The Core Library collection by ABDO brings interesting elements to challenge the reader, as it poses questions, offers additional access to digital resources and asks readers to compare the sources of information, provides excerpts from primary sources and provides guiding questions to further readers thinking and form opinions. Photos or graphic sources can be found on each page spread, offering frequent breaks from text for at-promise readers. The photography is of high quality, detailed, and purposeful in its use. This text on fossils ends with a a section titled Stop and Think, a Glossary, and a list of resources for further study. This book includes a section titled Other Types of Fossils that discusses mummies, dinosaur eggs, and organisms that have been naturally preserved through the years through amber and tar; these fossils are not always discussed in detail in general books on fossilization.

A fairly basic ABDO book about Fossils. The information is a bit dense and I struggled to get through all of it, but it would work well for a report or other assignment. Recommended for ages 7-9.
