I loved this book! Highly anticipating with a hell lot to unpack. (That sometimes I thought it was too much and my poor brain was surely overworked to the fullest.) The main characters were packed full with a lot of charms, the plot was highly entertaining and full of surprises, the pace was a bit slow but I was fine with it. But one thing is for sure, this book was really well-written and the translation was really goood. The language was beautiful and easy to understand.
There were some parts where I thought were a bit too slow for my liking but then again, since there was a lot to unpack, it was kinda necessary, I think? I don't know if it was me or the story, but I found some parts a bit challenging to follow. Like there were times when I didn't know what was what to the point that I had to go back and tried to understand everything again, and still came up with absolutely no idea what was going on. But that could also be because I rarely read books in Thai nowadays. Lol. I'm dumb ok i think thats on me. I adored the main characters. At first, I thought Sang Chiyu was going to be a bit bland with his personalities and stuff, but I was proven wrong. He had this childish personality and this cute innocent side of him that went so well with his cold and unbothered demeanour. And I adored it very, very much. 100 extra points for him having a cat as his demon form as well. Cause that was truly something else. I can't even begin to explain how much I loved reading the parts where he was a cat. Urgh. SOOOO CUTE. Su Ruhui was funny as hell. Him and the 'system' inside his head were surely the stars of the show. I loved, loved the fact that while he was portrayed as someone lively, someone so lovable by every single being around him, he secretly had this inferiority complex about him and I think that was quite a simple but good way of adding the depth to his character. They both reminded me of Lan Zhan and Wei Ying, but for me personally, I loved Chiyu and Ruhui, much much more. Their past was so adorable I can't. I can't wait to read the next book and find out more about everything. Especially the system. I so much want there to be more to it cause it was random as hell. Like what the fuck are you? A God? I will be so angry if it's just some random shit used as a plot device but I have faith in this story, and this author so I'm gonna hold myself back for now. And I can't lie. 90% of the time, it was the sole reason why I laughed out loud. LOL.
But I gotta say, this book had a bit of a slow start. But then again, as I said before, I think it was kinda necessary with how much this book needed to unpack. But once I got hooked, oh man I WAS HOOOOOOKED. Good soup, good soup. (I liked Chiyu's shifu. I loved him. I love my man old and oh boi was he olllllllld.)
