All That Matters

Emotion: All That Matters

Rate this book
Despite decades of debate, psychologists are still undecided on what exactly emotion is. This book will help students and general readers to explore emotion and reach their own conclusions. The fascinating, and sometimes controversial, topics covered include what emotions actually are, how they are portrayed and recognised, why negative emotions arise and how they can be managed, whether emotion can be effectively faked or hidden, and how emotions affect decision-making. A final chapter, 'The route to happiness', discusses the most sought-after emotion of all, and asks how the research around emotion can be applied practically.

This feels like something I'd be forced to read in high school after getting detention for doing something small, insignificant, and/or naughty. Control your emotions. Emotions. E-motional. Shy people have a lot working against them. Learn to regulate your emotions. Fuck this book LOL. I had another from this All That Matters series, on futures studies. These are useful as a quick primer but are not that useful beyond that.

This book examines human emotions.

I found this book fascinating and thought provoking in places – I believe it helped me understand people’s emotional reactions better.
