A psychic moose shifter. A handsome guy who is psychically silent. The chance for a fresh start, and a threat from the past that might get in the way.
Brandon Davis is a psychic and a moose shifter. He makes his living as a wilderness guide in Fox Hollow, NY—a town that is a haven for misfit shifters and psychics. Brandon has a profitable business, a found family of close friends, and a cozy cabin in the woods. Life is good, but he wishes he could find a special someone to share it with. Then he picks up the unmistakable scent of his fated mate--a handsome man who isn't a shifter of any kind and whose thoughts he can't read. The chemistry is undeniable, but can he fall for a silent partner?
Riley Henderson escaped a bad relationship with an ex-boyfriend he suspects is a psi-vamp. He left town and got a scholarship to the Fox Institute to explore his rare ability—his thoughts are mostly closed to being read by psychics. Getting away from his ex was worth being studied for his unusual silence as a “nil” or an “immune.” Especially since the situation comes with a stipend, an apartment, and a regular gig as a musician at one of the local hotels. Riley intends to go boy-sober until he meets a tall, dark-haired stranger with whom he has a sudden, intense connection. When he realizes Brandon is both a psychic and a shifter, Riley needs to figure out how they can overcome those differences to be together. And in the back of his mind, Riley worries—what if his ex shows up to ruin everything?
Silent Partner is a MM shifter romance filled with found family, a snarky moose, a soulful musician, sexy shifters, small town winter fun, fated mates, helpful psychics, lots of snow and a very happy ending.
3.5 stars I had read book 2 in this series which was okay, I had the same thoughts for this one as well.
Brandon, 30, and was a 🫎 also a guide in the national parks for tourist visitors. I loved Brandon’s telepathy talents especially when he bumps into his mate who seems to inumme. Riley was new in town as a musician player but he was also running from a bad relationship. I found this to be an okay fast romance, this was written in dual pov in third person which wasn't my fave reading. Their scenes were just too fast for me to get a connection to the characters to love this. Dramas play out which endangers Riley for this insta-connection fated mates romance. I received this advance reader copy via GRR and this is my honest thoughts of the book.
I adore Morgan Brice’s shifters. She often chooses unusual animals, a moose in this book. Her shifters are like two separate beings inside one body. I love the conversations between the human and animal halves. Brandon is a moose shifter who is a wilderness guide. He is also telepathic, which has caused trouble in past relationships. No one wants their partner to hear all their thoughts. Riley is a musician and a psychic nil. He came to Fox Hollow to escape an abusive ex who is stalking him. When they meet Brandon’s moose knows Riley is their mate. The attraction is immediate for Riley as well. Their relationship develops quickly as with most fated mates stories. It is always fun to read about Fox Hollow and was great getting to visit with couples from previous Fox Hollow universe books. I highly recommend this book and the series. I can’t wait to see what happens next in Fox Hollow!
Brandon & Riley were great together. I loved that the Fox Institute is bringing in potential mates, even if that's not its intentions, for the residents. Riley being on the run and trying to start fresh in this town adds spice to the store. We learn early who our villain is gonna be and be on the look out for him, while watching our MCs fall for each other. I love that Brandon is a moose shifter. You don't read many books with them as the lead and him being a hiking guide makes sense.
This was a great story in this series. We have loveable characters, an intriguing plot and cold weather activities. Definitely recommend reading it.
This is book three of this series but it’s the first one I’ve read and it did ok as a standalone but I think it would have been to have read the previous books in the series for maximum enjoyment, I really liked Riley and Brandon as characters and liked the description and setting of Fox hollow. I enjoyed the story and am going to go back and read the other books in the series.
