Writing Hammered has been a 10-year journey for Dru Hammer.
In this book, Dru shares never-before-told details about what it was like marrying into the Dr. Armand Hammer dynasty. She writes exclusively about the emotional pain she endured through a difficult divorce and how she came through it as a more faith-filled person. For the first time ever, Dru shares intimate and anecdotal stories about mingling with world leaders and royalty, the importance of financial independence for all women, and how cancel culture ultimately brought her family back together. Dru writes about her rock bottom moments because she hopes her readers will find themselves in her story or benefit from what she survived.
“I now understand why this book has taken a decade to finish. God waited until I had more to say about how He ‘turns ashes to beauty’ before this book could be completed.”
I was reminded of my personal faith, ever page from start to finish. I follow Cathy Lee and saw where she promoted this book. Thank you Dru for being a strong advocate of our Christian faith.
Oof! She needs a better editor. Lots of memories didn’t line up as factual for me. I was looking for more details in many of her life events. She doesn’t owe me deep details but if you’re going to write a book?!? It was just a superficial stream of consciousness. I will stop there.
Knowing absolutely nothing about Dru Hammer I dived into this book and was not disappointed. Her love for Jesus is ‘hammered’ into every page. I loved the prayer points at the end of the chapters and you can clearly hear Dru’s voice in her writing as clearly as if she were sitting right next to you. This is a book not only telling her life story but it’s also a book of hope for those going through dark times. Enjoy 😊
I picked this one up as Kathi Lee Gifford recommended it on her Instagram page, but I did not care for it. It's about her divorce, and hit home since I have two friends going through divorces right now. Her faith is strong, but even that was a bit weird for me as I do not understand the Pentecostal point of view. This one just wasn't for me!
Her words ring true of real life in a relationship with Our Savior, Jesus Christ. Love for her family and others comes through. I pray my faith is used for healing of others in ways only God can know. Double portion please, Father🙌🏻🙏🏻❤️
