Such a thing happened in this book. A favourite lost button vanishes and the adorable little girl searches the whole house trying to recover it so her button collection on her favourite sweater can be complete once again. Alas she was unable to find the rogue fastener. Her dad, realizing the importance of that special button to his daughter, whisks her off to the local button store where she browses through hundreds of button cards until she finds a perfect replacement. Will her lost button ever turn up? Where could it have disappeared to? Should she just give up the search and be happy with her new substitute? What would you do? One thing you should do is to read this wonderful story to find out if indeed the little girl succeeds in her mission and if the end result brings a smile to her face and contentment to her heart.
A Button Story by Emil Sher is an adorable children’s book. It is the story of a little girl who has lost a button off her sweater and looks all over the house for it. When she cannot find it, she is taken to a button store to find a new one. After she gets back home, she finds the missing button and is very happy, because now she has a “button friend”.
The story is told in simple sentences that would be very easy for a young reader to understand. The illustrations are bright and vibrant and are a perfect match for the text. The illustrator, Cindy Revell, did a great job. There are so many different buttons illustrated and children can talk about the shapes and colors of all the varieties of buttons. This is an added bonus in my opinion.
I would recommend this children’s book to all adults who love to read cute, well illustrated books to their children. This book would make a great addition to a daycare or family library.

**When I was little my Mom had a box full of colorful buttons. The box was full of big and small buttons, glass and plastic and oh so many colorful buttons too. My sisters and I used to play with them. We'd play grocery store and the buttons were our money. Reading this story brought back some fun memories.
Gorgeous and vibrant illustrations! There were fun little details on each page. When I was young, I loved to run my fingers through the button tin. I loved sorting them and finding the interesting details on old buttons. This is something the next few generations probably won't experience. However, even though I have young boys, I made sure to find and create a box full of fantastic buttons. They love them! Hopefully this book brings up these memories for you too.
