There I Find Rest:
This book starts immediately after the last book in the Blueberry Beach series and our heroine featured prominently in the last book Tender Mercies. I’d recommend reading that entire series, but definitely at least that last book. It gives even more background and depth to our heroine. I liked this second chance, new start romance. The introduction of side characters I know we’ll see more of. Of course, seeing my daughter’s name and nickname in print was pretty special to me. This book had some definite heart tug times. I found myself swirling back through memories of my pregnancy and after. I am very curious to follow the story of the children introduced too!
There I Find Peace:
This was a romance that really gave a look at children from broken families and how they feel. It tugs at your heart. Not what God intended, but you can’t change other people. I appreciated all of the good lessons within: choosing happiness, living for God and not others, and more. I’m excited to see where this series goes, especially for our “brother/sister” working pair.
There I Find Love:
I adored how this book started! The grumpy boss and free spirited employee held a great dynamic. I did not want to put it down. I also loved getting more depth about the teenager Becky hanging around Strawberry Sands. I love these side stories that develop throughout the series. There was a great small town dynamic and the fact that repentance necessitates changed action.
There I Find Joy:
I enjoyed this marriage of convenience romance. Longtime enemies from childhood work for best interests of a couple children. I liked how dedicated this book was to Becky. I always appreciate the emphasis on choice over feeling and on following God’s prompting. He sacrificed everything for us, what are we sacrificing for Him?
There I Find Trust:
I loved this book. We’ve been waiting for Chi and Griff to have their own HEA since the first book of this series. I adored all of the lessons on love and selfishness held within these pages. It’s my favorite of the series so far! I also adored getting more on Becky and Rodney. Redemption from pasts, following God’s leading, and making choices to lead your heart. Truly a wonderful read.
There I Find Hope:
Oof. This book starts out very difficult for me. I am a mother of 3 and one of my top fears is one of my children drowning! So, this beginning hit my momma heart hard. It’s a hard truth as a Christian that one of the answers God gives is “no.” The dichotomy that we know our kids are better in the presence of God but we’d still rather them here with us. The trusting of God, but only up to the extent that He follows our desires… these are the things I’ve been wrestling with lately. What do we do when God allows trials and testing that go against our desires and opinions of what “good” is? Do we only trust Him when He follows our plans? Do we stick so firm in the Hope and promise of forever, that persecution and loss and pain in this life lose their hold on us? Do we find comfort in the fact that God will use everything for our good and His glory?
I love how Gussman always points us back to God and the Bible. You cannot read any of her books without them either confirming your faith or pricking your conscience. Often, they do both of those. Another incredible book.
There I Find Light:
This book definitely started out in a different way from these other book in the series. I read the blurb and I actually then went back to verify I had the right book. 😂 A kidnapping gone awry is definitely new. Especially in a Christian romance novel!
I appreciated our heroine’s struggle with anxiety. It’s been a part of my life at least as long as it was hers. And, as an adult, I too desire to keep mastery over it without the use of synthetic medications. I appreciate all that was said about God and control and our perspectives on things because it is all Right On. As Gussman always is. There’s a reason I look up so much to her and think so highly of her. Like, role model and who I aspire to be (if we’re talking outside of Jesus, of course). I always learn so much from her and her books and I’m always edified, confirmed, and challenged in my faith. I also liked the theme of true friendship and actions based on Christ’s character, rather than our feelings. Another lovely addition to this beachy series and I can’t wait to see where the next books will take us.
There I Find Patience:
I’ve always said “patience is a virtue I wasn’t born with.” Sometime in the past few years I heard a speaker say that no one is born with patience, it’s a learned attribute. That rightfully stung but forever reordered my thinking.
I love the points in this story about respecting parents (people) but how you also let the belittlement, etc., roll off you and you don’t take offense. How God‘s opinion is what is worth something, not other people’s.
Sometimes people won’t understand what you’re doing in life. They will say you are too young, you don’t have enough resources, you aren’t qualified, are you trying to populate the entire world yourselves, etc. etc. But, if you are where God calls you to be and within His will, there is no better place. No matter your financial, physical, emotional, mental status, if you are acting within God‘s will, He’s already taken that into account and told you to go forward.
I really enjoyed this best friends to more romance. It was sweet and real and had many good lessons and reminders about faith, family, and a Biblical view on things.
