to catch him and make up for the guilt and betrayal he feels but Craig slips through his fingers but not before Grant hurts Craig by turning in Craig's lover. The lover he had when he was still with Grant. Poor grant. Grant though has feelings for Roger. Roger who is getting over losing his love. Roger who wants Grant but is just as afraid as Grant. These two are another wonderful match to see. They complement each other. Both trying to find themselves someone to love but afraid and trying to avoid pain and heartache.
As all this is going on Craig (a great villain that you just want to hate and that is due to the way Sara York has portrayed him) is coming after them all with revenge. He wants to destroy all of them as they did him. He gets jealous at Marshal because he thinks he is with grant. Why he cares? I don't know since he was horrible and just used Grant for his own devious schemes. The men at Wild Bluff when the revenge comes to harm them and Marshal is in danger come together to save themselves and the ranch.
What I am wondering and hoping we see in the next book is the next step in Grant's and Roger's relationship, what happens with Zander and Marshal and if james and the sexy as sin paramedic Brody get together.

“Zander shook his head and placed his hand on his hips, cocking them to the side. He looked sexy as h@ll and sassy as could be. Marshal liked him when he got his way. It was funny to watch Zander go all diva. He didn’t do it often, but when he did, Marshal got a kick out of it.”
4 stars. I will say I loved this book so much more than the first. It was intriguing and defnitely hot in some parts!!

Just like the first book this one doesn’t have one main character it basically focuses on different characters, which could be confusing, maybe, to some people. Besides that I don’t want to give too much away. I will say that the story overall is intriguing and I love that you get to know each character in the book, instead of it focusing only on one character. There’s a lot of passion involved and definitely some steamy parts as well. Like hose you down hot!!! Great second book in the series.
