When curvy witch Romi Weir buys the beloved Witch’s Brew Café in her enchanted hometown of Mystic Hollow, she’s ready to whip up some magic and mend the rift between witches and shifters. What she doesn’t expect is a side order of sabotage—or a cool, mouth-watering wolf shifter whose protective nature has Romi weak at the knees!
Xabir Lupo is no stranger to handling corporate threats, but when an explosive dark curse nearly takes down Romi, his fierce loyalty ignites a passion neither can ignore. As Romi’s café turns into a battleground of wild magic and sabotage, Xabir has his hands full with a fiery witch who's as stubborn as she is sweet, and enemies who want to destroy everything she's built.
Between steamy kitchen showdowns, daring duels against dark magic, and community chaos at the Mystic Market Food Fair, Romi finds herself falling hard for the alpha who not only defends her but makes her believe in a future filled with unity and love. Can a fearless witch and a protective wolf shifter transform rivalry into romance—and just how many magical disasters can one café handle before these two admit they're perfect for each other?
Get ready for a sizzling tale where magic meets muscle, and where true love might just be the secret ingredient to unite two worlds!
Milly Taiden (also writes as April Angel) was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean (to her) known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son and their little dog Speedy.
When she’s not working full-time, texting with her best friend Heidi in England, chastising her son for pulling the dog’s ears, shopping with her sister Jewel or watching scary movies with her husband, she can be found writing on her laptop.
She’s addicted to shoes, chocolate, Dunkin Donuts coffee and JIMMY THOMAS covers!!!
This book was unique, flowed well, and I really loved the descriptive details of the magic. I liked tbe small town aspect and the closeness of the characters from elders to children.
It was easy to picture the settings, the emotions, and the characters traits even when not explicitly stated. It was my first ARC and I am excited for this series to develop and continue. This review is completely voluntary and I definitely recommend adding this to your shelf.
Enchanting the Alpha begins the Mystic Hollow series with Romi and Xabir’s sizzling romance, and starts off this series with a story that captivated me from start to finish.
Frankly, every time I start a new Milly Taiden series, I believe that it cannot be possible to outshine the previous one… and every single time, I’m proven wrong. While there is nothing wrong with her writing at all, it still seems to improve like fine wine over time, offering new nuances that I didn’t see or feel previously. Perhaps I’m fangirling here, but I do love her work… now, let’s get on with this review.
Romi has returned to Mystic Hollow to take over the local coffee shop, Witch’s Brew Café, once run by her cousin. She has so many ideas for not only the shop but also ways to bring shifters and witches of the community into a closer relationship. There is discord between the two sides, and Romi firmly believes that they can all work together for the benefit of their shared town and community. She’ll get some unexpected help from a local Alpha, Xabir, who also has the same desire for the community. Oh, and plus, Romi is his mate, so he has a definite purpose in working closely with this particular witch.
Unfortunately, there are those who would rather burn down the town than see shifters and witches live harmoniously side by side. One in particular is focusing their hatred directly on Romi with surprise attacks that grow alarmingly stronger with each attempt. Xabir will allow nothing, including members of his own pack, to harm Romi or their town. Together, they’ll work to discover who is behind the sabotage, while allowing their mate bond to develop and grow stronger.
I absolutely loved Enchanting the Alpha by Milly Taiden. Romi and Xabir are adorable, steamy, dedicated in their bond, and determined to protect what is theirs… including their town. There are other characters introduced that I cannot wait to discover their romances. If you love a shifter romance full of emotions, steam, intrigue, and danger, then you’d love this one.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
I loved the concept of this. Small town, fated mates, enemy trying to keep shifters and witches apart. I really liked the writing style, it was witty and easy to read. But other than that it unfortunately just fell flat. We never saw "the bad". They spend the whole book talking about how bad the segregation of witch and shifter life was but we never actually see it happening so we simply don't care about it. From the first time they meet suddenly all those problems seem to melt away and instantly people don't care about decades of hatred. The enemy in this is mentioned right away and I spent the whole book waiting for the plot twist, only for there not to be one. The person they think did it from the start is actually who did it? What kind of a writing is that?! And the romance? Honestly I shipped them because the town shipped them, it was the side characters that made me like them, nothing they did between them. There was a chemistry sure, but we don't find out anything about the MMCs history, his personal goals, his wants for the future. And the FMC gets a little more backstory but it's all info dumped in one chapter with no other explanation.
It was all just disappointing when I wanted to love it! I want to read from Milly Taiden again, cause as I said it was witty and I enjoyed the writing style and premise. But this book just felt underdeveloped and maybe 100 pages too short. It just needed less "community events", and spend more time focusing on the characters and their actions towards each other. And building a strong antagonist plotline
Original start to Mystic Hollow, Readers will be captivated by characters and the plot a riveting read Romi Weir returns to her home town and the much-loved Witch’s Brew Café which she takes over and wants to use to bring together the Shifters ant Witch’s who have stopped realising how much they need each other in this world, not everywhere is as accepting as Mystic Hollow and this fact seems to be being taken for granted!! When Xabir Lupo discovers that Romi and the little café that she has taken over has been targeted by a explosive dark curse his fierce loyalty ignites and neither of them are able to ignore the fact that they are mates but more importantly that someone is trying to sabotage the alliance between Witch’s and Shifters and Xabir and Romi will not be beaten. I guarantee that you will be blown away by the surprise behind the actual curse and why they are trying to harm Mystic Hollow. I guarantee that you will be like myself and will be waiting with bated breath for the next book in this wonderful series “Where Magic and Mayhem is a Way of Life”. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
I love when stories defy the norm. This story does that by pairing a witch and a shifter as mates. Romi is a local witch and cafe owner. Xabir is the alphd of the local wolf pack and the owner of a chain of hotels. These two entrepreneurs work together to better their buisnesses as well as bringing the local witches and shifters closer. Of course, you there will always be a hater who doesn't like change and will always fight to undermine it, so Romi and Xabir have even more to worry about than their buisnesses, pack/coven harmony, and their budding romance.
