When it’s 117 degrees where I live, there’s nowhere else I’d like to be than in Cambria (on the California Central Coast) revisiting the delightful Brody family! In this fourth installment of the Bridge Street MDs series (which can also be read as a standalone), Dr. Nolan Brody, ob/gyn, is in the spotlight, along with Andi Hughes, the wedding planner that has had his heart (unbeknownst to her) since he delivered her sister’s baby.
I have read all of Ms. Seed’s books, and while the first series, Moonstone Beach, holds a special place in my heart, the Bridge Street MDs are a very close second. Why? Ms. Seed doesn’t just focus on the couple or the HEA. She weaves in the family dynamic of how the four Brody brothers work together and, along with their parents, create a loving safety net for all the members of the family. The good-natured banter and more serious interventions portray a family that will always have each other’s backs.
Ms. Seed also does a terrific job of writing women, and Ami is no exception. While she certainly has her insecurities, she is still a strong woman who has her own business, and is navigating relationships with the man she’s living with, her best friend, and her family. Through it all, she may have self-doubt, but she never plays the victim. Like any good romance, the road to the HEA has some twists and detours, but if you stay on the path, you won’t be disappointed.