Reviewed for Love Bytes – 3.75 hearts. Fox Hollow is a small town known for its unusual inhabitants. Nevertheless, trail guide, EMT and moose shifter, Brandon wasn’t sure he’d find his fated mate among them. And he was right. It took an out-of-towner to ping Brandon’s instincts. However, Riley is mundane, a musician, nil, and on the run from a stalking abusive ex. What could go right, and what could go wrong? Silent Partner is book three in the Fox Hollow Zodiac series, and in theory all instalments can be read as standalone works, although previous knowledge may give more depth to the experience. I am a fan of Morgan Brice’s works, and I like some more than others. This is a good story, worthy of a place on the shelf. But, despite some outstanding elements, it’s not the work of genius that this author is capable of. The story is told in the third person from the viewpoints of Brandon and Riley. Also, many scenes are lived by both Brandon and Riley, causing repetition. Much of the narrative features the good-natured, gifted residents, and the ideological layout of Fox Hollow. I liked the positive, caring atmosphere that surrounded the locals. There is also plenty of build-up to an incoming storm, a moose festival, and the danger on the horizon. When each event arrived (thinking in isolation), they were good, but the build-up oversold the event itself, making me expect more than was delivered. I felt like – ‘that was it’ and cheated of some potentially epic drama. The star of the show is Brandon’s moose. He, alone, upgraded everything. He is snarky, and blunt, and I could have read a whole book from his POV – excellent. Brandon’s human side, much like Riley, is a lovely person who overthinks, and almost has an entire romance in the head before it happens, including intuitive leaps of realization without conversing with the other person. Hence, when they finally go on a date, they jump to the spice with little foreplay. Which, considering Riley is sworn off men, hails to the power of the fated mate. Silent Partner is one of those amicable tales where nothing is left to guesswork, as all possibilities are voiced by one means or another. Some will like this - personally, it depends on my mood as to whether I like everything laid on a plate for me or not. This book was provided free in exchange for a fair and honest review for Love Bytes.
I haven't read a lot of books by this author before, but the ones that I have read I've enjoyed. This one I also enjoyed.
Brandon is a moose shifter who also has psychic abilities, everyone's thoughts are projected into his mind so loudly he has to focus and concentrate to tune them out. One day whilst he's at a grocery store he catches scent of his mate, and when he finds the human in a aisle of the store, he realizes he can't read Riley's thoughts at all, he's immune.
Riley loves music and enjoys performing. After breaking up with his controlling ex he flees to Fox Hollow hoping his ex won't follow, and that he can get a fresh start on his life. While he's shopping for groceries he meets a man who captures his interest right away.
I enjoyed reading this story, it wasn't too long, but also wasn't too short. The pacing was great, dialogue flowed smoothly and made sense, the background was described in great detail, and I loved the in depth explanations of both shifters and psychics, that was really cool! I haven't read any other book that has had a moose shifter so that alone made this book unique. What also made this book unique was the side characters and the magical town that is Fox Hollow. All of the characters are so lively, warm and welcoming towards Riley, and they all jump in to help when something bad happens.
Riley and Brandon's relationship developed slowly overtime they didn't rush things right away, which is something I really appreciated. I like that they got to know each other and went on dates before they exchanged 'I love yous'. I appreciated the details that were used to describe Brandon's moose form, it helped with picturing Brandon's shifter side.
Something I loved the most was the found family that the folks in Fox Hollow formed, it was so endearing to read about.
Independent reviewer for GRR, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 3 in the Fox Hollow Zodiac series, and I have NOT read books 1, Huntsman and book 2, Again. Somethings were missing for me, mostly about the Fox Institute and what it was there for, but since Riley spends very little time there, and what HE was doing there was explained, I let it ride. I think I might go back and read books 1 and 2, though. Not because I need to, but because I want to know about Liam/Russ and Noah/Drew and their stories. They play a part here.
Riley runs from his abusive ex, and finds himself a study subject in The Fox Institute, since Riley is psychically silent: no one can read his mind. Which is great, but Brandon is a psychic! And a moose. There is immediate attraction, but Riley is scared. His ex might show up and ruin everything.
I liked the fact that Brandon doesn't get that "MINE" moment, when he meets Riley. Yes, he is attracted, but only the MOOSE half of Brandon calls for his mate. Brandon the MAN doesn't quite feel it. He does, in the end, but not at the beginning. I liked that Riley was wary enough of Brandon as a psychic to question him, but the fact that his moose makes him feel safe surprises Riley. I liked that fact that they got to know each other, before acting on the attraction.
I liked Brandon's group of friends and the support he gets from them. I liked that they took Riley in, once they were a couple.
