Except, this isn’t just any circus—it’s Oddity Carnival, reputed to be the most horrifying spectacle in the States. As evil as this carnival may be, where illusions intertwine with shadows, the essence of who we are remains incomparable, defying the delirium that surrounds us.

Edit: FYI rating a dark romance 1 star doesn't mean that i can't take unhinged stuff or that i got traumatized. Sorry to say but i was laughing the whole time and ik some people are like why are you talkin abt the sanitary stuff you knew it was unhinged lmaooo bro idgaf they can do it in sewage for all i care and the reason i don't care is bcz they didn't give me any reason. If there was a good romance I would've def enjoyed it I felt no chemistry bw them just f*cking doesn't mean they have chemistry at least for me it doesn't, moreover their back story had sm potential but the author hurried everything (except smut) the plot was executed so poorly like literally in a few pgs at the very end and to top it off i think there were only 2 of his dialogues i found not-cringe-worthy.

As soon as I started this, I was hooked, and it was definitely all that I was hoping for. Throw in creepy assed clowns and a secret society and I was in my happy place devouring this like my last breath depended on it.

This is one circus you never want to step into after hours..

Once Hell clapped eyes on Noir he became a man obsessed and nothing and no one would stand in his way of claiming her. Noir was totally unexpected, she escaped one psychopath only to land in anothers, she sought work as a dancer at the 'Oddity Carnival & Cirque' where she knew she could stay hidden. Hell is one morally unhinged pitch dark character, a programmed natural born killer and kills without remorse, if they have landed in his lap then its his job to obliterate them from this earth especially if they had gone against the society.

After reading this I really want to read whatever else this new to me author has written. This ticked so many boxes, the twists and turns just kept on coming, the boys will grab you by the throat and not let go because these boys thrive in the darkness.

My minimum requirement for any book is entertainment. I was honestly so bored and didn't care for either of the characters. I'm okay with smut but at least back it up with plot. 50% in and it was just them doing it in very depraved ways😅

To be clear, I knew this was going to be insane based on the triggers and that didn't matter to me. I was just bored 😓

If you're a trigger checker, definitely check prior to reading because this book is chock full of them.

This book was disgustingly brilliant.
It was dark, disturbing, psychotic, unhinged.. truly something else. My brain chemistry has been permanently changed.
And the spice? THE SPICE 😩 I’m done for, I will never be the same.


Brief overview:

🎪 The Cirque:
This book is set in a cirque like you have never read before.
Believe me … there is no cirque like this one. Its utterly horrific… I have no words.. utterly speechless

💀 The setup:
Noir is on the run from a truly despicable man .. the worst kind.
She ends up at the cirque, and from the moment Hell sees her, he is obsessed.
She’s his. That’s it. That’s the moment. End of discussion.

And then the stalking begins 🫣🤭 HOT DAMN! Their relationship is EVERYTHING!


💀 Hell (MMC):
There are possessive MMCs, and then there’s Hell. This man redefines unhinged.
Obsessed doesn’t even cover it! He worships, devours and is completely feral for his “little Dolly”.
I absolutely love him. He’s violent, protective, deranged, and utterly loyal to Noir and I am HERE FOR IT!

🎪 Noir (FMC):
Noir got me right in the feels 😩😩😩
Her past is gut-wrenching, her trauma deep but she’s fierce, twisted, and protective.
She’s just as unhinged and deprived as Hell and I found myself rooting for her every step of the way.
I wanted her to have everything she desired, no matter how dark and depraved it was!

💀 The side characters:
OBSESSED, ADORE, LOVE THEM. Every single one of them.
I need their books immediately!

🎪 The Author (Jodie King):

I have read 2 books by Jodie now and I’m a MASSIVE FAN! If she writes it I’m reading it!

Her writing is immersive and she pulls you into the madness. I love every second of it.

She’s brilliant. Full stop.

Final thoughts:
This book took time to mentally process. It is pitch black Horror emphasis on the horror and unapologetically so!
It delivers the kind of twisted, toxic HEA that is exactly what I crave.