It all blends together seamlessly to make a fantastically entertaining story that did not disappoint. I had a blast reading it and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Romi and Xabir are a delightful couple. She is a witch who has recently returned to her hometown and purchased a café. Xabir is alpha of the local wolf pack and CEO of a hotel chain. These two don't have a chance once they lay eyes on each other. Together they work to bring witches and shifters closer together, while they literally do the same. But someone is not happy about all this witch - shifter harmony and is determined to put a stop to it. Can Xabir keep Romi safe? I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
I loved this book! Romi & Xabir make a cute couple. Romi is a witch that runs the Witch’s Brew Cafe and Xabir Alpha and CEO of the Lupo Hotel. Romi wants to bring Witch’s and Shifters together in Mystic Hollow but someone is using dark magic to stop that from happening. A book with romance, mischief, mayhem and suspense all together will keep you on your toes. Oh! I can’t forget Whiskers the cat who makes sparkling hearts appear when Romi & Xabir are in the room together. I received this free book for my review.

Enchanting the Alpha (Mystic Hollow Book 1) y Milly Taiden. Witch Romi returns to Mystic Hollow to run the Witch’s Brew Cafe, brimming with ideas to bring the towns witches and shifters together. When Xabir, the Alpha of the wolf pack meets Romi his wolf immediately sits up and says mate. Although Romi doesn’t know she is Xabir’s mate she feels a connection. As they put their plans together to bring the witches and shifters together they meet opposition from someone who will use black magic and murder to stop them.
An alpha wolf and a special witch meet when the young woman returns to Mystic Hollow to open her business and help her sister as well as bringing the community of witches p who have had nothing in common for over a century. The alpha Xabir realizes what some others in town sees before Romi. A story of good and evil magic, the characters are pretty interesting. I read z copy without obligation. I volunteered an honest review
Great start to this new series. Mystic Hollow is as magical as the name implies. But the divide between the town’s witches and shifters runs long and deep.
Romi and Xabir were the perfect couple to start bridging that gap, their alpha and witch magic harmonizing into something the rest of the town could admire rather than fear.
I look forward to more stories in this series and seeing more of the colorful characters that make up this magical town.
I liked the story however I found the wielding of magic to be quite different. I liked when they all got together that was fun. I did not however understand why nothing was done when they found out the one shifter was using dark magic. Why let him go with no consequences the first time. It made zero sense. The cat/dragon was hilarious especially when he projected things.
Welcome to Mystic Hollow! Shifters and witches live in harmony....at least side by side, for the most part....Romi moved to town and opened her enchanted coffee shop. Delicious with just a hint of magic. But when someone decides that she and her shop are a target, Xabir, who happens by, steps up to help.....Witches and shifters. Who would have thought? But someone clearly is not happy.... Fabulous 1st book in a new series by Milly Taiden!
I loved this book! The town, the people are enchanting to say the least. This story and style of writing took me back to some of the author's earlier works. There was a buildup to the love story. Courting and wooing with some lovely danger mixed in. Excellent story and I can't wait for the next one.
Brilliant start to a new series can't wait to read more loved the characters and the storyline so it's a well deserved five stars and I would recommend this book to everyone
New series set in Mystic Hollow. Magic and enchantments surround this small town. A little on the slow burn side. The connection between Romy and Xabir is electrifying.
I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
If you like paranormal romance books, then look no further. With magic, action, and a wonderful familiar called Whiskers, this will have you on the edge of your seat and laughing all at once. I did receive this book as an ARC, but this is my honest review.
Just loving Millys take on her shifter romances, each one is special, as is the first of this series. Filled with fun and laughter, good and evil, but always with a hea. Can't get enough of her writings.
Pros-cozy romantic fantasy, light read set in a cute town with a magical cafe, and of course of protective and possessive shifter.
Cons-1) So many words and phrases were repeated way too many times. If I had to read "alpha energy, sparkling magic, eyes dancing with mischief, knowing looks" one more time I was going to scream. 2) This town seemed obsessed with protective enchantments (constantly reading how they kept needing to put them up) even though it seemed to be a quiet peaceful-ish town even with the rivalry. 3) The cat familiar constantly creating smoke hearts was annoying. 4) There wasn't enough real everyday life moments. There always seemed to be some kind of event being planed whether it be a picnic or game night...I think there was one day where I actually read about her working and serving her costumers. It can still be a cozy read without all the constant "cute" events. Pick one or two and make them great and leave it at that. There just needed to be more balance. 5) Why was the librarian and everyone else coming to her about every problem going on? Like was she the new mayor in town or something? She's a powerful witch yes but she's just a cafe owner. There were even witch and shifter elders and yet they all came to her about all the mysteries and problems that were going on. I understand that as the main character she needs to be in the center of everything but seeing as she was simply a business owner it just didn't make sense. Plus, them constantly running to get info from library was actually annoying. Like, again, who is in charge here?
There are plenty of cozy reads out there and even though this story had its moments I don't see myself reading this one again.
