Comfortable and Familiar: an Anthology
After eleventy million years, H. Bentham has finally (finally!) compiled together two of his favorite short stories about finding love and romance — with a bit of spice on the side as a little treat!
In Guide for A Day, a vacationing city boy asks a local provincial lad for a tour around town, and they spend the day together in comfortable ease, discovering and exploring more than just the beauty and rich history of Sancho de Guerra.
In The Other Story, a bored twenty something inadvertently stumbles upon a connection that proves to be hotter and far more meaningful than all the fun one usually pursues in the familiar halls of a ‘men’s spa’.
Along with these are some love poems from Signed, B, plus a brand-new piece that has never been published before.

Full disclosure: one of the stories included in this anthology previously appeared in Start Here, a collection of short stories that I edited. I also am friends with the #romanceclass people so make of that what you will.
H. Bentham's Comfortable and Familiar is a short and sweet and spicy read that anyone can easily digest in one sitting. Made up of two poems -- "When I Think of You" and "Comfortable and Familiar" -- and two short stories -- "Guide for a Day" and "The Other Story" -- one could think of this anthology as a small sampling of Bentham's work.
There's the sweet side that's on display in "Guide for a Day" and "When I Think of You". And then there's the spicier stuff in "The Other Story" and "Comfortable and Familiar". And this is definitely my personal bias speaking but I think "The Other Story" --the story that appeared on Start Here -- is the strongest piece in the bunch.
I really feel like "The Other Story" shows how different queer life and queer meet-cutes are here in the country. Yes, straight couples are getting freakier here now as well but for the most part, this is still very much the domain of local queers. And yet even with that difference, you can still have that happy ending for yourself if you want it.