I’ve read so many books that eventually blur together.
Not this one. This was is a full-on mindfuck and I loved every deranged moment.

I’ll be recommending this book forever.
It’s violent. It’s chaotic. It’s filthy. It’s unforgettable.

Guys…this book 😳

It was dark, twisted, unhinged—and I ate it up 🤌🏻

First off, Noir. She is everything. Strong, fearless, brutal, and so beautifully broken. Her character is written with such depth that you feel her trauma, her anger, and her pain in every page. She’s one of the darkest FMCs I’ve read, and I adored her complexity. She’s raw, unapologetic, and utterly captivating.

And Hell…where do I even start? This man is unhinged. His flags aren’t just red—they’re full-on obsidian black, babe. But somehow, you can’t help but love him. He’s utterly insane, but the way he loves Noir? It’s the kind of crazy, obsessive devotion that makes you giddy and has you kicking your feet. He’s the perfect storm of chaos and love, and their dynamic is fire.

This book completely enveloped me. But let me just say—CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS. This isn’t just dark; it’s pitch black, and it doesn’t hold back.

The vibe King created with the creepy circus setting was immaculate. It was haunting, atmospheric, and set the tone for everything else in the story. The plot flowed effortlessly, pulling you in and keeping you captivated from start to finish.

If I could change one thing, I would have loved to see Noir take care of Kyro herself, delivering the ultimate end to his terror. But in a way, she did have her hand in it, and it still made for a satisfying conclusion to his story.

This book is not for the faint of heart—it’s dark, twisted, and deeply unhinged. But if you’re ready to dive into the abyss and lose yourself in a story that’s as haunting as it is beautiful, this one is a must-read. I’m still reeling from it, and I can’t wait to see what King has in store next. Highly recommend!

Clowns and Secret Society! Oh My!

I’m obsessed. Words alone can’t articulate how much I loved this book. It will live rent-free in my mind for a long time to come.

Have I ever told you I love a dark horror circus and a secret society? Combining these two makes me as giddy as a kid at the candy store. This is my first book from the author, and let me tell you, I’m highly impressed. It's one of my top reads of the year, and it certainly will not be my last.

Hellion, aka Hell, is instantly obsessed with Noir from the first moment they meet and decides to make her his. Nothing and no one will get in his way, both with traumatic dark backgrounds. I fell in love with Hell and how he feels for Noir and would burn the world for her—instant swoon.

In addition to a fantastic plot with excellent world-building and character development, the spice is extra nice.

Hallow Hellion is a dark horror romance that I love. I read trigger warnings like shopping lists, and this one has a long list.

As Hellion delves deeper into his sadistic games, he encounters a spirit as unyielding as his own—Nior is not easily broken, and the dynamic between the sadist and the masochist becomes a dance of dark desires and forbidden bliss. Must I also say that it is so refreshing to read something where the FMC is a badass! She has character and it flowed so well with the story.

Even though I’ve had quite literally no time to read lately, I found myself thinking about this book constantly and I’m so happy that it was so intriguing and I was so invested because I fear if it was something less unhinged I probably would’ve got myself into a big slump.

Now, this is was a big ‘ol double dose of crazy….and I loved it 😂😂 between Hell throwing his knife into a tree and making her fuck her 🍑 on it, to the random ass killing spree, I was SHOOK. This also had a ton of creepy moments. I think anything that has a circus atmosphere definitely has an eeriness to it automatically… there was a dark mystery lingering the entire time

This is quite literally one of the fucking spiciest books I have ever read, and these scenes were pearl clutching good 😅😂😮‍💨

Hell was the perfect dose of fucking insane and low-key a softy because why did he hand make her a little doll???? THE SWEETEST.

Noir was a glutton for pain (she has a ton of trauma) and Hell lives to hurt her just the way she likes so it worked out perfectly.

