The book grabbed my attention from the first page and it kept me engaged to the last one. I got the ARC from the author but after reading I bought it immediately. It should definitely have a warning that you won't be able to put this book down !!! I read it in one day. 'Shock wave' is fast paced and so intense. I simply love Jason Trapp. Lots of action, amazing twists and turns, great intrigue, well developed characters made me forget about the whole world. I look forward to the next installment!!!!
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with individuals becoming naturalized citizens. When they are all together, they all die because of a new weapon. Jason and Madison are assigned to a mission where they wind up going to Nigeria. The mission is supposed to be a simple one it winds up being more. Jelany, a Nigerian agent, is assigned to work with them. The trio then moves from Nigeria to Chad as part of their mission. They soon wind up going to London where they hope to stop a demonstration of the new weapon.
After arriving in London, they meet up with Kane who warns them to keep their noses clean. Their trip to London involved obtaining financial information. Both Madison and Jelany wing up being arrested while Trapp tries to complete their mission. The date is learned and before it can happen, Madison winds up going to Taiwan to retriev some data relating to financial transactions. The day of the demonstration arrives with Trapp, Kane and Jelany handling the task in London while Madison was still in Taiwan.
Read what situations each of the team runs into and how they make out in the end.
This story is well done and will keep your interest right to the end. Pick up this book, you won't be sorry!
When a group of recently naturalized citizens all mysteriously die, the CIA needs to find the source, fast. This ends up with Jason Trapp being sent to Nigeria and destroying the mine that had the ore necessary to create the weapon. But was it enough? Was it too late? Following the money leads them to London and MI5 definitely does not want them on their turf. Madison ends up in jail and there is a kill order out on Trapp. Meanwhile, the terrorists seem to have free reign, killing the one person with information that Trapp was able to rescue. Cameron Kane is important to this story. It is up to the reader to decide if he helps Trapp or about to get hi killed. Trapp breaks Madison out of jail and she ends up almost getting killed looking for evidence at the same time Trapp is almost killed trying to end the madness. It's not over yet Excellent read with nonstop excitement
Shock Wave has a little bit of everything that you would like to see in an international thriller. The description given: “A perfect weapon. A foolproof plan. And one man standing in the way” Is a fairly good overview of the 11th Jason Trapp series novel, which takes place in a variety of locations on four continents.
The perfect weapon: a microwave-ish transmitter. The foolproof plan: a devious idea “cooked up” by several international corporate interests. And not just one, but multiple individuals creatively doing everything possible to prevent disaster on a global scale – with Jason Trapp as the spearhead.
This was my fourth Jason Trapp series novel, and I would have to say that it was the most complete. You have lots of action, creative plotting, and intelligent dialogue between individuals and their higher headquarters.
Shock Wave has a great start that immediately pulls you into the story and its characters. The authors writing is good and the story flows easily. The plot is very believeable and I really like Trapp. I like that the story is set in different countries and love the action, suspense and thrills the author brings to his writing. This quickly became one of those reads where I wanted to know what would happen next. The story is very fast paced and races to a thrilling climax. I really enjoyed Shock Wave and would recommend it if you like fast paced, action packed political thrillers. If you're new to this author read the series from the start although I do think this can be read on its own. I'll be looking to catch up on the previous books when I can.
excellent use of mystery, intrigue, violence and plot twists. But, I do not understand the prevelant, persistant use of the disgustingly violent f... word by many thriller authors, such as you are. As I read through the book, I noted that the f_ word could have been omitted only to add to the enjoyment of the reading. If you use that word in your conversation as much as you write it, I would not care to have a discourse with you. As a Christian I can no longer read your books, nor subject my mind to the filthy language , and stay with the Christian Bookwriters and those who do not use such objectional trash. I suggest for you Bible books of John & Corinthians. I pray God to change your mind ,soul, tongue and pen. God be with & in you!