I struggled a bit with the fact that Riley's ex just turned up: there was no build up to that. The ex was talked about, and then he appears. Could have done with more on that but said ex does get his just desserts!
All in all, I liked this a lot. I'll go back and read the first two books, just as soon as I can.
4/5 I came into this as a stand-alone, and I thought it held up quite well. It’s clear that there’s romances between members of the friend group, but it’s not overwhelming if you don’t want to go back (but welcoming if you do want to learn more). I’m not a huge fan of books that have too many “solo fantasy” scenes before a couple gets together; I would much rather have them getting to know one another and then save the intimate scenes for when the two of them are intimate together. There were three here, but I just skimmed a bit, and then we were back to Brandon and Riley actually spending time together. There’s a lot of time spent together, learning about shared and new interests, etc., which I really liked to counterbalance the “fated mate” aspect.
I liked Brandon’s moose a lot, the connection that Brandon and Riley built even without Brandon’s telepathy, and the acceptance of the townsfolk. I would have liked to spend a little more time with Riley learning about being a nil, but I did like the little details we got.
This is mostly low-angst except for an (expected) action-filled climax, and drama is low between the MCs, mostly just figuring out what they can tell one another about themselves when, and worrying that things are going too fast. (Brandon’s moose has it all figured out well before anyone else, lol.) This was a fun, entertaining small-town adventure.
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.
I have been a fan of Morgan Brice since I first read "Badlands." Each book I read or listen to reminds me how much I enjoy her writing.
"Silent Partner" is a great addition to the Fox Hollow Zodiac series. This series gets better and better with every book released. It is part of a shared world with other series written under the Morgan Brice pen name and under non-romantic Gail Z Martin name. Each series in this universe shows a different aspect in this world, from ghosts, magic users and supernatural crime, Psychics, monsters and creatures gone bad, demons, and Shifters of many species. Fox Hollow feels like the lighter side of this world.
Fox Hollow is a town with psychics, witches and shifters based in northern New York state. It is a haven for those just wanting to safely be themselves. This is the case for Moose shifter Brandon who has been in Fox Hollow for many years and newcomer Riley who is escaping a bad relationship and stalker ex. This series (and book) has Fated Mates as the main trope, so there is an instant attraction between the MCs. It has Insta-Lust, a fast burn and quick to love elements. It is adorable to see in Brandon and Riley how their growing attraction builds. Both are nervous and unsure at first but that doesn't last long and the ending as a lovely HEA.
I highly recommend this author and series and anxiously await further audiobooks set in this world.
I was given a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
SILENT PARTNER is the third book in the Fox Hollow Zodiac series, and I do think you need to have read the previous books to get the full enjoyment from this one.
Riley is on the run from his stalker ex and ends up in Fox Hollow. The hows and whys I'm not 100% sure about. The problem is, we hear about his stalker and a little about their time together, but then it's not mentioned again until near the end. Brandon is a moose shifter, happy enough by himself, although he dreams of finding his mate. Brandon, I really liked. Riley, well, he had to grow on me.
I needed more information about the Institute and the town itself, although that is probably explained in prior books. I can't fully explain it but I was really looking forward to this book and it somehow just didn't deliver for me. I loved that Brandon was a moose and the camaraderie he had with his friends, especially some of the comments about wolves, but yeah, something just didn't work for me. I'm sure there are plenty of others who will love it, so I'll still recommend it, especially if you have read the first two.

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! July 16, 2024
So good to be back in Fox Hollow. It's a great place for shifters/psychics where they are free to be themselves. Riley moves to the area, mainly to escape his stalker-ish ex but also to join a research study who are looking at nils - people with no psychic ability but who also give nothing to other psychics. This is interesting to Brandon who is a telepath and can hear others thoughts but gets nothing from Riley, the human he, and his moose, think is his mate. It's a fairly low angst romance as the two slowly get to know each other as Fox Hollow becomes further snowed. Brandon's moose is actually quite funny with his internal monologue and has no shame in saying how magnificent he is. Riley is clearly recovering from an emotional time with his ex but Brandon is so sweet and caring that it's easy for Riley to fall for him. However, there is always a little something to cause drama and that comes in the form of Riley's ex. (trigger warning/possible spoiler below) Another great addition to the series and it's wonderful to read the different men we've met so far as a part of the small community and found family feel. There's definitely at least one more to come and I'm looking forward to it. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
**content/trigger warning for a stalker ex and kidnapping**
I say this in nearly every review I do of a Morgan Brice book: I love how she writes books in her series so that they really can be read as standalone stories. She always provides enough information so that you aren't lost if you pick up a book that's in the middle of a series; Silent Partner is no exception.