We have our feisty little Noir. The little blonde bombshell who made waves when she arrived at the circus with her FWVLB (Friend with Very Little Benefit), Eli.
She makes friends with Blush, the sweet little candy apple you ever did read and is thrown into the bonfire party with all the other circus residents.

This is a pretty typical and predictable dark romance. There are many trigger warnings, so definitely read those before picking up the book. I wouldn't recommend this as your first dark romance, but if you're a fan of the genre and looking for something closer to pitch-black, you'll probably be satisfied. Whether you like it or not is a different story, though. lol

The one thing that was done well was the creepy circus setting. I haven't come across anything like that before, and the author did a great job of making it feel unsettling, bizarre and, honestly, a bit scary. I think this could have been a really great read with stronger writing (especially when it comes to the characters, the development and the dialogues. Having your MMC curse every 2 seconds doesn't make him the big bad unhinged man you want him to be perceived as.)

The characters were fine but a bit cringy at times. The spice was well-written—enough to satisfy anyone craving a super spicy, pitch-black romance with all kinds of kinks. However, the main issue I had was the repetition. By the end of the book, they change things up a little, but for the first 70% or so, I felt like I was reading the same spicy scene over and over. So, that was meh, especially because we all know most people will pick that kind of book up for the spice.

At first, I liked Hell (the MMC), but he turned out to be the most cringeworthy part of the story. I get that he's supposed to be crazy, but the way he spoke felt unnatural, and the dialogue was often stiff. I rolled my eyes at him a few times, especially during the spicy scenes. Also, I don't know if this is something good for a dark romance but I did laugh a bit too much sometimes.

"This man is not only gifted in lenght and girth, clearly blessed by Satan himself, but he decided to weaponize this snake as well? The sheer fucking audacity is shocking."

We didn’t get much from Wrath and Soul (the MMC's "brothers"), but I’m already much more interested in them than in Hell!

I have a feeling I’ll like Wrath more. I mean… my guy, I too enjoy girl-on-girl action. We’re in this together, bro. I’m definitely curious to read the next book, especially for the potential FF we've been teased with.

On the other hand, Noir was much better written. She had great character development, and while I didn’t feel a strong connection to her, I still liked her. The author managed to make us care about her, and I appreciated that we didn’t get all the details about her past before she joined the circus. This kept the tension high as we were left wondering what exactly happened to her and why. It was still fairly predictable to me, but I read so many dark romances that it’s nearly impossible to truly surprise me with this kind of plot.

I would recommend it but not if you need strong writing / good plot to enjoy a book nor would I recommend this as your first pitch-black romance.

The story takes you deep into a creepy world full of insanity and carnal desires. Our MCs Noir and Hell are dealing with their demons in their own way. Noir suffered for years since her mother died in a car accident and she tries to overcome her struggles with anti-depressants. Hell on the other hand enjoys his insanity and doesn’t give a fųçk what others want or think. Jodie manages to keep you on the edge all the time with her plot twists and always finds a way to make it more intense and more creepy.

The spice is so much, that I had to skip some paragraphs.

So if you are into really dark romance, with a lot of body fluids, depraved desires and no triggers - this is your book!

Well, i finished it and im still alive and completely fine , i have to start by saying im very amused by the author ability to turn such heart wrenching scenes into PURE SMUT yes yes 🤭
I feel like i just unlocked another version of myself tbh , im discovering stuff about myself i never thought I'll like 👽.

This was dark like really dark im not joking it's giving American horror story s4 , it was 🥵🥵🥵 but at the same time the plot line was interesting keeping me on my toe evey single chapter and the plot twists my jaw still dropped I can't close it, I love this book here i said it SUE ME you know what I LOVE HELL HE'S PERFECT SUE ME AGAIN🚨 .

I liked how the character's devolped during the book , the fmc noir i loved her so much she's so strong and the stuff she went through are just 🤯 i liked how she matched Hell energy from the first chapter 😭🤭 and the last chapter also (iykyk) .

Anyway this was fire 🔥 SIGN ME THE FUCK UP FOR THE SECOND BOOK HOLLOW WRATH IM WAITING FOR YOU .

