Theo’s sole purpose for the last ninety-eight years was to protect his wolf. That changed the moment he met Drew and the wolf called ‘Mate’.

Carrying the soul of an extinct wolf alongside your own isn’t easy. Swapping into said wolf is even harder. Ask Theo Grey—he’s been doing it for ninety-eight years. Yet, after surviving two world wars, witnessing the space race and patiently enduring the eighties, you’d think he’d have seen it all, but nothing could have prepared him for meeting Tofino’s new vet, Drew O’Bannion and according to the wolf, his mate.

Drew loves her dog, sleeping in and coffee. She also loves being a vet. The main reason behind her accepting the veterinarian practice offered to her from a family friend. Hoping for a slower pace at life Tofino seemed the ideal spot. What she didn’t expect was Officer Theo Grey. Theo is tall, dark and drop dead gorgeous, a definite 10 on the ‘wow’ scale. Regardless of his looks, there is more to Theo, there is her unexpected attraction for him. It’s unnerving and completely out of character for her, but she is able to match Theo’s hungry kiss, for hungry kiss.

With their desire growing at an alarming rate and the threat of an unknown shooter roaming the woods of the coastal town, Theo must face the ultimate decision—let Drew go for her own safety or claim his mate for all time.

My name is Nancy Adams. I am a full-blooded Canadian, right down to the maple syrup running though my veins. I enjoy watching hockey but despise skating...and the cold. I enjoy a good helping of Tourtiere with a side of Poutine as much as the next person, yet I am only bilingual when it comes to swear words.
I have three small - but legal - addictions: bed linens, lavender and books. All of which are replenished on a regular basis.
I don't show favoritism towards any one genre, I like them all and when writing I just go with the flow write what I want to write.

My first book of the new year and it's a winner.

When it comes to the paranormal romance genre, I prefer reading novels about shifter (werewolves) than vampires. I wish I could say that every novel I’ve read about shifters has been amazing, but sadly no. Coming across “Extinct,” I thought I’d give it a chance and I’m so glad I did. I was hooked after reading the first couple of chapters.

“Carrying the soul of an extinct wolf alongside your own isn’t easy.”

Theo Grey is a police officer in a small town. Drew is the new vet and on the very first day of work Theo walks in with a wounded dog. From the moment they meet, Theo’s werewolf declares Drew his “mate.” As Theo fights his attraction to Drew, he also fights the truth that she is his mate, especially as his wolf has never declared anyone to be his mate in all the years they’ve been together. As for Drew, she can’t understand her sudden and powerful feelings for Theo.

Theo isn’t a werewolf per say. He doesn’t belong to a pack; doesn’t turn into a werewolf when there’s a full moon; and he can’t turn anyone into a werewolf with a bite. He carries the soul of an extinct werewolf within him. I loved how unique “Extinct” was from so many of the other shifter novels I’ve read. The author gives her readers two terrific, well-developed, and likeable protagonists. I loved Theo. An alpha-male (but not that’s over-the-top) with a strong presence, who oozes sexuality that you can’t ignore. As for Drew, a likeable and realistic character. Smart, strong, and confident, she’s like any other woman with self-doubt and vulnerabilities; never hiding what she feels; and thankfully never turning into a woman who’s TSTL once she meets Theo. Don’t you just hate those heroines? And when Theo and Drew get together, they definitely burn up the sheets with all the sexual escapades.

I really enjoyed reading “Extinct,”. The author gives the readers a paranormal-shifter romance with a unique spin that’s full of drama, mystery, and passion. Not being a fan of instant-love or marriage, the author creates a romance that grows eventually into love. I couldn’t get enough, especially the banter between Theo and his wolf. And in case you’re wondering, this is a stand-alone novel. It’s not part of a series. Whoo-hoo! Love that! Even better, I can honestly tell you I loved how the story ended. Now that’s something I don’t say too often. “Extinct,” is a novel I highly recommend.

For those wondering why four stars and not five, as much as I liked the sexual escapades that were very hot, I just thought it took over the story at times in the middle. Also, very early on I figured out who the "bad guy" was. In the end, still a terrific book.

I was very intrigued with the different kind of shifter that Theo was in this. He carried the spirit of a wolf beside his own. They have a symbiotic relationship where Theo is the alpha.

I loved Theo. He has a very commanding presence. Very alpha male. When he speaks its always important. Drew is a super independent, sassy female. I loved how fearless she is. She made me laugh out loud at a few points.

They meet when Theo brings an injured dog in that was shot to the vet and finds out that Drew took over. Instantly he feels a connection with her and his wolf recognizes her as Theo's mate.