The blurb is quite detailed so I won't restate it. I will say that I was on the edge of my seat for several parts of this story. I knew that eventually Riley's stalker ex would find him but I didn't know how that would manifest itself in the book. On a lighter side, I loved all of the internal dialogue that Brandon had with his moose. The moose would get snarky and insistent at times. It's a bit of a slow-burn story (not a complaint!) but when things heat up between Brandon and Riley they really heat up! 🔥
It was fun visiting with characters from previous books but you absolutely can read this as a standalone with no problem. It's been about a year and 400 or so books since I read the last Fox Hollow: Zodiac novel but it didn't matter that I couldn't remember specific details about the previous stories.
As a funny aside…this story is set in winter in the New York Adirondacks and I was reading it during a scorching heatwave in the summer. That was nice and refreshing. 😊
A copy of this book was provided to me at my request and my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Brandan Davis is happy with his life as a wilderness guide in Fox Hollow NY. As a moose and a psychic, Brandon is missing one thing to make his life perfect – a mate. While shopping he picks up an enticing scent that is sure to be his mate. Riley Henderson, the source of that scent, came to Fox Hollow to escape his stalker ex, a man he suspects is a psi-vamp. He plans to work with the Fox Institute to explore his rare ability as a nil, someone who cannot be read. He is also a musician and has a job lined up to play at the hotel. He is attracted to Brandon but worries that his ex may catch up with them. It turns out they both have secrets.
Brandon made an excellent moose and Riley figured that if there are psychics then there may be shifters as well. He sees Brandon as a moose and is thinking it may be him. Riley and Brandon spend time together especially attending a fair celebrating a particular animal. Riley feels at home and wants to stay and Brandon wants him to stay as well. This is another incredible story from Morgan Brice. They just get better and better- almost as good as fine chocolate. Buy, read enjoy!!!!! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and this is my very own opinion.
It’s no secret that I love the Fox Hollow books. I might just love this one the most! Brandon is just amazing. The dialogue between he and his other half is just too funny. It’s also great to see moose getting some good attention, too. He’s strong, fearless, and completely at home in his skin. He and his moose know and understand each other completely. Riley is quite different. His abusive ex took away his confidence. He had enough left to break away and make the move when the offer came. Jeffries was right, some people come to Fox Hollow right when they need it. This story fits in perfectly with the other Fox Hollow books. The town is full of great characters that we’ve gotten to know and love. There are so many different types of paranormals there. Everyone has an open mind about others (except maybe strangers) and no one cares what type of shifter you are or who you get together with. To top it all off, it’s great to have a setting where winter is such a big part of things. Many of the shifters are well adapted to the weather. No one takes it for granted. It’s described so beautifully. Wonderful book, wonderful series. Can’t wait for the next!
This is book 3 in the Fox Hollow Zodiac series and I think it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I really enjoyed this book. I loved both the main characters. I liked how they interacted with each other. I have to admit I love the idea of a psychic moose shifter. And falling for someone who is a nil is perfect! This is the story of Brandon Davis and Riley Henderson. Brandon loves his job as a wilderness guide. Enjoying the outdoors and teaching people how to safely enjoy and appreciate nature. Perfect. Of course, if he had someone waiting for him to return it would be even better. Riley is a musician and has moved to Fox Hollow to get away from a terrible ex. And to let himself be studied at the Fox Institute. This is their story. I enjoyed how the two of them enjoyed each others company right from the start. And of course, there is plenty of found family to help them out. The book is well written and easy to read. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I received a complementary advanced review copy of the book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
“Silent Partner” by Morgan Brice is part of the Fox Hollow Zodiac series and features Brandon, a wilderness guide, and Riley, a musician, who discover that they are perfect for each other…provided each is willing to share his secrets.
