With the rhyming text, this book will have students mastering multiplication with easy tricks and tips! With visual representation, sample problems, and easy to follow instructions students will see the pattern within multiplication rules. This book will allow students to understand properties of multiplication and the relationship between multiplication and division.
Please see my review of Arias's other book in the "Got Math!" series titled, Time Travel. This book on multiplication, explained mostly in rhyme, may help those students struggling in multiplication and division only if there is an adult to guide the students through the explanations. I did not find all of the examples given to be self-explanatory or helpful. If a student is already successful in multiplication and division, perhaps this could be used as supplementary or enrichment material. I have not tried out either of these math books with my students, but would be interested in their opinions on whether the books are helpful or not in elucidating the concepts given. Many of Arias's teachings seem to be tricks to understanding the math, but she does not explain the "why" of how numbers work.