They start a relationship of sorts that's mostly just sex even though they both really like each other. Theo's fighting the truth that Drew is his mate. Which makes for some amusing conversations between him and his wolf.

About half way through the book it starts getting really suspenseful. A hunter has been shooting dogs then shooting the local wolves. You come to find out that the target is really Theo's wolf which is a British Colombian wolf that's supposed to be extinct. He's working for a collector of extinct and rare animals who wanted them to make sure that the wolf was really there and track him so he could come and hunt it. He's just a very bad man in general and mad for a good bad guy.

If you like suspenseful reads with some steamy romance then I would definitely recommend this for you. Theo and Drew are a fun pair to read about.

>Review - Extinct

>I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock. This is a stand alone book and ends with an HEA.

>Drew is the pretty new vet in town and Theo is the sheriff. They find that they are very attracted to each other, but there is a twist. Theo shares his body with the soul of a Wolf and the Wolf declared Drew as their mate. Theo tries to fight the attraction, but realizes Drew is his. Drew can't understand her quick and strong attraction to Theo.

>Drew is kept busy as animals are being shot and she helps heal them. Soon drew and Theo are being hunted by a rich madman who has local help, but who is helping isn't clear until the end standoff.

>The descriptions of the wolf inside Theo was very insightful. The author truly created 2 separate entities in one being. The historical facts and even the antique book were clever ways to prove how long Theo has lived. I never felt the instant attraction between Drew and Theo. I know Theo felt Drew was his mate, but why would Drew just sleep with Theo without even a first date? Seemed a bit out of her character. The assistant, Connie, seemed like a fun character, but her role was never really utilized. This was a character that could have been used for a bit of humor, but was forgotten.

> This book is for an adult (18+) audience. The scenes were descriptive and erotic, with a lot a descriptions that transfer over into the animal world, as is fitting.

Unwillingly chosen to share his body with the soul of a long extinct breed of wolf, Theo has long since outlived his family and friends. Time has taught him that it is much less painful to live his life alone, and though he has a few friends in the small town where he works, it isn't until he meets Drew that the desire to have something more becomes too difficult to resist. Add in the complication that his wolf desires Drew as well, and Theo is left scrambling!

Drew is overwhelmed by her uncharacteristically passionate response to Theo. From the very first moment they meet she can't help but fantasize about the strong and sexy officer. The desire to have him close, and keep him there, is one she has never experienced before and is struggling to understand.

As the danger that threatens the animals of their small community grows to encompass Theo and Drew as well, the two commitment phobic lovers are suddenly faced with the possibility that they may never have the future together that each has only begun to dream of.

EXTINCT is a well written, adventurous and intriguingly unique paranormal romance. The passionate chemistry between Theo and Drew, dynamic supporting characters, beautifully descriptive writing and intriguing action all add up to a thrilling reading experience! I loved the often hilarious way that Theo and his wolf interact, Drew's compassion, and the sensual yet surprisingly tender romance that blooms between these seemingly opposite characters.

Wow!!! This story was truly HOT and truly awesome.

Extinct has it all; hot love scenes, action, drama, suspense, mystery.

Drew is one of my favorite characters ever: she is so relatable and fun to read! "Sassy" would also be a Drew-adjective for me. She has self-doubt, just like the rest of us, and yet never stops being herself, unintended-pink-hair-streaks and all!

The mythology/folklore injected into the story was very unique. Maybe it sounds jaded, but after reading many paranormal romance books, one might start to think, "if you've read one shifter book, you've read 'em all." Not the case with Extinct. Theo not only shifted to the form of a wolf, but the wolf was its own being, and interacted with Theo as opposed to simply being an alternate physical form for Theo to occupy.

The story line has some very dramatic aspects (I'm being vague on purpose, trying not to spoil anything), which speaks to Nancy's talent as an author. She ties everything together at the end, and honestly, I would read"book 2" if she wrote it.

So, if you're looking for a different type of shifter romance that's heavy on true mates and true love, read Extinct!!!

Soppy romance with one or two juicier sections, reasonably predictable, but I liked it! You were made to feel the appropriate feelings for each of the characters - and of course you end up rooting for the hero and heroine, but the story was fleshed out nicely. A most enjoyable read one evening. I would look out for other books by Nancy Adams.

The author adds her own unique elements and spin to the werewolf legend that makes for a refreshing change and a very entertaining and romantic story with a very happily ever after ending that captures the heart.

I don't like reading about thongs, dominance or bondage in sex scenes. It makes me dislike the protagonists. Aside from that it was an interesting premise. 1.5 stars.
