When madness catches fire, no one is safe.

FBI Special Agent Journey Russo is closer than ever to cracking open the cult responsible for the house fire that killed her parents when she was thirteen. But instead of finally extinguishing the smoldering embers of the memories that have haunted her for the past twenty years, Journey’s assigned a new case.

One that propels her from the frying pan into fire. Literally.

The patient of a local psychiatric hospital burned his house down—with him in it—the same day he was discharged. An oddly typed suicide note is found outside his house. Stranger still are the identical deaths of two other patients from the same hospital, making Journey believe this is no coincidence. It’s the work of a killer. Could it be a medical professional who, instead of healing their patients, is murdering them in the most horrific way and making it look self-inflicted?

The heat is on to find who's responsible before they strike again. And Journey must face her own worst nightmare or the investigation...and more victims...will go up in flames.

Starting with a slow burn, Journey’s Fire, book five of the Journey Russo FBI series by bestselling author Mary Stone, will consume you like fire on gasoline.

JOURNEY’S FIRE is the fifth installment to Mary Stone's and Amy Wilson's newest series, Journey Russo FBI Mystery Series. This series is thrilling and a chilling page turner that you have come to expect from a Mary Stone book that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

FBI agents, Journey and her partner Lucas have a high-ranking member of The Chosen cult in the interrogation room now's the chance to get the information needed to take down the entire cult. Suddenly, she and her partner Lucas are reassigned to a potential serial murder case. People are dying by fire in their home less than 24 hours after being released from psychiatric care. Could this be suicide or murder?  This case will bring Journey's childhood trauma back to her, as her parents also died in their home by fire and she couldn't save them. Will Journey and Lucas be able to solve these suicides before another fiery death?  It's not going to help that Lucas has his own trauma and guilt to overcome before he can help solve the case.

Don't miss this amazing story by Mary Stone and Amy Wilson. Fast paced with twists and turns that will not disappoint.

I received a copy of this book from the authors and this is my freely given and honest review. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more in this series.

Journey and Lucas are asked to help in solving a local suicide with some strange background information. It appears that a patient at the local psychiatric ward was deemed well enough to go home, but several hours later he was dead by what appears to be suicide, but was it really? And how did he start the fire?
When a second patient from the same hospital is released and found dead in the same manor the team is sure there is more to this .
While investigating Journey is haunted by the fact that most of her family was killed in a house fire and Lucas recently found that an old friend of his committed suicide, so these deaths are hitting home for both of them.
Very fast paced and suspected killers are turning up dead… .

It's great to catch up with the two FBI agents as I watch it all through a book and see in my mind. Journey and Lucas FBI agents who are partners have been on a few cases and work really well together.
A new case came up and they went to help in the case of Suicides or assisted suicides. Both come with their own unique questions. Now to find out who could be involved that worked in the psychiatric floor of a specialty hospital.
Why would someone released that day commit suicide? The list of Employees is long, but possibly, not long enough.
I really was glad to get back into Journey's struggles and Lucas's changes in his life.
You will enjoy reading Journey Russo's Series.

Journey's Fire

Psychiatric patients are reportedly committing suicide by settling themselves on fire the same day they are discharged. Lucas and Journey are on the case when called in by the Steele Park Sheriff's Department. The FBI feels this is suspicious also. Lucas finds out a Navy buddy committed suicide and Journey has her history with fire. They narrow down the suspects to 3 nurses and a doctor. They caught their girl trying to light herself up and the hospital along with her to help people end their pain. Journey finds out who killed her family. Great story. Some of these villains are sadistic!

This book starts with an immediate rush into murder. How very sad that individuals who seek help for mental issues are targeted by one who is supposed to help them. In a misguided fashion the murderer believes they are releasing their victims from their pain. Twisted does not quite cover the motivation of the killer. And both Journey and Lucas must face some demons of their own as they dig deeper into the case. There're a few false leads that may take you off the trail, but the finish is great.

we all have our demons….

A set of homicides, all deaths occurring hours after being released from a psychiatric hospital, are classed as suicides until the peculiar happenstance of all the deaths were former patients of the same hospital, the same doctor, and the same support staff, come to the attention of authorities.

Exciting

Is it murder or suicide? Can't be suicide. Who would start themselves on fire? They were just released from the hospital, had plans for the future whether it was one day at a time or ten years pin advance. No evidence., too many suspects. Who? Why? How? Great story. Thank you.

FBI Special Agent Journey Russo hates fires! So, of course, she & her partner get assigned a case of psychiatric patients’ murders designed to look like suicides. Could things get any worse? Hold onto the edge of your seat & start turning pages. You won’t be able to stop until the end!

arsenal of death

Another riveting storyline about murder, arson and despicable bad guys. The pursuit of The Chosen continues without resolution, but I can almost feel it beginning an end phase—maybe not quite yet though.

Fast paced

Another "edge of your seat" thrill ride. More of the main character's demons come out and makes the hunt for criminals a little harder. Nonwithstanding those issues it helps in the apprehension and gives reader a deeper insight in main characters.

good book

Is it arson, suicide, or a serial killer? People are found burnt to death in their homes several hours after being released from a hospital where they had checked themselves in for wanting to commit suicide.

How to keep things well hidden in a psychiatric hospital!

Great read. Journey & Lucas are given a case that they may not be able to solve. They won't give up and are getting the job done. The characters are great and keeping each other guessing but it all comes to a head.

Who Was Responsible?

This was an interesting story which was also very complex because of the individuals being killed. Finding the killer took time and was a mystery due to the number of people who could be responsible. Didn't figure out until the end. Well written book.

Journey and Lucas are tasked with helping a small town’s police tracking down a possible arsonist/serial killer. At least three people, more like four, have been murdered by fire on the day they are released from the local psychiatric hospital. It up to Journey & Lucas to find out who, end stop them. Can they before they strike again?