This book is nonstop action from start to finish. It opens in Pittsburgh with an apparent terrorists attack on Chinese dissidents who just concluded their oaths to become American citizens. The why and how are not clear, but the trail starts with a human smuggling ring. Trapp is sent to Nigeria where they complete that task, in true Trapp fashion, and now know that following the money is their best bet. They head for London and are met with whiplash inducing action. MI5 assumes Trapp and company are rogue agents. Billionaires run amok and high ranking Chinese nationals want him stopped at any cost. Trapp picks up a few new assets in Shock Wave that I’d love seeing in recurring roles. They make a cohesive team that compliment each other’s strengths and are so much fun to read!
I be missed Jason Trapp! This was worth waiting for. A fast paced story that keeps you flipping pages. Trapp is looking for a weapon which he can’t be sure of. Following many trails and piecing things together on the fly , he and Madison and a couple awesome accomplices jump from Africa to England and Taiwan to mount a heroic effort to stop crazy people and possibly WWIII! Such a wild ride right to the end! Lots of action and espionage Trapp will rise to the occasion. Loved loved loved it!
Sorry... Whilst I have read and loved all previous books in the series, this was science fiction with microwave ray guns.... I do not read science fiction... To me the book is a sad decline.... And technical inaccuracies... Just one being the explosion of an underground fuel tank caused by a surface fire of fuel spurting from a fractured submersible pump delivery line... That just will not happen!!! The buried tank would never explode under those conditions.
Great Trapp story in his Slater's continuing series . Jason is on the hunt for a bio weapon that has the capability of killing crowds with a single exposure. Non stop action with a horrifyingly realistic scenario. Good, strongly defined characters both familiar and new. Riveting and thrilling reading as is the case with other Slater tales. Ready for the next one.
This series is full of action, mystery, suspense, complex story lines, intriguing characters, humor, and lots of crazy antics, usually performed by Jason Trapp himself. Lol! I was hooked from the start, and always left wanting more when the books end. If you're looking for a fantastic thriller series, I would highly recommend reading this series. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Non-stop action as Jason Trapp and Madison Grubbs, CIA operatives, chase clues from the raw earth mineral mines in Africa to a confrontation in Great Britan all the while battling Chinese forces for potential world supremacy. The relevancy of this thriller makes the action even more meaningful. I received an ARC from the author and the opinions expressed are my own.
Not sure this was one of the better Jason Trapp books... seemed a little out there, story-wise, and the characters, not always developed, kept disappearing and then reappearing. There would be activity in the "background" and we'd just have to read that something important happened between the pages... Jack, just keep loving your baby and try not to write when that should be your priority!
Jack Slater is top notch in this book, one of the best writers in this genre I've ever encountered. Jason Trapp is my favorite character, but all of his characters are well written. I binge read Shock Wave in one night. I just couldn't put it down.
Finished!!! Love the Jason Trapp series. Before going back to book 5 of my last series, book 97 is out of the children of the gods. That’s my favorite series so reading that next 😀. The life of a retiree 😀
This Jason Trapp book was beyond Thrilling from cover to cover! The storyline was unexpected and very well written. I love Jason and look forward to the next one.
So once again Jason is called on to unravel a mess but this time it’s China and he is teamed with Madison. This is a real page turner, something exciting on each and every page.
Another good Trapp thriller. Hard to keep it fresh when you are 10 books deep but story was entertaining. Not in a can't put down way, but you did want to finish the ride.
Jack Slater is a great writer. His books are well written with a keen understanding of what he is writing about. Once you start reading his books you cannot wait to read the next book.
As usual this was a tight, well written and edited novel from Jack Slater. Jason Trapp demonstrates a balance of larger-than -life characters that also have flaws and sometimes fail to win the day.
I really enjoy Jason Trapp's adventures and missions. Bluntly this mission for me didn't move any excitement needles. It felt like a chore at times. I'll continue to read future missions as the overarching narrative keeps expanding with the Chinese.
On a fact finding mission that quickly turns into an actual active threat to the US that needs an immediate response;!! Jason is thrown into another mission on his own with our back up or a net of security. Just the way he likes it.
Jason is confronted with a very dangerous new weapon. He has to go deep to fight it and save the world from a very nasty scenario. Real page turner, highly recommended
I've like the Jason trap ever since the first book came out. This was without a doubt the best one I've ever read. I can't wait to see where the next book takes Jason.
