Evelyn Puerto writes a remarkable sequel with The Girl Who Wrote on Water

In The Girl Who Wrote on Water, the reader is introduced to Princess Derya, who is fearing that her friend, Princess Eliania is dead. The Girl Who Wrote on Water is part of the Royal Mages series, and this is volume two. I am a big fan of Evelyn Puerto and read whatever this author writes. This author has a grand imagination, and talent for showing the story. Evelyn is great at building a world of fantasy and magic and bringing royalty to life. It's on now, the race to find the scepter is a quest Derya needs to take, and win, before it falls into the wrong hands. Evelyn Puerto has a great imagination. The plot is action packed, filled with truths, lies, secrets and curses. This story is grand read, and the characters have multiple layers. The Girl Who Wrote on Water is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. This was another awesome book by one of my favorite authors. She writes the BEST female main characters. They are relatable, authentic and always someone you root for. The story is fantastic and well developed. The character development makes you want to know more about each and every character. I loved the adventure and excitement of this story. And the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, in the sense that you will want to know what happens next, but it is perfect. The book couldn’t have ended any other way.
Highly recommend to all readers who enjoy strong female characters, great supporting characters, adventure and magic.

The second book in The Royal Mages series continues the adventures of Derya and Eliana as they fight against Cetus, the evil supernatural being who wants to take over their world. The story picks up after the cataclysm which Eliana and Adakizh caused when they broke the dark. The first book was mainly Eliana’s story, and this book follows Derya more closely. Derya learns how to more effectively use her water magic as she fights outlaws, wyverns, a dragon, and shadowy characters who try to cheat or even kill her. I was on the edge of my seat through her many harrowing adventures.

I really enjoyed the continuation of the fight against the evil sorcerer Cetus. This book focuses on Derya princess of Cinar as she rises to the challenges set before her and becomes the hier that Cinar needs. I really enjoyed her personal journey as she learns to become a leader in truth and not by right. The twists and turns in the story are well crafted and the action is relentless. Couldn’t put it down.

No one can trust anyone, not even those they thought they could. This seems to be the case for all of the characters.

I love that we got to see more of Derya in this book! And that we got so much growth from both of our girls!! I was sad that was didn’t get much development between Eliana and Adakizh. I understand why he was upset with her, but it was frustrating how Eliana let him talk to her sometimes. I look forward to seeing how they resolve their issues. I also liked the hints of romance for our Derya.

Like book 1, this book really speeds up more towards the end. I had a hard time wanting to pick up my read, but when I did, I didn’t want to put it down! I’m excited for the next.

I was hooked from the start as this sequel carries on from almost exactly where The Girl Who Broke The Dark ends. I love the shifting perspectives between the two main characters and how well each shift compliments the other story and keeps the reader hooked! Gutted that book 3 won’t be out for a while as I am so desperate to finish reading to find out what will happen next!!

I love, love, love strong women who fight dragons and ice giants and, along the way learn valuable lessons about trust and being true to themselves! I highly recommend this series. I can't wait for more!

Loved his book. Like the first one, I could not put it down. I love reading about the princesses and can't wait for the next books to find out what happens next.
