Very interesting read - covers the Inca civilisation that built Machu Picchu, the expedition that led to Machu Picchu's discovery, the outcome of the expedition, artifacts found, tombs uncovered, etc. The expedition by Hiram Bingham III is the main highlight of the book. I had no idea of Yale University's and National Geographic's involvement in the entire affair, as well as the feud between Yale and Peru over the possession of the artifacts, so I really learned a lot from this title.
Just a small complaint that a few parts were a bit repetitive - the text probably needed better organisation to trim away the repeated parts and establish greater continuity between the chapters. Other than that, this is a good book to pick up if you wish to have a quick overview of the history and discovery of Machu Picchu.
