Rate this book
They called her the Pirate Queen.
She is the exiled royalty from a planet of breeders, a species raided and trafficked for their ability to produce children out of a reproductive cycle. Rumor has it that she slit the throat of the man who tried to touch her.

He's a human genius studying antibodies and contraceptive science.
Kidnapped from his planet eight years ago, he was locked in an underground lab of the breeder planet, where he worked tirelessly to create a contraceptive to free an entire race.

But the enemy found his lab, and he needs the help of the Pirate Queen to save the species that exiled her, that shunned her for fighting for her right to make choices over her own body.

In a race against time, a space pirate and a scientist must work together to save a planet, while fighting the growing feelings they're developing for each other.

Previously included in the Dangerous Tides Kickstarter and titles 'To Plunder a Pirate Queen.' This edition includes a bonus scene and bonus epilogue.

This book was incredibly ambitious, as women’s reproductive rights were a major theme, and I’m really glad I read it.

Super interesting premise: the FMC is exiled Shukra royalty, an alien race of “breeders” trafficked for their ability to produce children. The MMC is a human scientist who is kidnapped and locked in an underground lab to create a contraceptive that will free the Shukra people.

I enjoyed the story once I got past the first couple of chapters, where I wasn’t even sure who the main characters were! You also have to be comfortable with the main characters having sex with side characters (if it helps, the smutty scenes were all 🥵).

I’m very intrigued by the next book in the series, which looks even darker and more intense. 👀

Nina Saxena!!!!! I am in love!!!! Keep it coming with the horny aliens, gender depictions, and scathing commentary about reproductive rights. I ate it up!!!!!

Vahman is a brilliant human scientist who is abducted for his research into antibody based contraception. He's held hostage on an alien planet for 7 years perfecting his formula. Now it finally works. Unfortunately, the secret lab he's been working on is discovered by the big bad and he's been sent on the run by the very alien who kidnapped him. (They became friends.) He's on a mission to find her exiled sister and get back to earth.

Shila, the Pirate Queen, is the exiled sister. She's part of an alien race who is part of a category called "breeders." These are creatures who can bear children. The race oppressing them are a category called "seeders." They can impregnate breeders. Seeder species will basically enslave and impregnate against their will breeder populations. (There are also "omnis" who procreate with themselves.) Shila had an "arranged marriage" and when her betrothed assaulted her she killed him. Because she fought back she was exiled. From afar she's been funding an on planet rebellion. She just wishes she could save her sister.

Shila agrees to help Vahman get home after he proves his contraception works. She says Vahman must be the breeder to test it with. Him screwing a crew member of hers, is in fact not the first sex scene in this book. There's so much spice!!!! So they have to stay together for 3 more days until a pregnancy test can be taken.

Shila and Vahman are drawn to each other. They banter. They connect. They respect each other. One of my favorite things about Vahman is that even when he disagrees with Shila, he never contradicts her in public or in front of her crew. He understands not to undermine her authority. But when the door is closed, he's secure enough the share his true feelings.

There's action. There's steam. There social commentary. There's racial diversity. Give. Us. More!!!!!

To Plunder a Pirate Queen now titled The Pirate Queen. I really love this story. I think it’s my first book with more than two alien species, so it was very exciting to learn about similar and non-similar appendages. I also loved spending more time on Atlantis, seeing it through different characters’ eyes and exploring new parts of the island. Shila and Vahman’s relationship starts out with them being overly wary of each other but also very attracted to each other so they’re equal parts combative and flirty with a dash of sarcasm. I loved the sci-fi science of the contraceptive (and spaceship) and how it can help not only her species but others in the universe. Shila and Vahman are so self-sacrificing it’s almost a competition between them sacrificing themselves for the other but the end is so satisfying. Looking forward to another book in this series.

I wanted to like this so badly. But, it just fell flat and felt misplaced alongside the other books in this kickstarter. There was unbelievable instalove, too many side characters, and the political machinations were much too complex to be truly enjoyable for me. I am tentatively looking forward to the sequel to this book though.

I love a world that is unlike our own. Ready to travel to another planet? To take back your planet and maybe find some love along that way? A short story that will keep you wanting to know more. I cannot wait to read Prita’s story.

I’m honestly shocked by how much I enjoyed this smutty little book. It really speaks to so many concerns/challenges for breeders (read: women) today and science saves the day…incredible.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one honestly. Some aspects were interesting (like having alien woman x human man) but some grated me (like the epilogue)