I'm very pleased it turned out to be a 5 star read as it's was one of the more expensive books on amazon. It was in the darker side, fun, emotional and it had me hooked. Very much looking forward for the next book.

The anticipation of this book was warranted, the dedication sets you up for an investing read 🤡

From the first chapter you're pulled in, and subsequently into Oddity Carnival, this is where the story takes us on a journey of dubious decisions, introductions of circque employees (dare I say misfits), macabre happenings and secrets that lead us into a world of gore, bloodshed, carnage and the rest 😈⛓️🎪🎠🌶️💀🔪

Our FMC, Noir is not without her own depths of darkness and secrets. She meets ‘her family’, they maybe odd but they protect their own. Hell or Hellion is determined to make her his ‘little Dolly’, to break her, to have her submission, to own her. His control both turns her on and off, the past trying to drag them under. Question is who is in control 🤔
If you like your characters a little (a lot unhinged) with a smattering of obsession and a dumper truck of smut then this is a book for you 🤭

I can’t go into more detail or I am in danger of spoiling it for you, this is one book you will have to read for yourself. I will state categorically to read the trigger warnings, they are there for a reason!

What a book!!!

I'm obsessed! This story is so twisted and dark and i ate that sh!t up!!!!
Noir is a badass fmc who has a lot of tr@uma and is running from her stepdad. She's on the run with Eli a man she met after she escaped. Eli saw that they were searching for new people at a circus nearby and they are going to apply.
Noir fits in immediately because the circus is twisted just like she is and there she meets Hellion.
Hellion is i think the most unhinged mmc i've read about and i loved him.
This story was everything i needed. There was spice, plot, it was dark. It was just perfection!!
I can't wait to read the other stories!!
Everyone if you can handle the trigger GO READ THIS!

This dark romance was utterly disturbing yet so addictive!

Set in a circus carnival that is infamous as the most horrifying spectacle, the story follows Noir, our fierce and mesmerising FMC. Noir has endured unimaginable horrors, shaping her into a sadistic yet breathtaking performer who commands attention. She is one of the most complex characters I've ever encountered.

Then there is Hellion, or Hell, the MMC who is as terrifying as he is fascinating. I have never been more shocked, appalled, and obsessed with a character before. His brutality knows no bounds, and every moment with him is filled with unpredictable danger. The chemistry between Hellion and Noir is electric, a combination of two forces that thrive in the darkest corners of existence.

The world building and character development are exceptional. The eerie, twisted carnival setting is vividly crafted, making it impossible to look away. Even as the horrors unfold, there is an undeniable pull to stay immersed in the story. I absolutely need more Jodie King in my life after reading this.

This book is undeniably spicy. Some scenes pushed my limits, making me uncomfortable, yet the shock factor was part of the experience. Hellion seeks to break Noir through pain and suffering for his own pleasure, unaware that she is intimately familiar with pain herself.

In the words of Jodie King, "Once a sadist’s cravings collide with a masochist’s submissive desires, the world around us dissolves into a mist of forbidden darkness and insatiable bliss, where boundaries blur and inhibitions fade into oblivion." This quote perfectly encapsulates the essence of Hollow Hellion - a journey into a seductive, haunting darkness that refuses to let go.

I never ever thought I could get behind a circus inspired book (clowns and I do not get along, FYI there are not many in here) but fucking here I am FULLY immersed in this world. Everyone is a little insane and lives in this depraved community where dark secrets are kept.

I think I need to seek serious help with how quickly I fell for Hell in this book. The more Noir pushed him away the more I screamed that I would be tribute.

I went into this book fairly blind and I’m glad I did. It was an amazing story full of acceptance for who you are as you are, found family, and emotional healing. The FMC Noir was strong and a force to be reckoned with, but still had a soft spot for those around her. And Hellion or Hell, our MMC was obsessed with her from day one, and only has a soft spot for her.

