Abby and Eric’s story continues in this follow up to ESCAPE, A New Life.
Abby has put her past in the rearview mirror and carved out a life with Eric on an isolated island; their own personal slice of paradise. But after having her new life shaken to the core, Abby comes out of hiding to get her memory back and reunite with the part of herself she left behind – though nothing can prepare her for her forgotten sins and the dangerous men awaiting her return.
Coming out of their self-imposed exile, Abby and Eric embark on a journey to the other side of the world. They have a plan to reclaim a piece of her past and forever bury the secret location of their new life, creating a peaceful future for themselves.
Stalked on their journey by guardian angels and instruments of the devil alike, their plan comes to fruition, but at the ultimate cost. While she can run, Abby cannot escape her frightful past.
David J Antocci is a noted wordsmith, blogger and author. His work can be read regularly on the Worcester Telegram and Gazette website where he has spent many years writing about the trials and tribulations of being a real life Mr. Mom. While his first love is music, he has put down the guitar in recent years in order to pour his passion into writing… and the gentle tap of the keys on his laptop are much less disruptive late at night when the children are sleeping. The ESCAPE books are his first published foray into fiction. He lives in New England with his beautiful wife and children.
Number 2 in the series hit it out of the park again! Adventure, intrigue, suspense and twists & turns abound. OK, it’s not great literature, and the love story activates my gag-reflex, but the story is as entertaining as it gets! I’m looking for #3 right away.
NOTE to author: Invest in a good proofreader. There are way too many spelling and grammar errors to be passed off as mere typos.
Scary sequel . Abby is told Bryce is dead . She agrees to regain her memories , which are dark . She is committed to Eric and wants to remain with him , however there is an errand she needs to do . Typos again
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
This is a continuation to Escape: A New Life. I loved it.
Abby is a fantastic character. She is a survivor of a grueling competition that saw her fighting for her life. I really liked her and was very happy that she survived, but her life is about to be turned upside down once again.
Eric is also a fantastic character. He has a strength of will and determination that I really liked. He has a sense of honour and duty, and even though danger threatens, he really loves Abby and will protect her with his life.
This is a fantastic continuation of Abby and Eric's story, and begins right where the first book finished. The action starts right from the start and has a lot of twists and turns that kept me hooked and turning the pages! I liked meeting Ben. He is a wonderful young boy and friend to both Abby and Eric. The story is told not only from Abby and Eric's point of view, but there are other characters that have their say. This gave the book a movie feel, as it gave the reader the chance to see what was happening outside of Abby and Eric's sight. A sinister appearance, or should I say reappearance, of Abby's husband brings danger back into their lives. A deadly cat and mouse game ensues, and the danger escalates to a gripping climax. This story had me on a roller coaster of emotion: happiness, anxiety, anger, sadness and a few other mixed emotions. However, near the end is a HUGE twist that I did not see coming and I was in complete shock and horror because of it. I am now looking forward to finding out what happens next!
David Antocci has written an exciting follow up to his debut novel. This author is definitely one to watch! I love his writing style which is fast paced and extremely fluid. I have added him to my favourite authors list!
I highly recommend this book if you love thrillers, suspense and/or dystopian fiction or are fans of The Hunger Games Trilogy. - Lynn Worton
I am truly torn about rating this book. Firstly, I love Abby and Eric. Also, the suspense is enough to propel the reader into anxiously devouring the book. But, I'm just done.
Spoilers from now on. I really don't care enough about Ava to continue this series. Now that Eric is dead, I don't really care anymore. This is some Game of Thrones level killing. Why would the author take away one of the two beloved main characters? I can't get behind it.
I started reading a series about a couple on an island who didn't know why they were there. At this point, we are so far beyond that initial premise, that it simply is a completely different story than the one I enjoyed in the first book. Unfortunately, I can't get into the new story. If I wanted to read a novel about a battered wife's vigilante justice for her daughter, I would pick up a book with that description. Based on the first book, this should not have become that story.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
All too frequently serial stories lose some momentum after the initial tale that hooks your interest. Although the level of intrigue may not be quite as high in this story because most of the big background info has already been revealed the plot line is just as exciting and intriguing although far more emotional!! It's heartwarming and heartbreaking...everyone's fantasy of the perfect love and one of the greatest tragedies anyone can suffer all rolled into one helluva story! I can't wait another minute...onto the conclusion!!! My thirst for justice is strong after taking this ride with Abby and Eric and I can't stop now!
Loved it! Action starts right away and keeps you enthralled throughout the entire book. I did have to ding it a 1/2 star due to a scene in the book, but not giving any spoilers away. Spent Saturday reading the first book and Sunday on this one. Needless to say, I did not get anything else done! But they were that good in my opinion. (Didn't have anything else planned anyway). Bummed I have to wait a month and a half for the last installment!!
Escape, Past Sins by David Antocci couldn't start soon enough for me since I positively chewed through his first book, Escape, A New Life. This second book did not disappoint and continued to be full of David's fast paced twists and turns. He moves quickly, but makes sure to bring the reader along through the plot as it unfolds. Another delightful read!
Abby awakens in the middle of nowhere and saves a man during a storm. Neither know why or how they got there. The book takes you on a journey of survival, murder and lost memories through to book 2 and 3 where Abby's world becomes unlocked and she has to fight for her life to rid herself of a horrific past. A good roller coaster of a ride which is best read back to back.
I read this in less than a day, it was action packed, great story, and even thought I had guessed what a mystery was, I didn't see the ending in this at all. Kudos for the creativity. I've already purchased the 3rd one. Very creative.
The adrenaline level of Past Sin is how Antocci keeps you as a reading marveling throughout the chapters of Past Sins wanting and needing more even at the very end "Dead End" purchase have to know how he will end the Escape.
The second of this series and the characters come over from the 1st novel and they probably should be read in order, because the plot line in one books picks right up where the previous book left off. This is a tale of survival and the will to live, spellbinding.
It is 7:30 am. I just read all night to finish this book and immediately ordered the next in the series. I VERY RARELY order books that I have to pay for. These were just too good to miss. I highly recommend them.
The second of the trilogy finds Abby confronting her past life and reconnecting with her daughter, Ava. Lots of action and beautiful scenery descriptions.