This adult gay paranormal romance features a type of shifter who doesn’t normally get much time in the spotlight, and it was fun to read about him. I love the repartee between Brandon and his moose alter-ego, and I was fascinated by the idea of a psychic nil being peaceful for a telepath to be around. I was a bit disappointed that the suspense and action were resolved a bit quickly and seemed to be secondary to the sex scenes, and I thought the guys got pretty hot and heavy very early in their relationship.
I was happy to see some of the characters from previous stories, and was very happy to be armchair traveling through the vivid descriptions of hiking through snowy weather. Just like his moose, Brandon is a larger-than-life personality, and I was delighted to make his acquaintance. Fox Hollow is a fun place to visit, and I enjoyed seeing other characters from the series.
Moose shifter Brandon is a wilderness guide and telepathic. The first time he saw Riley he knew the man was his fated mate. When Brandon discovered he couldn’t “read” Riley he knew they would be perfect together. Riley is hiding from his dangerous ex. A man he is terrified of. The men have a long way to go to achieve their happy ever after.
I like how this author turns the unbelievable into commonplace. Fox Hollow is home to all manner of beings. Psychics, witches, a large range of shifter types, and other paranormals all living side by side. I also like the sense of family that’s been created between these unusual people. I mean, where else would a Rocky and Bullwinkle marathon create excitement?
I loved Brandon’s inner conversations with his snarky moose.
We live where moose sightings are commonplace and weather isn’t predictable so this story resonated with me. Now, every time I see a moose I’m going to wonder and they all shall be called Brandon.

Silent Partner by Morgan Brice is book 3 in the Fox Hollow Zodiac series. I’ve not read the first two and was easily able to follow along so it could be read as a standalone. I am interested in going back to read the first two.
Brandon, a moose shifter, lives and works in Fox Hollow. He loves his town and being a shifter. The only thing missing from his life is his mate. Riley Henderson is running from a violent ex and is studying at the Fox Hollow Institute. Riley is a nil which means that his thoughts may not be read by a psychic. The town is full of shifters and psychics. Brandon and Riley meet and are immediately atrtracted to each other.
I would have loved to have seen more of Riley’s gift. What exactly does it mean? However, I loved these two together. They were so stinkin’ sweet. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Don’t let the headline fool you, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and its storyline between the two MC’s but by book 3 I have picked up on Morgan’s style and started paying attention to what was said for foreshadowing clues for the main plot conflict. Much like the one character states “they hide in plane sight”, the plot foreshadowing was there if you were looking for it.
The spice got there alittle faster then with the first two books in the series but still didn’t hit you with the home run til the end in similar fashion to the other books.
Morgan’s writing style is enjoyable and easy to fall into. I believe this is the last book in the series, which stinks because it has to do with zodiac matches and there are 6 left that we haven’t matched yet and there was a foreshadowing st the end of another character looking for a match. Maybe at this point Morgan’s not done with the series. Fingers crossed.
Riley is fleeing a crazy ex-boyfriend and ends up in Fox Hollow. He immediately feels an infinity for the town and it's residents. When he meets Brandon at the grocery store there's an immediate attraction on both sides. Brandon is a psychic so he knows right off the bat that Riley is his mate. Riley is a psychic nil so he's more comforting for Brandon to be around. These two form an attachment fast and between their own lives they spend a lot of time together. Drama comes to town and shakes things up but Riley and Brandon get through it.
This is a sweet, low drama paranormal/fantasy/romance. I liked seeing characters from the previous books make appearances. The chemistry between Riley and Brandon is good. The story is good. There's good world and character building. Definitely worth the read.
I am absolutely loving this quirky, enjoyable and fun Fox Hollow series! Such a great found family and I loved the fact we got revists from previous couples. I highly recommend this book and the series. Morgan creates such brilliant characters, I mean a physic moose! Brandon (a telepathic moose shifter) has struggled with past relationships because of his ability, (understandably to be honest as most people don't want their partner to hear their thoughts)! However he meets Riley (a musician) and luckily for Brandon a psychic null! However Riley is running from an abusive ex who is stalking him. As always they meet, realise they are fated mates and instant attraction! However that is the only predictable part of this thoroughly entertaining storyline! Can't wait for the next in the series. I received a free arc copy from GRR and this is my honest review.