This book is FUCKING DARK. Please check the insane trigger list before going into this. The spice in this book is also very very kinky and taboo so be aware of that before going in.

okay so let me start off by saying i was totally okay with the warnings in the book that’s NOT what bothered me.

what i didn’t like was how cringe this was sometimes 😭 like the whole “i’m not like other girls” and the “i’m a villain with no soul rah scary” thing was NOT for me. like okayyy we get ittt??
as soon as i got past that and they stopped mentioning it i was good.

this is another warning if u know me, GET OUT.

i did enjoy the dark kinky stuff don’t get me wrong but the amount of smut in this was INSANE. it got to the point where i was just skimming through it tbh.

would’ve been better if it had less smut, more slow burn in the beginning between the couple, and just more depth to the plot considering it was wrapped up in the last 20%

also this is my first time reading a dark horror romance where the mmc is a deranged psychopath AND still feels like he genuinely loves the fmc and isn’t abusive and straight up using her as a punching bag.
like after hellion got past the “chasing her” stage he seemed truly interested in noir and wanted to get to know her better.

bare minimum ikr?? BUT when u think about it literally 70% of dark romance books have a very thin line between being dark and kinky in the bedroom, and being a complete fucking asshole to the fmc. like they are NOT the same, don’t confuse one with the other. being kinky doesn’t mean u should also be an asshole. is it so hard to be freaky between the sheets and also soft and caring for each other??
it’s rare i come across a dark romance book that has these two sides cleared up so u’ll excuse me for appreciating that while reading this.

if ur thinking about reading this book PLEASE check the trigger warnings (it has literally 44 warnings) this isn’t for everyone and that’s okay.

personally, i’ve had my fair share of fucked up books so this did not faze me at all.
i’ll read just about anything BUT what i don’t like is when there are cringe and icky shit on there. and this book had some ngl. but it was one of those books that are enjoyable enough that i could somewhat look past the cliche stuff to continue. STILL cringe but ig it wasn’t enough for me to dnf, i really needed to see the ending 😭

This book is phenomenal! The FMC, Noir is escaping a life of trauma and abuse. She ends up at the circus, where she becomes the obsession of Hellion. Hellion is a dark romance girls dream, tattooed, bike riding, deranged, and beautifully lethal.

This book has a great plot, and although you can kind of see it coming, I still wasn't disappointed. Great characters, all with traumas and unhinged personalities create a brilliant atmosphere for this twisted romance.

Great read, you will not be disappointed.

All the other book boyfriends need to move on over cause Hell has arrived! I cant even begin to explain how much I loved this book. The Characters are fantastic, and the shock towards the end will steal your breath away. Hell is brutal and so morally black, yet you can't help not falling in love with him. Nior is such a strong FMC, while also being such a good little Dolly for Hell. I need to know where I can find a friend like Blush, she doesn't hold back and takes zero crap. The glass maze scene was the perfect mixture of dark, depraved, and spicy. This book has easily taken the number 1 spot for my favorite book of 2024. If you love dark, spicy, sometimes sweet, and depraved please read this book, you will not be disappointed. *Please go over the TWs cause this book is dark with a lot of trauma*

wow! another gripping story that keeps you sucked into the world of oddity carnival and cirque!

noir and hellion have this attraction that latches on and is hard to ignore. it’s electric anytime they interact in the story and only grows stronger when they finally experience their desires.

jodie king does an amazing job of adding this layer of mental health and how it impacts them and the reality of it.

Noir and Hellion are a match made in hell, their dark and twisted tale was amazing and I would pay to be able to read it for the first time again and again. 🙌🏻

This was dark!!! But I ate up every minute of it. The slice in this? My jaw was on the floor because I was so caught off guard😭 The horror aspect of this book? IMMACULATE ✨ I always have a hit or miss feeling whenever I read a horror romance book but this one check all the boxes while making it enjoyable. Jodie King never fails me honestly so idk why im acting all surprised. 🤭 If you like cirque aesthetic books, dark romance, and horror? Read this!!
