Many happy and productive adults grew up under difficult conditions that they couldn't change, no matter how hard they tried. Some struggled with learning and attention problems and yet found a way to succeed. What were the secrets of their resiliency? Drawing upon research examining life's trajectories, Mark Katz identifies sources of protection, strength, and understanding - the cards that enable some children to "beat the odds." He encourages therapists, educators, and other child caretakers to incorporate these factors into our system of care.

Awesome! I appreciate the way he puts it into words a better explanation of how we often treat situations like learning disabilities. It's one of those circumstances where the person is often re-victimized and blamed because of stigma - and right when they MOST need support. Spot on the way he talks about how damaging it is to tell someone to "just try harder" when they've already given all they can and already tried a million times before.

All I can say is SOOO GOOD!
