Seriously disturbing, philosophical thoughts if applied in real life are the elements that will degrade one's being of life, morality and suffering and it's effect on mental health, helplessness and it's opposite. That was one heavy read.

The only criticism I could possibly offer is that to appreciate this story to it's fullest, you need more than a passive understanding of Russian social culture and norms from the relevant era. However, that is no fault of the author and so I shall still recognize it as one of the best things I've read.

The cast of characters is beautifully developed and their dialogue was *almost* always captivating. On a first read, I couldn't retain all the philosophical propositions put forth in this story and at times i found myself a little confused or lost but I believe that, to some degree, how it is done here provides depth and longevity. I very much look forward to reading this again someday.