This is another cute addition to the Fox Hollow universe.
A moose shifter who struggles with being psychic and a magical nil who also running away from a bad relationship, It's a fated mates story with lots of old friends from Fox Hollow.
I really like the set up of quirky individuals who don't fit in their normal clan, group or whatever and find a home in this town. The book is, like the others, drama-and angst-free on the relationship front with just a bit of hestitation.
There is some mystery plot again but the focus is very much on the main character's relationship.
I love the internal discussion between human and shifter side of Brandon, his moose is quite funny and determind.
Morgan Brice has done it again. I absolutely loved Silent Partner and delving into the world of Fox Hollow. Riley is a human who is running. Brandon is a shifter and a psychic who just found his mate in Riley...but he can't hear his thoughts. I loved the lightheartedness of this story. The way Brandon dances around who Riley is to him, and then Riley just going for it. It had me doing a little dance in my seat. It was cute, and the characters are great and memorable. When compared to some of Morgan Brice's other works, I would say this is definitely on the lighter side, and there is nothing wrong with that. I have yet to read a book I didn't like from this author. 4 stars and I highly suggest you go out and get it yourself.
I really liked Riley and Brandon! They were fun and sweet and complemented each other in the best of ways. They were fated mates, and it was a bit insta, which is the norm in this kind of stories, but it worked for them. Brandon's moose was so much fun! And it was so refreshing to find a different kind of shifter in a book.
I didn't particularly care about Riley's ex's plotline, but all's well that ends well, I guess. I felt that it got resolved a little too fast after the buildup.
Anyway, this was an enjoyable read and I liked seeing some of the couples from the previous books appear in this one. Very recommendable!
*** Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie, for my reading pleasure, a review wasn't a requirement. ***
Fox Hollow is an amazing setting: it’s a town full of interesting, likable characters and Brandon and Riley fit right in. Here we have fated mates, a dynamic take on shifters where both animal and human sides have distinct personalities and perspectives, and some strong chosen family dynamics as well. The pacing is good, the protagonists are compelling, and there’s just something about watching a psychic moose shifter/ wilderness guide and a musician who’s psychically nil find exactly what they need in each other that makes for a fun read.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I was happy that we got another book in this series. Riley comes to town run from a bad breakup. His ex keeps stalking him, so he thinks that if he runs far enough, he can get away from him. He accepts a job at the institute so that the professor can study his gift. Brandon who is a moose shifter, is a hiking guide. I love that his moose side has a voice. That always thrills me in a book when they are sort of an individual and we can hear what he has to say. When Brandon sees Riley, he knows that he is his mate. Now he has to convince Riley of that and introduce him to the world of shifters. This was a good addition to this world and we get to see some of the others that came before. Even though you do see the other couples, this book could be read as a standalone, just not sure why you would want to :).
I rec'd a copy of this book from GRR, and this is my honest review.
Fascinating and exciting. Romantic and beautiful. Steamy and mildly angsty. Drama and action. That is a quick summary of "Silent Partner".
The imagery and scenery are richly described. All the characters are well-casted and deftly used. And they are wonderful and loveable. The storyline flows smoothly and flawlessly, making this a compelling read. Things get really emotionally charged in the last third of the book. Be warned: there is a car accident that happens on page and is very graphic. I hugely enjoyed reading this and am pleasantly satisfied by the entire story. Recommended!
Dangerous and sweet. I love a story when the MC are absolutely likeable. Brandon, is a psychic moose shifter who is among the last of the singles in his friend group. He conducts tours to visitors to Fox Hollow. Riley, is a human musician who is on the run from a stalker ex. They meet in the grocery store and feel an instant attraction. Brandon's moose recognizes their mate. Riley, sees a really hot guy. Their courtship is not smooth, but the Moose is the best part of the story. Having a stalker is never good and this one is bolder than most. Great flow, exciting, fantastic characters, great support group, well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
